In hindsight, maybe I should have known my biggest nemesis would end up locking up my heart.Believe it or not, running a fertility clinic in Auburn Hill, located right next to a prison, isn’t the worst thing. Nope, the worst thing is the infuriatingly sexy warden of the new prison – who doesn’t care that his newly-released inmates are stopping by my clinic on their way out of town to make a … clinic on their way out of town to make a “deposit” for some quick cash. Sure, it’s his circus, but according to him, those clowns aren’t his responsibility once they walk out the door.
Until one of them pulls a gun on me in a desperate robbery attempt and I realize I have to be a little more…ahem…persuasive with the warden. Stumbling upon him in a compromising position is just the leverage I need, and I’m not above a little blackmail. Turns out, he’s not above pushing me up against the door and kissing the hell out of me either.
Adding in ex-lovers, magical goats, scheming mayors, gossiping mail carriers, a man-hating mother, and nonstop seagull shenanigans makes me realize one thing.
Don’t bank on love developing here in Auburn Hell.
Love Bank is a laugh out loud small town RomCom featuring a prison warden who barks orders and a bumbling business woman with more sass than sense. Love Bank is book one in the Jobs From Hell series.

Love Bank is a light and easy to read, full of humor, small town, enemies to lovers read. Lucille is the owner of a sperm bank, who’s butting heads, and pulling pranks on the new prison warden Bain. But Bain isn’t going down without a fight. I thought Love Bank was a okay story, but not my favorite from this author. I am looking forward to her next one.
A small town with a spank bank next to a prison… seagulls and cats… enemies to lovers… can’t you just imagine all the hilarity and shenanigans! With Lucille and Bain (I just love his name) you are in for lots of laughs and some steamy sexy times.
~ I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise~
This is my first time reading a book by Marika Ray and I am impressed. The characters were funny, interesting, relatable all while the storyline was filled with twists and shenanigans that kept me hooked. I don’t want to go into too much detail about the book but I will be recommending it and giving away some copies to friends.
I cannot wait to read other stories already published by Marika Ray and the rest of this series as they come out.
What a fresh idea! I adored Lucille! And Bain? Holy hotness of a man! I laughed out loud at so much of this book! Lucy runs a sperm bank. She has the greatest of intentions for opening it and is very serious about her clinic. When she sees Bain, she can’t get him out of her mind. When she finds out he’s the new warden of the jail next door, they become enimes of the worst kind. Lucy is someone I could get into trouble with very easily. From her magical goat encounter, to attacking seagulls, to being allergic to cats, Lucy doesn’t seem to realize her similarities to the famous Lucy. That’s what makes her fantastic. And her internal dialog? Funniest one liners ever! Bain is no slouch when it comes to mishaps either. He’s dealing with a jail that is in not so good working order, a brother that he makes stupid challenges with and a blackmail letter that could get him into the worst kind of trouble. All in all, fantastic book and I can’t wait to read more from Marika Ray!
A feel good story. A 36 year old virgin running a sperm bank and the new prison warden. So many laugh out load moments. I loved the small town of Auburn Hill (Hell).
The premise of this story drew me in! I mean, a heroine who owns an upscale sperm bank and a hero who runs a private prison–what a combo! And to make it an enemy to lovers story too? AND funny? This was a book I couldn’t put down…thanks to self-isolation I didn’t have to. I can’t wait for the next book in this new series.
This book was hilarious! I love the plot line of the book, how Lucille and Bain come to know each other. Seriously, they’re very funny and their banter is always fun. Their chemistry was off the charts. Obviously, it wasn’t a very cute meet-cute, so they hated each other. It turned worse when inmates would come to Lucille’s fertility clinic to donate their sperm.
I was tearing up from laughing so hard every time they encountered each other! So much things happened, from crazy animals loitering around, to blackmails. Definitely had a great time reading this one!
First off, I just have to say that I loved every second of Lucy and Bain’s story! It starts off as an enemies to lovers kind of book where I laughed out loud numerous times at the crazy shenanigans/blackmailing that Lucy and Bain pulled on one another. Then it turned into them both developing an attraction for one another! The passion between these two are unreal and I loved watching them slowly fall for each other. It’s funny because sometimes the person who you think isn’t for you, turns out to be the greatest gift in your life. I really connected with Lucy from the start! She is so real and honest and open. Her character growth throughout the novel was beautiful to see and I loved watching her gain confidence in herself and find such an awesome group of women to help cheer her on. Bain for his part is the new warden in town and he is sweet and charming! Yes he is a bit arrogant at times but there is just something about him that draws you to him. And once he begins falling for Lucy, look out! Bain will steal your heart before this novel is over, I can assure you of this! Honestly, this is one of my favourite novels of Marika’s and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book in the series!
This is an off the wall great RomCom. What happens when you build a prison down the street from a fertility clinic? seagull attacks, dirty shirtless felons, and a Hot warden on the warpath. The back and forth between Bain and Lucy will have you laughing out loud. The heat between the two will burn your fingers while you are holding the words. This is a great small town romantic comedy and my first Marika Ray book. I can’t wait to read more
Loved Love Bank and getting to know some of the people of Auburn Hill(Hell). Lucy and Bain have such a fun and witty relationship. I cant wait till the next one!
I could not put this book down. Talk about Jobs from Hell. I can’t wait for more from this series. The craziness had me laughing until I cried. There is everything you can imagine in a book and more. Love Bank is not what I expected, and I loved it. This author has no limits with her imagination. The chemistry is off the charts.
This story made me laugh so hard! Lucy and Bain’s antics are hilarious! This small town romcom was just what I needed to get out of my funk!
I love Marika’s books and Love Bank was no exception. I really enjoy enemies to lovers books. Love Bank was so funny with lots of hilarious situations the loveable characters found themselves in. When a book has the right amount of humor and steam, to me, it’s perfect. Can’t wait for the next books in the series!
Way to meet!
It’s making me giggle and laugh out loud from the very beginning. A hilariously funny way to meet and fall in love for the very first time. Both being grown ups, seemingly serious careers and still with the best sense of humor.
I’m getting to feel all the feels, not just having a good time. I’m swooning and swearing, laughing out loud and shedding a few tears. It’s both hot and sweet with some added spice.
This author has a wonderful way of combining humor with a romantic story and sprinkle it with great friends and strange animals. A world building that makes you wanna move to town, getting to know them better. A few twists and turns, loose ends and I’m hooked, eagerly waiting for the next book in this new series.
This book!! Omg it was so cute—loved the older woman younger man aspect even though it wasn’t mentioned between them. I also loved that it was not a mid twenties couple but older. Steamy-big time!! Totally different jobs than you normally see in a romance which gave it a refreshing concept. I loved everything about these two. A favorite of mine from this author!!
Oh, how I love Marika Ray.
This book was sheer perfection– heartwarming, clever, romantic, sexy, and laugh-out-loud funny. I loved Lucille from the very start, and every other character was just as endearing. I adored the quirky, small town vibe, and swooned over what might be my favorite enemies-to-lovers story to date.
I have no idea where Marika comes up with her ideas, but I swear that woman is a genius. No matter what kind of mood I’m in, her writing never fails to make me feel better. Her characters truly come alive, and I giggle/get angry/drool a little bit right along with them. No matter what I’m expecting, I am always surprised by something– whether it’s a hidden depth to a character (Lucille’s mom), a “pet” that sneaks into my heart (Ethel), or a completely zany scenario that seems not only believable, but totally normal (not going to spoil any of those, though!)
I hated to see this book end, and I can hardly stand the wait to learn what else is going on in Hell.
Love Bank (Jobs from Hell Book1) by Marika Ray
This book has everything you could want in a book – humor, alpha male, uptight heroine, a sperm bank, prison warden, steamy sex, off the charts chemistry, enemies to lovers, witty banter. Marika’s books just get better and better. I have loved every one I have read, but this is now my favorite. This one had me laughing and sometimes wanting to cry. Lucy and Bain are such great characters, and their interactions have it all – sparks, wit, and sometimes some anger. Then you throw in the crazy animals – the goat, seagulls, and a crazy cat. Lucy may seem uptight, but the things she says are hysterical. I love how Lucy meets the girls and they all look out and take care of each other. Marika always has strong women that lift each other up instead of tearing each other apart. Bain comes across as an alpha male, but boy does he change once he’s around Lucy. I love how he and Lucy are together, and a girl would be so lucky to have him in their real life. I love what he said towards the end of the book about Lucy. I wanted to quote it, but decided it might give too much away. If you are looking for something to make you laugh with some steam, this is the book for you.
Once again Marika Ray knows how to give the sweet, sexy and laugh out loud moments in just the right dose. Lucille and Bain don’t start off on the right foot and the shenanigans that ensue are priceless. The banter is fun, the sexual tension between them is delicious and the outcome put a smile on my face
* First time reading author
Wow, I LOVED this story. This is the first time reading Marika Ray but it will not be the last. Love Bank brings two people together that are funny, borderline crazy, chemistry off the hook, and just good family feeling. Even though Lucy and Bain feel like they may be on the opposite side of everything. They argue and makeup and find themselves in hilarious situations that just keep you wanting to read this story. I loved every character in this book.
I am excited to see what happens in the next book.
Lucy and Bain are not your average love story. Not every romance begins with sperm samples. blackmail, and sabotage. I love Lucy’s car. I love the girls who take her under their wing and become real friends. I love how her relationship with her mother grows and matures. And I love the way she opens up and relaxes when she meets Bain. Bain was a little immature at the beginning, but he definitely grows on you and I loved how protective he became of Lucy. Their physical relationship is sweet and hot. I really liked this book and laughed out loud multiple times. The author has a definite way with words and this book has some very funny moments because of that. I really recommend checking out this book.
