Naomi Winters will be forty—soon-ish—and she’s only been with one man. One night. One time. Long ago. She believes everything happens for a reason, and the universe spoke about Nathan Ryder.Nathan Ryder isn’t the same man who hightailed his bike out of Green Valley eighteen years ago. As a rule breaker, women are one area he acts a fool. Case in point…the local librarian. He can’t get a read on … a read on her, but she’s one risk he’s willing to take. Again.
What do an eccentric librarian and a sexy silver biker have in common? More than you think.
The due date on their love might not be expired after all.
‘Love in Due Time’ is a full-length, contemporary romantic comedy, can be read as a standalone, and is book #1 in the Green Valley Library series.

Wow! What a beautiful and sweet story. Ilove it when characters have such profound amazing chemistry. Nathan and Naomi have it in spades.
Naomi is a shy meek librarian. She has secretly been punishing herself for the last eighteen years. Punishment that she does not deserve. A night of passion that lead to a night of misery and despair. But it all comes crashing into her one night at the Piggly Wiggly, when he walks in.
Nathan has thought about her for years, but life got in the way and now he’s back. Is it fate? Can he convince the girl from his past to be his present. The past has a way of resurfacing and what usually turns up is dark buried secrets.
This book is a genuine love story. It is sweet and heartfelt. It is full of danger, lies and heartbreak. A true test to it’s readers hearts. The story and setting are perfectly written in a steady pace that was hard to put down.
Overall this book is a romance masterpiece and I can’t wait to read more about the Green Valley Library.
Oh my gosh! L.B. Dunbar went all out for Love in Due Time. It was a mash-up of genre’s and they all blended seamlessly to create a story I couldn’t put down. Small-town, with a little MC, single-parent, some danger thrown in- if any of those elements were missing, Naomi and Nathan’s story wouldn’t have worked as well as it did.
I adored Naomi. Her comfort in who she was. Her innocence. Her kindness. How she took the high road time and again. How she held onto hope. And when a gruff voice comes to her rescue, it was all Naomi could do to keep her composure. It was him…Nathan…the one she’d been longing for. But he wasn’t the same. Time and life had changed him. Hardened him. It didn’t mean her body was listening though.
As luck would have it, circumstances kept bringing Nathan and Naomi together. The chemistry between them was palpable. I could feel it pulsing off the pages. I liked Nathan’s patience with Naomi. How he gave her the time she needed while also gently guiding her. He allowed her to open up and share who she was, and what he learned he liked, a whole lot. But when he learned the reason for the guilt she carried, his world came crashing down. Was his big secret a hair predictable, yes. Did it put me off, not one bit.
I enjoyed seeing how they reacted and handled everything being out in the open. It was raw and emotional and had me rubbing my chest. And when Nathan’s past came calling, it was all he could do to keep everyone safe. The final quarter of the book had my heart racing. I hated what happened to Naomi. HATED IT! But I loved how Nathan stepped up and put it all on the line to keep everyone safe.
Filled with family and heartache and forgiveness, Love in Due Time was small-town, second-chance romance at its best. L.B. Dunbar swept me away with this story that was the right balance of dangerous and sweet. Naomi and Nathan prove that it is never too late for love to save the day.
If any one deserves a second chance it has to be Nathan & Naomi. Eighteen years have past, lives move on, people change but when your past comes back to you in the most unconventional of places you can’t help to wonder why.
Naomi works at the Green Valley Library, keeps to herself, lives her life like some people wouldn’t understand but there is just a sadness that keeps her forgetting who she was so many years ago. Can seeing Nathan again after so many years bring it all back to the forefront or should the past just stay where it is.
Nathan is a man that has definitely changed over the years, he has two daughters that he raises with the help of his Ma, works construction but his past has him looking over his shoulder once again but when he recognizes Naomi she is not the girl he remembers from so long ago.
What the two of them do not realize is that past mistakes can come full circle, but if you can get over the lies and the heartbreak there might be a chance that you can find happiness with the one person you truly never forgotten, but will that chance happen for Nathan & Naomi or should they just move on with their lives. As you turn the pages you can’t help feel cheering this couple on and hoping they find that HEA.
This was my first read by L.B. Dunbar. This one for me was just ok. I like the fact we have late 30’s for the main couple, but I wasn’t connecting with the characters. I did like some parts with the bikers which added some interest in the story. But overall the story was way too long for what it was.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This book had some (very little) good story to it. Mostly trash.
LOVED this book! A Wiccan librarian? Come on, now! Love it! I laughed so much when reading this, and I still just love the love story. Eighteen years later – yeah, I’d call that due time. What an incredible, unforgettable second chance romance. I recommend this to anyone- it’s just really, really good.
Quirky, Wonderful and inspirational. Must read
This book held my attention throughout. The plot was a little unexpected and was very good. Good characters. I’ve read another book from the same author set in Green Valley and liked that as well.
Very entertaining story. Likeable characters.
Very long and complex story.
This reads like it is extremely detailed and complex in a way that made it drag somewhat for me. They had to resolve her brother and his gang issues and the library issues and the anti wicca issues. They did it all in great detail. No sex description for a long time … and then lots of sex description.
So, I almost put it down a few times as dragging… but then kept picking it back up and reading it all the way through. I really struggled between 3 and 4 stars.
love this book
Lovable characters who react appropriately to life struggles.
Naomi, a librarian who believes in the religion of the universe & nature. Because she is seen as different, she has been the victim of bullies for a long time.
18 years ago Naomi shared a night with Nathan. He is an exiled biker boy who recently came back to town with his mother and 2 daughters.
When he walks into Naomi he immediately knows he wants a second chance and wants to do everything to get it.
But does Naomi want to give Nathan a second chance? And if she does? Will their pasts come back to haunt them?
I loved both characters, Noami is quirky and socially awkward and Nathan accepts her completely. The growth both characters go through, apart and together is so beautiful.
Humor is very important part of the story and Naomi’s and Nathan’s relationship. Racetrack humor, vagina humor, librarian humor, old man humor, sex humor… It gives the story a lighter tone.
Their love, the heat, passion slowly simmers through the development of the story. The sex scènes in the story are on the same level, years of wanting, passion slowly gets released in little bits but every part is passionate.
The audiobook is narrated by Chris Brinkley and Beth Tucker.
Chris Brinkley’s voice is low and dulcet.
When Chris Brinkley talks about the heroin, his love for her, how he makes love to her, his voice is low, sweet and sensual.
It is audible that Chris Brinkley is completely into the story. He was living the story, fully into character.
Beth Tucker has a southern accent. It is not an accent what I am familiar with and when I got used to it, I liked it a lot. Her voice is low and soft. Sometimes it sounded like she was really reading the book, but other times you she really is into the story.
Love In Due time is an engaging second chance story with unusual, quirky characters that’s filled with humor, raw emotion and passion. It’s a part of Penny Read’s Smarty Pants romance Universe, a part that I really recommend you to read.
I enjoy second chance stories and this one certainly fits the bill. I also like the 40ish age bracket, which this story’s leading characters fit into. I love books and this story involves a library, a librarian, and some interestingly titled books! This story also has diverse characters and lifestyles with an ultimate HEA!
I was so exciting to read about this town in Tenn. again.
Great Book!
I didn’t finish this book. I usually can’t put down a book by Dunbar but I just couldn’t get into this one,
I totally enjoyed this book.. it was an easy read, the characters were appealing.
I enjoyed Naomi and Nathan’s story. It’s nice to see authors dealing with “older” characters. I loved all the gray hairs remarks! It was a great plot with the characters dealing with internal and external conflicts. Loved the book!
It was a delightful surprise to recognize familiar characters.
