Chris Nicholson is a teacher and a widow of 4 years. She and her daughter (Audrey) spend Christmas with her family in her hometown just a few hours away from her current home. Audrey is wishing for a new dad for Christmas from Santa. Chris has a spotless clean cut image, as she brings this up several times.
Greg Reynolds also is coming home to visit his parents for Christmas before he goes back to the pentagon to work. Chris and Greg went to high school and briefly dated. Greg has a more daring personality than Chris. They are trying to have a fling. She wants to get over her dead husband and does do that. For Greg it was supposed to be just a brief relationship and then back to normal life. He has been married twice and has a teenage daughter. He is as unsuccessful with his personal life as he is successful in his work career. Up until this point in his life he has been pretty happy being by himself and did not feel like he was missing much. Will the third time be the charm for him? They have some wild adventures in the bedroom for the clean cut Chris. Can they be what the other needs?
I have read the other two books in this series and they are all standalones and easy to read without reading the others. No getting lost or trying to play catch up. While the ending of this story was sweet and made it worth the read the in-between just was okay for me. I guess the characters changed so fast it was harder for me to believe. The story may be more intriguing to another reader. It was good writing I easily could imagine the people in the book. I would read the next book in the series if there is one.

Chris Adams Nicholson, a widow with a six-year-old daughter, is spending the holidays with her family. Major Greg Reynolds is a twice-divorced absentee father who dated her back in high school. Sparks fly for an illicit fling, but Chris doesn’t consider him “daddy” material and he agrees. But can they put the brakes on this short interval and go back to the way things were? Good story and character development. A must read! I received this book for free from ebBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
A second chance romance, one that is not for the faint of heart as it does get graphic in parts. Chris is a widow with a six-year-old daughter, barely getting by as she mourns all she has lost. She is partly angry with Mark for leaving her with the burden of child-rearing on her own, but mostly she is desperately lonely. Adding her prayers to her daughter’s, Chris is not prepared for the reappearance of her high school boyfriend on Christmas Eve, nevertheless, she spontaneously offers to assist him. The chemistry that had been alive between two teenagers is suddenly off the charts and as Greg challenges her at every turn, Chris finds herself questioning everything in her life. Greg, the soldier, is a dominant male and one with a history of failed relationships. Chris, on the other hand, is a teacher in a small conservative community and feels locked into a narrow band of choices. As Greg teases and taunts her into reevaluating her life, he doesn’t get off lightly as the man who has determined never to marry again suddenly finds himself wanting more from a relationship. I was uncomfortable with many of the bedroom scenes in this book but was happy to see that Chris wasn’t the only one being challenged and that Greg was forced to assess his life as well. The novel is a standalone and comes to a charming conclusion, but needs to come with an age restriction. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review.
