Lindsay Willows craves a simple life. One where she can make a difference without drawing too much attention to herself. As the daughter of both a vampire and a fae, the cards were already stacked against her. Finding out she’s the supposed mate of a dark fae prince doesn’t help matters. Especially when there are those who will stop at nothing to prevent her from mating with a prince she’s never … never even met.
When Exavier Kedmen, the incredibly sexy front man for a world-famous band, shows up wanting her to go back to working in a field she left three years ago, she can’t explain the strong feelings that surface for a man she barely knows.
Lindsay finds herself confronting demons from her past, coming to terms with the ones in the present, and finally looking forward to a future with the man she was created for. And she discovers evil doesn’t care who it hurts to obtain its goals, but even the evilest of things fear something, or in the case of Exavier, someone.

Mandy Roth is one of my faves! If you get a chance, check out the audio of this book, too.
Lindsay and Exavier were very close when they were young. She is part fae-part vampire. They were best friends, even though he was 3 years older but are pulled apart by those who reckon they know better. They meet up again 20 years later. He is now a rock star and she runs a recreation centre. She fights off evil that believes she is the fated mate of the Dark Prince and they have been trying to kill her in order to make him suffer. When Lindsay meets a new Exavier, she reminds him of the easy company and safety she felt with herXavs when they were children. She tries to shake off the paranormal hokum whilst around her “human” Exavier but slowly he gets sucked into the madness and they fight the bad guys together with her friends.
As with all Mandy M Roth books the humour is only surpassed by the scorching sex scenes. I can’t wait to see what happens with the rest of the Gang. I’m rooting for Jay to get his girl
Inpatiently waiting for the next book!
Mandy Roth is always great!!
Can’t wait for the next one.
Mandy is one of my favorite authors. Any of her books is a winner. I have read this one 4 times. Just finished it again to read 2 nd in series. . I found a paperback copy of this from Samhain Publishing 2006. I was like .
A fun read, following the troubles of the characters, how they get into and out of jams. Interesting series.
This book is very exciting and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Love the characters and look forward to more books by Mandy M. Roth. I love her books!
I loved it from beginning to end. Couldn’t put it down till I finished the whole book can’t wait to start the next book
I couldn’t put this book down. Loved the way Jay, Myra and Gina protected Lindsay and she protected them. Love the relationship between her and Exavier. It was funny how the enemy kept underestimating Lindsey. Great Paranormal read
This book was predictable BUT I fell in love with the characters instantly & had it read in 2 days. They are a bunch of badasses but Linsay has a heart of gold with a backstory that had me shedding tears. I laughed, blushed, cried & woo hooed.
Can’t wait to read the next book! Mrs. Roth NEVER disappoints.
Lindsay Willows has horrific things happen to her. She is constantly under attack by people who want to find her “mate”. A man she does not know who it is. Exavier Kedmen is the lead in a band Loup Garou and wants her to come work for him in a field she left 3 years prior.
I love this book. I love Lindsay’s wit and the fact that she doesn’t realize what is right in front of her. Exavier is wanting to get to know Lindsay. There is an instant connection that Lindsay doesn’t understand and I loved seeing them come together. I love her friends and want to read Jay and Gina’s story. I also want to see what happens to Eion and the rest of Xavs band mates.
Enjoyed reading this book, it has a great storyline. Can’t wait for more from this author.
The rhythm of love
What an amazing book! I love this new set of characters and the way that the author made their coming together not just a struggle but a journey. A very long journey, that was so full of emotions and tears, love and laughter, and ends up in such joy that I cried right along with the characters. This book held all of the paranormal elements that the author does so well, including the danger and action and the fated mates, but the book was really focused on the love and the music. I really hope the author continues this series, I need to know that Eion and the crew get their mates and that Jay, Gina and Myra find their way to love. I think this is my second favorite series by this author, sorry no one can replace the Crimson Ops crew in my heart. No matter what the author brings our way next, I just know I am going to enjoy it.
To preface this, I have read a good number of Mrs. Roth’s newer books and enjoyed them. This was my first foray into her older work. This book was, not anything like her newer work. Skip ahead a decade and you’ll find her work is much MUCH better.
I hate leaving low star reviews, and I very rarely do because I’m a fairly easy please, but I can’t do that with this one. The plot was interesting and I enjoyed how the story was set. It pretty much ends there though. The book was written in first person perspective from only the female protagonist (Lindsay’s) view-this is always a hard sell for me as it makes the book less complete in my opinion both with only one view point and the whole first person bit. This book showcased that first person perspective problem beautifully. I frequently had a hard time knowing who was speaking, who was present, and honestly how we got there. The book seemed disjointed. Also, very, very long. The confusion trope was played out FAR too long: like, painfully too long. The male lead(Xavier/Zavier) I still know almost nothing about and have no feel for his actual personality or character.
All in all, I think the book had a great base, but the author hadn’t made it to the point in her writing where she could pull it off. The second book in this series is actually considerably better, I’m happy to report (Bad Moon Rising was written in 2018 vs this one in 2006).
The summary of this book sounded a lot better than the actual book. Perhaps I’m missing something but the only thing I’m missing is the time I spent reading this waiting for it to get better. Sorry not my cup of tea.
It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. It did not make me want to read any more by this author.
[Spoiler Alert Here]
I found it unlikely, verging on ridiculous, that the heroine never recognized the hero as her childhood first love. She should have been thinking along those lines on the given name alone.
this book was so bad it hurt to read. i quite literally couldn’t stop rolling my eyes
