Trisha Wolfe is my go to author when I want a psychological thrilling romance full of intrigue and suspense. This author is such a genius when it cones to these kind of books. I loved Lotus Effect!!!
Lakin and Rhys have such an interesting dynamic. I ADORED these two, and I’m in awe of the mystery Mrs Wolfe constructed surrounding Lakin and her past. This book is quite the emotional rollercoaster that will leave you breathless. From start to finish Lotus Effect is so unique, and captivating, and absolutely PERFECT!!
One of my favorite reads this year!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

I don’t think I have every read anyone writes the way that Trisha Wolfe does. Every book that I have read she has written have sucked me in and not let me go till the very end. Her words are like magic for the soul. Lotus Effect is nothing short of amazing. I devoured in one sitting. I could not nor would I put it down. This is a story filled with so many twists and turns and things you won’t see coming. It will have you on the edge of your seat with your mind blown. I love when a book keeps me so engrossed that nothing else matters. You do not want to miss this book. I can not wait to see what Trisha Wolfe has in store for us next!!!
I had a list of suspects for this one but two always stuck out. I knew who it was. I was a bit surprised by the little twist thrown in but I knew.
I must say everyone was a suspect with the way Lakin couldn’t remember and how she discovered things. Heck at some point I even suspected her.
Trisha Wolfe knows how to weave a story that will capture you and will never bore you. She keeps you guessing till the very end. So many people keeping some sort of secret and not being honest, I kept waiting to see what would come out next.
I loved this book. I highly recommend it.
5 PHENOMENAL STARS!! This story is phenomenal…..I was hypnotized from the first page and on the edge of my seat all the way through. I felt like I was right there with Lakin, experiencing every emotion she was feeling. Rhys is the perfect medicine for Lakin….I absolutely loved Rhys he is PERFECTION. This author is phenomenal with her storytelling, her words will suck you in the story land. This is one book that definitely needs to be 1-Clicked.
Dark and mysterious as the muddy waters the lotus flower is rooted in but also blooms with a remarkable story and twisted ending.
Lotus Effect takes us deep into the mind of a victim who technically died from her attack and years later is still emotionally held underwater by the stalks of the Lotus flower as her unconscious refuses to allow her to remember what transpired that night. Now a true crime writer who has partnered with a FBI cold case agent named Rhys Nolan she tries to do for others what she is unable to do for herself.
How the author chose to write this was so haunting – like being on the fringes of madness. Blending the past and present together for a aberrant conclusion. I like dark and twisted suspense and this satisfied all my cravings. I would love to have future stories with Rhys and Lakin solving more cold cases.
So, this is my first book by Trisha Wolfe and lord did it have me drawn in so deep and strongly that I just couldn’t put it down. I was so intrigued by the whole storyline. It was twisting and turning throughout the story. It had the drama, suspense, mystery and some romance throughout it. It is extremely well written and the characters are beautifully developed. The hero’s are amazing and intelligent with a strong drive. Our evil one or ones just add that element to it that just gives it that oomph that makes it so good. It is a story that makes you say why have I never read any of Trisha Wolfe’s books before. It is most definitely worth reading and doesn’t disappoint.
It is with an emotionally invested heart and a blown mind that I recommend this book! My God, author Trisha Wolfe has handed in one hell of a captivating read. Her writing style, storytelling, and character perspective are so engrossingly astounding. Why Wolfe isn’t on the New York Times bestseller list or any other for that matter is beyond me.
Crime writer, Laken Hale and Special Agent Rhys Nolan work together to solve cold cases. This duo is a crime drama readers dream. Smart, realistic and absolutely engrossing is their chemistry and flow.
Lotus Effect is told in the past and present with so many abrupt twists and turns I was glued from start to finish. Truly
One of my top reads of 2019.
What a thrilling and heart pounding book!! So many twists and turns! Had me guessing at every turn! Captivating and exciting!! Fantastic Read!!!
Lotus Effect once again demonstrates the incredible imagination that only Trisha Wolfe can deliver. She takes us on a journey that not only uncovers the mystery surrounding the deaths of young women in their native Florida, but it also brings some semblance of peace to the woman who is doing the investigating. Lakin Hale, previously known as Cynthia Marks, is a crime writer. She uses her ‘other job’ as FBI investigator to not only provide fodder for her novels but offer her a chance to ‘fight back’ and solve cold case crimes with the kind of perspective only she can give. Therefore, what is wildly enticing about this book is that the Author masterfully combines Lakin’s own unsolved mystery of what happened to her 4 years prior with current crimes against women which may or not be connected with her own.
Yes it’s another roller-coaster of emotions but I would expect no less from Wolfe. As usual, there are a TON of details that must be savored. There is no room to skip or skim anything! You have to be completely engrossed in the words, like I was, to fully grasp the nature of this story. And what a story it is!
With the strong, silent Agent Rhys Nolan by her side, Lakin starts to unravel the case at the forefront of their trip to Florida. But what is most unexpected is the link to her own horrible attack and the memories it forces to the surface. There is this subtle kind of tension right from the start, almost an inch begging to be scratched as Lakin gets close to the truth but then is thwarted over and over again. I guess it’s both her stoic nature and Rhys’s training that keep the feelings each are experiencing a bit bottled up as they work together to solve the case. It felt like an impending explosion that would rattle both their worlds could happen at any moment and that’s what always keeps me glued to one of Wolfe’s books. It’s that uneasy feeling of not ever knowing what could happen next that keeps me coming back for more of her psychological thrillers.
In addition, we get the workings of the mind through lessons Lakin learned at the ‘knee’ of her lover, her former psych professor, Drew. Wolfe pieces together Lakin’s lapsed memories, dreams that felt like premonitions and the horrific truth brilliantly. Lakin’s knowledge of the mind is beyond helpful as she uncovers the reasons for particular characters’s acts and how it ultimately will affect her in the end. She also has the capability to understand what happens to these victims and not only does that help with investigations but it gives her own writing the credibility it needs.
I loved Rhys and the way he always put Lakin first and how he never forgot her own cold case even as they work other ones together. There is a sexual tension that is apparent throughout this story and I was glad they both finally saw it too. They truly make quite the team and it was sweet seeing how they leaned on the other and how that brief touch of a shoulder or kiss on a forehead could soothe most fears.
The ending, not completely a surprise for me, was still riveting, action-packed and was fraught with fierce fervor. The use of the lotus throughout this book really did make sense at the end and I loved that this delicate, yet resilient flower was everything Lakin was truly about. It became her worst nightmare and savior all at once.
Lotus Effect is extremely well-written and completely captivating. I couldn’t put it down and had that persistent unease in my stomach that I knew would be present as I took on yet another Wolfe book. And I wouldn’t trade that feeling for anything in the world. I can’t get enough of her work and look forward to what will come next from her.
5 huge stars!
WOW what a masterpiece Lakens story is from the first page right to the end, it is perfectly paced and very descriptive full of suspense, deceit and mindblowing all at the same time with so many twists and turns you cant even imagine what is coming next, I could not put this down.
The characters and research is fantastic, the past and present information I loved. Laken is such a strong character and her work is kinda scary but she is so strong willed and determined. I highly recommend this it is perfection at its finest.
There is so much that needs to be said… Lotus Effect was mind bending. It made you question everything and every damn body. There were so many parts to the story, which I loved. For one, the psychology and the criminal profiling was on point. I felt like I was running through the clues along with the main characters, Rhys and Lakin. I also loved the environment, which the characters are placed. Florida is supposed to be all sunny and nice but there is terrible things lurking in the background. The lake… The people themselves… Oh and I can’t forget about this. I really loved the quotes. The author was able to express the importance of a character, the situation that character was placed in, or even the mind of a character through a properly placed quote.
Here are few:
“Secrets are only able to haunt when they stay buried. Like a ghost crossing over into the light, once they’re exposed, all that left is peace.” What needs to be exposed? What truth needs to come to light? I was asking myself these questions when it came to this quote.
“Victims do not have to suffer alone. Victims do not have to be victims. I am a survivor.” Nothing needs to be said concerning this quote. I believe it is self explanatory.
“I am not like the leaves of the lotus; I am its petals. Soft and pliable, but also sharp and deadly, like the blade that carved my body.” When I read this, I shook my head and smiled. Petals… the character was showing her strength.
This is a standalone. If you haven’t read this author before, start with this. This story isn’t about romance. It is about diving in, asking those hard questions, and facing your fears. It is also about that so called lotus effect.
This book was so good. I’ve read true crime novels before and this book brought back memories of those. I know it’s fiction but I couldn’t help but feel there was some fact instilled in this. You’re an evil genius Trisha!
Lotus Effect is a book about Lakin’s death. About what’s real and what a mind can fabricate as the truth. About redemption and salvation. It’s about Lakin’s truth.
I love psychological thrillers. I can’t begin to count how many I’ve read and reviewed. They are one of my favorite genres. I’ve been eyeing this book since last year when I read the first teasers. I knew I would love it and I was not wrong.
Like I said above, I’ve read True Crime books. I still do. There’s something fascinating about the mind of a serial killer and their victims. I know this book was from Lakin’s perspective as the victim. It was still as fascinating. I also know this book is a work of fiction but it also closely resembles the work of fact.
I love how ones brain shuts down to protect us. How we hide the really bad things that happen to us and create a new memory that’s easier to handle. I don’t think we subconsciously do that but our mind does for us. For the truth is much far worse than we could handle.
Lakin is someone that is easily relatable even if her character felt distant at times. I felt for her and my heart broke for her more than once. Anyone could be her. How close any of us could be close to death but something or someone intervenes to change our destiny.
Trisha Wolfe is an evil genius. Lotus Effect will affect you. It will consume you in more ways than one. All I could and can think about is this book. The what if’s. It has taken over my mind.
It’s been a long long while since I read a Trisha Wolfe book and I’m glad I was able to receive this early copy.
I Give this Book 3.5 but listing as 4 Stars
This book has been haunting me the moment I first heard about it and can I just say this book was Great!
I love the in-depth details from start to finish, in the beginning you are immediately transported to what Lakin is visioning to the hunt for the person who has haunted her, and at the end you are left just amazed at Her Strength and seeking her finally letting go of the Past.
I will not give spoilers, but I kinda saw what was going to happen from the beginning and boy did I call it.
This was a wonderful read and hopefully you will think so too!
Romance: 3/5
Heat: 2ish/5 (only cause it wasn’t a main focus and it didn’t need to be in here)
Suspense: 5/5
Drama: 5/5
Do I Recommend this book? Heck Yeah!
Would I read more from this author?
Absolutely!
Fabulous!
Every detail is specific, believable and pretty much everything that I can imagine watching on an evening news television crime show like Dateline, which I’m a huge fan of btw but I digress. Back to Lakin Hale formerly known as Cynthia Marks. Lakin returned from the dead and is in the process of reclaiming her life, turning to writing true crime novels in hopes of bringing closure to the families of the victims she writes about. When a case comes up that is eerily similar to her own, we get to follow her and Agent Nolan on the dark path of solving a cold case murder while at the same time solving her own attempted murder.
I will not go into much detail about the story but I will tell you that it is riveting, dark, twisted, suspenseful, shocking and although I knew who the suspect was already (too many episodes of Dateline) the author was still able to make me second guess my own thoughts and suspicions about the killer.
These are the factors that lead me to rating this 5 Stars:
Original storyline
Attention to detail and specifics during the investigation of the suspects as well as the victims
Realistic plot
Another captivating read that’s full of suspense by Trisha Wolf.
How giddy was I when Lotus Effect landed in my kindle. Everything was put on hold while I devoured this book. It kept me guessing from start to finish. This suspenseful psychological romance was fanfreakingtastic! Lakin and Hale will suck you in from the get go so be prepared to block out the world, while you go along with their journey. I really enjoyed this book and know that you will too.
I was going to wait till I had done another read through before reviewing as like Trisha’s other books this was mind blowing with twists and turns you don’t see coming, but I decided this review couldn’t wait as this book needs to be shouted from the rooftops and read by everyone I know.
This book is another masterpiece by Trisha that will have you questioning your own sanity and not getting the full picture till the very end. There isn’t a lot I can say about this book without giving key details away, so I’ll just say this:
ONE CLICK IMMEDIATELY, YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!
Trisha Wolfe will always be in my top 5 authors to read. From her words to her covers. She always captivates me and holds me steady. And this story was no different.
She tells a story of crime and passion. And interlocks past and present. And you’re trying to figure out what’s true and what’s a figment of your imagination. As she unfolds this creative masterpiece page by page. And she leaves you guessing until the very end. The hairs on the my arms and the back of my neck were standing on end.
I highly recommend Trisha Wolfe’s books. She is very creative in depth, but not a drawn out writer. She is good at messing with the mind and bringing a story and the characters to life. I can’t get enough!!
Amazing does not begin to describe this book. Well done Trisha Wolfe! Well done!!! Each character is special. These words are poetic. They draw you in. And like the lotus stalks, you become entangle within them. Never to be freed. It is a wonderful way to lose yourself.
Dead for sixty-seven seconds, saved by a good samaritan? Now Lakin Hale is on a quest to solve her own murder and get justice and closure for the families and victims of cases that have grown cold.
Lakin’s dreams for her life were shattered that fateful night, now she struggles with nightmares, false memories or no memories at all, but she carries on. Partnered with FBI Agent Rhys Nolan they investigate cold cases, and as a true crime author, Lakin tells the victim’s story. They’re good at what they do, excellent in fact, there’s only one case they haven’t been able to solve….hers.
Another murder with shocking similarities take Lakin and Rhys back to the one place she never wanted to go, the scene of the crime. The story jumps back and forth between then and now to help tell the story and I’ll be honest, I found myself going back to check where I was occasionally, but the story is so engrossing I didn’t even consider it a minor annoyance, I just wanted to make sure I had my facts in order.
All I can say at this point is buckle up, you’re in for a bumpy ride, this true crime story is intricately woven and will have you changing your mind on “who done it” with every revealing chapter. While you will find some chemistry between the two MCs late into the book, this is not a romance, this is psychological crime solving at it’s finest.
I highly recommend you don’t miss this one!
Shes a true crime writer working with the FBI on cold cases, whilst trying to solve her own case.
She is consumed by an insatiable desire akin to a hunger of a starved animal, to find the truth and decipher what she sees.
Wow my head is truly spinning!! So many unique characters each with their own secrets to hide.
I didnt know who to suspect, who to truly focus on and I loved the suspence and intrigue.
The drip fed information and narrative of the past and the present kept me on the edge of my seat. I was chasing the ultimate answer, desperate to know!
The biggest thing was that until the end I was still kept in the dark, blundering about with my guesses and I freaking love that!
I think if I had known the answer to the main question the story wouldn’t of been half as good, but because I was clueless this became a phenomenal read!
An outstanding story of secrets and lies, visions, victims and finding answers.
