She came to the beach to write… But she’s getting distracted by the surfer next door. Jenna, a single mom and successful author, has five weeks to deliver her next young adult novel to the publisher. This year’s summer getaway with her kids will be a working vacation. The only problem? Lucas, the devil-may-care surfer in the beach rental next to hers. He cranks up his music at night, hosts … next to hers. He cranks up his music at night, hosts loud volleyball matches, and allows his dog to run around at will.
Jenna often blames him for her writer’s block. But before long, she begins to see a new side of her neighbor at the shore. Maybe opposites do attract…but will that attraction fade like a sunset once summer is gone?
This funny, emotional romance includes a free Hallmark original recipe for Shrimp Scampi.

What a delicious beach read this was! Full of chocolate and seashells and changing hearts and breaking barriers. I can’t wait to watch the Hallmark movie adaptation —I saved it on the DVR to see if they did it justice!
Loved it!
This was a pleasure to read. The blend of humor and light angst made for a relaxing break; I looked forward to getting back into the story after my daily commitments. It was exactly what a summer read should be.
I voluntarily read an advanced review copy provided by the publisher and I offer my honest opinion in response.
This is a fun summer beach read based off of the Hallmark movie, Love at the Shore. I enjoyed the way Terri Wilson wrote her book and thought she captured the essence of the movie and characters. Who wouldn’t love to spend a month on a beach at Tybee Island even if you do have to finish writing a book?
I liked the character of Jenna, who is a single parent of two children and she had five weeks to finish writing her second book. She has everything all planned out because that is how she is. I also liked Lucas, her annoying neighbor who just so happens to own the duplex and the summer day camp which Jenna’s children attend so Jenna can write. He is much more laid back than Jenna.
It was fun to watch Jenna develop feelings for her neighbor who has also seemed to develop feelings for her too. I enjoyed watching them deny their feelings and live together as neighbors in the duplex. It was also interesting that Lucas does not tell Jenna that he owns the duplex which leads to some interesting discussions in the book. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Writer Jenna Turner and her two children are off to the shore for a five week adventure and a looming deadline for her manuscript. Their rental house is a charming duplex steps away from the ocean, perfect for relaxing and writing—until Jenna meets her new neighbors, Lucas and his rambunctious pup, Tank. A surfer who shies away from neatness is not exactly her idea of the perfect next door acquaintance. Lucas has his doubts too about being next to a seemingly uptight mom with two kids. Will their differences draw them together, or be barriers that neither can navigate?
Author Teri Wilson takes us on a romantic jaunt at the beach as Jenna slowly starts to unwind and gets to know her neighbor, who turns out not to be the slacker she first thought. Lucas unexpectedly finds himself bonding with the kids next door, coaching Jenna’s son Nick in swimming at the kids camp, and fostering a relationship with Jenna’s daughter Ally and his dog, Tank. He surprises Jenna again and again as she learns more about his successful past, and his friendship with her children touches her heart. As their friendship grows, will it fizzle at the end of summer when it’s time to go back to reality, or blossom into something more?
Put on your sunglasses and tip your toes into the warm sand. This is a perfect #summertime read that warms the heart and definitely makes you smile!
Love At the Shore is a perfect summer read, a heartwarming story and endearing characters. Jenna and Lucas start out as adversaries, next door neighbors who don’t seem eye to eye. Jenna’s cute kids and Lucas’s dog add a sweet and warm-hearted layer to the story. It was fun to watch Jenna and Lucas let their guards down, opening their hearts to possibilities.
This book is perfect! If you love the beach, grab this book. You feel like you are there, you can see the scenery, hear the gulls and the crashing waves. As always, if it’s a Hallmark book it’s a winner with a wonderful recipe at the end. Thank you Hallmark Publishing via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is the first book that I have read by Teri Wilson and I really enjoyed it.
Jenna has been divorced for a while and while she was married she never thought that her marriage would end that way. Now she has become a sort of control addict. She figures if she keeps everything where she can control it, wrapped up tightly, then she won’t be hurt again.
Jenna has two children, Nick and Ally, every year they go to Tybee Island for summer vacation. This year they rent a duplex and are next door to a messy surfer who has a dog named Tank.
This was a really good book and I must say that once I started reading it I just could not put it down. I would highly recommend the book to anyone who loves a really good romance story.
Love at the Shore is a perfect beach read. I thought the characters Jenna and Lucas was wonderful characters. This story was sweet, fun and easy to read. It was a page turner, well written and a good storyline.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing.
I truly enjoyed reading this book!
It’s an engaging, & feel-good story.
Great characters, & romance make
it the perfect summer read.
Jenna, a single Mom, & her two kids,
were spending the summer at the beach.
Lucas, is a layed back, surfer, who lives
by his own rules. And his faithful dog, Tank.
When Jenna & Lucas, first meet, to say they didn’t hit it off, is an understatement.
There is clearly a connection between them. But Jenna, has two kids to raise,
& Lucas is a confirmed bachelor.
Love At The Shore, steals your heart
from the very first pages to the last.
I loved everything about this
Must Read Story!!!
Oh my heart! LOVE AT THE SHORE by Teri Wilson was the perfect Memorial Day weekend read, with the start of summer being around the corner. I loved this sweet romance about a divorced writer mom who brings her kids to a beach house rental, only to fall for the messy, playful surfer next door. In fact, I loved it so much that I watched the movie as soon as I finished the book, so thank you Hallmark for entertaining me this long weekend!
Jenna Turner was a character close to my heart, as I struggle with writing myself too and totally understood where she was coming from. My dream would be to go to a beach house for five weeks, like she did with her kids, and work on my novels! Jenna’s ready to work, organized, and lives by the plan. The kids are enrolled in summer camp, and she thinks she has everything set and under control. Jenna’s ambition is admirable, but she’s distracted by the cutie next door neighbor (and his dog) in the duplex they are sharing.
Lucas already lived the corporate life of plans and schedules, and worked hard to attain his dream of a shore life as a surfer and local business person at the beach. Now, he’s learned to relax a bit and live the unattached life. Until his beautiful neighbor and her awesome kids move in for the summer and he finds himself pulled into their world.
There are so many things to love about LOVE AT THE SHORE. Tank, the dog, is a superstar. My heart swelled at how the kids chipped away at Lucas’s anti-attachment attitude, and how Lucas taught Jenna to relax a little and not try to control everything. I especially loved how Jenna’s new summer vibe helped her finish her book, and how Ms. Wilson showed Lucas realizing that his life, while amazing, could be so much more if he let love in.
LOVE AT THE SHORE is a sweet, summer read with mature characters, and a lovely setting. It’s the perfect book to take to the beach!
Love At The Shore was such a nice read set in a Summer paradise as Tybee Island.
Jenna is a author on a deadline for her second book, but she is also a mother of two and the Summer season is up onn them, so she books a five weeks stay on Tybee Island where the kids can enjoy their time at the Summer camp and she can finish her story. She has planned everything, everything is under control until she arrives at her beach villa and she finds out that Lucas, her neighbour, is a messy surfer who unlike her has nothing to do all day. Will they find a common ground to live in peace or will their differences are too big to live next to each other?
I’ve really enjoyed Jenna and Lucas journey, it was a pleasure to read how they grew fond of each other chapter after chapter.
I liked Lucas character the most, his messy way is endearing but don’t make the same mistake as Jenna because he is much more than a lazy surfer.
I didn’t have seen the movie yet but Teri Wilson’s writing is so evocative that I’ve all the scenes playing in my mind throughout the book.
Opposites attract, meets Hallmark in this sweet romance by Wilson. Jenna and Lucas have nothing in common on the surface, but when you dig deeper they are more alike than different. A quick, light read.
Beach!!! Do I need to say more? OK what about sharing a 2 unit condo on the beach. One with kids and one without. One renting and one owning, both sides burned by love. Let the fun begin. I really enjoy timeless story about lost love and moving forward. I am seen the Hallmark movie and it’s just as fun.
Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark for allowing me to read and review this book.
Wonderful story and author
Love at the Beach is a cute, entertaining summer “beach” read. Jenna is a single mother with two kids headed to the beach for the summer. She’s a writer of young adult stories who has had her first hit. Now she has 5 weeks to finish the sequel that she hasn’t started. She’s hoping the kids will be entertained by the beach & their friends so she can get inspired & knock the story out. She didn’t plan on the outgoing inhabitant of the opposite side of the duplex, his parties & loud music. He is so annoying! Why can’t she get him off her mind?
Lucas rented out one side of his duplex for the summer. He didn’t expect his neighbor to be so uptight & nice looking. She didn’t think he’d fall for the entire family. His dog was as big a draw to the kids as he was. Can he find a way to change Jenna’s impression of him?
This was definitely a case of opposites attract. Jenna is uptight & anxious. Lucas is laid back & takes it as it comes. It isn’t a case of love at first sight but with every interaction you see the chemistry grow. The kids & the dog add their own little side stories which add to the sweetness of the story. This really is a fun entertaining summer read.
Nice relaxing story. I enjoyed loosing myself in Jenna’s life for awhile. She is a divorcee with two kids
that is trying to make a career with her writing. the fun really starts when they go to the beach rental for summer and meet the man next door. Of course he is not really what he seems at first appearance.
Never judge a book by its cover is very true in this fun fast moving love story.! Oh and don’t forget the dog with his antics thrown in!! Well worth the read
