5 out of 5 stars
The story Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal romance book that I loved reading. It pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until I had read the final page. It is a story that has a wonderful storyline and amazing characters. I loved reading about the characters of Emily Rollins and Sean LeBlanc. Emily is a woman who is strong and independent. She doesn’t believe in the supernatural or ghosts. She is someone who is trying to start over and move on with her life. Then she meets Sean. Sean LeBlanc is a medium. He owns his own haunted tour company. Since he first kissed Emily he can’t stop thinking about her. There is a chemistry and attraction between them. If only he can get Emily to accept the existence of ghosts. What does the future hold for Emily and Sean? When Emily receives a strange box can Sean convince her of the danger? Read this book to find out what happens. I love that this story takes place in New Orleans. I also loved that the story has an atmosphere that is both romantic and sultry. There is bantering that goes back and forth between Sean and Emily and scenes that are swoon worthy. Steamy scenes included in this book. There are additional characters that I enjoyed reading about their part in the story and their interactions with Sean and Emily. This is a wonderful story that you won’t be able to put down. Highly recommended.
The setting of this book is very familiar to me, which makes reading it a little more fun for me. I loved this book! There was mystery, suspense, romance and best of all humor! I enjoyed reading this book that I finished in a record time!
Love & Ghosts is a fantastic book! It’s full of exciting mystery, hot romance, ghosts, drama, uncertainty, heartache, fear, hope and love that really makes this one heart melting truly delightful read! I absolutely loved this book and you’ll not be able to put down! You’ll love the main characters Emily and especially Sean, along with all the other characters including the ghosts! It’s definitely one of the best books I’ve read all year!
I absolutely loved how this author Carrie Pulkinen’s creative writing style kept me glued to my seat! I actually loved the book enough to read it twice before reviewing which only happens with certain authors. I definitely would recommend Love & Ghosts to anyone looking for a really good book!
LOVE & GHOSTS is the first book in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series.
Sean is the owner of the Ghost Tours and sees and speaks to ghosts. This is part of who he is and he can’t change that even when he wants to for Emily, who has an aversion to anything ghost-like. She does have her reasons which are explained as the story progresses.
They are supported by a great cast of characters, including friends, family, and ghosts. I know Sydney has her own book but I’d love to get to meet some of the others more too.
The one thing I loved was the references to The Princess Bride, one of the best movies of all time in my opinion. I loved how Emily was the only one to get that he was the Dread Pirate Roberts! Perfect.
This was a suspenseful and light-hearted read that starts off the series with a bang. A brilliant read that I have no hesitation in recommending.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen
Stars-5
I think that this story had so many good things about it! There were so many different kinds of moments in this book: happiness, sadness, love, funny, and heartbreak. It was not an easy road for Emily and Sean, but it was great to read about. They each had things from their past to overcome. I also loved Sydney and Trish. They are awesome friends! This is the first book in this series, and I cannot wait to read what happens next.
Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen was a gripping read. I would give this story a five out of five stars. I love a good paranormal romance and this one had me from the beginning. I loved the characters, Emily and Sean came alive for me. The stories and the supernatural elements of New Orleans alone always manage to pull me in. I enjoyed the pacing, it is always something I look for but specifically in paranormal reads where sometimes certain elements can be drawn out.
Love & Ghosts is the first book in Carrie Pulkinen’s paranormal Crescent City Ghost Tours’ series. She takes us back to the lore of New Orleans so if you love all things NOLA then this book is for sure for you! It is my first read by this writer and I know that I will gladly follow her down the Crescent City Ghosts Tours for new adventures!
Love & Ghosts gives us Emily who has just moved to New Orleans after the death of her sister and to get away from her cheating boyfriend and oh, she does not believe in ghosts, AND Sean who has lived all his life in New Orleans and is struggling after the death of his wife and he is soo into all things ghost no doubts whatsoever! The writer weaves a mesmerizing story that ticks all your boxes, combines legends and ghost stories with her observations about NOLA neighbourhoods and architecture and I promise you will not be able to put the book down until you get to the end!
Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen. This story is probably my idea of the perfect mix of all things I love some suspense and mystery, romance and a paranormal adventure with amazing characters. Emily and Sean had me completely glued to my chair from beginning to end, I just couldn’t put it down. The plot is well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I’m a fan of the writers smooth and detailed storytelling. If you like a story that comes alive right before your eyes I definitely suggest this one because this author does a wonderful job of writing a story that catches even the smallest details. I can’t wait to see where the author takes readers next. Five big stars and I highly recommend this story!
Love & Ghosts is the first book in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series.
I loved Carrie’s Crescent City Wolf Pack series so I had to check this one out. This book did not disappoint. I’d give it more than five stars if I could. It does have a different feel than the Wolf Pack series, but the characters are just as entertaining and the story is expertly woven. I jumped into this book and couldn’t put it down. You can’t help but keep reading to find out what is up with the box!
One of my favorite things about this book was the costume that Sean wore to the ball and the running theme with it throughout the story.
Perfect Halloween season read! I look forward to reading the next book in the series!
I am not normally a paranormal fan, but I loved this story! The dynamics between the H and h were engaging, and the writing was beautiful. Very highly recommended!
Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen
Four Stars
This story was a good short read. I’m not usually into ghosts but this one was good. I felt that Sean made the story more intriguing. His acceptance for what others didn’t believe earned him points. He never forced his opinion on anyone. Now Emily tested my patience. Have you ever had a character rub you wrong from the beginning? That’s what she did to me. Her character just didn’t seem like she wanted to grow. That change was the worse possible thing. I did however enjoy the darker side to the story. That you could believe in something so much that it could take you over. It was scary and exciting. The author definitely grabs your attention with the after life.
Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours #1) by Carrie Pulkinen was an awesome book and my first by this author. My favorite books are books with ghosts and mediums. So I am so thrilled to add another author to my list of faves. I could not stop reading this book. It was so good! Not only did it hold my attention but it kept me wanting more. Lately I’ve been in a reading rut and I think this was my ticket out. Not only did I really enjoy the characters I loved the Princess Bride references. I can’t wait to see other books in the series and in the meantime hope to check out some of the authors other books. And ahem Carrie please go with at least 10 in the series? Ok? 5 star rating!
If I could review this book in one word, it would probably be “amazing.” I haven’t read a paranormal romance in a very long time. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but what I got was a really great read.
I love that its the hero that is the “sensitive” one in regards to spirits. Emily is different. She’s a little hard to like at times with her dislike for all things dealing with ghosts.
I have to admit I was a junkie for shows like “My Haunted House” and stuff like that when I had cable. So the stuff that happened with the box made me want to shake Emily. Actually, I wanted to shake Emily a lot.
Sean was so darn perfect. If I had book boyfriends, he would be one of them. I loved how he talked to the spirits and did his best to make Emily comfortable with herself.
There’s so much about this book I could go on about, but they all fall under the heading of spoilers and this book is really too good to be spoiled.
It has ghosts.
It has some baddies, alive and otherwise.
It has some smoking hot scenes. Mmmm hmm
There are some laugh out loud moments…on involving a dog and a hot dog cart, but I will say no more.
It has a bit of mystery…
Oh and then there’s Sean’s mother. Oh how I loved her. I give props to all writers that keep the parents lovable. I had bad mom’s and dad’s in books. They kind of make my heart hurt, because my family was great.
Oh and conflict…but I can’t go into that without…well..as Riversong from Doctor Who would say…SPOILERS.
This was just a fabulous story, and I loved all the characters both dead and alive that showed up. If you like paranormal fiction..oh and if you love NOLA, you have to read this book.
This is the first book in the series, and I really can’t wait for the next!
What a brilliant introduction to Carrie Pulkinen. This book has everything from romance, suspense, mystery and fantasy themes weaved throughout. I was captivated with this read from start till finish and couldn’t put it down. This author has an excellent writing style, it has been written extremely well and flows effortlessly from chapter to chapter. This author has created a read that is mentally visual the whole time you are reading, he has created two characters that are perfect for each other, they have chemistry, they are real and really make this story what it is, I loved how they meet and then the connection that develops with them over time.
Everything about this book pulled you in and it’s a read that shouldn’t be missed!
I highly recommend this read to all, I will defiantly be looking forward to reading more books from this author and books in this series until then do not miss this read!
A great read about trying to live life. Emily has been struggling to move on after the death of her sister. She goes to a masquerade ball with a friend and tries to enjoy herself and ends up dancing with a mystery man. Serendipity keeps making them bump into eachother, but problems arise when she finds out he runs a local ghost tour. Can she out her fear of ghosts behind her for a shot at happiness?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Emily stubborn but kind hearted underneath or Sean stuck between love of his profession and love of Emily. Great cast of supporting characters like Trish as the fun friend or Madeline as the kind and meddling mother.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the ballroom with the bright chandeliers and spacious rooms full of life and people. Or the bright colours of the costumes in bold reds or dark blacks or magical purples wonderfully written. Or the garden with its tall trees and shimmering fountain for that sense of peace away from the busy world. Or the bright colourful butterfly small and colourful and beautiful to repreeent reincarnation from Japanese mythology as a nice touch
The mix of fantasy of ghosts and realism of the clinic care hospital combined perfectly to mske for a captivating read. The mystery of the box was perfectly written, making you want to read on to find out what’s inside. The switch of narratives between Emily and Sean was well written and easy to follow with names at the start of the sections. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.
Love and Ghosts
By Carrie Pulkinen
Rated 5 stars
I loved this! I really enjoyed this easy to read story. The whole romance is amazingly sweet and very romantic. Sean was an quandary to me. He seemed so normal (and amazing) but there is that pesky “I see dead people” issue. That would be a huge pill to swallow and keep down. Although I was intrigued by that side of him. His past issues and how easy he accepted it. I loved his temperament through the story.
I have never been a fan of ghost books. Oh i loves to tell ghost stories but never in with a romance. This is one that i could easily read again and again. It didn’t insert the whole ghost theme as a romantic partner but as a secondary level. I liked that. I will think a little differently about getting a “chill” in the room now though. The whole ghost part was interesting to me. I would be curious how much is true and I wonder if a trip to the French Quarter should be in my future.
This is a smooth story that sparks your tummy flutters as well as firing your suspicion. It has heart and me smile! Another wonderful story by Carrie Pulkinen
