Love at the Christmas Festival
by Belle Bailey
Love at the Christmas Festival is a heartwarming story holiday romance of two people trying their best and finding the meaning of family. A Lovely sweet story, of a Christmas at Oakleaf Manor in the cozy town of Sugar Maple; delivers a Christmas to remember and feeling like home. The picturesque setting of Sugar Maple is just wonderful, a town you would want to call home and come back to for the holidays.
A good and realistic plot to this cozy story, that is very well written with good festive descriptions included; pulling the readers more in to the story. The main characters feel real, very likable; very well described and developed throughout the story. The supporting characters are perfect fit in their roles, and they work well within the fabric of the story.
A fantastic romantic story-line that will hold the interest of the reader from the first page, with smooth flow to the story. I could not put this book down, I found myself drawn into the story. I adore stories about Christmas any ways, it is my all-time favorite time of the year, and this book will be going on to this reader’s, to-be re-read again pile; getting pulled out each year as we get closer to the Christmas season.
Ms. Belle Bailey is new Author to me, and I really like her writing style; with all the vivid descriptions placed on the festival decorations, the real-life feel to the story of Love at the Christmas Festival; the reader feels as if they are right in the middle of the perfect Christmas package. This was my first visit to Sugar Maple, could almost picture the farm and cannot wait to read more about the residents of Sugar Maple, a new favorite town and author. I loved the happy endings and the fact that I can introduce my teenage grand-daughters read this romance and author; without any qualms.
A quick read, very well written with great characters and very entertaining, the pages flew by to the end. The author does such a great job with the word picture; so that the reader can almost imagine smell the Christmas trees and all the baked goodies that go alone with Christmas. I would highly recommend this fun and enjoyable story to anyone who adore stories about Christmas; absolutely worth the read, you will want to put this book down. The next book in the series should be just as good. I read a gifted ARC, and these are my personal feelings on Love at the Christmas Festival; which gets a 4.5-star rating.
This book kept me speechless and gives an unexpected turn. It has an amazing intense storyline and strong plot roaring to life
A captivating, heartwarming sweet holiday romance story. Well, described characters. A well-written book, I enjoyed reading. It was a pleasure to review.

A new Author to me, a well written story that held my interest from the first page. Graduate student Holly Thompson almost gets run off the road in a storm on her way back to her campus. She needs a job to help her Mom meet ends after her dad dies and as luck would have it where she ends up after spinning out of control there is a help wanted sign on the gate to Oakleaf Manor in Sugar Maple. She gets it and meets Nick St. James. The pages flow smoothly one to the other as these two get to know each other there is misunderstandings, jealousy of another woman, and a lot that Holly has to get over if she is to move forward. With the help of the people at Oakleaf Manor, they might find their way to a happy ending. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Holly is a graduate student with tuition, room, and board paid for by being a teaching assistant and resident assistant. The book never said what Holly’s degree was. She’s worried because she’s staying at school over Christmas break and the cafeteria will be closed so she won’t have her meals covered. She begs God for a job for Christmas when she’s almost run off the road and ends at Oakleaf Manor with a job playing an elf for Santa. Santa Nick is the one who almost ran her off the road and Holly believes he is a spoiled rich kid. But secretly he is making a Christmas list for all the needy children that visit. Holly only sees that he is like her dad trying to buy their love. Mrs. Claus Tanya was a two-faced spoiled, selfish, lazy, greedy, liar who wanted Nick for his money and no one would see it until she made a spectacle of herself in public. In one part of the story Nick comments about how he hasn’t dressed up since he was a kid, but he does it every day in his job as Santa. There was a lot of back and forth between the characters and inconsistencies in this holiday romance.
Nick always wanted to have a real family and have a real home.
Holly has always wanted to have had her father spending more time with her and her siblings. Because of her father, she thinks that some things are good enough at Christmas.
The story was very slow. There are so many details that it makes the story boring. Too many descriptions and too little action. If the first half of the book had been deleted, we wouldn’t have missed anything at all. However, the second part is a little better and I enjoyed it. That is why in the end, I decided to give this book 3 stars.
What I like most in the story is the Christmas spirit of the people in Sugar Maple.

Nick and Holly both work at oak leaf as Santa and his elf but Mrs. Claus wants to extend her Mrs. Clause a little longer than Santa does and she will do anything to get it. Holly is the new elf in town and Tanya will do anything to make her look bad to Nick even going so far as to lie to both of them. Holly and Nick like each other but with Tanya in the middle they may not find each other. Holly is working on her master’s and Nick is working on her but Tanya tells Nick, Holly thinks she is better than them and tells Holly, Nick is with her. Will Holly and Nick evee find true love if Tanya has her way no but if Dylan and their families have any say yes. Find out it’s an awesome book and it’s well written. This book is a first from this author but not the last.

Love at the Christmas Festival #2 – This is my first read by this author and I liked most of it. I didn’t understand the anger in the beginning of the story from both main characters. I found the main female character disappointing with her quick temper, prejudice, judgmental attitude and her skilled ability to make wrong assumptions; and she stayed that way to the end of the story. I disliked her half the time, although she did have a heart even if some of her foundation is weak; add that she’s immature, or too self-righteous, for her age.
The main male character is a considerate, kind young man confused by her actions. He also has a heart of gold and the ability to help others. Add the jealous, self-centered viper whispering in both their ears. The rest of the supporting characters are perfect in their roles and Dylan shines like a light in the dark.
The storylines are good and the vivid descriptions place the reader right in the middle of the perfect Christmas package. I enjoyed the festival, the decorations, most of the characters and the heartwarming story of two people trying their best and finding the meaning of family. I found this book on Booksprout. 4*
The characters were great and realistic. We again meet up with some of the small town residents, but if you’d not read the books before it in the series you’d not be lost.
The main characters were new in town, but fit in well… and were a great excuse to explain who some pf the people were.
It was great to “see” Dylan again. He was awesome. Even though he’s still a bit flighty, it seems to be with purpose now. 🙂
The story was a sweet small town romance with a great plot… until the paranormal moment in the last few paragraphs ruined it for me.
Love at the Christmas Festival is a sweet, heartwarming romance that includes the magic of Christmas. Holly, a student, desperately needs a job during the Christmas season. Nick wants Christmas to be perfect for the people in Sugar Maple. With some stumbles along the way, Nick, as Santa, and Holly, as an elf, just may find the secret to Christmas magic. I could not put down this well written romance that should be a Hallmark movie!
I loved this Christmas romance! I think I liked this book even more than the first. I loved the characters (even the annoying ones fit the story well) and this small town and all of the love and family. This book was like coming home. Warm and happy.
