Shorter than I expected and the two characters seem to fall in love very quickly. Also, it felt like paragraphs or sections were missing, like the scene jumped from one thought to another without any transition.
A very sweet and touching romance between Miss Florence Capria and Lord George Northmere. I loved the fact that even though they were ensconced in a dank room for shelter, running from a mob that was fighting on the docks, they managed to reach out to each other and bared their souls. It was touching how they confided in each other their honest feeling and their pasts. It was easy to identify with the characters as everyone I know has felt lost or lonely at least one time in their lives. A wonderful romance and I recommend it.
George was the fourth son of a Duke and he was on the London docks looking for a Courtesan that his brother sent him to find, but what he actually found was Florence Capria the daughter of a Courtesan of Italy she decided that she didn’t want to be like her mother so she had been away from home traveling when her mother died and she was on the same doc trying to find a ship to take her back home. She and George found themselves in a situation that they could not control. I voluntarily reviewed this book a gift from the author with no obligation.
The author did a wonderful job. This book has a strong plot with strong characters. It is very complex and intriguing, with strong chemistry between Lord George and Florence.
“We are two lost souls who found refuge together” – so says the hero Lord George Northmere to Miss Florence Capria the heroine of Murdoch’s novella “Lost with a Lord.” In twelve hours, Lord George finds his soul mate, his muse and then loses her. This is a wonderful story with some very steamy sex scenes. Murdoch manages to delve deeply into the inner thoughts and hearts of each character – adding depth to the story. Excellent book!
A Chance meeting that turns into so much more! Lord George Northmere wants companionship because he is just tired of being alone. He decides to take a stand and seek out comfort. But what he finds is Miss Florence Capria looking for a ship to get home! Caught together trying to avoid a riot they spend the night together and sparks fly! But now that the new day starts, is there anything left for them? The journey to forever love is full of surprises and surrounded by some danger and even humor. Although a novella, I was delighted as I turned the pages of this story. With a very strong minded heroin, Italian born Florence, she pushes for her love of George and anything can happen!!! This is the start of a new series and I look forward to the next stories to come!!
This is a good story which reads easily and kept me glued to the pages throughout. Though it is relatively short it packs a lot into it.
I found this book quite different from Emily Murdoch’s other stories and it is definitely more frisky than her others.
I loved that Florence Capria was such a strong character and ensured that she got what she wanted from George. I guess some guys need a gentle shove in the right direction from time to time (LOL!)
I am quite happy to recommend this as a very good read that will keep your attention and entertain you too and I for one am eagerly awaiting the other stories in this series.
I received an advance reader’s copy and this is my voluntary and unbiased review.
