The Love Lock Duet, Book 1
By: S. M. West
Narrated by: Summer Morton, Stephen Dexter
Forbidden love. It’s so tempting. Drew has had a thing for his best friend, Finn’s sister for a long time. But she is off limits. Pippa too has had a crush on Drew. Now a chance is open for them to be together, but the idea of getting caught is daunting. So what do you suppose they should do? What will happen when Finn finds out? Will their feelings be strong enough to handle the disapproval or will Finn come around? There is a lot in this story. The history of friendship, the reasons behind Finn’s thinking and they ever growing feelings of Pippa and Drew are just the tip of the iceberg! Pippa has the guts to do this, but I was angry with Drew. While Finn is his friend, his heart is with Pippa. Time to man up. And Finn just needs to accept it! Life is never that easy and we get to take the first part of their journey to see where things will be going. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out in book 2, Love Lock.
Summer Morton and Stephen Dexter are amazing narrators and they give us all the feels. The angst is high, the passion mounting and the suspense of what is to come is all there in their voices! I can feel the love and the trepidation! Time to start the next book!

A Heartfelt & Emotional Rollercoaster Ride! Fantastic
Love Block
The Love Lock Duet, Book 1
By: S. M. West
Narrated by: Summer Morton, Stephen Dexter
This story swept me right in, grabbing both my heart and my attention for the entire book. This is a story about two people who want each other but continually deny themselves for the sake of another. Pippa is Finn’s younger sister, she was off limits to all of his friends, including Drew. Pippa has crushed on Drew forever, she has even made plays on him but does not fold for the sake of his friendship of her brother and the closeness of the two families. The attraction grows stronger each year, Drew had to stay away from Pippa for that reason, but his resolves starts to waiver when she shows up as his new summer cottage to help with renovations. Part of me wanted to admits Drew and another part wanted to knock some sense into him, into Finn too. I get Finn had issues with is friends when it came to his sisters but I felt he over stepped. I was rooting for these two the whole time. The story is beautifully written and plotted, there is plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt and emotional moments and a slow burn romance. S.M. West thank you for this fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Summer Morton and Stephen Dexter are talented narrators and voice artists. They are awesome at portraying the characters, humanizing them, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen
Drew and Pippa have known each other for years. Their families are friends and Drew’s best friend is Pippa’s brother which makes Pippa off limits for him. He has avoided his feelings for Pippa for years. Now he is stuck with her in a cabin alone and Pippa has feelings for him too. I want to read the next book to find out how their story continues.
I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am leaving a review.
Love Block by S.M. West is a forbidden best friend little sister romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Summer Morton and Stephen Dexter. This is the first book in The Love Lock Duet Series.
I absolutely love Suzanne’s books! They always leave me with a smile. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Drew and Pippa. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the series Love Locked to get more of their story.
Summer and Stephen did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like forbidden romances, best friends sister romances, or contemporary romance.
Audio Review
Pippa has loved Drew for years as he is her brothers best friend and his sister is her best friend. Drew won’t acknowledge his feelings because of her brother Finn’s demands to leave his sister alone.
This is an emotional book about forbidden love of best friends and siblings and the struggles both Pippa and Drew face because of it.
Summer Morton and Stephen Dexter do a good job of telling the beginning of Pippa and Drew’s story. This is book 1 and their journey continues in book 2.
Love Block was a steamy and a bit angsty story of secret love and desire. Pippa and Drew had always been in love with other and while Pippa tried everything to get Drew to notice her, Drew pushed her away because her brother was his best friend. When they find themselves in close proximity, can they still fight their feelings?
Pippa was a firecracker. She was so full of life and determined to make Drew see how good they could be together. Drew was a great guy and I really loved him, but I wanted him to own up to his feelings and talk to Finn.
This was a great start to the Love Lock Duet and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
This is the first book in The Love Lock Duet. Pippa and Drew’s story is emotional. Pippa is smart, sexy, and sassy. Drew is an intriguing character. They share an undeniable chemistry. Finn, Pippa’s brother, and Drew’s best friend, is very protective and controlling. Their forbidden journey is full of angst. Summer Morton and Stephen Dexter did a goodjob with the narration. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Duet, Love Lock, to know what happens next.
The attraction between Drew and Pippa is obvious but she’s his best friend’s little sister and that makes her off limits.
Love Block is a story of forbidden love that’s both fun and angsty. It’s also filled with delicious sexual tension, leading to some hot and sexy scenes. The narrators are fantastic and I can’t wait to listen to the conclusion of this well written duet. I highly recommend it!
This is a quick story that has one of my favorite tropes. Best Friend/little sister! This as always includes all kinds of internal struggle, hiding thoughts and feelings and denial…of those feelings. Each of these characters were great! Man…that first kiss was..excellent!! Pippa is wanting her man but he doesn’t want to come clean to his best friend/her brother. There is a past history that makes Finn ( BFF/ brother)very controlling of his family.
Overall this story makes my heart race. I enjoyed each character. I did listen to this on audio. Summer and Stephen did a great job.
This story will leave you smiling!
Love Block by S.M. West
This book held me captive from the beginning to the end. Their story isn’t easy it’s messy, angsty, with family drama, friendship and loyalty at stake.
Pippa has had a crush on Drew since she was sixteen and has never tried to hide her feelings. Drew has always hid his feelings because her brother Finn who is his bestfriend forbid him from dating his sister. (There is a reason behind as to why)
Then she comes to help renovate his cottage and one thing leads to another and they can’t fight their chemistry any longer.
This book ends on a Happy For Now but for some reason you get a feeling things aren’t going to stay that way. I’ll be getting the next book in this duet Love Lock to find out what happens next!
Five
Pippa has always had a thing for Drew and she never hid it but Drew always hid the way he felt for Pippa because she was his best friend’s little sister. Love Block is book one of the Love Lock Duet and it’s a forbidden, best friend’s little sister story. Pippa and Drew are perfect together and I look forward to reading the next book in the duet to find out if they get their HEA.
Pippa & Drew or my very favorite couple! I mean these two are should have been together for a long time! I knew them when they were teenagers in Made to Love. I’ve loved witnessing how these two gets together. Drew resisting and Pippa pushing over and over again! They are practically family. Them being together is both an evidence but also a risk. What if something goes wrong?
Wait for the angst! If you love it, you’ll have it plenty. Love Block is a terrific start for this duet! All you’ll want is more of their chemistry, more of their banter and more of their time together.
Reading S.M. West’s words felt like going home. When you know you are going to have a good time no matter what, surrounded by the people you love the most.
So you can bet I’m ready for more soon!!
I really enjoyed this book. I did get frustrated with Drew though. His indecisions drove me crazy and I just wanted to hurt him. Can’t wait to see what’s next for these two.
This first installment of the duet is a warm hearted love story with some ‘will they, won’t they’ thrown into the mix. You find yourself becoming invested in the story of Drew and Pippa as they try to navigate their way through all the reasons why they shouldn’t be together; the biggest one being Pippa’s brother, Finn. My heart went out to them both because they’ve denied their feelings for each other for so long and despite trying to get on with their lives, the heart knows what it wants. You’re there with them every step of the way and keep hoping they can find a way through it all and have the happiness they crave.
I love how this author writes and always find myself becoming lost in her books and unable to put them down until I get to the end. In the case of Love Block, I wasn’t ready for the story of Drew and Pippa to end and jumped straight into book 2, Love Lock, as soon as it dropped onto my Kindle. Whilst the first book doesn’t end in a cliffhanger and is more of a happily ever after for now, you just know there’s more to come and I recommend that you definitely pick up book 2.
*I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book
So I love books like this, when the characters all interact and are one big family. This is the case with Pippa and Drew. It’s forbidden but neither can deny their feelings. I give Drew props for hiding his feelings(the best he could anyway), standing his guard and respecting his friends rule. He knew he had feelings for Pippa but kept his distance. He even had a girlfriend for years but couldn’t stop thinking about Pippa. Being thrown together while working on his cottage stirs up lots of emotions for both of them. I laughed at how obvious their little looks and innocent touches said so much to their friends. The only one who refused to see it was Pippa’s older brother and Drew’s best friend(same person). They have steamy times in the bedroom. This was a great start to the series and I can’t wait to see how all this plays out in the second book!
I really liked the blurb about this book. Best Friend’s little sister is a trope I love to read. And I love to try new authors, so this seemed like a great fit. This book is also not a standalone-it is written as a two part book, so leaves the reader without a solid ending.
Love Block is about a woman in love with her brother’s best friend, or the man’s best friend’s little sister. They’d tried denying the feelings due to age and other circumstances, but despite it all, they are drawn to each other.
Pippa is a great character. I liked how she felt she was worth the effort, worth the sacrifice, worth the actions. All her feelings were real, valid, and relatable. Drew was a mostly relatable guy. You want to like him for so many reasons, but to me, there was an underlying thread of distrust or questioning.
Drew and Pippa’s long history led to steam. It had elements that were organic and flowed well; though at times it also felt forced and stilted. While some of that is a bit true to life, overall it left me a little meh.
Never having read anything by this author, I felt a bit like I was dropped into a conversation mid-way through and I’m missing some important backstory. And I had trouble keeping Pippa and Piper straight; my brain has troubles with names that are very similar while reading. I’d get sucked into certain scenes, then the next chapter would drag.
Well, I’m invested, so I have to read book two. But I am going to have to dig deep to see if I want to go back and see if I’m missing a story about Pippa’s brother to get more backstory to complete their world.
Star Ratings:
Plot = 3/5 Characters = 4/5 Heat = 4/5 Writing Style = 3/5 Overall Rating = 4/5
This story is kind of tragic because of a situation that happened in the past for Pippas brother and Drew’s best friend. The hot factor with these two is off the charts. But can Drew show Pippa he really wants forever by fighting that past with her brother!
The dynamics of these two characters and the people around them is gripping and you will want to get to the end to see if they can make it work. They have a true friendship; a long time denied chemistry and love. Drew keeping away from being around Pippa hasn’t cooled that down. Love sometimes doesn’t seem like it will be enough.
This one was quite interesting. The first one I have read from this author. It was very intense and interesting storyline. Drew has wanted Pippa a long time. But out of respect for her brother he has stayed away. For a year he has ignored and avoided her. But then she shows up on his door step with her sister and ends up staying for a week to help him with his new house. Things between them heat up even if Drew knows that they shouldn’t because of Finn her brother. But that doesn’t stop Drew from having intense feelings for Pippa. But once Finn find out things don’t go so well. Will these two get happy ever after? I loved this one and cant wait to read the next one. S.M West gained a fan with this book and these characters
This is book one of a duet of books. It gives us the beginning of Drew and Pippa’s story. I really liked this book. The storyline is slow burning and smoky. This is a very emotionally rich read. The strong familiarity between the characters, the long surpressed desires and the whole forbidden element (she is his best friend’s sister) adds a lot of tension and an overall angsty feel to everything. The book does end on a cliffhanger but it is a satisfying one, not a want to smash something one. So that is a big plus if you are a reader that would normally be resistant to reading a book that has one. I look forward to book two.
