Louisiana Lies (A Roxy Reinhardt Cozy Mystery Book 3) by Alison Golden, Honey Broussard is such an awesome story to read. This is book number three in this awesome series and I can not wait to see what comes next from this author. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about cozy mysteries.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This is a fun murder mystery that keeps you guessing right up till the end. A medium gets murdered at a seance in a back room in New Orleans. Who dun it? Wonderful characters, great dialogue, and an intriguing plot!
Much as i generally enjoy Ms. Golden’s mysteries… i HATED the ending of this book. It did not even make sense, was not believable, and made me swear off the Roxy series for good (having not particularly enjoyed book 2).
Ms. Golden – you can do better than this!
Louisiana Lies – a review by Rosemary Kenny
Louisiana Lies – a review by Rosemary Kenny
Roxy Reinhardt’s role as owner/manager of The Funky Cat boutique hotel, is never restricted to just the daily grind of dealing with clients’ foibles and fancies and in Louisiana Lies, Alison Golden and Honey Broussard’s latest Roxy Reinhardt Mystery series’#3, our heroine is once more drawn into the ‘dark side’, when a famous psychic Meredith Romanoff’s seance at a local botanical garden, is rudely interrupted by a literal shot in the dark, that moves her swiftly to the hereafter.
Roxy was at said event at the medium’s request, so she’s automatically questioned by the police, before getting hired by the host, Dr Jack, who’s been jailed as the prime suspect, to sniff out the truth.
How will Roxy manage to run the hotel and act as an amateur sleuth too?
Who helps Roxy?
Why do the police think Dr Jack’s guilty?

When a famous medium booked out her hotel for herself, her husband and her assistant, Roxy thought that it would be nice quiet time. How wrong she was. Before they could even check in properly, the medium was murdered in a closed private seance at which Roxy was present – at the medium’s insistence. As a friend of hers was accused of the crime, Roxy decides to investigate. It is quite a twisted tale and one well worth reading. It keeps the reader engrossed right to the end, before revealing the murderer.
Roxy is brilliant, strong, and compassionate in this caper. i continued to be uncertain of the culprit right up to the big unveiling. Well done.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
With this third entry in the Roxy Reinhardt series, we find Roxy becoming more sure of herself in her new management role with the Funky Cat Inn, as well as in her developing friendships with staff and neighbors. New Orleans and its unique culture are especially highlighted in this story, starting with a seance conducted by the renowned Meredith Romanoff that ends in tragedy. This tragedy finds Roxy once again drawn into investigating the mysterious death, especially since the prime suspect is her friend, Dr. Jack. I enjoy watching as the main characters grow and develop lives of their own, as well as learning about the new visiting characters and figuring out their motives and back stories. This is a fun series, and I love the extra tidbits about New Orleans history and celebrations. I am looking forwarding to the next story in this series. Disclosure: I am voluntarily reviewing this book and all opinions are strictly my own.
With a famous psychic in town, Roxy finds herself pulled into another mystery. Psychic Meredith Romanoff is holding a seance at Dr. Jack’s. Roxy is invited to attend. Just as the Meredith begins the lights go out and what happens next no one predicted not even Meredith. A gun is fired and when the lights come on Meredith is dead. Dr. Jack is arrested and asked Roxy to help clear his name.
The stories are getting better with each new book. This is a fun fast-paced cozy with several twists and turns. The characters are quirky and entertaining. The chemistry between the group of friends is great. As we get to know the characters better their personalities become more complex. I look forward to the next book in the series.
I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced by anyone.
A fun mystery!
I got an ARC of the book and bought a copy because I enjoyed it and want to support the author and have it available in my library.
The story begins with a seance and murder. Roxy has been brought into the seance at the insistence of the medium and is then dragged into solving the case. The story unfolds with great characters, plots, settings, and a fun twist that should make readers happy. I think most readers will enjoy the story.

Okay, you own an inn in New Orleans and want to work on getting it established. Your guest demands that you attend her séance – says the spirits are requiring it. You do but someone ends up dead and your friend gets arrested for it. What do you do? Read the book!!!
Roxy has made some serious life changes and only been there for several months. She has definitely grown since coming to New Orleans, and made wonderful friends. Definitely finding out who she is and what she is capable of compare to first book.
Laughing as I write this review. I tried several times in other reviews for other books to put Roxy in them. The comment about how much she has grown, lol.
Can be read as a standalone, but go back and see how far she has come at some time. Fast fun read but eat before reading because all the food will make you hungry.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
I must say I love how Alison Golden writes. I have read all her books and enjoyed them all. Every series has been different but oh so good. This is her newest series and this is book 3. I have read books 1 and 2 but I was a little worried if I would like the series. Given how much I like Alison’s writing I thought I would give it a try. Well, I have to say I like this series too. Roxy and her friends are well written and the story is entertaining. I love how Alison continues to develop the individual characters and develop the relationships between them all. I can’t wait for another book.
Another wonderful visit with Roxy and the crew. This time Roxy is invited to a seance with a well-known psychic who is staying at the Funky Cat Inn. When the psychic is killed before she can even get to the inn Roxy is on the case. The characters are quite unique, as you would expect in NO, and the mystery is very good. There’s also some romance with several different couples. Quite a read!
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Louisiana Lies is the 3rd book in the ‘A Roxy Reinhardt Cozy Mystery Series’ by Alison Golden. I loved the previous 2 books and this 3rd one was just as good. Louisiana Lies is a fun read with eccentric characters, psychics, bumbling deceives all set in New Orleans where the weird is the norm and the excitement never ends.
Ms. Golden has woven all of this into this series. She is a very skilled writer that continues to build upon her characters within their worlds with each new book in her series. I truly enjoy reading her books. You have to grab a copy and catch up with books 1&2.
Roxy is back! This time she is hosting a Meredith, a famous psychic, her husband, and her assistant. Roxy is asked to join them in a séance but before it really gets started Meredith is killed. Roxy’s friend Dr. Jack is the chief suspect so Roxy begins her investigation.
I enjoy this newer series. New Orleans is always fun. I would love to visit the Funky Cat Inn!
A famous medium is staying at Roxy’s rooming house with her husband and assistant. She gets Roxy to attend a seance and in the dark, quiet room a shot goes off. Roxy and her group of friends are off on the hunt to prove their friend is not the killer. We are all different sides of New Orleans, which is interesting. We also Nat’s softer side and Roxy’s stronger one. Some relationships change a little and all in all it is one fun ride. I was sad when it ended and can’t wait for the next one
Meredith Romanoff has made reservations to stay at the Funky Cat Inn. Their plans are running a little late, due to traffic and Meredith requests Roxy to pick up her luggage at Dr. Jack’s Botanica. Meredith will be conducting a private seance for a special client, Royston Lamontagne. When Roxy and Sam arrive to pick up the luggage, Dr. Jack and Meredith are having a slightly heated discussion.
The other participants in the seance include Meredith’s husband, Charles, her assistant, George, an old school friend, Terah Jones, and Dr. Jack, owner of the botanica. At the last minute, Meredith also requests that Roxy attend the seance. As the participants gather around the table in a small room, Meredith asks George to extinguish the lights. George blows out the candle and after a curtain is pulled over the door, the entire room is plunged into darkness. Meredith starts the seance by asking Royston for the question he is seeking help with. Following Royston’s question, there is a short period of silence, before Meredith starts humming and chanting. Suddenly, there is a loud noise in the room, followed by silence.
When the lights came back on, Meredith was dead. She had been murdered and one of the seance participants was the killer. When Detective Johnson learns of the argument between Meredith and Dr. Jack, he is convinced that Jack is guilty and refuses to look any further.
Who killed Meredith? Why was she killed? Although there are a limited number of suspects, almost everybody had a reason to want Meredith dead. Can Roxy figure out what really happened and can she prove it?
Alison Golden has another wonderful story with great characters and plenty of intrigue. The story is sure to keep you guessing clear to the end.
A famous psychic is murdered as she’s performing a seance. Roxy was there when this happened. Now she’s in the middle of the murder investigation when Dr Jack, her friend, becomes the prime suspect. I like how Roxy has grown and become a strong, confident woman. Her friends are an excellent support system. They are there for her and Nefertiti, her cat, is always available for her to cuddle. As Roxy questions the suspects, she finds they all have a reason to kill the victim. Unfortunately the Police aren’t happy that she’s involved. I hated to see her in trouble with the authorities. I was happy to see her romance develop with Sam. He’s sweet and thoughtful as well as mysterious. Alison Golden and Honey Broussard have written a suspenseful mystery filled with quirky characters. New Orleans is the perfect setting. I love the history and the atmosphere. The ending was surprising. I enjoyed this fast paced and interesting cozy. I always love coming to the Funky Cat Inn. I’m looking forward to Roxy’s next adventure.
This is the 3rd Roxy Reinhardt mystery with many twists and turns to keep you wondering who done it! Roxy and her story is growing and going in a good direction. She’s getting closer to her friends too who are an integral part of her investigations. I really enjoy these stories and highly recommend this next addition to a fun, fun series.
I am loving this series. What a great group of characters. I love their interactions with each other. I’ve have visited New Orleans and enjoy reading stories in this setting. Have you ever participated in a séance? That could be interesting and fun. There were some interesting personalities attending this one. It’s fun going with Roxy as she tries to figure out the all-important answer in this story. Just how much trouble will Roxy and her friends get into trying to find this answer? I hope you enjoy finding out. I received an ARC of this book, but my opinion is my own.
