A sexy standalone romance in the Pine Harbour series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Zoe York. It’s time for this soldier to fight for the only woman he has ever loved. Jake Foster fell in love with Dani Minelli when she was a colt-legged high school senior. He knew he was too old to even look at her, let alone touch. But Dani’s been trying to get his attention since … attention since returning to Pine Harbour a grown woman—and Jake is all out excuses not to grab her with both hands.

Well, I thought Rafe was pretty great, but Jake makes him look kinda like a jerk. Rafe isn’t a jerk, Jake just makes him seem like one by comparison. This is a pretty typical “got a thing for my best friend’s little sister” story. In this case, it’s something that been in the making for close to ten years.
Jake and Rafe have been best friends since first grade. Rafe is Dani’s older brother. Dani has always had a thing for Jake but knew it was hopeless because of the whole “best friends with my older brother” thing. There have been several times over the last ten years that either Jake or Dani should’ve acted, wish they had acted, didn’t act and realized they blew it. Jake is determined to rectify all of that. Dani is a little resistant. There are miscommunications and a blast from the past that throw a wrench into things. Can they overcome those protective older brothers (both Jake’s and Dani’s)? Can they figure out how to trust one another and talk things through instead of reacting first?
There’s just a lot of everyday life going on in this one. It’s fun, cute, and quick. A great summer break brain candy sort of read.
Sweet, sexy, sappy, funny hometown story you will love.
Couple who knew eachother for years admitted their love. Trashy. Too much explicite sex.
Dani and Jake – this is their story. I love this series. Each book is a standalone but have beloved characters in each of the books (this is the second one I have read, with more to come). Fun, sexy, romantic, caring, family (some good and some complicated). Bravo!!
A great feel-good romance with a couple who finally find the right time to be together! A fun read!
Zoe York is always a must read!
This is part of the Pine Harbour series by author Zoe York. I love the way she writes, She really makes you feel as if you know her characters personally. They really should be read in order, and all the characters are in every book. I reread this series at least once a year, because I enjoy it so much.
Great book. One of my favorite authors. She did not disappoint me.
I thought it was awesome. It just shows you that even the big bad wolf can be tamed.
Love this series!
An enjoyable story with wonderful characters. A relaxing afternoon read.
Good story. I like this author a lot!
I liked the characters
I love Zoe York’s books! Being Canadian and knowing the setting of this series also adds to my enjoyment!!
I love this series. In this book, however, the steamy content prevails on the story telling, impacting the brilliance of the storyline and slowing down the rythm of the narration
hard to put down
This is book 2 in series
I really liked this story. I do like Zoe York’s writing. I liked the complexity and the inter-relationships of the 2 or 3 or more families that inter-act across multiple stories in the small Canadian town near Lake Heron.
I will advise those who do not like descriptive sex scenes that there will be several they need to skim or skip. They are not really necessary at level of descriptions for the story. But, they are well written. I did end up skimming them when they got repetitive.
The story itself is very good. The age gap makes sense for how things were in years past. Some of the issues they have with each other once they do hook up are a bit questionable, but go with the flow cause it makes a good story.
Super cute. Just wish they hadn’t waited so long. He waited because he felt she was too young for him and his best friends baby sister. Then she seemed to push him off the last two years. Finally they come together. And honestly I can see where he is coming from feeling slightly used but her I want to revel in the sec phase is great if you haven’t been pining away for the last 8 years. So both were reasonable and not. Poor Ryan. Can’t wait for his book.
The first one is less realistic, this one has a moment but for the most part it’s a good relationship. They are friends first and he’s self aware enough to know he doesn’t express himself well. She’s self aware enough to know when expressing herself wouldn’t help the situation. It’s cuter than the first one.
I really enjoyed this steamy little story. Jake, in particular, was super yummy! I do love a best friend’s little sister trope. Look forward to reading the next in the series!
