Lovable story of an intelligent, independent and self-assured woman!
A good, easy to read story. I liked the moral of working as a team and not a dictator to help get results. Also opening yourself up for change.
Love it
I like plot of the book. I have learned about management of baseball team. I love the heroine in this book. She is smart, kind and she loves her parents. It was fun to read.
Very informative and astute info about baseball. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Good read!
I could never figure out if I liked the main characters or not. They both had faults and secrets and trust issues. It is a nice quick summer read.
Very good book
Loved the way the story developed and the characters
I loved the characters and the story
Loved it.
A fun story of a baseball behind the scenes. Predictable but fun.
While I did enjoy this story I have to admit that it took me until about the 40% mark to really get into it. The book started out with good intentions. However the start was a lot about the baseball side of it and less about the actual hero and heroine. It was all that baseball talk that made it hard for me to really enjoy. Around the 40% mark the H/h started to really get somewhere and I started to feel the relationship develop. I also found it hard to really take a liking to Lucas. He was a little closed off and hard. Miranda was sweet and caring with to much stress and pressure on her shoulders. Good book, good concept, wish there was more detail into their relationship
Miranda Callahan is the President of Major League Baseball team, the Georgia Knights. Her father owns the team & is driving it into the ground, until he has a heart attack. Miranda has to take over & begins to make changes to try to reverse the downfall. Lucas Wainright is sent by the Commissioner to consult & try to help them meet the payments due on a loan. Lucas’s dad owned the team until he was diagnosed with cancer & sold out to Miranda’s father. Can Miranda turn the team around? Will her father let her? Is there something going on that Lucas & the Commissioner don’t want the Knights to know? What about the chemistry between Lucas & Miranda?
Whew! What a great storyteller! Ms. Ryder has an excellent narrative that pulls you into the plot & characters from the beginning & makes you fall in love with them. As the reader, you can sense Miranda’s turmoil & frustration at having her hands tied by her father. He’s proud she’s not just a pretty face & has her MBA but doesn’t treat her like it. Her feelings for Lucas box her into a corner due to the animosity between him & her father. Her mother uses guilt to make her do what she wants. The one character I wasn’t sure I liked was Miranda’s mother. It seemed like she was willing to do anything, including throwing her daughter under the bus, to make sure her husband survived. The supporting characters are realistic & well developed. The plot reflects the tension & interactions between the characters . I really enjoyed this book & would recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance, baseball & moderate sex.
