I never meant to say a word, not one single word. But I did. Now because of something I leaked–without even realizing it–I’ve inadvertently broken up one of the Ice Knights’ most legendary bromances. And worse–I’ve kicked hockey star Ian Petrov’s grumpy level to insane levels of grump. And what could make it worse? How about the two of us being trapped together in a remote cabin after a … a remote cabin after a massive blizzard. Neither of us can leave. Just us, the snow, his resentment, and OMG sexual tension so thick it would take a snowplow to break through it.
I’ve got to get out of here before I do something even dumber than I’ve already done and kiss the sexy grouch with his misplaced anger and perfect pecs. That would be the worst, the absolute worst. But… would it be terrible if we gave in? Just a little? It’s not like we’re ever going to have to spend time together again.
Until the next morning when we’re told we have to play chummy for the press until this news cycle blows over. F.M.L.

You can’t go wrong with a book by Avery Flynn. I love her hockey romances and I couldn’t wait to dive into this one. I really liked Shelby. Man, can you say bad luck. I felt for Ian because his life has just turned upside down. He definitely struggles through in this book. If he can’t find he was through it he may just may let the best thing slip through his fingers. You can feel the sexual tension between Shelby and Ian. Being stuck in a blizzard together in a small cabin leads to many sparks. This book gave me the humor and heart I expect in a rom com by Avery Flynn. This is a book that will get you out of a reading funk. You’ll have a hard time putting this one down.
I have really been enjoying this series by Avery Flynn and couldn’t wait to get into Loud Mouth. I liked that we get a little bit of enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity, snowed in at a cabin, yes please. However, I wish they were there a little bit longer, but they’re still forced to be around together constantly.
Overall, I did enjoy reading about Shelby and Ian, but there were little things here and there that we had more of. I was hoping the enemies-to-lovers played out a little bit longer, their attraction for one another took over quickly. Not that I was complaining too much because these two had a whole lot of chemistry. But I was wanting a bit more anticipation.
I loved the little bromance between Ian and Alex despite their issues that they have to work through, but these two are definitely a solid team.
I wish we had more depth with the main characters and got more on the emotional side of things. However, still enjoyed this one and can’t wait for the next one in the series.
**AN ARC WAS PROVIDED BY THE PUBLISHER IN EXCHANGE FOR A REVIEW**
Avery Flynn hits it in the net with LOUD MOUTH (Ice Knights #3). Ice Knights hockey star Ian Petrov discovers that his hockey Hall of Fame father cheated on his mother and had a son: his best friend and teammate Alex Christensen. He heads to the mountains to get away from the press. Things get worse when he is trapped with the person that leaked his story, Shelby Blanton. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers.
Avery Flynn does a fantastic job with this story. It is skillfully written and has interesting twists. I like her use of timeline in the novel. Shelby is an admiral heroine. She is six years sober. This is the first sports romance that I have read that a female main character is a recovering alcoholic. It always seems to be the male athlete. I appreciated the different point of view. I also liked that Ian never held that against her. Ian is a good guy. He feels like he has always lived in his father’s shadow. It did not help that his dad was a jerk. I like how the characters developed in the story. They are both genuine and likable people.
LOUD MOUTH was entertaining and hard to put down. It was heartwarming and humorous. It is a wonderful addition to the Ice Knight series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This was the story I had been waiting for in this series!
This is the story of Ian and Shelby.
Take a cabin, a whole mess of chemistry and two beautifully quirky characters, and watch the pages melt with humor, heat, and heart.
Shelby is such a complicated and enduring character! The struggles and triumphs she goes through are so commendable! It made me in awe of her, she was a complicated puzzle that Ian could only figure out.
Ian, whew, this fella is also complicated. To the surprises about his family and living in the shadow of his father, his whole life has truly molded him into the man he is. He is the epitome of “silent waters run deep”. There is so much more to him than what he reveals to the world. And Shelby is the lucky soul that gets to have him!
I have so much love for this series! Each book can be read as a standalone, but do yourself a favor and read them all!!
Okay, I have to tell you guys something but don’t tell anyone, k …. Not only do I love this series, but I might love the covers and by might I mean yes, yes I do! Obvs, I’m not the cartoon cover girl, so keep my secret,k 🙂
This story was hilarious! Avery Flynn knows how to deliver a romantic comedy that isn’t silly but instead is one giant heartfelt humorous step after another. It the stops. The laughter never stops. Not with this story at least. I mean the grumpy guy with the sassy chic … it was hilarious before it even began!
One of the best parts of Avery Flynn’s writing is her unique humor that shines through and boy does Loud Mouth have that in spades! When I wasn’t busy laughing like a mad woman I was falling completely in love with Shelby and Ian. These two brought a whole new meaning to being enemies to lovers. As much as they want to not like each other what exists between them is too darn magnetic to ignore. And we all know what that means, SPARKS GALORE!
Those sparks were flying like Avery Flynn was trying to recreate that Oprah meme. “You get sparks! And you get sparks! And you get sparks! YOU ALL GET SPARKS!” They were an explosion just waiting to happen and when it did happen…hoomahgawd! Per.fec.tion.
OMGosh! Ms. Flynn is a newer author for me and I already love her style of writing after only reading a couple of her books! Ian and Shelby are just so good together, yet neither of them thinks the other is feeling the same way! As these two work things out and finally realize they love the other one, you won’t be able to turn pages fast enough. Add in characters you can’t help but like and others you will down right dislike and you have a great book to escape into! The laugh out loud moments are just an additional bonus! Read this book, you won’t be sorry! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Really enjoyed this story! It was funny, sexy and a little bit angsty.
“Her hands still in his, he glanced up at her, his eyes dark with a possessive lust that made her core clench.”
Ian Petrov’s world has pretty much fallen apart following stunning revelations about his family. Feeling bitter and sorry for himself, he plans to hide away in a cabin and get drunk on scotch. However, he doesn’t count on the reason for his life imploding to be sharing the cabin with him. And when they get snowed in, there’s no denying the attraction between them.
“When it came to Ian Petrov, she didn’t want now – she wanted forever.”
Shelby Blanton feels terrible. She runs off to a remote cabin to lick her wounds but her worst nightmare is upon her when she ends up trapped with the one guy in the world that hates her. However, when things start to change between them, will it be a case of what happens in the cabin stays in the cabin, or do they have a chance for something more?
“He couldn’t explain it. He didn’t understand it. He just needed her. Period.”
This was such a fab story. It was humorous, really sexy and filled with a certain amount of angst, as both Ian and Shelby battle with their own personal demons. I loved the connection between them and their chemistry was sizzling and compelling. Ian was his own man with a clear idea of his path but he also needed to change how he perceived himself. Shelby was a strong, independent heroine. I admired her intellect and her feistiness. A thrilling and heartwarming read!
I have loved this series and this book just made it so much better. I loved the characters Shelby and Ian are perfect for each other if they can stop fighting long enough to figure it all out. This story had me laughing out loud so many times. I love a good romantic comedy with sports romance mixed together. Avery Flynn has another hit on her hands with this book. Great Story, Amazing Characters and a kick butt Author!!!
REVIEW: THIS SERIES! Seriously, the first book, Parental Guidance, just blew my mind and made me laugh until I cried. It was one of my favorite books of 2019. Then came Awk-Weird and I knew this series was going to be one of my favorites. I was completely right.
Avery Flynn has done it again with Loud Mouth. The banter and humor of her writing are absolutely the best. She takes serious life events, then adds humor and emotion in a way that sucks me right in. I loved the broody, moody Ian with all his faults. I loved Shelby’s mix of strength and vulnerability. I loved the forced proximity of a cabin and fixing Ian’s imagine with his half-brother. There were multiple misunderstandings that hurt my heart, made me laugh, and just gave the story depth! The best part is I didn’t see it coming when the cabin time came to an end. Seriously, Avery Flynn manages to surprise me, break my heart, make me laugh, and then patch my heart back to new with a HEA. I loved this book and I hope you do too!
Another fun romantic comedy from Avery Flynn! This enemies-to-lovers story has humor, heart, and heat, all layered with Avery Flynn’s trademark snark and sass that I have come to love.
I just loved the set-up of this book – forced proximity is so much fun, and knowing that Ian blames Shelby for his current situation the tension between these two, as well as the attraction, just makes for some fun dialogue and steamy times. There was no lack of spark and heat between these two, but between the fraternizing policy that is a convenient excuse for Shelby to shield her heart, and Ian’s inability to see past his father’s shadow, these two just can’t seem to get out of their own way and listen to their hearts. I’m not a huge fan of too much angst, so it did get a bit frustrating watching these two deny what they wanted (each other), but with how things turned out I think it worked for me to make the resolution a bit sweeter.
This is the third book in this series but can easily be read as a stand-alone – but beware, you will probably end up wanting to read all of the books! One of my favorite parts of reading a series (including cross-over series) is that you get to revisit with old characters and learn more about those who will most likely be featured in upcoming stories. I loved seeing Lucy with her baby and the few glimpses of some of the other characters, and I really loved finding out more about Alex, who I hope is who the next book is about!
I am a huge fan of Avery Flynn’s writing style – her dialogue and prose just flow on the pages and make her books an easy read. I love her sense of humor and her ability to create strong characters, and I love that her heroines can all stand on their own, despite their own perceived flaws and weaknesses.
I would definitely recommend adding this one to your TBR!
Holy hotness this is hockey RomCom at its finest. Going in I wasn’t sure because in the beginning I am so sad for Ian. He has some messy family dynamics going on and strong feelings of betrayal. Our heroine, Shelby has some major guilt going on because she inadvertently let the cat out of the bag. Yikes. Don’t worry you will fall in love with her. She is beautifully flawed in all the right ways with her heart always shining through.
This is about a crazy, zany journey of finding your true family and forgiving others missteps that has wounded you. I love the realness and spiciness of this read. In RomCom fashion it offers several laugh out loud moments and some cover your eyes in embarrassment scenes.
It is surprising actually how many emotional topics are explored in this funny book. I loved ever second of it. Probably my one critique of this story, I questioned that the big secret wouldn’t have been revealed sooner. How could that have not been found out. I would love to know what others think. Hee hee. It only gave me pause but definitely didn’t ruin the rest of the story or how much I liked it.
Teaser: As much I love Ian’s brother, I HATE his dad. Feeling a bit bipolar as I shift from warm fuzzy to my blood pressure is rising. Eek. Ok not saying anymore cause you need to read the book to understand. Wink.
Hope you enjoy this funny, touching 4 star book. Happy Reading Everyone!
When Shelby accidentally allows a newspaper reporter to overhear a big secret involving two players on the Ice Knights team, the most significant result is that the two players’ longtime friendship comes to an end. Shelby feels horrible, so finding out she has to share her rental cabin with one of the two men, Ian Petrov, until the snow melts, is not exactly the getaway and escape she had been hoping for. Or perhaps it could be exactly what she needs when the attraction between the two of them is off the charts hot and begging to be consummated.
But the last thing Shelby wants is to be like her mom when it comes to love and relationships, so she has to guard her heart against feelings, against “Mr. Sexy Grunts” grumpster himself, lest she get hurt. But in doing so, may keep her from the happiness she and Ian deserve. Or it could be that Ian’s ever present intense dislike of being compared to his ice legend father, and constantly coming up lacking, will be the thing that drives the wedge between this pair of opposites. Either way, the two will need to let go of their baggage if they want the happiness they’re hoping for somewhere deep inside them.
I’ve loved the Ice Knights series so far, and Loud Mouth just makes me love this group of hockey players all the more. It’s lighthearted, fun, and sexy – perfect and just what I needed today.
Always fun to read Avery Flynn does it again. This time with an opposites attract, enemies to lovers fun entertaining read. Bonus it’s Hockey based!
This is 100% my favorite series by Avery Flynn!! Each book has me falling in love with each team member more than the last. Ian just made me love him. He has so much anger over the secrets that were kept from him, and he just wants to be appreciated for his own talents and not compared to his father or brother. Enter Shelby. She has to be one of my favorite heroines. I loved that we learn about her history with alcoholism. It’s wonderful to see how hard she fought to overcome her demons. I loved these two together. Their chemistry was explosive and I loved how they were there for each other.
This whole book was amazing & I can’t wait for more! I hope Alex gets his book soooooon!
I sooo enjoyed this book! I found myself smiling and laughing throughout. It gave me ALL. THE. FEELS. and I didn’t want to put it down. Ian and Shelby weren’t on good terms. They found themselves thrown together without a way out and had to make the best of things. And some things were revealed. One thing they weren’t expecting was the chemistry between them. While life wasn’t going in the direction they thought, they made the most of things. Shelby just wanted to do her job and do it well. Ian was in a strange place in his life and he was trying to find his footing. But Shelby and Ian were drawn to each other and they leaned on each other. This book was so sweet, fun and I can’t recommend it enough!
Long story short, sweet and hot, light to read, love the main characters and their chemistry, literally I read it in a couple of hours the author knew how to keep my attention, i really recommend this one.
I loved this because it was easy, not too long, and has the right amount of humor and sexiness that I couldn’t put it down. The tension and banter between them was hilarious and it didn’t hurt that their chemistry was downright explosive.
4 1/2 STARS!
Utterly delightful! With the third book in her always entertaining Ice Knights series Avery Flynn delights us all with Ian Petrov’s story. This grumpy hockey player is yummylicious and growls in all the right places, but he might have just met his match in tough girl Shelby Blanton!
Ian is a lot of fun to read. He is mad at the world when a major secret is uncovered that tears apart the best part of his days in hockey. He’s mad at the world and he’s especially mad at his jerk of a father, bonehead of a former best friend and the chatty cathy who told the world things he didn’t even know about his life!
Shelby is tough girl gold! She is at a good place in her life for a change and just wants this new job with the Ice Knights to go her way when it all starts to unravel in the blink of an eye … simply by accident! She’s got to find a way to make this right … before she starts falling for this grumpy gus of a hockey stud!
I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who likes a whole lot of snarky sass to make you laugh out loud on a regular basis with your hockey romance. The characters are loads of fun and the story line always fast paced and interesting. I’m really enjoying this team!
Loud Mouth was the perfect fit into the chaos of Harbor City. Two Hockey Players, brothers with out one of them knowing it, leaked by the most love/hated hockey blogger in Harbor City. Shelby has been using the Hockey Blog, The Biscuit as part of her recovery of being an alcoholic. It has given her something to focus on outside of drinking. And finally, the Biscuit has entered a partnership with the Harbor City Hockey team, the Ice Knights. Shelby new job as part of the PR team for the Ice Knights will be to provide social media content for the team and its players. Just as this amazing opportunity is starting for her, her mother shares some earth-shattering gossip which is overheard by another reporter. The Gossip outs Alex Christiansen and Ian Petrov as brothers. One knew they were, there other was clueless. The start of the story starts off with a blizzard and Ian and Shelby stuck together in the mountains. Could things get worse for them?
The chemistry between Ian and Shelby is almost tangible off the pages. You can feel the electricity (and not from the taser) as you read of them dancing around each other. One of the things I love about Avery Flynn’s writing is the uniqueness of her characters. She embraces all kind of beauty and body types in her characters. She has a magical way of making the unconventional beautiful. Shelby has her hard edges, but she uses it as shield to protect her heart. He life has not been easy, and she craves nothing more than just calm and normalcy.
Ian is complex and so much to take out of his character. He claims to not be trying to live up to his father’s legacy, but it weighs heavy on all his actions. I think part of his quick to react is because he wants to strike before he gets hurt. You can see his evolution as he slow accepts that Shelby was never out to hurt him. But he is very quick to put up walls when he feels taken advantage off.
Loud Mouth was fantastic! Loud Mouth was the perfect follow up to the funny quirkiness to Awk-weird. I love the world of Harbor City and I am all in! From the Hartigans to the Carlyle to the craziness that is the Ice Knights I am always so happy with the chaos of Harbor City. The moments of laughter paired with the complexity of the characters made this a phenomenal read for me. This is the magic I have come to expect from Avery Flynn. This was a 5/5 read for me. I am all in what ever Ms. Flynn writes next!
