From New York Times best selling author, Kelly Elliott, comes a new series her Wanted fans will adore. Filled with love, hope, and second chances, Love at First Sight, is book one in the Southern Brides series. Each book in this series will be stand alone books. Love at first sight. That’s what it was when Rip Myers came up to me in kindergarten. From that point on, we were inseparable best … kindergarten. From that point on, we were inseparable best friends.
When I work up the courage to tell Rip I love him, I am met with rejection. He tells me he treasures our friendship too much. That statement might as well be a knife to my heart.
I want to hold out hope that he’ll change his mind.
Instead, he moves on.
The only choice I have is to pretend that doesn’t slay me.
So, I say yes…to the man I love. But he isn’t the man I’ve been in love with nearly my entire life.

Finally is all I have to say for Kelly Elliott and this new series. The Southern Brides starts with two people who even me have been waiting for well forever. Chloe Parker is a country girl all the way and Texas is well just home in every way. Her family is there and Rip Myers, the one man that has always been there. Friends, best friends is all he can give her and dang does this just made me want to slap some sense in him. Kelly Elliot did great justice with these two and there were moments I cried. Readers will understand once you get to the part in the book. Love at first sight is definitely something we should always cling on too and see it bloom for something far beyond soul mate level. To get the full effect of these two, readers highly recommend this book and the Cowboys and Angel’s series to see where it all really started. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
I love everything Kelly Elliott writes and Love at First sight is no different! GET HER BOOKS! <3 So Romantic.
THIS. WAS. AMAZING!!!!!
It is everything I have ever excepted from Kelly. She takes the term southern gentleman to another level.
Rip and Chloe have been best friends since childhood. As they grew older feelings changed BUT there was always the underlying fear of loosing your best friend. But to me your spouse is your best friend.
Perfect for each other that’s what they are, there was some laughing some crying and there were a few times I yelled at Kelly through my kindle. But to put it in a nut shell this book was amazing

What an AMAZING start to this new series by Kelly Elliott!! I loved every word of this book. I was so excited to read this story and I couldn’t put it down.
When I first met Chloe as a spunky 5 year old in Lost Love (Book 1 of the Angels & Cowboys Series) I instantly fell in love with her and when she set her sights on Rip (Jonathon’s younger brother) I just knew they needed a story!! I was so happy to find out Kelly wrote their journey. It was everything I was hoping for and more.
This book was an emotional, angsty and heartwarming friends to lovers story. Chloe and Rip’s story had it’s ups and downs but I couldn’t help but root for their HEA. This book was like coming home….I loved that we got to be back with a favorite family of mine…The Parkers.
As I said Love At First Sight is the first book in Kelly’s Southern Bride Series and I think it is off to a great start. I can’t wait to find out what the other books in this series are about.
This is a standalone novel and is told in dual POV. You do NOT have to read the Angels & Cowboys series first before enjoying this story, but I would highly recommend reading that series to get the full effect of Chloe and Rip. You get the start of their backstory in that series. Now don’t get me wrong if you don’t or haven’t read that series first, Kelly does an excellent job filling in the gaps and the backstory of Chloe and Rip. Trust me though, you want to meet Chloe as a 5 year old….she was so funny and her love for Patches the goat carries into this story.
In this story we follow Chloe and Rip from childhood to adulthood. As I said before Chloe has been carrying a torch for Rip since she was 5 years old. Now that she is an adult she has decided to tell Rip of her true feelings, but when she is met with rejection…she decides that their friendship is too important and moves on, letting her true dream fall. So now at the end of her college career and planning to move back home and take over her family ranching business, she is surprised when her boyfriend pops the question. Even more surprising she says yes. What will happen when she goes home and confronts Rip?? Is she truly over her one true love?? Can Rip and Chloe ever get their HEA?? Read this book to find out.
As I said earlier, I loved being back with the Parker’s. This family is so close knit, it made me want to join their family. They will have you laughing, crying, but overall feeling the love they have for each other.
I would 100% recommend this series to everyone romance reader out there. This book brought me back to my Wanted Series days and the love I had for that group of characters. I thought Rip was just as swoony as Gunner, once he got out of his own head. Trust me you WANT to read this book!!! Definitely a favorite of mine for 2019!!!
I absolutely adored this one! To see the gang all grown up especially Chloe made the storyline tangle with the books that proceeded it. Rip and Chloe were made for each other. The turmoil, angst, love, heartbreak, almost every emotion is drawn out of the reader with this one. Only one other book has made me cry through the majority of reading it and I’m not even mad about it. Let us not forget Patches the goat and we have a story that you can’t help but be drawn into.
The thing I love about all of Kelly’s books is the way she sets up the backdrop. Her ability to write Texas scenery makes it feel like you live there. Her characters are always well developed and while most romance books all follow the same theme, the way she writes her characters makes you feel like you know them personally.
This book will give you all the feels. A definite one-click for any Kelly fan. A must one-click for anyone who loves hot cowboys and being taken on an emotional roller coaster.
Total Swoonworthy read. I read the entire series of Cowboys and Angels and was so excited that Chole and Rip would be getting their own story. I was ready to jump in my kindle and smack some sense into both these characters. Seeing the whole gang back makes me want to do a reread. Best friends to lovers books are my favorite trope out there. So much history and know they were meant for each other from the beginning. An excellent read if you want something that’s uplifting, sweet, hilarious, and all-around feel-good story. Must read.
Kelly Elliott is the best at small town romance. Add in friends to lovers and “Love at First Sight” is absolutely swoon-worthy!
I have never been so excited for a story. When I heard that we were getting Chloe Parker’s book, I was excited. There’s something about a friend to lovers story that gets me in the feels every time, Love at First Sight was no different. Once I started this amazing story, I didn’t want to put it don until it was over.
Rip and Chloe have been friends forever. Everyone knows they have feelings for each other, but them, which has your heart breaking but bursting at the same time. You are dying for them to get their act together and admit how they feel. Everything about this book has you wanting to know what happens and hoping they get their happy ending. I couldn’t help but love this swoon worthy story and all the love you feel between these two! I can’t wait for the next book in this series of standalones.
Y’all Kelly Elliott knows how to make me swoon!! I mean this cover alone, I have been loving since day 1. Rip and Chloe’s story is magic. Adding in the southern charm makes my heart sing. It doesn’t get any sweeter than this!! Rip and Chloe are magic together and Kelly’s writing is spot on.
Rip and Chloe, best friends since childhood. There’s always something about childhood best friends to lovers that pulls at my heart strings. From the slow burn, to the quick pace of their relationship, these two were creating sparks all over every page. Every glance, quickened heartbeat, and secret smile let me know they’re destined to be together. I was so taken, so smitten with this story. Rip and Chloe are everything It’s a little classic, a little country and a whole lotta loving.
Love At First Sight will have you falling head over heels for romance again. Kelly Elliott is quickly becoming a go-to author for sweet, beautifully written stories that make my heart soar!!
A soul binding, angsty love story, told beautifully! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Love at First Sight was just everything, first love, angsty, and soul binding chemistry. What happens when you meet the love of your life at 8 yrs old? When two kids find their soul mates and best friends so young? You find fear and hope, but they both have to get over the fear to find their forever.
I have not read such a beautiful telling of a perfect love story. This has it all .
Yes, it’s here. Love at First Sight…the story of Chloe and Rip. I have longed for this story since first being introduced to a young Chloe (and her announcing her love for Rip) in the book Lost Love (the story of her parents) from the Cowboys and Angels Series. Love at First Sight is a stand alone novel but holy hot cowboy….. I would definitely read this series first. Really, who would NOT want all the swoon-worthy goodness from all the Parker family??? That is just my opinion!!!
It all began a kindergarten class, many years ago when Chloe Parker announced her love for Rip Myers. After that they were inseparable!!! As they moved on from grade school to college, that love she felt never changed. Though she kept her feelings hidden until one moment. She shared and ended up with her heartbroken, completely shattered. Her only choice was to move on. Keep her heart and those feelings that remain forever locked away.
Rip loved Chloe, she was his best friend. He loved spending time with her. She was beautiful, her smile..her heart. He was also quite the protective friend, he wouldn’t let just anyone be with his Chloe… that’s just a ‘friends’ feeling, right? Soon he discovers that those feelings are far deeper. Chloe finds the courage to express her love but Rip cannot risk losing his best friend. When she walks away, she takes his heart with her.
Chloe has no choice but to walk away. Move on as if her heart isn’t shattered each and every time she hears his name, his voice! Their lives move forward. Chloe finds herself saying yes to a man that doesn’t hold her WHOLE heart. Rip finds himself having to face the fact his Chloe may be lost forever. Can they both open up about the past. Share what their hearts having been showing them all along? Find that friendship is just a big part of finding that one true love?
I cannot sing my praises enough for author Kelly Elliott’s latest release, Love at First Sight. With any book series having cross over characters the flow sometimes seems rushed or confusing. Not so at all with this book. The flow was seamless, all the characters as perfect as when we were first introduced to them, and the love story just as phenomenal as I could have ever imagined. Let’s not forget this love story began back in grade school. We have heard about Rip off and on for a bit. To finally see how Chloe has grown, how her character has evolved over the course of the first series was just beautiful! Not to mention we are given glances at the beautiful lives of our beloved Parker family.
I have said numerous times…oh this book is my favorite. Truly, this book was. The author gave us a story that had a beautiful foundation built on friendship and yes love. To see how that evolved over the course of the book, oh my heart! She also gave us a strong family unit! We saw that over the course of the Cowboys and Angels series and now we see it has only grown in the book Love At First Sight. We see how family helps one another. How two people try and move beyond heartache, beyond hurt to grasp onto the one thing we all desire….LOVE. As with any Kelly Elliott we are given what we all long for, a happily ever after! Kudos author Kelly Elliott for yet another amazing love story!
WOW I couldn’t put this book down. This is definitely my new favorite book by Kelly Elliott. I have read all her books. Chloe has been a favorite character of mine from the Cowboy and Angels series. Chloe and Rip’s story is one you don’t want to miss. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would.
Love At First Sight, features Chloe Parker and Rip Meyers, who both feature as children in the Cowboys and Angels series. I adored Chloe as a precocious and spunky child, so I was more than eager to see her as an adult, and discover their story.
This is a sweet, well written Southern romance that spans the majority of this pairs lives. If you love a charming, emotional, angsty and humorous read, this is the book for you. I was completely captivated from start to finish.
All of Kelly Elliott’s books have strong themes of friendship and family and Love at First Sight is no different, and I will be eagerly awaiting the next addition to this series.
Chloe Parker and her animal best friend, Patches, will always hold a special place in my heart because Kelly Elliott introduced readers to these two in Lost Love, book one of her Cowboys & Angels series, my favorite of hers, and Chloe and Patches always brought a smile to my face throughout each scene they were in, stealing hearts and causing chaos.
So when I found out that the first book in Elliott’s newest series, Southern Bride, would be about Chloe and Rip Myers, another character readers met in Cowboys & Angels, I couldn’t wait to see how these two would finally acknowledge that their best friend status since they were in kindergarten turned into something so much more then either of them were willing to admit out loud for fear of ruining a friendship that had become essential to both of them.
As you can imagine, trying to get Chloe and Rip on the same page after Chloe shared her true feelings with him and Rip was a coward and lied about how he felt about her was not an easy journey or something that could be easily fixed; in fact, Rip’s rejection seemingly forced both of their hands and prevented them from experiencing every important first together, breaking their hearts and reshaping the future that they thought they would have together.
As expected, the fact that Chloe and Rip gave up on each other a bit too easily frustrated me as someone on the outside privy to both characters’ perspectives. Like their family and friends, it was abundantly clear just how much Chloe and Rip loved each other, beyond the friendship status, but feelings can be overwhelming and frightening, so the fact that neither of them handled things well wasn’t surprising, but as a hopeless romantic, I just wanted them to get it right from the start!
But there are no redos in life…there’s not a way to turn back time and change their reactions, so if Chloe and Rip want a chance at forever, they need to let go of the past, let go of the hurt, and fight for what they’ve always wanted – each other.
Even when Chloe and Rip struggled to find their way back to each other, I knew that Elliott would help them figure it out, and when that happens, it’s full steam ahead, which I thought was perfect for these two based on how long they’ve known each other and what they always knew they would be one day, making Love at First Sight not just an expression but a fact, which is exactly what everyone who knows Chloe and Rip wanted them to have and is why their story was the prefect start to Elliott’s Southern Brides’ series.
4.5 Poison Apples
OH MY HEAVENS! Kelly slayed me with this book! I couldn’t read it fast enough and yet I never wanted it to be over! It gave me ALL THE FEELS and I adored seeing grown up Rip and Chloe. This book held me captivated and I was lost in Chloe and Rip’s world. My heart hurt for her at times. I loved the strength of Chloe’s family and the way in which their friends and family didn’t try to push either of them, but were there for them. This was such a beautiful book! Please don’t miss it!
Swooooooooon. Next-generation, best friends since six years old, finally get over their hang-ups and get together, plus set in a small town. SIGN ME UP! Kelly Elliott, my Queen of small-town romance, delivers with the much-anticipated story of Chole and Rip in Love at First Sight. We first saw these two as children in Kelly’s Cowboy and Angels series were Kelly teased us with their potential romance. Chloe the curly blonde bundle of energy and daughter of Steede. Rip the quiet alpha male in the making and brother to Jonathan, Waylynns husband. I can’t help but get excited for friends to lovers story, especially when the couple has been friends all their life. Also, can I say this cover is my favorite cover of 2019? So romantic and absolute perfection tying to the book. If I had any critique, it would be that it felt a little dragged out. I thought the last chapters could have summarized into an epilogue and still had the same effect. As always though Kelly brings out the feels through her words and Love at First Sight was no different. Be prepared for the Southern Bride Series to sweep you off your feet!
SO EXCITED FOR CHLOE’S STORY I CAN’T HANDLE IT! We met Chloe (and Rip) in Kelly’s previous series, and I was so excited that although she wasn’t continuing that series to the next generation was providing us with Chloe’s love story and it was everything I could want and more! Chloe and Rip have been in love with each other since childhood but are both too afraid to act on those feelings. When the pair starts college and Chloe attempts to but is shut down by Rip, she decides to move on, although her feelings remain the same. When her current boyfriend decides to propose after graduation, Chloe says yes although it feels completely wrong, and it tears Rip apart. Thankfully, she comes to her senses and calls off the engagement soon after, and after hashing their feelings out; Rip and Chloe start to date. With the quirks that involve the Parker family, they add a level of comedy and familiarity to this book that makes you feel part of them with knowledge of their inside jokes and what they mean. Things then start to go on overdrive for the pair, and they start to fulfill the plans they made as dreams as children. Per usual, I can’t get enough of Kelly’s books, and this one was no exception with all the things I love about her storylines and style of writing. With Kelly stating she isn’t continuing the next generation of the Parker family, I’m eager to see who’s next in this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Kelly Elliott pens another heartwarming story. She gives us an emotional story of two best friends. Two best friends who have loved each other since they were little. Two people who are each other’s other half.
Heartfelt
Unputdownable
Addictive
A must read.
Highly recommended.
Absolutely stunning cover!!! Rip and Chloe have always had something special ever since they became friends. As the years just kept counting by so did their love but they never acted on it. So many chances, so many lost opportunities.
My heart broke in times at this book, you know the kind where you’re reading through your tears. I was so mad at Rip, I mean I was furious with him. UGH just writing this makes my blood pressure go up lol! Not for what he did but what he didn’t do.
This book will definitely make you feel ALL the feels. It had me keeping my fingers crossed for these two that they would finally get it right that they did belong together, to stop fighting it. I loved their families and all the advice that they would try to impart to Rip and Chloe. LOVED this book and can’t wait for the next in the series!
Love At First Sight is the first book by Kelly Elliott that I have read. I received a free copy of Love At First Sight from a private Facebook group. I thoroughly enjoyed Love at First Sight, who doesn’t love a second chance at love romance. I could not put it down. I loved the setting and the characters. I love how Love At First Sight is written in the first person from the perspective of both Chloe and Rip. Love At First Sight is the story of childhood best friends Chloe Parker and Rip Meyers. Rip has never been willing to take the chance to explore a relationship with Chloe. He doesn’t want to lose her as his best friend. When Chloe and Rip head off to Texas A&M for college, Chloe takes their relationship into her own hands and lets Rip know how she really feels and what she wants out of him, something more than friendship. Rip is shocked and does not respond how Chloe had expected or hoped. Chloe and Rip remained friends. When Chloe returns home to the ranch following graduation, she is an engaged to another man, Easton. While spending time at home with Easton and her family, and after Easton returns to Houston, Chloe realizes that she has made a mistake and cannot marry Easton. The book is filled with poignant and bittersweet moments. I love how Rip made all Chloe’s childhood dreams come true. I love the surprises and plot twist that Kelly Elliott includes in Chloe and Rip’s story. It was a wonderful story and Kelly Elliott is am amazing storyteller. It was an incredible second chance at love story. I loved that I got a chance to discover a new author and I will be reading more stories in the Southern Bride series.
