Marissa Grayson’s dream went up in smoke. A devastating fire has ripped apart her family’s bed and breakfast, leaving her off-kilter and scrambling to repair the damage. What she doesn’t need, or have time for, is Rhenn Burleski. Sexy, confident, and dangerous to her heart. A man who clearly knows his way around the female body and will leave the moment the sheets start to cool. Yet that doesn’t … doesn’t stop her from making a deal with the devil himself.
Work hard, play harder. That’s Rhenn’s life motto. An electrician by day, Rhenn turns it up at night, always with a different lady friend in tow. He makes sure they know the score: he’s not looking for anything more than one night of fun. However, he knows the second he meets the shy daughter of the bed and breakfast’s owner that his life is never going to be the same. As hard as he tries, he just can’t resist one taste.
What happens when their time is up and Rhenn must leave, returning to his old life? Will they be able to walk away, hearts unscathed, or will their time together prove to be nothing more than a fading memory?

Love and Pancakes is the first book in Lacey’s all-new series, Rockland Falls. I have had the pleasure of reading all of Lacey’s books and have loved them all. I know I will fall in the love with the characters, the towns, and their stories. The Rockland Falls series is full of new characters and also some previous ones from the Summer Sisters series. You don not need to read that series to fall for this one but you will definitely want to after meeting them.
The night of the fire changed everything. Marissa’s childhood home and bed and breakfast was everything to her and it was almost lost to the flames. It would had if she didn’t take a walk on the beach that night. It was only damaged with smoke, soot, and faulty wiring. It all needed to be cleaned and remodeled. It was going to take months to reopen the doors to her family’s business. The one she ran. Her baby. She couldn’t afford any distractions. Then, he enters her world. Rhenn. A man with a smirk that could melt panties off a nun. And he just so happens to be the electrician who is going to bring the Bed and Breakfast back to working order. Yep. She is screwed.
Rhenn knew from the moment he saw her, soot and all that he wanted a taste. He also knew one taste wouldn’t be enough. That was why he told himself to keep clear of the shy, beautiful woman who he wanted to lay out in his bed. On his bed. On the forest floor. He was only here for a few weeks and he knew she wasn’t the kinda woman who would only want one night of pleasure. She is the kinda woman who would want a forever. Well…he doesn’t do love. He does one night stands. But, he can’t help the way his body and mind reacts to Marissa. Will she be onboard with a little no-strings attached fun while he is in town?
Awe! I love Rhenn and Marissa! The slow burn between them is sexy as hell. The fun banter is refreshing for them both. The way they bring each other out of their comfort zones is both sexy and emotional. I liked Rhenn is My Kinda Forever as Nick’s best friend but I fell for him hard in this book. I couldn’t wait to see a woman bring him to his knees and Marissa is a perfect match.
Overall…it’s an amazing start to a new series! It’s so fun to get to know new characters and catch up with old ones. This story made me laugh out loud, cry, and get all kinds of hot and bothered.
Quotes:
I’m not sure if she’s feeling the same pull as I am, or if it’s the fact that she looks like Cinderella right now after cleaning the entire castle.
He whispers against my ear and I have to bite back the moan. “What else is on that magical list of yours, Angel?”
“Back when you were younger?” I bet they have stories for days.
“Younger? Shoot, Rhenn. Last Tuesday.”
I love Lacey Black. She won my heart with her Summers sisters series and that love keeps getting stronger and stronger. To be honest I was a bit afraid that this book will not live to the expectation that I had but boy was I wrong.
She delivered us one heartfelt, funny, emotional read. I devoured this book in one sitting and now I just want MORE.
I loved Marrisa and Rhenn. I loved how they were fighting the attraction even when the chemistry was sizzling hot and I loved how much they both wanted to play it cool and pretend that “the end” won’t hurt. As usual I shed a few tears and I’m not a shamed off it 😛 I loved the appearance of Summer’s clan. This whole story put a smile on my face that I just couldn’t wipe it off. I LOVED IT <3 .

AMAZING start to the series!!!! If you have read the Summer Sisters Series, and I really hope you have because it was great, you will remember Orval and Emma their spunky grandparents this series is about Orval’s sister Mary Ann’s children and we start with her youngest Marissa.
Marissa and Rhenn have a connection that is undeniable, their sexual chemistry is thru the roof and everyone around them can feel it, and I mean EVERYONE! Rhenn is the player, he had his hart broken years ago and will never be in a position for that to happen again, where Marissa is the safe one, no one-night-stands, no causal hookups, no anything unless she is in a committed relationship, that is why it is so hard for either of them to think that they could have something for the time Rhenn is working on repairing the wiring at Marissa’s B&B after the devastating fire that occurred.
This story has it all, a great group of people that you want to get to know better, a good story line that isn’t forced or choppy, and a couple that has you rooting for them right from the beginning. Lacey Black does it again with the start of the Rockland Falls Series…she hits another one out of the park! There wasn’t one thing that I didn’t like about this story, and that’s saying something. If you read my reviews about some of the Summer Sister Series books you will know that Orval and Emma remind me of my Aunt and Uncle whom I love dearly but if you aren’t use to their openness it will be a shocker, I personally think that every family needs an Emma and Orval.
This book is easy to recommend for lovers of Contemporary Romance but it is intended for those 18 and over due to graphic language and descriptive sex. Happy Reading!!!
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
Lacey Black has done it again, she has given us another amazing start to a new series with Love and Pancakes!! I was so sad to see the Summer Sisters Series come to an end, but this new series is a spinoff, and extended family, so you see glimpses of everyone you love and miss!! Marissa and Rhenn meet after there is an electrical fire at the bed and breakfast Marissa runs with her mother in Rockland Falls. Rhenn is hired to rewire the house, and of course there is instant chemistry between Marissa and Rhenn. Rhenn has given up on love because he was hurt in the past by who he thought was “the one” so he’s decided he’s not a relationship kinda guy. Is Marissa the one who may change his mind? I love everything Lacey writes, and will shout from the rooftops how much I love this book, and hell yes I recommend EVERYONE read this book..can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next in Rockland Falls!! Thank you Lacey for another awesome book!!
I freaking loved this book and could hardly put it down once I’d started it.
Marissa and Rhenn are the cutest and the tension that builds up between them? Whew! Someone get me a fan. While some may or may not appreciate the buildup and the mental, emotional battles the two characters face, I feel it makes for very realistic and relatable characters, and I love them more for it.
Also, those pancakes sound freaking delicious. I might seriously have to find a recipe!
This is the first book I’ve read of Lacey’s, and I CANNOT wait to read more!
I received an arc of Love and Pancakes. It was everything you would expect from Lacey Black and more. It introduces a whole new collection of characters, with very big personalities.
Rhenn and Marissa have some serious sexual tension that you feel from their very first meeting and only gets stronger throughout the book. It is HOT!! I don’t want to say too much and spoil the story for everyone else.
Throughout the book, We are visited by some of our favourite people from the Summer sisters series, who ramp up the comedy in a way only these inappropriate grandparents can do, and I just love them!
All in all I would say this book is an absolute must read and is the perfect introduction to a new series. Its fun, hot, and will make you hungry!
Love and Pancakes by Lacey Black is the First book in the Rockland Falls Series. This is the story of Rhenn Burleski and Marissa Grayson. Marissa helps her mom run their Bed and Breakfast but when there is a fire they have to call in help to start repairs on it. This is how Marissa meets Rhenn who has come for a few weeks to help get the Bed and Breakfast up and running again. Rhenn doesn’t do commitments and has only physical encounter / needs with a women. So when his feelings start to take on more for Marissa he tries to fight it. They both agree to a friends with benefit type relationship while his is in town. Marissa isn’t someone who sleeps around nor has these types of encounters so she is making a big leap going out of her comfort zone. Can they end that relationship after the job is done? Enjoyed this book.
This is an insta love romance that has insane chemistry. Rhenn and Marissa are great together. This is the first book in a series about the Grayson siblings and If this book is any indication it is going to be a whole lot of fun. I love all the characters and the writing is spot on and best yet we get some really great cameos from some Summer Sisters Series.
I am so ready to read more from this family.
**I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review**
Love and Pancakes is a sweet romance that progresses very quickly between Marissa, a B&B Manager and Rhenn an Electrician. The attraction is instant and I was all in. Things are supposed to just be casual between the two since Rhenn will be going back home once his job is done. The time they spent together was super cute and steamy. Add in Marissa’s siblings and some extended family and I found Love and Pancakes to be a great feel good romance to help take my mind off the world right now. I definitely look forward to reading about the rest of Marissa’s siblings, especially Harper with her lingerie store and Samuel who is always in a suit.
This is my first read by this author and I totally enjoyed Rhenn & Marissa’s story!
While I would have loved some more drama/angst within their story…this story really did fit this couple. Their chemistry is hot, the banter/hot looks are great, they both have a great sense of humor….really an enjoyable read all around!
Oh and there are really no words to describe Orval & Emma! You all need to read this book to learn more about these two!
I am looking forward to continuing on with this series.
Nice romance.
When Marissa’s family bed and breakfast catches fire, she knows that she must do everything to repair it. In walks Rhenn, a hot contractor who wants spark something more with the beautiful Marissa. After listening to her sister, Marissa decides to go for it with Rhenn, but what happens when it’s time for him to move on? Oh wow, I absolutely loved this story, it made me laugh, melted my kindle and brought me to tears. The characters were so enthralling and the story just drew me in and made me want to be there. Definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to read more from all these characters.
This is the first in a new series from this talented author, and what an amazing introduction this is! Rhenn who is a playboy electrician is not looking for any long term relationship. Marissa is shy and helps her mum run their B&B, which is where Rhenn starts working. This is a well written story which is endearing and with relatable characters, as well as being a sweet and steamy small town romance story. I highly recommend for all.
I really enjoyed reading the love story of Rhenn and Marissa.
Ever since I read about Rhenn in the Summer Sister series, I really wanted to read his story.
Rhenn had been burned by love in the past, so his motto is, have fun for the night, but be gone by the morning. That is until he sees Marissa for the first time. Speechless and drawn toward her in a way he never has been before. He tries numerous times to ignore his feelings, but to no avail.
Marissa is as sweet as they come. Pouring all her energy into the Bed and Breakfast family business, with cooking being her passion. When she sees Rhenn for the first time, she can’t even form 2 words together. Their spark is instant. Knowing Rhenn will be leaving town eventually, she tries to ignore the feelings she has.
For both them, ignoring the chemistry doesn’t last forever. They both think they can walk away from this unscathed. They both have a lot to learn.
The one thing I wish for this book was that the epilogue took place further down the road. I am sure we will see more of Rhenn and Marissa in the future.
Can’t wait for the next book!
While clearly part of a much larger universe, this book is a fast-paced romance that can be read as a standalone and is also the first book in the Rockland Falls series.
Marissa is a sweet B&B manager with a large, involved family. There’s been a fire due to old wiring, and this brings in Rhenn, an admitted commitment-phobic electrician. We can all see where this is headed, right? An agreement to have a temporary thing that turns into true love.
While not a totally unpredictable direction of plot, I found the characters sweet and enjoyable to follow and the romance quite steamy. I was also left wondering about the broader world these characters live in, and their histories.
If you need an escape to North Carolina with some great banter and electric attraction, give this one a read!
