It was a hell of a long shot…. CIA assassin Fortune Redding is about to undertake her most difficult mission ever—in Sinful, Louisiana. With a leak at the CIA and a price placed on her head by one of the world’s largest arms dealers, Fortune has to go off-grid, but she never expected to be this far out of her element. Posing as a former beauty queen turned librarian in a small bayou town seems … town seems worse than death to Fortune, but she’s determined to fly below the radar until her boss finds the leak and puts the arms dealer out of play. Unfortunately, she hasn’t even unpacked a suitcase before her newly inherited dog digs up a human bone in her backyard.
Thrust into the middle of a bayou murder mystery, Fortune teams up with a couple of seemingly sweet old ladies whose looks completely belie their hold on the little town. To top things off, the handsome local deputy is asking her too many questions. If she’s not careful, this investigation might blow her cover and get her killed. Armed with her considerable skills and a group of elderly ladies the locals dub The Geritol Mafia, Fortune has no choice but to solve the murder before it’s too late.

I really enjoyed the main character, probably because she sounds too much like me or how I’d like to be. Was so enjoyable I have read it more than once.
One of the BEST books I have read this year! Action packed and hilarious with just a pinch of romance. Never in my wildest dreams did I think hanging out with a couple of senior ladies would be so much trouble (or so funny )! I ‘m not sure the town of Sinful will be able to handle much more of this three-some but I’m going to read on to find …
Fun read.
I enjoyed it so much that I bought more in the series. All very enjoyable.
First off I have to agree with the reader who said (saw it on the Amazon page) “If you like Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series, you’ll love Miss Fortune.” whole heartedly!! You are going to love the Sinful Old Ladies-they sure know how to get things done–if in an unorthodox manner!! They are also great at keeping secrets and roping …
Funny, fun book!
Laugh out loud funny. Easy read. Couple of typos but they were easy to overlook.
Totally unrealistic, but funny and entertaining. The lead character is great, cynical fun, and any mystery reader will love her. This is a terrific weekend diversion.
I suggest you start with book one and then binge read through book 14. This series really does make me laugh out loud.
THis book was OK…definitely better than “Trouble in Mudbug” (which had a lot of profanity). Luckily the language was better in this one & it was pretty entertaining.

Loved, loved this book. Easy to read, laughed all the way through the book. The characters in this book were definitely characters.
Was a great read 🙂 Didn’t hurt that we were vacationing in Louisiana at the time.
If you like Stephanie Plum, you will LOVE the Miss Fortune mysteries. A good mystery,a quirky heroine, a delightful cast of sidekicks and laugh out loud funny sections. A good book to curl up with after a tough day. You’ll forget all your troubles as you immerse yourself in the bayou.
With a price on her head and a leak in the department, CIA operative, “Fortune” Redding is sent to the small berg of Sinful, Louisiana until the CIA can find the leak and eliminate the danger to Fortune. Acting as the niece who inherited the home of a recently deceased lady, Fortune is told to “blend in” in the small town. From the moment she …
I cant say enough about Jana DeLeon and the Miss Fortune Series. I’ve recommended the series to everyone looking for something new to read. Yiu have mysteries, laughter, love stories, small town living and did I say Laughter?, all wrapped up in each book and they all tie together in one beautifully written series by a wonderfully, well versed …
First off, I’ve read this one two or three times. That’s how much I love it. It’s a fast-paced hilarious ride! Seriously, not a ton of romance in this first book in the series, but there is some simmering potential. I’m hoping it has a chance to blossom in the next books.
Sometimes I need a light-hearted read full of suspense and the utterly …
This is a fun fast read. The characters are interesting and keep you guessing.
It was funny, the first I had read by this author. It was a fast read!
