It was a hell of a long shot…. CIA assassin Fortune Redding is about to undertake her most difficult mission ever—in Sinful, Louisiana. With a leak at the CIA and a price placed on her head by one of the world’s largest arms dealers, Fortune has to go off-grid, but she never expected to be this far out of her element. Posing as a former beauty queen turned librarian in a small bayou town seems … town seems worse than death to Fortune, but she’s determined to fly below the radar until her boss finds the leak and puts the arms dealer out of play. Unfortunately, she hasn’t even unpacked a suitcase before her newly inherited dog digs up a human bone in her backyard.
Thrust into the middle of a bayou murder mystery, Fortune teams up with a couple of seemingly sweet old ladies whose looks completely belie their hold on the little town. To top things off, the handsome local deputy is asking her too many questions. If she’s not careful, this investigation might blow her cover and get her killed. Armed with her considerable skills and a group of elderly ladies the locals dub The Geritol Mafia, Fortune has no choice but to solve the murder before it’s too late.

The main character is hilarious with her funny deliveries, it was such a fun read! The southern life depicted was right on. I’ve not had neighbors like the ones she depicted, but I would welcome them if there were real! All in all, this was a very funny book and love the author! This is southern living at it’s best, the race from Sunday church …
Always fun to see what a Yankee deals with the South.
This is one book that I said to myself, “Gee! I didn’t see that coming!” I read it on my original old Kindle paper white, which is a most comfortable device for a comfortable, cozy night-time read. It was one of those I hated to finish.
This was one of the funniest murder mysteries I have read in a long time. When Fortune needed to quickly get out of sight, her boss sent her to a small town in Louisiana where she pretended to be his niece who was a librarian and ex-beauty queen. This “mission” was not going to be easy for trained assassin, Fortune Redding.
Fortune thought the …
Enjoyable I laughed thru whole book
This series will keep you laughing , wonderful characters , could hardly wait for the next book .
Great to see a book about people over 65 and still active.
A fun book with adventure and mystery combined with humorous characters.
A fun beginning to a great series!
Truly enjoyed this mystery highjinxs. The characters are something else and you are never too old to be good at what you do already ordered the next 2 in the series.
Funniest book I have read in a long time. Kept me guessing until the end.
I enjoyed this book. What I liked the most was that it started right off into the story line. No blah, blah, blah pages of endless, non-essential writing. It was amusing, and the characters were likeable. As they say short-and-sweet. I would definitely read other books by this author.
I LOVE AND ADORE THIS SERIES. FORTUNE, GERTIE AND IDABELLE ARE A HOOT! I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF THESE GIRLS.
Over-the-top and laugh-out-loud, Louisiana Longshot kept me entertained with its quirky but lovable cast of characters. The mystery wasn’t too bad either…
Looking forward to reading more. Great fun.
A great read! Ready to read the rest of the series! Too funny!!
A great combination of humor and intrique!
Didn’t like it.
Great Book! I Love it!
The twist at the end was unexpected. I didn’t expect it and I usually can tell what is going to happen at the end in this genre.
