From New York Times Bestseller Alessandra Torre… Chloe Madison. That’s me. A former NYU princess who just fell from grace, right off my pampered Manhattan throne and onto the unforgiving steps of Nicole Brantley, socialite and queen bitch. Now, I walk her dog and mix her smoothies. Try to navigate my own problems while fixing all of hers. I want what every New York girl wants. A career, an … wants. A career, an apartment, and true love, preferably in a smoking hot package.
It turns out I’ll have to fight for all of it.more
Follow the life and transformation of Chloe, a self confessed spoiled, rich girl. Chloe’s friend’s, Ex, boss and new friends and lovers make this character study a fun and sometimes frustrating romp through a defining year. Fun and Light Hearted
Well fancy that! Alessandra just added yet another string to her bow!
She’s done gritty thriller in The Girl in 6E. She’s done funny romance enemies to lovers in Hollywood Dirt. She’s done sexy, freaking sexy in Sex Love Repeat. I could go through the rest of her back catalogue, all brilliant books.
And now with Love Chloe she’s delivered something completely different again. Chloe, girl about town. Single white female. The book is a diary of her search for a job, somewhere to live and a new life.
She will meet shady men who want to pay for a kiss from her sweet lips, she will wear beautiful shoes, she will scoop dog poop, have a bitch of a boss and meet the loveliest man in Carter.
As far as Alessandra’s female characters go, Chloe wasn’t my favourite and I do prefer the meatier more plot thick stories such as Black Lies.
A fun, fresh, quite romantic in places read with a fair amount of Alessandra’s trade mark sexy too.
This is a book that I couldn’t finish because I realized that whatever hope I had for a worthwhile read, I was probably going to waste my time hoping. This is a book for those who love social media. It is for those that are attention challenged. I will give credit – the blurb about the book talked about a main character who starts out shallow and how she is a stereotypical socialite. A third of the book through and this was still true. Each short chapter started with a picture and caption. For those whose end all is facebook, twitter and instagram this may be your choice, but as someone who truly enjoys the written word, I was disappointed.
Chloe Madison is a beautiful , pampered spoiled for choices , rich little girl ,born and bred in Manhattan.
she wears premium brands, drinks Soho cocktails and has proverbial Gold spoon up her arse.
Her dream loud bursts when Daddy Dear defaults and she’s is literally town on the street. She has to work now (!!!!) To pay for her degree and feed herself. Her posse – Cammie and Brenta help , but they’re as clueless as her. She sets off to find a job as a PA to Nicole, The condom Queen and as she’s just got a starting role in a movie, Chloe also follows her on the set.
Clarke , Nicole husband, is very rich, doting, handsome and totally devoted to his wife.
Chloe in the process of scrapping for a living discovers herself , now that she’s on the other side of the social strata.
“The driver casually tossed the barbs out, unaware of how they stuck in my thin skin. Your service provider pass. My visions of elegantly mingling, a champagne flute in hand, counting down the seconds as the ball dropped, a handsome stranger dipping me backward for a kiss, disappeared.”
It’s not romantic or easygoing as she thought it was. The downside of losing money so abruptly is that not only do you lose position in life, you lose the ability to make moral judgements .
“most downward spirals probably started that way. Small moral adjustments made and justified by income needs.”
Morals fly out of the window faster than you can kiss for cash. Your self confidence suffers and so does your power to choose. Sometimes you’re ridiculed, sometimes you’re laughed at .
“Funny that after four months of working, I still hadn’t processed my role as The Help. I still saw myself on some sort of equal platitude with Clarke, where my mind would jump to a dinner invite rather than an order of food.”
She meets sweet , beautiful Carter. He’s a Super in her building. Funny how just a few steps down the social ladder can shift your perspective !!
“Blue-collar had never been my thing, too many millionaires in this city to bother with anything else. Then again, my tastes seemed to be changing. I might have to dip my toe into that pool once or twice. Just to taste that poison. Just to have it on my skin.”
They come together despite her reservations and his past. It starts a beautiful relationship, even though vic worth is trying to elbow his way back in Chloe’s life. I somehow pity the poor guy.
True that he messed up, but he does sincerely want her back
The story was originally a blog in Cosmopolitan magazine by Alessandra. It’s written in a blog format which really quirks up the book. I’m transported back to the time of Carrie Bradshaw and her Manhattan Diaries. This book is typical Alessandra and not her A.R. trademark. It’s sweet, funny, touching story about love in a hardcore concrete hearted city of Manhattan
“A maintenance worker. Great material for porn. Not so much for Chloe Madison’s Life Plan.”
I am going to be honest, I wouldn’t have requested or read a book with this blurb by any other author because it’s normally not my thing. I love dark and emotional reads and kind of stay away from the more light, funny and sweet romances. That doesn’t mean I never read or will read them in the future because I have and I will. I gave this book a try because I love Alessandra’s books and haven’t been disappointed by her writing yet. She is such a versatile writer and comes up with so many different stories that I enjoy reading.
“Better to risk my safety on a dim New York street than my heart to a blue-collar stranger.”
Love, Chloe is about a pampered rich girl named Chloe who find herself ripped away from her world. This is the first time she will have to really work and take care of herself. She becomes the personal assistant to Nicole Brantley and is at the beck and call of her every want and needs. I enjoyed Chloe’s transformation, how she finally found herself and became a new and improved person. A person I liked a lot. There were a lot of funny and sexy scenes in this book I enjoyed. There were two guys vying for her attention. They are the polar opposites from each other. We see Chloe struggling with who the right guy for her is. She isn’t perfect and that is what I think I liked the most about her.
“Life might be a bitch, but love? She kicked that Bitch’s ass.”
I really loved the writing style and how the story was told from Chloe’s POV. It was a very entertaining read and I didn’t want it to end. I have been to NYC a couple of years ago and this book made me miss it a lot. I enjoyed Chloe’s adventures and I wouldn’t mind a sequel. I haven’t read Hollywood Dirt yet but I think I will bump it up my TBR list!
What happens when in the blink of an eye your life takes a complete 180 and everything you thought you knew is no longer the truth??
Well if you read Love, Chloe you will get that answer. This book was a fun, sexy, sassy and overall entertaining read. It follows the journey of one woman trying to make something of her life in New York after everything is stripped away from her. This is my second book by Alessandra Torre and I loved it even more than the other book I read by her.
This story sucked me and I had a really hard time putting it down. This was such a refreshing change of pace from what I have been reading lately. This story was originally done as a serial for Cosmopolitan.com and was written in short episodes. I have to say I haven’t read those, but I am extremely happy she created this into a standalone novel to read all at once. I felt the story flowed effortlessly and the pace was spot on. This book is told from Chloe POV and I have to say, this was one book I really didn’t miss the male POV while reading it. I was just completely captivated by Chloe and her story.
Chloe was an amazing heroine. One of my favorite female characters!! She was funny, witty, sassy but still vulnerable. She started out pretty selfish in this book, but I loved watching her turn into a better person and friend as the story progressed. What I think I loved the most about Chloe’s story was it was so much more than just a love story. Yes we get an amazing love story between Chloe and Carter, but this was also about a spoiled rich girl who loses everything and has to make something of herself. Like I said I think everyone should read this book to truly appreciate what I am saying about this book.
I really liked most of the secondary characters in this book. There were a couple that I wanted to throat punch, but that just makes the story interesting. I will say that the reason this wasn’t a full 5 star read for me was because of the storyline with Chloe and her ex Vic. I thought that went on a little too long and it sort of turned this story into a small triangle (not my favorite type of story). But even saying that….I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and would 100% recommend it to everyone!!!
Definitely one of my Favorites of 2016 and one I will read again in the future!!!
Plot/Storyline – 5 stars.
I felt like I was watching a TV series unfold…each chapter was like a new week with new depths to the plot, but yet a perfect continuation of the story. Throughout the book, there were so many different things going on in Chloe’s life that I was constantly intrigued with where her life was going to go next and what curveballs were going to be thrown her way.
The story was about a girl, Chloe Madison, who has “fallen” from the top of the society “food chain” and she has to essentially “pick herself up” and learn on her own how to survive. She goes from having everything at her fingertips and everyone at her beck and call: wealthy fiancé, expensive clothes, beautiful apartment, maids, etc, etc, to NOTHING, a life of bills and living paycheck to paycheck. Now, she’s struggling with not only the financial aspects of her life, but also personal life. Throughout LOVE, CHLOE, Chloe’s morals and self-actualization are put to the test. She has to figure out if the girl she was was truly who she is or if it was only circumstantial. She realizes “hitting rock bottom” isn’t necessarily the end of the world and maybe it was a good thing bc it made her a stronger person and helped her figure out what true love looks like. After some bumps in the road and wrong turns, Chloe discovers her worth and realizes that materialistic things are not as important as having the love and respect of others and yourself. “Life is too short, morals were too important…” –Chloe.
Characters: 5 stars.
There was definite growth happening within Chloe’s character throughout LOVE, CHLOE. For me that was the best thing about this book…the character development. Chloe was a fallen society girl who tossed away her materialism in exchange for a better her. She goes from this spoiled, self-centered, rich girl to this humble, appreciative woman who knows who she is and also likes who she sees in the mirror. “When I looked back at that woman, I barely recognized myself. Cammie was right. I had changed. Everything in my life had changed.” –Chloe.
Book Boyfriend Material- 5 stars.
Carter…he was this hesitant and somewhat mysterious character and I loved how he fit into the storyline! Unbeknownst to him, he was a key component in helping guide Chloe in her self-discovery and because of that, he was the perfect match for her <3 “He wasn’t pure gentleman, not the silver spoon a**holes of my past. He had the fine edges, but was something more, stronger.–Chloe.
Writing Style/Steam Factor- 5 stars. The buildup in the storyline was slow to unfold, but Alessandra Torre did a beautiful job of delivering a progressive masterpiece that kept the reader craving more of Chloe’s ever changing world.
Overall- 5 stars. I’ve only had the pleasure of reading two of Alessandra Torre’s novels (HOLLYWOOD DIRT and LOVE, CHLOE), but I am rapidly discovering that I love her writing and her stories. Each book is completely unique and nothing like the last. Each character and plot development is written perfectly and leaves the reader wanting more! I would recommend LOVE, CHLOE to anyone that wants realism and something believable. LOVE, CHLOE was all those things and more. It was truly a heartfelt, soul-searching journey that leaves you totally in love with Chloe and her story.
Chloe was the girl who once had it all. In one fell swoop she became the fallen society girl who chose to toss away her materialism. However, she could’ve continued that life with Vic, but she chose to go it alone in the big city of NY. For the first time Chloe was independent and earning her own keep. She went from rich to poor. Chloe had to say goodbye to her social standing past and say hello to her lower standard present.
Chloe thought she needed a sexy rich man to love until she set her sights on a poor sexy men. No longer the socialite snob from before she put aside her stereotypes and judgements and allowed herself the opportunity to explore other possibilities.
But first she had to get a job. With no experience she took the job her mother arranged for her. This is where she became an assistant for Nicole.
Overall:
I’m trying to understand why I purchased this audiobook. After giving this book a raving 4 star review I realized quickly that the audiobook changed my perspective on these characters. Putting a voice to them really showcased them in a not so positive way.
Rose did everything in her power to give a top notch performance. Chloe’s pompous attitude from her fall from grace grated on my nerves. None of the characters were appealing.
This is by no means the caliber book as The Girl in 6R. Referencing this book as a rom-com wasn’t how I would define it.
I had other preconceived ideas about this storyline especially when it was mentioned that Nicole’s family owned a prophylactic company. There was some missed opportunity there.
I couldn’t stop envisioning Paris Hilton as this Nicole character. Maybe that was the way Alessandra intended it.
On a positive not Alessandra hit it out of the park with her sex scenes. She certainly knows her material when it comes to exploring sex. The scenes are hot and very graphic.
Sadly, I felt zero connection with any one of these characters. Everytime I stopped listening I didn’t give these characters a second thought. The message was unclear from the beginning as to what Alessandra was trying to convey. By the time I figured it out I was past caring. Once the topic of her friends and Nicole were limited and the story focused on Carter and Chloe the story came together.
I tried to make sense of those pictures posted ChloeMadisonNYU, but didn’t realize until the ending of the audiobook mentioned a page was created showcasing posts of Chloe’s life in NY. SMH on this one. Would’ve been helpful to have that information before.
Narrator:
Rose Dioro was the solo female performer of Love, Chloe. This was my first experience listening to Rose. She did an excellent job recreating Chloe’s character. Rose specializes in romance and erotica audiobooks. That was apparent in her performance.
For the most part this was an unabridged copy. Only a few dialogue updates. Nothing too noticeable.
It’s amazing what adding a sound to a character does to my opinion of that character. Rose impressed me with her accents for a few characters. However, with her excellent portrayal of these characters I developed a hate for them based on the way they spoke with that accent.
I will definitely consider in investing on another audiobook with Rose as the narrator.
Chloe Madison is a beautiful , pampered spoiled for choices , rich little girl ,born and bred in Manhattan.
