Have you heard about the one where Prince Charming falls for the Ugly Stepsister?Darby Livingston is a survivor. If she can survive breast cancer, she can survive the humiliation of accidently flashing her pink panties to a stranger. A sexy doesn’t believe in fairy tales stranger called Reid. Reid is the key to making Darby’s amateur theater production of Cinderella a success, so she’ll swallow … Cinderella a success, so she’ll swallow her pride and beg, bribe, or use her feminine wiles to secure his help, because the play’s donation to a cancer charity means everything to her.
Reid Hudson is used to being judged and ridiculed for his ability to sew amazing wedding gowns for Invercargill’s boutique bridal shop, Next Stop Vegas. Whatever. He’s a man who knows who he is and what he wants in life. But on the list of things Reid Hudson doesn’t want… A) To be roped into costume-making for a cast of wanna-be divas. B) To discover an off-the-charts attraction with the play’s Ugly Stepsister, Darby. And C) To fall in love with that feisty and funny woman who has no guarantee of a happy ever after.
Along with her terrier side-kick, Duke, can Darby convince nude celebs Reid that if the shoe/slipper fits, maybe she’s The One he’s been looking for all along?

Love Everlasting by Tracey Alvarez
Stewart Island #10
Every single book I have read by this author is a keeper and one that I will revisit. Her characters are people I would love to meet and spend time and the nice thing is that I can do just that when I sit down and read the words that have been written.
One is not given guarantees in life so one should focus on the present and make each day worth living – and that is just what Darby is doing. Sure, she has had to deal with breast cancer but she has done all that was recommended and lived four years after her diagnosis BUT she is not “cancer free” and that puts a kibosh on her search for a long term happily ever after. She has friends and family and a support group and is not “that cancer girl” that so many who have cancer become. She has dreams and wants romance and all the rest but…is she brave enough to risk love? She would love that fairy tale ending but kind of doubts she will get it.
Reid Hudson is a man among men. He can create beautiful couture clothing, plan and execute a wedding and is a wonderful friend. He is also gorgeous, built and HOT! He is definitely a keeper. What starts out as working together to create the costumes for a charity drama event and ball soon leads to more hands on interaction and not hands on fabric. With both Reid and Darby feeling the chemistry but realizing that the future is uncertain…what will they decide to do?
This story was absolutely wonderful and such a joy to read. I loved Darby and Reid and hoped they would find a way to a future together and was so thankful they had good friends to support them. I also liked how Prince Charming in the play wasn’t so charming and just how his underbelly was revealed.
I can’t wait to read whatever this author writes next and highly recommend this to everyone.
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
Love Everlasting is yet another great book from Tracey Alvarez. She always delivers stories that have heart and make you fall in love with the characters like no other.
I loved Reid and Darby. They were both perfect. I really felt for Darby and was rooting for them from the beginning. This story was just amazing.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I thought that this book turned out to be a good balance between lightheartedness and heavy hearted. This book is a good one to read on how to handle your fear of being in a relationship that you know might be short from the start. Darby has had breast cancer and is now on the road to being cancer free, but in the back of her mind is the knowledge that cancer could come back at any time. Darby is involved in a production of Cinderella to help raise money for Sunflower House which is a place for women with cancer to stay and recover. Darby thinks that she wants to be with Hugh, Prince Charming, and tries to gain his attention. Then she is asked to meet with Reid and get him to help design and sew the costumes for the production with her help as Darby knows how to do some sewing. At the first meeting with Reid, Darby’s skirt splits and shows a little more than Darby would like, but Reid is nice about it and offers her a pair of his sweats while he fixes her skirt. The chemistry between the two builds from there, but Reid backs off some when he first learns that Darby is recovering from cancer, because it hasn’t been that long since he watched his mother die from it. Fortunately, one’s heart doesn’t always listen to one’s head and love blooms amidst the fear and second guesses, however for that love to continue to grow each person has to confront their fear and choose whether to battle it or give in to it. Read this wonderful story and see what Darby and Reid decide to do.
As a long time fan of Tracey Alvarez, I believe this is her best story. I laughed, cried, and wanted to shake some sense into them.
This is book 10 in the Stewart Island series and it features Reid and Darby. Cancer is the elephant in the room in this steamy, funny, yet sometimes serious romantic story. The fear of losing someone to it. The fear of having it or getting it again. These two have had a tough journey individually. Wouldn’t it be better together? Fear has a funny way of preventing that from happening.
This is another fabulous story with characters I’d love to have as my own friends. The story had me hooked from beginning to end. I always love revisiting old friends and it was wonderful to see Joe and MacKenna again. As always, I look forward to the next book!
A wonderfully enjoyable, romantic, and captivating read. She’s so silly and yet lovely. He’s a dream sensitive guy. Wonderful together and their HEA left me smiling. Loved it.
I laughed out loud with this book. Darby is written to perfection. Sexual situations and a happily ever after ending. Strong characters with great dialogue. Well worth adding to your reading list.
I don’t tell you about the plot in my reviews. I let you know how the book made me feel and if it’s worth your time. This book is worth your time. Tracey opened my eyes in some ways and I appreciate it.
Cute, fun read (especially since the book was free). The characters are likeable and it’s a mostly realistic story. A nice, easy read.
All the feels in this one!! A great read!
Fun book
I really wanted to like this, but it was a struggle in the middle to finish but I did.
Darby is a cancer survivor and hoping to be declared cancer free. Reid watched his mom die from cancer, and isn’t ready to face the loss of someone he loves. But the connection is too strong, and — after some struggles and stubmbles, they are ready to make a go of things.
A quick relaxing read with wonderful characters and entertaining storyline.
Too much explicite sex
At about 50% there is a laugh out loud awesomely written section with the animals. There is more animal humor throughout. Heartwarming moments. Both work to come to terms with the after effects and fears of cancer. All wrapped up in a Cinderella stage play. Those of you who have done amateur theatre, please set aside what you know.
Author did a good job with the characters and their feelings.
Just Couldn’t get interested just quit.
Darby is taking it one day at a time after her battle with cancer. She puts on a feisty front but a lot of fear and rejection lies underneath. A vet nurse by day and amateur actor by night. In the hunt for costumes she is directed towards Reid, a wedding planner and machinist.
Reid has suffered his own heartache and has avoided relationships. Fate however, had it’s own ideas……
Loved this story! So sweet. Just the right amount of everything.
