This series has to be one of my favorites I’ve read. It’s brilliant and witty with colorful and intricate characters and situations that not only take us on an exciting adventure but teach us about ourselves and the delicate balance needed to care for our environment.
Reed Stanley volunteers to stay at the drought-ridden farm with Jennifer Tate to help care for the occupants of the farmhouse until his brother and their group are able to bring assistance to rescue all of them. But as things progress, they find themselves wondering if they’ll survive long enough to be rescued as water continues to be depleted and their food supply nears an end. And on top of all of this, Jennifer has a secret she shares with only one other person. She and the real Jennifer Tate traded genetic material, so they could go undercover in an attempt to try to figure out a way to alter the changes happening with the environment and save mankind. Underneath it all, she I Valerie Acton. The problem is that the real Jennifer Tate was Reed’s girlfriend at one time, and she died in a tragic accident.
The web of deceit and government cover-ups grows thicker as the story continues, and I found myself stuck between anger at the characters one minute and cheering them on in the next. It is such an amazing take on global warming and environmental neglect, and I have to admit that I learned so much along with following these young characters who are simply looking for a solution to the problems caused over the years and fighting for survival in the interim. It was fascinating and exciting and non-stop, and I found it to be infinitely unique. Though this is the last book in the trilogy, I don’t think the author will be able to leave some of these characters alone. And I’m looking forward to learning more about each and every one of them in future stories.
“Arid Alarm” was a great conclusion for the series Climatic Climacteric. Told from the POVs of Reed and Jennifer (really Val). The characters Reed and Jen/Val has great chemistry and will keep you on your toes as a reader throughout their whole relationship. The story is well written by author L.B. Carter and has plenty of action and adventure as Reed and Jen/Val try to find their friends/family and save humanity. Don’t miss this great conclusion.
Worst of the three books in this series. Gave NO hope for our world’s survival.
This one continues the story from the previous books and provides the conclusion for this crazy adventure. We are getting Reed and Jen/Val’s POV in this installment. It’s mentioned really early on that Jen is actually the real Val, and Reed’s dead girlfriend Val was actually the real Jen. So, yeah, there’s some weird stuff going on with that. Reed and Jen/Val were left in the last book to help take care of a couple of older people that couldn’t take care of themselves while the rest of the group tried to get Sirena to safety. Things do not exactly go very well; especially with water and food being very difficult to come by; the Earth is not a happy camper. Reed and Real Val have to go through some very dangerous things; luckily, Reed and Real Val are both tough and try to keep positive with some sassy banter.
Reed is a charmer with some jerk thoughts, who has been greatly affected by the death of his girlfriend. Real Val is super sassy; she stands up for herself and keeps Reed on his toes. These two are survivors; they definitely aren’t perfect and can be annoying at times, but they try. This whole group has been through so much in this series so far, and this book has them going through so much more. Entertaining, crazy adventure this whole series has been!
Set aside a day for this third installment of Climatic Climacteric Omnibus which starts when Jennifer Tate and Reed Stanley are still at the Juarez farmhouse. NC17 with some laugh-out-loud funny parts. I had an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
I LOVE this book and this author! SO fantastic!
Omg such a great book. I loved it. All the action, romance, and humor. I am a little sad that it’s the final book too this series. I just wanted too keep reading. Great job L.B.
