Have you ever loved someone so much that it was almost an obsession? Crazy, uncontrolled, drunk out of your mind love? This book took me on one heck of a ride and I didn’t have time to put on my seatbelt. Intense, dark, beautiful, head turning good.
Drunk love indeed! T.L Smith delivers a book that describes perfectly what happens when you are so captivated with someone that is not good for you or that you feel you shouldn’t want. The drunk stage where you don’t care what other says, you want it like the air you breath. To say the relationship between the characters is complicated well… is not complicated it’s explosive, hot and consuming. It does end with a cliffhanger that made me scream and ask WHY! My dark queen knows how to leave you wanting more. 5-I’m drunk on love-stars
So first I was like yessss and then I was like Ohhh and then I was like whaaaaaat and then I was like oh hell nah and then I was like hmm and then the book ended on a cliffhanger. I NEED TO KNOW!! 5 stars, duh, it’s TL Smith.
3.5 stars
God there is so much I want to say about this book but nowhere would publish my review because the tirade of swearwords would be far too much. I have nothing nice to say and I really don’t want to be like that.
This is the first book by this author that I didn’t really gel with. I hated the main characters. Gunner was just a total pig and I found nothing endearing about this man. I mean we love to hate the arrogance in most men but he was on a scale all on his own.
Everly for me was totally weak to the point I wanted to slap some sense into her. She had no fight and just bowed to pressure. She was walked over by Gunner and I hated that about this story.
Now I know, I don’t have the full story and I know my views will change when I get the second book, Hate Sober. I know there will be reasons for all the actions I don’t understand now. And that’s why I will wait to give my full verdict once the duet is complete.
I don’t know what else to say about this story or the characters so I won’t say anymore. I’ll comeback to give my opinion when the next book drops.
My heart was racing after Gunnar and Everlys intense emotional broken beautiful heart stopping love story
so ready for more now
Well, this is not a story that I was expecting. It has so many twists and turns to keep you on your toes and blows your mind. I adored Everly and her spunk. But with Gunner, she is in a swirl of literally love drunk, like the title is. He appeals to her senses in every way. But when things implode and secrets are exposed, Everly doesn’t know what to do anymore. Because of tradition and other things, she finds herself locked into this new world that she doesn’t know how she can survive. Then you have that ending… omg…. That is about all I can say. There is so much in this book that I just want to say but spoilers! It is one of those books that will drag you in and devour you whole and when it is over, you are begging for the second book, like I am right now! I need to know what will happen.
Where do I begin. I love the anticipation i feel whenever a T. L. Smith book is about to be released. I know it will have a razor sharp edge. I know the passion will have me red faced and breathless. I know I will be glued to the pages from start to finish. What I can NEVER truly anticipate, is the way it will make me feel and the tailspin it sends me in trying to find something to captivate me afterwards. I fell hard for this story and all that it was. The characters were confronting, yet mesmirising.
The evolution of their story was tense and dramatic. The main man was hard, unforgiving and dominant. The main lady was sassy and while she was not ready for everything that was her man, she was up for the challenge. Enigmatic, soul burning attraction, resentment, reliance and so much more were some of the things which ambushed me as a reader. All those feelings at once were breathtaking, and left me deliriously happy. 5 stars for this stellar read.
Obsessive Love
He’s the wolf and she’s his prey. A dark and dirty love story with a man that dominates and takes posession and woman who is reluctant to embrace her desire for the depraved.
They met in a bar. They couldn’t contain their attraction. Lust turned to love. Love became obsession. Obsession morphed to ownership. Love can turn toxic.
He had secrets. He hid part of himself. He made her promise forever before he showed all of himself.
She’s bound to him with a vow of forever. There is no out in their world. He’ll do anything to keep her. She’s battling between her own need for him and losing herself.
Is love enough?
I definitely was captivated by this story. I questioned their relationship as it developed. Was it good or bad? He was an enigma that drew you in like a moth to a flame. She was an independent woman who became consumed. Their chemistry was INTENSE. But, everyone reaches a limit for what they are willing to sacrifice.
I want more! I have no idea what’s next. I am totally torn with what I want to happen. I loved him. I hated him. I need book two!
Everything about this book is dark and intense, including the mysterious Gunner. There are so many secrets being kept by the characters within these pages. Nothing is quite what it seems, and the independent, beautiful Everly has her work cut out discerning fact from fiction.
The author has created a fascinating story centred around the burning desires experienced by Gunner and Everly, and the devastating deceptions that put all the plans and machinations of those involved at risk. I loved all the intrigue and complexity surrounding Gunner, and it was a refreshing change to find a heroine who stays true to their values and choices.
An addictive and suspenseful read. I can’t wait to find out how it will all end … I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.
Urrggghhh!!! I’m frustrated, intrigued and tied up in a mess of knots by this story!
Did I love it or did I hate it?
I’m struggling to work out which, and at the very same time I’m itching to get my hands on the Hate Sober, the conclusion to this Love Me Duet, to find out where the author is going to take this story next.
TL Smith loves to throw her characters from pillar to the post, and as such drags her readers along for the ride and to this effect Love Drunk does just that!
Both characters swing you between them in your allegiance as the story progresses, and the cliff hanger ending will leave you still undecided just who you are rooting for.
I have to say though that I am pretty firmly in camp Gunner, despite him being such a classic A-hole, even more than any of her characters Smith has previously written, and some of them are downright evil. He just has an aloof but seductive persona and charm that draws you in, despite his unveiled cruelty.
The other reason I’m siding with Gunner? That is Everly.
She was just too naive, too mercurial in her thoughts and actions for me to ever really be on her side. I just struggled to “get her” as a character.
I really wanted her to either be a stronger heroine, one who is worthy of Gunner’s attention and a fitting rival for him, or at least more convincingly innocent, the sheltered docile ‘Daddy’s Little Girl’ who is fully accepting of her family’s tradition and expectation.
But she is too confusingly neither one or the other and that had me firmly siding with the bad guy.
That coupled with a little too brief a back story and the repetition of her inner monologue, had me almost tempted to put this one down.
Thankfully though, I was more invested once their connection and Alec’s involvement and relationship are divulged as things heat up towards the end, and as such cannot wait for the second book’s release to see what the author has in store for this trio!
OMG. This is so good and addictive in a dark twisted way. One word Gunner on my word he is delicious and such a huge presence in this story. From the moment Everly meets him she becomes consumed by everything about him can’t say I blame her really. A story of secrets that trap Everly before she realises she is a pawn in a game she knows nothing about.
It doesn’t surprise me that this author has written a twisted addictive story with a male character who may divide readers. A seductive thrilling dark story with a cliffy that left me panting for more Gunner.
Oh. My. Goodness. What a start to another surefire hit duet from the pen of TL Smith. This book sees the author back to her dark and delicious best.
Step into a world of old family values, a seedy underworld hiding behind a smart veneer, arranged marriages and an illusion of free will where none exists.
Everly is the only daughter of the man who runs and owns the town where they live. Groomed from a young age into a life of control, she falls for the most darkly beautiful man she’s ever met.
Gunner Reid is the epitome of the dark and brooding antihero that TL Smith writes so well. He has a formidable and controlling edge to him that appeals to Everly, but it’s only the tip of the iceberg. His predilections know no bounds and once Everly discovers just how black his persona is, she’s conflicted.
How can she love something she professes to hate? How can he love her when he treats her the way he does? Despite all evidence to the contrary, you just know that the author will find a way to make him understandable, maybe even loveable.
The book ends on the mother of all cliffhangers, with a twist I didn’t see coming. Part two of the duet, Hate Sober, can’t land in my Kindle quickly enough. I need more Gunner in my life. Five darkly wicked stars.
Everything about this book had me hooked from beginning and I really could not just get enough of these two at all. These two were seriously amazing and had my heart and just everything to me. I truly can not wait for the second book for more.
Bravo T.L Smith, you have me craving more.
Have you ever been so Drunk In Love that you loose all sense of self? That feeling of drowning in love so much that you’re so captivated by someone that is not necessarily all that good for you? It’s that feeling of euphoria, that feeling that makes you all tingly inside. It’s the goosebumps you feel when you see someone you feel so intently for, someone who was near perfect…..until they weren’t. Only then, you’re so Love Drunk that you fail to listen to your head and fall deeper into your heart.
This is how Love Drunk made me feel….
Im always blown away at how T.L. Smith’s latest words can top the previous ones but this book, this book gave me a multitude of FEELINGS. I’ve never been rooting for a guy so much that I also wanted to punch him in the face. Gunner is an enigma, a dark yet delicious one. I wanted to gain access inside his head to see what he was thinking, what was going through his mind. I’m going to say we are so not finished with his story, I’m not ashamed to say that I’m still in some small ounce of my soul banking on the fact he’s severely misunderstood. As much as I loved him I both hated him as well.
Everly was a soul in pursuit of love, not a perfect love but a consuming one. What she got was so much more consuming than she ever could have expected. When you try to figure out someone that’s not used to being challenged or questioned you may just get more than you bargained for! I’m dying to find out more backstory on these two leads. I know Hate Sober will absolutely be the perfect final piece in this Duet. I’m ready for more.
I thoroughly enjoyed being captivated by these two leads throughout this book. I love a book that keeps me second guessing, a book you cannot put down because you need to know more. If you love Angst then this is the perfect next read for you.
Love Drunk is the first book in the duet series Love Me by T.L. Smith. It looks at the really fast get together of Everly and Gunner. When I say fast, I mean they get together and are married within three months but not everything is what it seems. Everly is the quintessential sweet girl, brought up by Greek parents, she believes in the happily ever afters and is quite happy (to some extent) of having an arranged marriage, but that’s before she meets Gunner who changes everything for her. Gunner is an enigma, he is broody, dark and borders on masochistic. You never get too much out of him and he honestly doesn’t treat Everly very nice and although at times she does stand up for herself, it seems to come as too little too late.
This book has lots of sexy scenes and the beginning of the story sees the development of their relationship and then secrets coming to light. The concept of the arranged marriage is intriguing but you also a bit archaic in the sense that Everly has no say what so ever and when she does stand up for herself either with her father or with Gunner, everything seems to be taken away from her. Gunner’s darkness is also intriguing, especially when you find out how he has become that was and he does bring up the darker side of BDSM which some people may be uncomfortable with.
There are a lot of twists and turns in this book, especially throughout the second half where Gunner seems top do a 180, but you’re also expecting it. You also tend to read this book pretty quick to see what is going to happen and it will be interesting to see what happens with the Everly, Gunner, Alec love triangle which is highlighted throughout the book. The book does end with a cliff-hanger and I am interested to see what happens next and fingers crossed that Everly will start to slap come people up in the head!
If you like dark, intriguing twists and turns in your reading material, then this is certainly the book for you!
ARC received for a fair and honest review.

T.L. Smith has blown me away again! It’s one of those books where you say one more chapter and then finish it just before 1:00am. That’s how good it was! It pulled me in page after page and now she has left me with such a book hangover. I want more. I need more. Waiting for book 2 is going to be painful.
If you are looking for a wild ride with lots of twists and turns, along with hot as sin moments, Preorder it now!
It is not unusual that I have completely mixed feelings when I finish a TL Smith book, and this one is no exception. Honestly, I know for a fact she does this on purpose to her readers – she thrives on the chaos! This one also comes with ALL the trigger warnings.
I’m reserving final judgement until I get a chance to finish Hate Sober but right now, I’m at 3.5 stars because the story is engaging, even though it gave me uncomfortable, rage feels.
Gunner. Oh man where to start. I know many will swoon over him but honestly, I don’t like him at all. He’s a hateful bully and honestly goes so far into psychopath territory sometimes I was cringing HARD. Everly comes across as totally spineless and I wanted to shake her constantly. I’m struggling at this point to call what they have love. This is an abusive relationship and I’m not sure I understand.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
One month, I fell for him.
Two, I was a goner.
Three, I was a daydreamer.
But by the fourth, it was a nightmare.
Everything came in beats.
Beat one-fantasy.
Beat two-admission.
Beat three-love.
But it’s the fourth beat that completely ruined me.
Beat.
Beat.
Beat.
With a shattered heart.
He was my nightmare.
Love Drunk is the first book in the Love Me Duet from T.L. Smith. Holy cow what a book this is and it is one your not going to be able to put down. This book is very intense and when you finish it your going to want the second book but more than that your head is going to be all over the place. This is the story of Everly and Gunner and just live Everly your going to fall so in love with him. Everly has always wanted a consuming love and she finds just that and so much more. Gunner is a dark character. He has a story to tell and I just know that it is going to be amazing. I can not wait to get Hate Sober in my hands and find out the rest of this story. There is so much story that I know is just going to blow us all away. Bravo T.L. Smith. This one will go down as one of my favorites of this year.
Gunner Reid has secrets yet to be fully exposed. He is a complex dominating man that will leave you wanting to hate him, but I found myself captivated by him.
Everly Thorne has always known since she was a young girl that her life’s choices were never going to be her own. Fated to a arranged marriage by a tradition contact that was installed on her grandfather, after events not yet fully revealed. What Everly wasn’t expecting was to fall in love so blindly that she was prepared to go against her family only to have it shatter her when some of the truths are discovered. Everly’s life has become a life not her own. I thoughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next book.
Holy cow, that ending. This all consuming story. So many thoughts and emotions swirling right now. Every girl wants the fairy tale. To meet the one person who makes you love drunk, but what happens if it is all an illusion?.
Every is a pawn that she never knew she was. Caught up in Gunner and in love, she realizes too late to stop the freight train her life is running on.
I shouldn’t be surprised because T.L. Smith writes stories that I never see coming, but duck me in anyway. I cannot wait for the follow up to this duet
