Paul Martinez has been run ragged by the demands of managing the family’s landscaping business and his mother’s battle with dementia. It’s been so long since he had sex, he can’t remember the last time. The arrival of nurse Hope Russell brought some badly needed help to Paul and his brother Alex in managing their mother’s illness, but Hope’s presence has sparked a whole new problem for … Paul—lusting after one of his employees, something his late father would never condone.
Hope and her young son Ethan badly need this second chance on Gansett Island, and she’s determined to make her new job work for both of them. Kissing her boss, however, was not part of the plan. The more time she spends with Paul, the more she admires the way he cares for his mother and the attention he pays to her son. But when Paul finds out about her shameful past, will he still want her and Ethan in his life?
Come back to Gansett Island to find out what’s going on with all your favorite characters, including Mac and Maddie, Seamus and Carolina and the rest of the Gansett crew. Weeks before Alex and Jenny’s long-awaited wedding, Alex begins to worry that his bride is getting cold feet—or is something else going on? It’s September on Gansett where the days are cool, bright and sunny and the nights are hot and sexy! Approximately 90,000 words.

Welcome back to Gansett Island. This is book #13. I would not suggest reading this book without reading the other 12. I seriously doubt you could keep up with who is who without reading the entire series. Readers of this series get to go to an island where friends, family, and love are synonyms. Readers get a warm fuzzy feeling when they take a break from their reality and settle into the Gansett Island world. The main focus of the book is on Paul and Hope, but Marie Force keeps us updated and involved with past couples. There are so many points of view in this book you can’t name them all. I love the real world problems that Marie tackles in the books. The main topics of this book would be dementia and death of a young mother. I admire the way that Paul and Alex (who already had a book written about him) help their mom as she is suffering form dementia. They are true heroes. Hope is the nurse whom they hired to look after their mother. Paul and Hope fight the attraction because she is his employee. This is another wonderful addition to the series. Whenever there is a Gansett book, I’m ready to one click it. No cliffhanger, but there will be another story soon in which we can catch up with our favorite couples.
This 13th book’s story line was sad & loving. I really liked the hot & steamy scenes. Some parts of this story made me cry. I really liked how this story taught me what dementia was & gave me insight of how it affects the person & the family. I really liked Hope’s character. I also really liked Paul’s character. I felt sorry for Paul & Alex. I was very happy Alex & Jenny. I enjoyed reading the updates on the characters in this series. I really liked the ending. I’m really loving this series keep up the good work Ms. Force.
Marie knows how to keep you entertained as you follow the amazing lives of the characters of Gansett Island. Love after Dark has Paul falling head over heels for Hope and her son Ethan. You get more of Seamus and Caroline, Alex and Jenny’s wedding and of course my favourite Mac and Maddie. There is so much more to come from this wonderful island and I love every one.
A single mother looking for a fresh start…
A sexy business struggling with his mother’s mental illness…
When Paul and Alex hire Hope to assist with their mother’s care, a spark lights between Paul and Hope. But Hope is hiding more than just needing a “fresh start”. Things from her past make it difficult to trust and take a chance with Paul.
It’s Fall in Gansett Island and the leaves aren’t the only things changing color. New relationships are going from friends to more. Some relationships are growing from lovers to partners. I mean, there is never a dull moment on Gansett, which is why I love this series SOO much.
By embarking on this re-read journey, it’s so much easier to love and connect with all the characters. Plus, I love remembering how this island grows and blooms regardless of the season.
I encourage any reader to fall in love with this series.
This has been a wonderful series and the characters just keep growing. This book leaves you with warm fuzzies and ready to read more!
No one can honestly say that the Gansett island series avoids difficult or painful subjects. I think that is one of the things that makes them so compelling. Everyone in Gansett Island does not have a perfect life. I believe that some of the things that make you feel like life is so good for the residents is the outpouring of love, loyalty, and support from family and friends alike.
Hope and Paul’s story was sweet. She came along to help Paul and Alex deal with their mother’s dementia. Hope and her son Ethan, also found love and support by living on the Island. I did like Hope almost all the way to the end. Toward the end, I felt like she was willing to give up what she had found way too easily. I understood why she felt like she had to, but it didn’t seem like Hope tried to hard to investigate other options. I felt bad for Paul because he had finally gotten his chance, and thought he was going to lose it.
The situation with Lisa was sad. But Seamus, Carolina, and Gansett Island rallied around to find a solution.
One of the things I enjoy about these books is you get to revisit so many of the previous characters and there is always a new character introduced. If you have never read any of the series, I would be hesitant to start with this book. You absolutely could, but you might have some difficulty keeping track of everyone and their story. Or, it might just make you want to start at the beginning.
The bachelorette party scenario was good for a few chuckles. In this book, people were getting married, engaged, healing, struggling with breakups, deaths, etc., but it never gave off depressing vibes. I am looking forward to Slim and Erin’s story and wondering if Kevin and Chelsea will have a story.
A sweet, sexy, uplifting story with new beginnings and HEA’s.
This whole series was entertaining
I like books by Marie Force but if you don’t read them in a sequence it is more than difficult to connect the relationships with all the characters.
A woman with an unhappy past and a guy with an unpleasant now manage to find love and happiness on Gansette Island. And, we, the readers get to visit with other characters we have come to love on this island as we get to know this new match!
I love everything that Marie Force writes!
