Sometimes it takes an outsider to force us to see who we are. The real struggle is accepting what we learn. For Beverly Townsen, nothing could be closer to the truth. Virtually a shut-in, Beverly has pulled backfrom Green Valley’s community, preferring the isolation of her farmhouse and her daily routine ofviewing home improvement television shows. When the opportunity arises for her own home… for her own home
improvement and a personal re-assessment, she’s not so excited about the reality of real life versus DIY
programs.
Jedd Flemming understands physical pain and personal loss, but it’s never stopped him from bucking
forward in life. A former military man and rodeo star, his life as a nomad comes to an end with false
accusations and a family matter back in the Valley. It’s been a long journey to find his way home and
once there, there’s nothing he wants more than to reclaim what he’s lost…and maybe the elusive female
reclusive who holds a sliver of his past.
With an unprecedented proposition, Beverly finds a stranger living in her barn, raising horses on
borrowed pastures, and plowing his way into her vacant heart. Old hurts linger, but sometimes love in
deed is louder than words.
‘Love in Deed’ is a full-length contemporary romance, can be read as a standalone, and is book #6 in the Green Valley Libary series, Green Valley World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

This story will have you on a roller coaster journey of emotions little by little they both share their pasts, all the ugly parts of it and a few twist along the way.
Will they get the HEA they both deserve please read it to find out.
Very thought provoking book. At first I did not care for Beverly (Bee). After tragic circumstances she basically became a reclusive bitter woman who acted much older than her age. As the book progressed Bee starts to realize she isn’t really living her life. She has been stalled for years while allowing her daughter to control everything. As Bee grew and changed so did my opinion of her. I was rooting for her to take charge of her life. To me, that credit all goes to the writing of L.B Dunbar. She took a character who was butter and broken and showed us her metamorphosis to a butterfly.
Jedd. Jedd. Jedd. Well that man is just swoon worthy. He takes the time to allow Bee to transform at her own pass while showing her through actions and deeds that he is in it for the long haul.
Love in deed is so much more than a romance. It’s a love story about falling in love with yourself.
I’m still reading my way through all of L.B.’s books, but man. This book is fantastic.
Beverly and Jedd are two lost souls who find their way back to living by unintentionally finding their way to each other. Both rise from the ashes of tragedy and loss to become bigger and better, and I loved watching their growth and their love. Beverly is one of my favorite leading women ever because, while life has knocked her down, she has got a spirit in her that doesn’t quit. I really enjoyed watching her transformation, and I couldn’t help but cheer for her as she found herself again.
Then there’s rugged, charming Jedd, who loves unconditionally and wants so much from various things, but especially from Beverly. He’s patient, loyal, and an overall good man. He’s perfect for Beverly, even if it takes her awhile to realize that.
Overall, this book brings on a rollercoaster of emotions but is absolutely worth the ride. Beverly and Jedd’s journey is one you shouldn’t miss.
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of this book. It was absolutely fantastic, and I can’t wait for Scotia’s book!
Love in Deed was different. It is really rare in a story to have main characters who both are physically challenged in some way as well as both being emotionally beat up in some way. Beverly is immensely sharp tongued — we saw that in Naomi’s story (Love in Due Time). We didn’t, however, know all the hows and why’s but we find out everything in this story and to be fair…I’d feel like Beverly myself if I’d been put through the same wringer. Jedd may be just what the doctor ordered but he has secrets that may blow everything up and Beverly may never survive another blow. Sweet, sexy, dirty and fun read. Older woman finding herself, her beauty and her strength is an amazing thing. Some events from this story run across the timeline in Love in Due time, so I’d definitely read that one first.
This is Book 6 in the Green Valley Library Series.
This is the story of Jedd & Beverly. Jedd comes back to Green Valley after twenty years looking for his brother, who is missing. He was in the military and was injured, but not by combat. Then he was in the rodeo for a number of years. Beverly is an alcoholic. She and her husband Howard lived on a farm on the outskirts of Green Valley. He was a verbally abusive husband. Ten years ago she was drinking and driving and was in an accident. She had severe damages. She has a daughter who came back from college to live with her and take care of her. Jedd wants to raise horses and breed them on her land. Jedd and Beverly’s daughter come to an agreement. Jedd has a hidden agenda. There are so many secrets each of them weave. It’s also a mystery of sorts. The thing they both don’t count on is falling in love. The title of the book is perfect to the story. It takes Beverly a long time to heal from her past. The process is very slow. This story takes you through each step as she does so. There are a lot of emotions in this story, and you feel each one of them. It’s a great story, as it is well written, as it should be. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series.
What a beautiful love story.
It was wonderful to see how these two characters changed and grew over time.
I definitely recommend this author, this series and this book.
L.B. Dunbar has outdone herself with Love in Deed. This story is the next book in the Green Valley Library series and follows Beverly, Naomi’s (from Love in Due Time) sister, and Jed, a former Green Valley resident returning to put down roots. At the heart of this story is a wonderful love story between two people that have their hardships. Beverly has become somewhat of a recluse after her accident and Jed is trying to settle down after being in the military and on the road with the rodeo. And what happens next for both of them is something neither of them expect. Ms. Dunbar has written this wonderfully difficult and heartwarming love story between two older people that haven’t been shown a whole lot of love in their life.
If there ever was a character that has overcame so much it most definitely is Beverly Townsen.
Beverly has been through some emotional events in her life, they have kept her down for so long, and the only true bright light in her life has always been her daughter Hannah until Jedd Flemming shows up.
Jedd has comes to Beverly with one thing on his mind until he gets to know Beverly then everything is turned upside down.
The transformation of Beverly is very inspirational and you can’t help feel that everything she has gone through has taught her that with the right person by your side encouraging you that you are worth everything and it can make you the best you.
Bethany and Jedd’s story was a true story of rising from the ashes, surviving, and finding a second chance at love. Love In Deed truly tugged at my heartstrings. The characters have had more than their fair share of struggles, yet they persevered and came out better on the other side. Their journey was not smooth and was not without pain, guilt, and the sting of betrayal, but they each found purpose, love, and acceptance with each other.
Jedd is such a sweet character; so loving and respectful of Bethany’s needs. Bethany is cautious but Jedd’s kindness and flirty personality weaves it’s way into her heart, into her soul. This is the type of story that makes me smile, especially in these uncertain times.
This is a perfectly written story with all the feels. Beverly thought she had it all when her life took a turn that she didn’t expect. Broken and depressed, she trudges through life thanks to the help of her daughter who let go of her dreams to take care of her mother. Jedd is horse trainer who shows up on Beverly’s porch with a proposition. He is also suffered tragedy in his life but he has come to terms with what has happened and has moved forward. Beverly is rude and mean to Jedd but he sees the person that she could be if only she was happy with herself. He pushes Beverly to become independent and realize that her life can be better. The transformation of Beverly is amazing. Jedd is a patient man who pushes Beverly to her limits and beyond. L.B. Dunbar has done a wonderful job in writing this book. It is an emotional and uplifting story of tragedy and rebirth of two characters who both suffer in their lifetime but find a way to persevere and find happiness in each other.
How do you write an appropriate review for such a work of beauty?
I can only try to find words that come close …
At first Jedd and Beverly aka Bee are like two stars orbiting around each other as gravitation gradually increases.
Both are physically disadvantaged after accidents, although both cope with it in very different ways. Jedd accepted his fate and is full of energy, ready to settle down, while Beverly embitter over time, withdrawing from everyone and lashing out if anyone tries to approach her.
When the two meet, slowly a change of heart begins for Bee. Seeing that change, that transformation in Bee from an unremarkable caterpillar into a bee and then into a beautiful butterfly (okay, that’s not the way it happens in real life, lol, but that’s how Beverly transforms, metaphorically speaking) is one of the most beautiful, skilful and sensitive metarmophoses described in a character that I’ve read in a very long time. Seeing the wounded soul and watching the healing process is something truly exhilarating.
Add to this the hot chemistry between the two protagonists and a plot with some ups and downs and you might understand what a rare treasure this book is.
For me, it is a reading highlight in 2020, it is an intense read with profound characters that touches me deep inside and has captivated my attention from the first to the last page and longer.
I was an emotional wreck when I finished reading “Love in Deed.” Every page was filled with deep emotion, the struggle of dealing with physical pain and the joy of finally finding someone who truly understood you. L.B. Dunbar has outdone herself with this amazing and powerful book. I read it twice because I needed to experience again, the beautiful reawakening of Beverly and the encouraging and loving affection Jedd had for her.
I cried when the hairstylist began cutting Beverly’s hair, because she realized this was a new beginning and that she was ready for anything. I felt how free Beverly became after her plunge into the cold water. It was a rebirth for her so she could become the woman and mother she wanted to be, and begin her life again.
Jedd could see into Beverly’s soul and somehow made her admit her fears, her desires and her dreams to him. It was as if he had cast a spell over her with his sultry, deep voice and his mesmerizing eyes. But none of that mattered to Beverly. She knew Jedd would leave her just like everyone else in her life. Her trust in men was non-existent and when he did leave, she would always regret never having the chance to taste Jedd’s lips while gazing into his soulful eyes.
Heart breaking journey of growing up, changes in life that you just do not understand, learning that not all people are good, honest and loyal, learning it’s not you that was the problem and finally emerging in a better place, better relationship with everyone and learning that love is someone that sees you, loves you and will always be there for you. This book gives you all of the feels but man what a ride!! Loved it!!
LB Dunbar is a wonderful writer so that is not the problem I had reading this, unfortunately I just had a really hard time connecting and empathizing with the hero and heroine of this story enough to give it more stars. Both Beverly and Jedd have been through some really awful events in their pasts leaving them both physically scarred and Beverly severely emotionally scarred. Normally this would make me really be in their corners rooting for them. But there were some things they both said and did that really bothered me which is what made it difficult for me to really get into the story more and truly like them. I am very happy they were able heal each other though and navigate through the rough journey they were on together to find their eventual HEA. It sure was a tough road for them.
This is the story of Beverly and Jedd. She was very lively, sweet and naive when young. Now she’s bitter, crippled and with apparently no reason to get better and fight again. He’s an ex-soldier who was wounded, though not exactly in battle and lost an arm. He wants to rent space in her land, where she lives with her daughter, to raise horses. She is bitter and angry, but he sees her past that. He slowly gets to crumble her invisible walls and get to her heart. They are both kind, compassionate and caring humans who deserve one another.
This is definitely a beautiful story. So far, this series is awesome. I like the fact different authors write the books and I get to hear about the characters from other books in the stories. I will keep reading them.
Love in Deed is the newest Smartypants Release, part of the Green Valley Library Series and the continued story of the Winter Sisters. This is the tale of Naomi’s sister Beverly, whom we met in LB Dunbar’s prev release Love in Due Time. Overall this is an enjoyable read as you follow the tale of Beverly’s personal journey from what was probably the lowest point in her tough life at a young age to recovery of her own belief in herself and her capabilities. She finds the person to bring her back to life in Jedd, someone who had life treat him unfairly in the past and is trying to recover in his own way. I will admit I had a hard time liking Beverly in the beginning, finding sympathy with her history but not really empathy. Jedd was a hard read for me as well initially. He does have some ulterior motives when it comes to Beverly and what he wants from her, but in the long run they both have a rough road to their HEA. It was nice to join them on their personal and mutual journeys in this story by an author whose books I truly love.
