Second chance romance for over 40 a must read.
Meet Naomi Winters a 39 year old Librarian getting on with her life in green valley.
That is until she walks into Piggly Wiggly and bumps into a man that changed her life 18 years ago Nathan Ryder.
She has not seen or heard from Nathan in 18 years little does he know what impacted he did have on her life.
The attraction is still there between them both Nathan wants to get to know Naomi again after he visits her at the library and suggests they have three dates for her to make her mind up about him.
Nathan has had a colourful past before he left green valley 18 years ago he was about to be patched in to the Iron Wraiths MC club. But what happened that night changed his life forever he was told to leave green valley and never return.
But he does return with his two daughters and Ma he now leads a simple life as a construction worker.
Naomi has a great and quirky personality that you will just love why she may have knowledge of the book world she has none on the outside world, but Nathan is willing to teach her that so what will happen after the three dates will there be more.
A few twists in this book that you didn’t see coming so I guess you will have to read it to find out will they get the HEA they deserve.
Oh my! What an emotional roller coaster ride! And what a masterpiece by Mrs. Dunbar!
Naomi’s and Nathan’s process of re-acquainting with each other after eighteen long years apart has been so delicately described that I could feel every emotion, every single self-doubt deep in my core.
Naomi’s shyness and insecurity are as relatable by the life experiences she has gone through, as Nathan’s guilt and guilty conscience for events in his past.
Reading their story felt like dancing in a light breeze like a butterfly, and at the same time carrying the weight of the world on ones shoulders.
The contradiction between the ease of their teasing and their inner turmoil due to their rekindled feelings and their deeply rooted feelings about what happened in their past, felt like torture while reading.
I loved this twisted, profound and poetic novel that lives off its contradictions, roughed up on the one hand by the threat of a MC club and mitigated on the other hand by the nature-bound influence of the Wicca cult.
This is another phenomenal read of the master of rom-coms for the over-40s.
Naomi and Nathan were enveloped in a magical spell that bound them together forever. Many years went by before the heavens allowed their paths to cross again.
The earth, wind and water surrounds Naomi, keeping her safe and one with herself. Her life is full at the library, helping young minds understand the importance of books as well as offering the community a comforting place to gather. She sees the world differently than most people which gives her inner peace and contentment. One thing is missing from her life: the love and companionship of her soulmate. Naomi has convinced herself that she is happy alone, and she doesn’t need a man to make her feel complete. Long ago, in another time, she met a man who had remained in her heart and mind forever. She was a different person then, a carefree young woman who was waiting to let loose and have fun, and she did just that the night she met Nathan.
Although many years had passed and many women had come and gone, only Naomi had left an indelible mark on Nathan’s soul. She was his one true love and all the women after her could never measure up. Nathan’s wild and impetuous youth led him to become a hardworking, sexy, silver fox, who puts his family first and his love life on the back burner. You can’t predict the future, but he never thought he would reconnect with Naomi again and instantly feel that he had come home.
The only question left unanswered was how to approach Naomi without coming on too strong. There was so much to explain to her, so much of life to share. Would she accept his honesty and take a chance on him, or will she remain closed off, with an impenetrable wall between them? Only time will tell.
“I’m stuck on you.” This phrase has multiple meanings for the amazing couple in this sweet second chance romance. It also is one of the cutest ways Naomi and Nathan express their feelings to each other later on. I adore those scenes of them literally getting stuck together so much in so many ways. For an older couple they definitely go through some awkward and innocent moments besides the steamy and sexy times.
It has been 18 years since they have seen each other and they didn’t exactly have a typical ending. The past definitely shaped who Naomi is now and she is so not the same as her 21 year old self by a long shot. Nathan is different now too. He’s a dad to two girls. He is a very protective man which is what draws him even more to Naomi. To watch him and Naomi reconnect and work through and deal with the past and issues in the present too is such a wonderful and hopeful story. It isn’t easy that’s for sure but somehow they get through it and find their HEA with each other. 4 1/2 stars for this wonderful love story by LB Dunbar.
It’s been 18 yrs since Naomi & Nathen we’re together and he left. Naomi was a considered a reckless wild child back The & now years later almost 40 the towns people think she’s a Witch; but really she’s just the librarian. One Friday night out of the blue she Runs into Nathen at the piggly wiggly and this interaction along with many other will have you laughing until you cry. Both of them think that each other have forgotten that night together & moved on without a second thought and their chance for happiness passed them bye; they will soon find out how wrong they both are. Love in due time is Book #1 in the Green Valley Library Book That is part of Penny Reid’s smartypance Romance; is a brilliant standalone story by L.B.Dunbar, I cannot wait to read what happens next at the Green Valley Library
This book was so not expected. The female main character is very different from any other book. The male one is very special, an alpha and very sweet caring. They are older than the usual main characters, but that is usual in LB Dunbar’s books and that’s part of why I love her books so much. However, this time the heroine is very peculiar, smart, sweet and sexy. I just loved the whole story, the couple and how the story develops. I definitely want to read more about this couple and this town, as well as the other interesting characters she presents in this book. I loved it! It deserves 5 stars.
Naomi has been living her life alone. Keeping herself away from overindulging in life like she did before.
18 years ago she met Nathan and after a wondering night he never called. Now Nathan is back but can Naomi let go of the past and explore life with Nathan. Nathan is trying to live his life right and be a good father to his girls. Soon he realizes life will be complete with Naomi in their lives. So enjoying this Smartypants Series!
This is the story of Nathan & Naomi (Nae), in Book 1 of the Green Valley Library Series. This is such a unique story because of Naomi’s beliefs. It’s a very interesting and intriguing story. The happenings of eighteen years ago molded Naomi into what she is today. Nathan and Naomi meet again after all that time. Nathan is basically a biker, and Naomi is a librarian. There is humor in this story, parts where certain little sayings stick with them. There is plenty of action, also. They have their ups and downs in a very short time. The writing is superb and easy to follow. I am looking forward to Book 2 in the Green Valley Library Series. I highly recommend this book.
Love in due time is truly a second chance romance. I loved watching Naomi come into her own as a woman, the first chapter had me laughing out loud!
Nathan and Naomi Met 18 years ago and then never saw each other again. When a chance encounter has them meeting again they both have to decide if there is something there they want to explore. The was a bit of mystery and drama. I enjoyed watching them reconnect and learn to trust. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series.
I can see that I’m totally in the minority here but this book isn’t for me. I have been so nervous about writing this review! I know how much hard work, sweat and tears that go into this whole book process.
Let me say that I love L.B. Dunbar. I mean, really really, love this author. She is one of my go-to authors. I recommend her every chance I get when a reader asks for the genre she writes. I love her Facebook fan page. She is great on interacting with ‘us fans’ and one day I hope to meet her. Geez, after rereading that I feel a bit like a stalker! Really I’m not, lol!
Anyways…this book didn’t resonate with me. I felt like it was missing something. I feel like there should have been a prologue from the beginning, that first night, from Naomi’s POV. Maybe because it was such a slow burn, I missed that chemistry that I always feel in L.B Dunbar’s books. While reading, I felt I was getting more information on the Wiccan religion than I was on the romance that was supposed to be rekindling. And when the H started saying Wiccan phrases, it really threw me off. I never could get a real picture of him in my mind.
So after writing the above, even though it wasn’t for me, all of her other books have been. I will continue to read ‘all the books’ she writes. And I’m positive, will enjoy them to the fullest.
“I’m a thirty-nine-year-old sexually-repressed librarian who practices self-love in hopes of reviving her inner goddess.” – Naomi
From the very beginning of Love in Due Time Naomi captured me. Her innocence and sweetness were endearing, but when combined with her strength and determination to be true to herself, that is when she showed how amazing she really was! And then when she allowed her slightly naughty side to show, she became a true goddess and put a smile on my face.
Nathan knew Naomi was special eighteen years ago and he hadn’t even experienced all that was Naomi back then. It wasn’t their time, life got in the way, but now they have another chance to get to know each other and figure out what it is that keeps pulling them towards each other. They each have struggled with personal punishment and blame for something that happened many years earlier. Without even realizing it, their lives have been intertwined for years and if they each can find a way to forgive themselves and put that part of their past behind them, they can move forward to their future.
Nathan is the type of character that you can’t help but fall in love with. He is tough on the outside and is protective by nature, but he has a big heart. He gives it to his daughters and now he finds he is under the spell that Naomi has spun around him. He is stuck on her like she is stuck on him and he relishes in her innocence and uniqueness and grants her all the patience she needs in order to move forward with him.
The beauty of this story is that we have a front row seat as Nathan and Naomi take the journey of slowly discovering each other as mature adults. Once again L.B. Dunbar shows us that you can find love at any age, whether it is your first or second time around, there is someone out there for you.
Love in Due Time is a second chance romance at it’s best. L.B. Dunbar has delivered a well written story about two older characters, Naomi and Nathan, and how they find their way back to each other. Naomi is this wonderful eccentric librarian, while Nathan is a gruff construction worker and biker, and the best part is they are both older and maybe don’t seem like the most likely couple but they just work. There is so much going on in this book that you will be sucked right in and won’t be able to stop reading until the very end. Both of their personalities, their banter, and their willingness to love, fight, forgive, and love again, make this story the wonderful book it is.
This is a second chance love story. Naomi Winters fell for a man she met in a bar and spent the night with when she was 21 years old. He said he would call but she never heard from him. Fast forward eighteen years later and Naomi has a chance meeting with her one night stand in the local Piggly Wiggly. Nathan is an older version of what she remembers. Naomi is different with her long white streaked hair and dresses frumpy and is very insecure. She blames herself for an unfortunate accident that happened the night they were together. Because of that she has become emotionally detached from men and dating. Nathan is set on pursuing her as he still feels that connection and he wants more. They slowly begin dating and getting to know one another. Naomi blossoms under Nathan’s love and affection and is finally feeling secure about their relationship when a secret is revealed that will once again tear them apart. This story is one of tragedy, heartbreak, forgiveness and second chances. I loved the banter between Nae and Nathan and the protectiveness he has for her. This story has all the feels. It is emotional, witty and charming. L.B. Dunbar has once again written a great book that will make you fall in love with the storyline and characters.
Gimme all the LB Dunbar books , I love her stories.
This second chance romance is beautiful.
Naomi and Nathan once met each other in a bar and after a passionate night, some broken promises and a devastating accident Naomi now lives alone in a house near the woods. The librarian is a Wiccan and thus the talk of town. Nathan once was a prospect for a MC and is now a father of two girls. 18 years after their unforgettable night they meet again. A sign?!
Absolutely great.
The protagonists are both the best and so lovely. Okay, Nathan is not lovely, he’s a man, a beast – you know what I mean .
Naomi is cute. What I love most about her is that she doesn’t give much thought about what people talk about her. She’s solidified in her religion she doesn’t change for anyone. She loves books, her job and “her” children at the library. She’s funny, they both are, and she never got over Nathan.
Nathan is a protector, he’s Naomi’s protector, and he also never forgot the girl from his past. He discovers, that the secret, which is holding him back his whole life, could destroy their relationship. But he has to fight. And now he gets the chance to do it right.
This is LB Dunbar at her best. A unique storyline, great characters and a HEA in Green Valley.
I highly recommend this book.
Love in Due Time…WOW, just wow…this 2nd chance romance was everything and more with my emotions all over the place. Nathan just wanting to get it right for the woman he always thought about and Naomi wanting the only man to have ever been in her life…both just stuck on each other even after 18 years, yet fighting the demons from their past lives. I LOVED IT
Love in Due Time is L.B. Dunbar’s installment in the Green Valley Library Series. This and future stories are set in Penny Reid’s Winston World and throughout the story you get flashes of some of your favorite of Reid’s characters. Love is the story of Nathan and Naomi. A couple who had a “moment” together in their youth that led to unforeseen changes in both of their lives. As they live their lives out, they meet again when they supposedly think they are who they are meant to be but nothing is exactly as it seems. This is another of L.B.Dunbar’s “Silver Fox” stories that I enjoy reading so much. As they learn about each other at this stage in their lives and discover that long buried feelings are pushing toward the surface …a revelation as well as outside forces threaten to keep them apart they need to see if they can truly learn what is important in life. Of course a with all L.B. Dunbar’s stories you get your HEAD and the trip down this winding road is well worth the read. Happy Travels!
This book is a little different. I loved every word of it. The eccentric librarian who harbored so much guilt she hid inside herself. The sexy silver fox construction worker/biker. Both over forty and sexy as sin.
Naomi and Nathan’s story is about second or even third chances. Forgiveness, hope, sadness and love all mixed into one story.
This author never seizes to amaze me and I am loving all her over forty books!!
I loved this story, it was so beautiful and sweet. I definitely recommend this book, this series, and this author.
