Quick Rock Read
I always like when one of the bandmates hooks up with the manager and can’t wait to see where the author takes this. This one was quick and I wasn’t sure who I actually liked whether it was the drummer Felix or the boss’s daughter Sadie. Who doesn’t love a rock star…even when they are *sses?!
I read this author’s next rocker book and try to get my rock star fix.
I had a hard time getting this story started. I felt it was a bit emotionless. Sadie was focused on getting her father’s approval and nod for the CEO position. I liked her determination to succeed but also her willingness to seize an opportunity. Felix could be a bit of a jerk but he had his moments of protectiveness and chivalry. Mistrust was overcome by love in the end.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
Love Defies Us is a rockstar contemporary romance, told in first person dual pov which is my favourite. The synopsis sounded intriguing and I was looking forward to reading it. For me, the beginning started a bit slow but picked up quickly. I relished the unexpected twists that came one after another and a satisfying hea that leads into the next novel in the series. Character’s are engaging and getting a bit of their background on them was entertaining to read about. A swift read with plenty of sultry moments, along with sweet ones.
*First time reading author
I am not a big reader on rock star books since they are usually heavy on being dic*s, have drug problems, and horrible to a woman. Love Defies Us had some of that but was in parts a decent story. I had issues with editing and very rushed.
The story is there, this book just needs to be gone through and maybe slowed down, chemistry needs to be met better, and Felix needs to be toned down to not be maybe such an as*. This doesn’t mean other people won’t enjoy this book. I just didn’t enjoy it as much as I wish I could.
This is by first book by J.M. and I throughly enjoyed it. It was hot and sexy and emotional. It was also a fast read for me I wish it was longer and had a longer story line because it had such a solid base to make it a longer more fulfilling book for me. But overall it was a great book. And I’m just being picking because I never want books to end and just want as much information as I can get from them. Felix and Sadie was so dynamic that they could have pulled it off. And they were perfect counterparts to each other. I am definitely invested in this series even though this is book 1 and will continue to wait for the next books and find out about the rest of the band. I will also check out more books by J.M. as I enjoyed her writing style as well. Definitely a one click book!! – By Tina
This book was a quick read, this is the story of Felix, and Sadie. When Sadie takes over her Dad’s record label, she forced to deal with the sexy new drummer. Felix, and Sadie have a magnetic attraction, can she keep her distance from him? This was fast paced, steamy, dramatic, emotional, and entertaining.
So I liked this book but I feel like it could have been better if it would have stretched out as a bigger book. I just felt like things were rushed and the whole wedding fiasco I’m not sure was needed. Yes he needed to get closure and realize how awesome Sadie was but I feel like it was drawn out more then needed. I couldn’t really get a feel on the band mates other then they were in a band and there may have been an attraction between two of the band mates other then Felix and Sadie. I think if this would have been a longer book I would have enjoyed it more! A lot is thrown into this tiny book. I mean you have Sadie trying to prove herself and get the position she wanting, her chaotic life with her family, being blackmailed by Felix, her roommate and his crazy sex life, managing the band and add in Felix with him dealing with his Uncle running away with his fiancee and his mother’s death/father moving on was a lot to deal with in such a short amount of time. I liked Felix and Sadie but there wasn’t the feeling that I normally feel while reading romance. I need to fell the tension and love between the characters and I just didn’t here.
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This is a rock star romance between Sadie, the bosses daughter and who handles PR for the band, when this story starts she is on tour with the band. Then the tour ends and she get propositioned by Felix, one of the bandmates who she is very attracted too but who is sorta a manwhore and so she has not interest in being another notch.
I had a hate/love thing with this book. The first 30% of this story I almost quit reading a bunch of times. First Sadie is a Virgin. And the way Felix gets her to have sex with him was awful and that’s me being kind. He blackmails her with info he got by reading her diary/journal and in my mind it was very much like rape in that she could not say no to him. Had she been able too, she would have said no. However the actual act she never says no but she does not enjoy it either.
Having read her journal Felix knows she is a virgin and he has very rough sex with her, it was horrible to read. HORRIBLE. Its painful and she is hurt and Felix comes across as the biggest jerk in relation to this act. And I hated it. The sex scene was awful, prob one of the worst ones I have ever read and I have been reading romance for 30 years.
After the horrible sex scene, the story does get better and that’s when I started to enjoy the characters and story. By the end of the story I really did enjoy it. I would never read the book again and I will not read more in this series, and I am not a fan of the author but I did end the story and really ended up enjoying the story.
Sadie is the boss’s daughter and manager of a band which has bad boy drummer Felix. These two have an undeniable attraction, but can they take a chance on love? This is a good story which is filled with secrets, sexual innuendos, and love. The only down-side, in my humble opinion only, is that this story was just too rushed.
I’m sorry but this book just was not my cup of tea. It was badly written, cheesy, rushed, and undeveloped characters. It was predictable and stale. The only reason I finished it was because it was an ARC. I was really hoping that I would find a new author to add to my ever growing list but sadly, this just wasn’t my cup of tea.
The blurb does make the book sound good. The premise of the book was there but the execution failed for me. However, what one person doesn’t connect with, another person does so don’t take my word for it. You can still read it. You may love it. That is what is great about reading.
