My first impression of him: Rude, hostile and a huge jerk … with a sexy booty! He was the one who called ME to sell his huge array of antique stuff. But when we get into an argument with him calling me cheap, it was clear he regretted even finding our little shop. And after this first encounter with the guy, I thought I would never again lay eyes on that delicious ass.But like always, fate had a … ass.
But like always, fate had a way to intervene where it should not. Especially when I discover a secret box in one of the many antique pieces of furniture I picked from his place.
It was old and the secrets contained in them too precious … so I asked him to over to my place to pick it up … who knew this would end up with him kissing me in my own bathroom right in the middle of the night!
This is the third and last book in the steamy romance series, Rules of Love and can be read as a standalone. No cheating. No cliff-hanger. And the kind of ending you will just love. Team HEA all the way!!

Laney who has had terrible luck with men is seriously attracted to Hector. Hector has lost every one of his relatives and feels lost. Now he has to sell his farm and doesn’t know what he is going to do or where he is going to live. When he contacts Laney’s company about selling all of his grandmother’s antiques before selling the farm, she finds letters in one of the dressers. Who wrote the letters? How do they have anything to do with him? Thank goodness Laney doesn’t give up easily. You feel so bad for all of Hector’s losses, but a HEA after all. Emotional.
This is the perfect ending to the trilogy. Laney is one of the owners of an antique shop and is the only one not married. She has dated a lot of guys most of whom have treated her badly and taken advantage of her kind nature. Due to a scheduling conflict to do an antique pick, checking out a client’s antique furniture, by one of the other owners, Laney goes to check out a farm’s, owned by Hector Erwin, offerings. Laney and Hector are both expecting the other one to be old. Hector and Laney both feel an attraction to each other when they meet but Hector is grumpy. He has recently lost his grandmother, the last of his known family. His parents died when he was younger than 1yrs old. He has lived and worked on the farm all his life and has no idea what he is going to do once the farm is sold…and he needs to sell it for the money. There are misunderstandings, a fainting scene, a pseudo-rejection, laughter, tears, love and story twists. This is a book worth reading.

I was looking forward to the third book in the Rules of Love Series, but this was my least favorite book in the series. I thought Laney was very quick to develop a relationship with Hector, who was less than friendly at first. Their relationship moved way too quickly after a very strange beginning where Hector became very emotional and was comforted by Laney, a stranger. Their love seemed to develop over time for these two lonely souls, but just didn’t understand the attraction.

This book pulled me in and kept me entranced till the end. The feelings of love, hate, and pain coming out in waves making you want to cry while you read. This was such a beautiful book! I loved the characters’ wholesomeness!

I have come across Lindsey Hart before, but this is the first time that I really buckled down to read her work. And, what a nice surprise!
Just like the box that brought Laney and Hector together, I found myself another author I could definitely put on my reading list of new-to-me authors that I would love to keep.
Why? Lindsey Hart’s story about two lonely people meeting by fate–one struggling to through the fact that everyone he loved–his parents, his grandma and grandpa, has left him all alone and adrift in the world, and her feeling like men only want to take advantage of her, and so she became jaded about the concept of finding someone worthy of her love–is both poignant and sad, but nonetheless can happen in real life. Both of them craving to be loved, but feeling like they did not deserve to be loved.
Laney and Hector’s story had me teary-eyed, amused, frustrated all at the same time, and the ending was, quite frankly, if they were real characters, I would have bashed their heads together for being so stubborn!
Thank you, Lindsey Hart, for introducing me to Laney and Hector!
I highly recommend reading this book it really really really was a good book
Rules of Love is a series that is so easy to lose yourself in. Each book in this impressive series has an amazing storyline as well as the characters to match and Love Antique is just another example of Ms. Hart’s incredible talent. Follow along as Hector and Laney take their journey together. This book packs one heck of an emotional punch.
I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader’s copy of Love Antique in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend reading this book as well as the others in this series. Ms. Hart’s writing style is just a true delight to read.
Laney is the last of her friends to be married, and she’s feeling lonely. Enters lonely Hector with baggage that he’s struggling with. Can they find happiness together?
While I like the story, I felt that it could have been developed more. It was over just a it began. There’s no depth to there relationship. One chapter their relationship starts, then it’s 6 years later, they’re married with a baby. The end! I love happy ever afters, but it’s the journey of getting there that I long for. The beginning showed such promise for me, but the book left me craving more depth, struggle, and passion before getting to the happy ever after.

Hector is grieving and has a serious case of the feels. He’s realized that with his grandparents passing, he’s all alone.
Laney went on a pick to find antiques.
Instead, she finds Hector, who most surely needs the hand she extends to him in his time of emotional need.
Will he accept her comfort or continue to push her away?

3.5 stars. Sweet, with some spice, romance. Laney and her friends own an antique store where they buy, refinish, and sell pieces. Hector is in the process of selling his farm after his grandmother dies. The realtor told him that he needed to remove the barn in order to sell the house. He callls her shop to sell some furniture. When she arrives to see him, he is lots less than charming. Problem is, she feels an electric connection with him. He is just in a bad place right now and doesn’t want to get involved. Follow their trials and tribulations trying to work out kinks. Nicely written and entertaining.

– This book is a great romance but has a sadness throughout for Hector. His loneliness and the losses he went through was devastating. The characters were wonderful. It was easy to read, entertaining and held some surprises. I enjoyed the heartwarming story very much. I received this book as an ARC and I am voluntarily reviewing this book.

Falling unexpectedly in love
Hector has to sell his farm and antiques and isn’t happy about it. Lainy who has an antique shop gets a call from Hector that he has a lot of antiques to sell. They together and she gets the antiques that he wants sold. But he gets angry about the price ad calls her cheap. She thinks he’s rude but likes how he looks. After she looks at some of the antiques in her store finds a small old box that contains items that she thinks that he’ll want so she calls him to come get them. That night she gives them but after word he kisses her. She knows he’s angry about selling his antiques and farm and is willing to forgive him his attitude but will something happen between them?
Although it was a great story, the novel has problems with continuity that really affected my review. At the start of the story, Hector was suppose to be 40. Later, he stated that he would soon be 30. During their main love scene, Laney went from wearing a blouse, a tank top, and leggings to wearing a dress. Such carelessness drives me batty. I received a free ARC from BookSprout but I also bought the final edition from Amazon. The mistakes had not been corrected. Too bad as I do like this author and feel that she should have cared for her readers a little more than she did. 2 and 1/2 stars
Laney McLean listened to the special plans her two partners had for the evening with their family and decided to volunteer to visit the customer who had some antiques to sell to them for their very successful antique business. He had said it was somewhat urgent or they would miss out on some unique items. Her partners teased her that maybe this time, she would find a man worth dating – she had really horrible luck with men. But she figured with her luck, the customer would be in his 80’s. So they were all hoping for a grandson she could fall for.
Hector Erwin had lived with his grandparents on the family farm since his father and mother were killed in a car crash. He stayed with them into his adult years to help, but now they were both deceased and he knew he had to sell the farm. But he wasn’t ready quite yet, so he decided to sell some of the antiques in the barn and house for income until he couldn’t afford to stay any longer. The truck pulling a huge trailer was an hour late! He had expected an older lady with grandchildren, so he was stunned when a woman looking to be in her 20’s jumped out of the driver’s side door. He almost told her to get back in the truck. She would insult his antiques by offering far less than their worth, he just knew it. He was annoyed, angry, and didn’t like her – or anybody else either! He knew she was putting on an act and probably looked down on him. He was ready to jack up the price of things just to teach her a lesson! When he realized she assumed he would come with her to the barn to look at things, he felt intimidated and uncomfortable. She reached out to shake his hand, but he didn’t want to touch her and just walked past into the barn!
This guy was really rude, but he attracted her – another example of her bad luck with men! He keeps trying to push her away, then he calls her back. When she decides to keep a dresser for herself, she finds a box in it and calls Hector to let him know. Both of them experience misunderstandings, yet they still don’t want to let go. Do they have a chance with each other? Can they figure out what they really want? How will the surprise Hector discovers in the box affect his life?
This was quite an emotional roller coaster. Hector had been home-schooled and had no social skills. This made it difficult for him to be around people and explains his crazy thought processes and actions. So it was wonderful to see Laney connect and try to help him. The characters were really well presented to let the reader know what they were like, what they were experiencing, and how they felt about each other. The story line was well written and moved at an appropriate pace. As the readers start to understand what’s going on, the story will pull them in. Don’t miss the chance to read this one! It will definitely touch you!
As I said about Love Auction, I say again about Love Antique, I love this story, not only because it was base in Houston, my home, but also because this is so opposite of what we read – the damsel in distress is no longer instead is the “macho” in distress. I love that this wasn’t a story about a woman needed to be swept up and taken care of instead it was a man that was lost in soul and needed to be guided out. As always, a woman’s touch saves the day. This story is about Hector and Laney, which Laney is part owner of the antique shop in Houston and he is out in the country about to sell his family’s farm. The initial interaction is something else and binds them together without knowing. There is sadness and surprises along the way but it is definitely something worth reading about. I love when it’s not all about the rich billionaire and the help. This book will keep you intrigued until the end.

I loved the first two in this series for the drama and romance but this gave much more. You had a story about grief, self worth, and romance. It also a story pretty relevant since a lot of single farms are dying. Hector and Laney made a adorable couple to root for, plus you had Rayvn and Charlotte supporting their friend Laney. Overall a totally enjoyable emotional romance story that I am honored to read and review the last book in this series. ARC
What a rocky road! Wow could things get any messier in this relationship? Mixed signals for sure. This story was so quaint being set in a picker relationship. The tug for compassion for loss of family and a farm thrown in just added to the allure. Good bones for this story.
