Previously titled A Little Too LateI wasn’t supposed to fall in love with the nanny. When my wife left, she took the illusion of happiness with her, and I’ve been caught in a free fall ever since. For nine long months, I’ve been fighting to figure out how to be a single dad, how to be alone. For nine long months, I’ve been failing. When Hannah walked through the door, I took my first breath since … through the door, I took my first breath since I’d found myself on my own. She slipped into our lives effortlessly, showing me what I’ve been missing all these years. Because Hannah made me smile when I thought I’d packed the notion of happiness away with my wedding album.
She was only supposed to be the nanny, but she’s so much more.
The day my wife left should have been the worst day of my life, but it wasn’t. It was when Hannah walked away, taking my heart with her.

Staci Hart’s slow-burn romance kept my heart in my throat and my eyes on the page to the very last word.
*4,5 stars*
Ever since I discovered this author, I fell for her books every single time. She has a way with words that is just so special you can’t get enough. This one was no different. And I know the author has moved to The Netherlands so you could really feel this when reading the story. It makes it a bit extra special ‘cuz I don’t live that far away and could relate 🙂 Definitely a story that will touch your heart!
When his wife walked out on him, Charlie has been left to care for his two children but with him working long hours and having an au-pair to care for them, he doesn’t feel like he’s a great father. He tries to do the best he can though but he never feels like it’s enough.
Hannah moved to the States to be an au-pair but when her current employer takes it a step too far, she ends up leaving and needs to find a job asap before she has to leave the country. When she founds herself on the doorstep of Charlie’s home, she doesn’t really find it’s a good idea she went through, but she doesn’t want to return home.
Maybe, just maybe, both are exactly what they need…
I adored Staci Hart’s “Love, Hannah,” an incredibly sweet, beautifully written story of two people finding each other and coming together to complete a family. Main characters Hannah and Charlie had a tough road to travel before arriving at their HEA, but their struggle was all worth it in the end.
Charlie was such a great guy, and I really empathized with his desire to do whatever was best for his kids even if it meant making difficult choices. Hannah was also quite lovely and turned out to be exactly the breath of fresh air Charlie and his kids needed after the toxic situation they were in with his ex-wife, Mary. Spending time with Charlie, Maven, and Sammy helped Hannah too; she needed a safe place to heal after being subjected to inappropriate advances from her previous employer. Both she and Charlie were hesitant to begin a romantic relationship, but found it difficult to resist their feelings for each other.
Overall, this was a wonderful story with a perfect ending, and I highly recommend it. I look forward to seeing what the next book in this series brings!
Loved this sweet story!
5 Loving Stars!!!
Staci Hart proves over and over again why she’s on my favorite author list who I don’t have to read the blurb to automatically buy the book.
Hannah moved to the USA from Holland and is working as an au pair. Her first job ended abruptly when she didn’t feel safe. Hannah needed a new case or she’d loose her working visa and have to go home. She lucked out when a new job opened up and needed her ASAP.
After the way Hannah left her last job she was nervous about going into this new one. The minute Hannah looked into Charlie’s eyes she knew he was a good guy, who loved his children and needed some help. Hannah grew attached to the children quickly. Charlie was another story. He was hot one minute and cold the next. But, she couldn’t help the attraction she had to him.
Charlie loved his kids. But, he doesn’t know how to take care of them. When his wife picked up one day without a word and went on with her life like they didn’t exist he didn’t know what to do next. He spent more and more hours in the office everyday. Until Hannah walked into their lives. Now he finds himself wanting to spend more time at home with her and his children. But, since his wife left he has a hard time trusting people. They both have secrets and if Charlie doesn’t learn to trust he could loose her.
I absolutely loved this story. Hannah was trying to start over from scratch in America. Then she came across a bad man and she ran. Working for Charlie and taking care of the kids was pretty much her second chance. Falling in love with Charlie was a plus. The minute he was told that he was going to be a father he enters his own prison. His children were the best part for him. When he met Hannah he fell in love like he never has before and for the first time he was loved back.
Once I picked this book up it ended up like every other Staci Hart book that I’ve read. It was me laying wrapped in my blanket reading until I’m done. Staci Hart continues to prove over and over again that she’s a must read author! Every book lover needs to know who she is and get on the Staci Hart bandwagon like I am
My first read by Stacie Hart what can I say but she knows what she is doing.
This story is a a classic contemporary romance that is beautiful and keeps the pages turning. It gives you all the feels the romance the swoon its heartfelt. You get caught up in the pages and drawn into the story.
The hero Charlie is broken and Hannah is what brings him back to life. She is everything a heroine should be strong, Kind and humble. They balance each other.
With out giving away to much this story is worth reading it wont disappoint. I loved this book and can’t wait to read more from her.
So for those of you that will scratch your heads trying to remember, Elliot was Mary’s sister and the female lead in A Thousand Words. If you haven’t read it, you absolutely should. I can’t even tell you how much other than to say Staci Hart will destroy your heart in the best of ways. Those that have read it, know exactly what I mean.
It took me a few minutes and a glimpse at my review of Thousand to remember but when the lightbulb light, I was good to go.
A Little Too Late is everything you expect from Staci Hart. It is emotional, sweet, and has you begging for more while hoping for less hurt. Be ready for a case of the feels…
Innocent beauty, harsh reminders, and reality are not the best mx. However, berries, lemon, and cheese appears to be a big seller. With my dreams of visiting this kind of bakery, i can only hope its on the same block as Wasted Words.
I cannot tell you enough how much I loved this book, the outcome, and the high I had once I finished it.
It’s worth every penny even if you think it’s…a Little Too Late. sigh, just sigh.

Actual Rating 2.5
I wanted to like this book as this was my first official read by Staci Hart, but I just couldn’t do it. A Little Too Late got my attention due to being about a single father and a nanny. I have to admit Hannah was perfect(probably a little too perfect) with the kids and baked with them. The kids loved her and I have to admit I love reading about moments like that with kids in books. But unfortunately, that was the only thing I liked about this book.
I wanted to like Charlie and Hannah, but I never really connected with them. I think the things that happened with Charlie’s wife was messed up, but it sounds like he was working too much to notice. I felt bad for the things that happened with Hannah’s old employer, but it seriously made me angry that she did not file a report against him, especially when he started stalking her. The relationship with the two mc’s was whatever to me. I didn’t like that they never trusted one another, kept secrets and got angry at the other for keeping things from them. This is very true of Hannah when she gets angry at Charlie for keeping meetings he had with his wife from her, when she was keeping things from him too.
There was also quite a bit of drama. Mostly in the form of Charlie’s wife Mary making a reappearance. I did not like this woman at all. She basically wanted her family back after abandoning them when she realizes she has nothing and it looks like someone is sliding into a place she thought was always going to be open to her. She was annoying. There was also the ex employer thing with Hannah. It made me mad that she didn’t tell Charlie that he popping up in places she’d been. She should have told him because it could have possibly endangered his kids which everyone ignored. I didn’t like Hannah’s friend either, she gave her bad advice and had the nerve to be angry with Charlie when Hannah tucks tail and runs. Girl please.
A Little Too Late is very well written and I love how Staci Hart writes. There were only a few things I liked about this book, while the rest was very boring. I couldn’t bring myself to like this book at all. I will give her books another try though.
First of all, A Little Too Late is most definitely a slow burn book. I say that because I know that a lot of people look for things quickly and everything about this book is a slow burn but it’s worth the wait.
Falling in love with the nanny is supposed to be taboo, right? Then when did the entire time I was reading this book did I feel like it was absolutely the right thing to do? It’s because Staci Hart writes her stories and her characters with so much depth that you constantly feel for them. No, scratch that. You constant feel WITH them. From the moment Hannah and Charlie met, I knew they were destined for each other and I knew it was going to be a difficult road.
Charlie has buried himself in work for the past 2 years nonstop. He’s coming off of a divorce and raising two young children. However, he has others really do it for him. He wants to be involved but is so far lost he isn’t sure. When Hannah walks into the door and shows him what’s he’s been missing, it’s like a light bulb went off. Now he just has to figure out the major war in his head on how he can achieve this happiness he didn’t know existed and was starving for. Watching Charlie fall for Hannah and truly become the father he always was but just got a bit lost was absolutely heart melting.
Hannah was a tough one for me to figure out but from the moment I was introduced to her, I knew I would like her. At the beginning she is represented as shy and demure and while that is true to an extend, I couldn’t wait to see where she would go. In the end, she is a gentle and beautiful soul full of patience, love and passion. She’s perfect for Charlie and the kids and I enjoyed watching her grow into their love and be bold with who she is and what she wanted.
A Little Too Late is a beautiful semi second chance romance full of love and passion. If you are looking for a slow burn that will capture your heart and force you to fall in love with the characters, then this is the book for you.
“Sometimes, things would happen when nothing happened at all.”
This was my first book by Staci and I’m pretty impressed. Staci has a wonderful way working with words. The story she tells is heartbreaking. To me it felt very real and raw, nothing fancy or over the top. The characters are all down to earth and easy to fall in love with.
A Little too Late is a story about working through hurt, betrayal, loss and finding a way back to love, trust, life.
“You don’t have to be afraid.” “I wasn’t – until I had something to lose.”
Sometimes, we find ourselves in a situation we couldn’t do much to prevent it. You feel lost, you close up and you end up like a shell of your former self, struggling to stay on top of things life is throwing at you. And then fate brings an angel to you. I believe honestly, that there are people on earth who were sent by god just to show others hope and help them back to the light.
The pace of the story is slow but steady. We learn a lot about what hurt feels like and what betrayal can do to you. We learn how hard it is to fight yourself back to life. It’s intense but every time Hannah is in the picture, you feel what Charlie is feeling, her pure presence in my mind made me smile.
Be prepared for a book that makes your heart ache, it breaks and mends it at the same time.
“I only want to make you happy. I only want to give you all of me – my heart, my life, my love. Will you let me?”
Staci, you created something pure and beautiful with this book. Thank you for that!
“And when I had filled her, when there was no space between us, skin to skin, heart to heart, I was whole. I was home.”
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this beautiful book.
I was so looking forward to reading Charlie’s story, and I was not disappointed! This story of Charlie and Hanna was gripping, it really grabbed me from the get go. The sweet, simplicity of Hanna, her inner strength was stellar. Charlie’s broken soul was moving and the way he becomes whole again, with Hannah’s help, was perfect, messy perfection! Thank you for your words Staci!
Staci Hart knows how to give us the sweet and emotional. A Little Too Late is both and then some. This latest release gives us the story of a character we met and fell in love with in A Thousand Letters.
Charlie has been trying to raise his kids by himself ever since his wife Mary walked away. He is struggling to be there for them and to continue with his long hours at the office. Feeling like a failure, he decides to hire a nanny to help him out. It ends up being the best decision he ever made, even if he doesn’t realize it at first.
Hannah is from Holland and moved to America to get away and start over. After her first job as a nanny didn’t end so well, she is reluctant to try again. She needs the job to be able to follow her dream of becoming a baker so she accepts. When she meets Charlie and his two adorable children, she knows that she is exactly where she is meant to be. They grow close, becoming almost a family. But when Charlie’s past comes back, they might be over before they truly get a chance to begin.
I absolutely love Charlie. He tries so hard and runs himself ragged. He is a kind and caring man who didn’t deserve to be dismissed and treated the way he was by his ex. Having Hannah in his life made him a better man and father. She is the reason he was able to move beyond Mary’s betrayal and love again.
This a beautiful and sweet love story. It’s not a perfect love story, they have obstacles to overcome, but it’s real. Charlie and Hannah both need to heal and trust again. They are able to do this together, Hannah heals him and he does the same for her. The writing is poetic and lyrical. It mesmerizes you and makes you feel the emotion of these broken personalities. I was enamored from the start and could not put this book down. FIVE stars!
