Hiring a boyfriend for Christmas; what could possibly go wrong?
Derek is facing yet another Christmas where his life feels out of control. He has a new career that doesn’t feel like his, and parents who would just love to see him settled down. All he needs is a temporary buffer for the parties he has to attend, and for his parents to leave him alone. Enter, Luke.
Luke is twenty-thousand dollars … twenty-thousand dollars short for the renovations on Halligans; his family’s bar in New York’s Financial District. A favor for a buddy has him agreeing to play the part of boyfriend to a guy with more money than sense.
But when the spirit of Christmas works its magic on the two men, and they begin to fall for each other, Derek runs scared, and Luke needs space.
It doesn’t matter what obstacles you throw in the way of love, or how much you run in the other direction, because, when you’re least expecting it, whether you want it or not, love happens anyway.

I found this book to be a very enjoyable read with the well written storyline and the well rounded characters which kept me totally glued to my kindle until the very last page!
Simply adorable. Derek needs to find a guy who can act as the boyfriend he made up. Luke checks off most of the items on his list, and decides he will become Marcus to save face with Derek’s family and friends. But the more time they spend together the closer the two become. But will the two end the fake relationship at the end of the agreement or will true feeling come forth and the romance becomes real and true? Filled with wonderful characters and an enjoyable storyline this was a great read. I only wish the two characters would be in other books!!
I was drawn from the start and the keeps you flying through the pages non stop with shocking twist is balanced out.

In this book we meet Derek Henderson and Luke Davers. Derek feels like he is hanging on a ledge with no hope of coming back after lying to his parents repeatedly about the man he is dating just to get them off his back. Luke will do anything to keep the bar that he and his sister own. So when he comes to a friends business and is offered the money he needs to play Derek’s boyfriend for 4 dates he isn’t sure but is willing to go along. Both of them are desperate and they need one another. Can they make this work or will they find that a true HEA was there and they missed it?
This is an amazing book. It does have its and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don’t want to ruin this story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I will say this book will show you that no matter the sex love doesn’t come easily or without sacrificing something for it. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
An intriguing sweet holiday about friendship and fake boyfriend romance story. Good engaging characters. Well-written book. The pleasure to read this book.
He is tired of his family going on about finding someone so he decides to hire a boyfriend simple right? Not so simple. They need money so being later to be a pretend boyfriend they jump at it. Will it stay pretend? See if it will

This was a really enjoyable holiday romance, about two lonely people coming together for a few weeks at Christmastime to help each other, and perhaps finding more than they expected along the way. Derek is a tightly wound, very restrained and self controlled advertising executive with a rich inner life that he doesn’t often allow to escape. Luke is former firefighter, sidelined by an injury on the job, struggling to make a go of the family bar business. Derek has created a fictional boyfriend to try and keep his parents from meddling and trying to fix him up, and now things have gotten to the point where he must produce the actual boyfriend, or confess there IS no boyfriend. Luke’s family has run out of money and his last hopes for a bank loan have been dashed when he gets a call from an old friend with a business proposition. Derek ends up at an escort agency trying to hire the perfect match to the boyfriend he’s been describing to his parents…and Luke just happens to match that description perfectly. The money Derek is willing to pay will more than cover what Luke’s family needs–he’d be a fool to turn down the assignment, but he’s not an escort, and he’s not comfortable with the job–even though there is to be absolutely no sex involved. Watching these two strong men navigate their way to getting to know each other–especially seeing Derek’s internal conversation versus what he conveys to the outside world…I really enjoyed. I enjoyed watching their attraction build, and I enjoyed seeing Luke bring Derek’s confidence and strengths to the forefront, and help him get out of his head a little bit. I liked a lot of the supporting characters as well; this is a relatively quick read, so we don’t get to know anyone super well, but the glimpses we have lend depth to the characters they’re supporting, and, for me at least, helped me get more invested in the outcome. I felt this was a warm, feel good Christmas romance, and I enjoyed it very much.

I absolutely loved this sweet love story! Derek, a shy, insecure ad-man who, in spite of his family connections and wealth, has had bad luck in love has created the perfect fantasy boyfriend in order to evade the pressure from his parents to find love. His lies have been specific and descriptive, so what does he do when his parents insist on meeting this special man? Go to a matchmaker to get a stand-in, of course. Luke Devers has had some rough things happen to him, and he is trying to resurrect his family’s bar, but he is short on cash. Even though he doesn’t really want to pretend to be Derek’s boyfriend, he needs the cash. Surely, he can put on an act. What could possibly go wrong? And so the adventure begins. I loved both Derek and Luke, and the way they helped heal each others’ insecurities and past hurts, both real and imagined, physical and emotional. Overall, this is a really sweet, pretty low angst story, although it does include reference to family members lost to 9-11. I loved the interaction between the MCs, and the family members as well. Luke and Derek are made for one another. I loved the book cover, too, and that cute, sneaky snowman.

Love Happens Anyway by RJ Scott is a great story to read. This is a great story to read with wonderful charaters and a great story line. I can not wait to see what the author writes next.

This is sweet, romantic and interesting. Derek is uptight, demanding and lonely. Luke is sweet, caring and friendly. Derek hires Luke to act as his boyfriend so that his mother will get off his case and stop trying to set him up. Luke thinks he’s a jerk when he first meets him, but then he realizes that Derek is just confused and lost. The more Luke understands Derek, the closer they get, but not on the same page. They make a sweet, romantic couple, and they are good for each other. I loved the slow untangle of Derek’s life.

So often, we find ourselves trying to figure out ways to get the people off our backs who mean well in what they want for us so they push us to find what they think is good for us. Derek needs a partner for the holidays to appease those who want him in a relationship and Luke needs cash. This is a recipe for finding yourself in a situation that dips beneath the surface once they stop trying to act and let themselves be. The attraction grows and the reader gets a fun story to read.

I absolutely loved Derek and Luke I must admit at first I was a little skeptical about hiring a boyfriend but these two were perfect for each other I couldn’t help but cheer them on to love. With the twist and turns on the path to love this is a must read.

I love the fake boyfriend trope, and in Love Happen Anyway it was well done. It was a fast read and it was very cute. R. J. Scott did a great job with this book and I couldn’t put down. Great Christmas story.
A nice story about friendship, love and pretending. A fake relationship books are one of my favourite. The characters usually have to discover themselves, get to know each other and explore the emotions. The book has it all.
Somewhat spoiled little rich boy Derek is kind of a brat. Boo hoo. The company I inherited has a bunch of old fogeys. Man up and get them retired now, and sell some advertising.
At least he falls for hunky Luke the fireman – whom he has hired to play Marcus, his firefighter beau.
Despite the fact that the attraction is real between them, spoiled little man is really adept at screwing up his relationships.
Will he really be so foolish as to let Luke get away? Can love happen anyway? Will they be able to hold onto it?
Hang on, read on – and find out if they can!

This book was adorable! I totally got the Pride and Prejudice vibe from it. Derek is totally awkward and quiet, which most people around him read as arrogance.
Luke is plucky and more outspoken. Together they end up making a great team.
This is an awesome holiday read because it isn’t a massive commitment, and not overly heavy.
This is a well written holiday romance between Derek and Luke. What starts as a business fake romance evolves into the real thing. The author does a great job building their relationship and giving them a simmering chemistry. It’s an emotional story , moves quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.

I liked the cute and silly premise. The characters were also rather sweet. I liked the mother and the way she tried to set up her son in the beginning. It reminded me of members of my family. I liked the dialogue.

This was a great holiday, fake boyfriend story. I wasn’t real sure about Derek for the beginning of the story. He’s very insecure at times, but he seems to grow emotionally as the story continues. Luke was great, he obviously has some of his own issues to deal with, but I think he really shines in how he brings out a better version of Derek.
For a story that starts with a fake relationship, this was actually pretty low on the angst. I was rather worried about how the Luke pretending to be Marcus element was going to work long-term, but I feel it was handled well.
A boyfriend for hire Christmas story. Derek who just inherit his family’s business around the holidays. Needs to hire someone to play a boyfriend named Marcus. And also to help with his parents coming to town for the holidays. So hires an escort named Luke who’s an exfirefighter. It was nice reading how this two tell in love .
