Another good entry to Pine Harbor series.
I loved this book. I like all of Zoe York’s books but this one I like most of all (to date). I sat down and read it in one day which is unheard of in this household. It is a beautiful, enchanting and romantic story as well as being an emotional roller coaster.
I would recommend this book to anyone at all!
How satisfying was that ending? No, seriously, after being battered by feeling the pain and despair from Sean, to have him happy and adjusted by the end of the book, it simply took my breathe away! Sean and Jenna met on a good lull in a place where they were surrounded by a world at war. They eked out their happiness in a moment and then the world collapsed on them. Thank goddess for Jenna’s stubbornness and tenacity, because my heart hurt for her. She lost so much as well, but she was willing to fight no matter how exhausted she was. Sean finally figured out what was worth recovering for, with nudges, pushes, and insight from people who loved him. Directly and indirectly he found himself while realizing he wasn’t a new man, he was the same man on a different path now, and Jenna was right there with him
Now, how Zoe managed to work in a marriage in trouble when the ink wasn’t even dry on the marriage certificate show her dedication to the trope!
Patience and love can get you through anything.
I enjoyed Sean and Jenna’s story. At first, it bothered me a little going back and forth between past and present, but it was necessary and not a major irritation. I was glad when we finally got to stay in the present.
I thought the author did a good job in portraying Sean’s feelings about not being the man he was before. I had to admire Jenna for showing up and sticking it out. Jenna was such a good person. I think she only let her frustration show a couple of times.
This book was inspiring in the way Jenna remained steadfast. Her ability to stay the course helped Sean to make necessary changes in his life.
This romance was sweet, steamy, a little sad, inspiring, and resulted in Sean and Jenna’s HEA.
I could not put it down!
It starts as a wonderful love story between a soldier and a midwife in a war zone. As in all wars nothing is certain. The story starts to change but can the lovers change with it.
I had not previously read any Zoe York books although I have read and enjoyed a number of her novels as Ainsley Booth. I’m not generally a fan of military themed romances but this book is so well written and the story of the injured veteran and the journey he and his wife went through to adjust their relationship following his traumatic injuries was really well done. The work of repairing him and their relationship was well written and emotionally satisfying. I highly recommend this book.
I just loved the characters. This series is great.
Love Zoe York’s writing style. She really makes you live the characters. And this story is so poignant. A true testament to not giving up.
Sean and Jenna meet overseas and secretly get married. When he get injured he returns home, but doesn’t tell Jenna. When she finally finds out what happens and tracks him down, she refuses to give up on their relationship not matter what! Author did a great time telling their story and how they dealt with his injury! Great read!
OK, I just received a kick in the pants! What for, you ask? Love in a Sandstorm did a major as…er butt kicking on me, reminding me of why Zoe York is one of most favorite authors in the world!
I was gifted with an advanced copy of this book for my honest opinion. And let me tell you this, YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT GO WRONG READING THIS PHENOMENAL BOOK!!!
I loved watching the whirlwind romance develop between Sean and Jenna. Jenna’s mom would definitely say ‘it happened too fast’, but, when you know, you know. They take a vacation together and decide to marry by the end of it. They agree to keep the marriage a secret and return to their regular lives, until the end of the current assignments. This is partly to protect Jenna, as she is married to an officer, as she serves as a midwife for Doctors without Borders in Turkey. However, tragedy happens and Sean is severely injured. Jenna does not find out until he has returned home to Canada. Because of his injuries, Sean has decided he is going to let Jenna go, and let her find someone she deserves. But, Jenna has other plans. She moves to Pine Harbour and is determined to prove to Sean that their marriage is worth fighting for.
This book is a panty melting, emotional roller coast ride of a book. This phenomenal book gives the reader some insight on what families and friends go thru when their loved one returns home injured. Ms. York has that way of drawing her readers in in a way that makes them see absolutely EVERYthing.
Thank you for reading my review. Now, what are you waiting for, go pre-order/order this book, you will not be sorry.
I love this book. Zoe York did a fantastic job with this book. It was very realistic to what a soldier goes through when they come home and if they are hurt it is really bad. Zoe had me laughing and crying and remembering when it was me. I served my time and my husband still does and books like this get me through the tough night.
