Capone, the newly acquired puppy of Miss Josephine St. Clair, owner of Bartleby’s Books, is a literature loving Labrador. Obsessed with Jane Austen, and cursed with a terrible name, Capone hopes to change his doggie karma and prove he’s just as much a gentleman as the heroes in his favorite books, by finding the perfect Mr. Darcy for the lonely and bookishly adorable Miss Josie.Unfortunately, the … Josie.
Unfortunately, the only men Miss Josie seems to encounter aren’t Darcys at all. They’re Wickhams, Churchills, and Willoughbys. Even worse, there is trouble afoot. Someone has been sabotaging Miss Josie’s business, and all signs point to her evil ex. Can Capone find a way to save Bartleby’s Books, help Miss Josie find her true love, and earn, at long last, a name befitting a true gentleman?

Love and Chocolate is written from the dogs perspective. That is what makes it fantastic to read. It is well written and captures the essence of what is going through our pets minds. We all do it and that is what makes this fun. Capone struggles against his puppy tendencies to become a gentleman. I love the lists at the beginning of each chapter and look forward to the explanation that comes. What an enjoyable read! Definitely makes you want to visit Beaver, PA and hang out!
This cozy romantic mystery from the perspective of the utterly charming puppy Al Capone is utterly charming itself. I laughed out loud, I turned to my husband and read passages to him, and thoroughly enjoyed it, from beginning to end.
This is one of those hidden gems that you long to come across. It has a little bit of everything in it; romance, paranormal, mystery, and lots of action. There are so many twists and turns. A book that packs a punch you’ll never see coming.
Cute. Dog-centric. Fun read. Brain candy .
The Best Book!
I laughed so hard I was in tears. If you love dogs and love to laugh, don’t delay. Buy this book. It is so funny. I truly believe the writer spent her previous life as a dog because she nailed it.
It’s about a puppy trying to learn the ropes of becoming a gentleman while living in a bookstore. His trials and tribulations as he makes it his mission to find happiness for his owner.
You will not be disappointed. You may have to call in sick. You won’t be able to put this book down.
Really enjoyed this book and the characters. Entertaining
If you’ve always wanted to get into the mind of your pup

A charming tale about a puppy who loves Pride and Prejudice and wants to work as a matchmaker to find his owner her own Mr. Darcy.
Really good
I really enjoyed the characters and the dogs were wonderful.
I loved it. I loved that Capone was telling the story. It was a great way to escape these troubling, scary times. I’d really like to read more about Capone. Maybe a series?
The dogs perception.
Laugh out loud, fun and original story I could not put it down I enjoyed it so much.

Writing a mystery/romance from a puppy’s point of view is ingenius! It was .amazing and funny
Love, Chocolate, and a Dog Named Al Capone is a delightful, adorable, hilarious rom-com that’s told from dog’s POV. I’ve never read a book told from a dog’s POV, and this one was so much fun to read! Capone is an energetic, overly enthusiastic Labrador puppy, who loves books and watching PBS dramas. His one mission is to find the perfect Mr. Darcy for his owner Miss Josie, and his other mission is to become a gentleman, just like his favorite literary heroes. He finds that it’s not easy to find a man as perfect as Darcy, and being a gentleman requires self-control that goes against his puppy nature. Gentlemen do not chew on shoes, peony bushes, and pillows; they also don’t lick people’s ankles. But Capone is determined to succeed in both his goals.
Love, Chocolate, and a Dog Named Al Capone has so many things that I love: adorable pets, not just Capone but all his canine (and even feline) friends, a lot of Jane Austen references, sweet romance, laugh-out-loud humor, and even a mystery. I adored this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves animals, romantic and light-hearted reads, and Austen retellings.
Love, Chocolate, and a Dog Named Al Capone by Abigail Drake is a delightful mystery. Capone is the undeniable star of this tale. I was initially thrown off with the narration being from a puppies point of view but then the action takes over and you can’t help but fall in love with the characters and the story. A wonderful escape.
