Readers often think of Job sitting on the ash heap, his life in shambles. But how did he get there? What was Job’s life like before tragedy struck? What did he think as his world came crashing down around him? And what was life like after God restored his wealth, health, and family?Through painstaking research and a writer’s creative mind, Mesu Andrews weaves an emotional and stirring account of … account of this well-known story told through the eyes of the women who loved him. Drawing together the account of Job with those of Esau’s tribe and Jacob’s daughter Dinah, Love Amid the Ashes breathes life, romance, and passion into the classic biblical story of suffering and steadfast faith.

Really makes you think. It Was very good.
The author of this book is one of my all time favorite authors. She brings the stories of the Bible to life.We know the people in the Bible were real and she let’s her readers see the very human side of our Bible heros.I don’t have to worry about language or content in her books. This one is about Job.
A beautiful story of redemption, loss, and love.
This is a intriguing read that explores the mystery around the life of Job. Much of the inspiration behind this story comes from the histories hinted at in non-cannon texts and the lore of the time. I loved seeing how it all came together, placing Job as a contemporary of Jacob and Esau, taking …
Such a inspirational book. I felt like I was tooken back into time. The detail and characters are so memorable.
“Love Amid the Ashes” is Biblical Fiction on the story of Job. When I first picked up this book, I thought, “How will the author handle such a story?” After all, it did happen thousands of years ago and the book of Job is mostly dialogue – the Bible doesn’t even record the name of Job’s wife! With my interest piqued, I began reading.

For some, this book may be an outdated story from the time of the pharaohs, a moment in history that cannot adapt to our real life. But it is a book that deals with a subject we don’t like: suffering and the way we approach it. It is a book that remains relevant, no matter how many years have passed since the biblical story and how many more will …
Biblical fiction is one of my favorite genres, and this book was a perfect example of the best of its kind. The story of Job, as told by an innocent bystander, who becomes personally involved and invested in his survival. I know it’s fiction, but I learned so much about that time and that bible story, because the perspective was so different …
I really like Mesu Andrews. He books are wonderful!!!
Dinah is my favorite character in this story. Job endures a great deal and keeps trusting. I liked that the devil was given a name and a story to go along with his choices for Job.
I loved this retelling of Job and Dinah as they wrestled deeply with their questions about God. The history woven into this story is amazing as well. This is a book not to be missed.
Made the book of Job from the Bible, quiet alive. Graphic look at Jobs sufferings I had missed in my quick bible readings.
I did not find this one of the easier books to read. Even though based on the Biblical book of Job it is fleshed out with many other characters not mentioned there and has some unexpected twists and turns.
Loved this book.
Very good book hard to put down.
I always enjoy bible stories done with some fiction to help me understand the gist of story.
This book gives a story of long ago that is very similar to our times. It made the Bible story I never quite understood come to life.
Really enjoy this author’s books!!!!
I almost didn’t buy this book because I’ve never been a fan of the Book of Job. Mesu Andrews does a beautiful job of writing a plausible back-story for this ancient book of the Bible. Her novel brought the Biblical story to life and helped me develop a greater understanding of its life-changing truths.
It was so interesting. It showed me what it might have been like in Job’s time.
The book of Job was written hundreds of years ago, but this book brings the classic story into a new perspective that stay’s true to it’s origin while putting the whole bible into an entirely different perspective. I loved the story, the religious connection, and the amazing details that pulls this whole story into a possibility.
