He took everything from me. My memories, my sanity – my freedom.I don’t know who I am or why I’m here. All I know is that I’m his captive, his toy, his clueless slave. Pain meets pleasure with fiery kisses as he molds me into the person he says I’m supposed to be.But who is that person? And who was I before him?I hate him for this.I fear him like no one else. And I’m drawn to him like a moth to … no one else.
And I’m drawn to him like a moth to the flame.
Every stroke of his hand brings me closer to the truth.
But when the veil of mystery is finally lifted, it only gives rise to more questions – and more dark secrets between us.
This is part 1 of a Dark Romance Duet. Both parts are now available.

AAAARRRRRGH… Cliffhanger!
“Lost Petal (Book 1)” is a fast paced, professionally written, dark, psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat! Upon awakening, the story’s heroine finds herself trapped in a stark, austere environment and suffering from retrograde amnesia. The antihero emerges as cruel and sadistic, subjecting Petal to severe punishments as well as numerous humiliations. With no memory of her past, Petal grapples with the loss of her identity, meeting her captor’s twisted demands, loss of human interaction and the warped desires her captor ignites within her body. Mystery and suspense proliferates the story with subtle hints of what may have transpired, and integral questions are left unanswered. Fortunately, book 2 is set to release in December and I recommend those who detest cliffhanger endings wait until the final release before reading. Unfortunately, due to the cliffhanger aspect, what would have been a five-star rating was reduced to simply four-stars.

Wow, this was intense .. I do not know how to describe it. A life that has changed completely due to circumstances and she does not know herself that she is responsible for it. Everything is right in the story and it makes you want to read more. I can not wait until part 2. With a stop like that. Linnea May .. it will be another top series !!
What no!!! I need answers!!! I really enjoyed this book and went into it knowing that it would have some type of cliffhanger, but certainly not the one it had. Who is Petal, what has happened to her? Is J a good guy or one of the bad ones, I am not sure, but I can’t wait to find out in book 2. This book is well written with good character development and had me turning to pages to get answers, only to be left with more questions. This is the first book by this author I have read, but it won’t be the last.
I gave this Book a rating of 5 ’s

That said this book was fun to read and keeps you guessing as to what will happen next. Very well written and I am impatiently waiting for book.
This book is a little on the weird side. It is dark, strange, dirty, and just so freaking awesome that I could not put it down. Even to the very last word I had no idea what was going on with these characters or why what was happening was happening.
Petal is just a girl. She is a girl locked away in a room with a man named J that has taken away her memory. She has no idea about anything from her past. For what purpose we have no idea. We know J is someone from her past. That is it. We know we want more! I know that even though there is not A LOT of information there is just enough to wet your whistle and to keep you going.
I have read every one of Linnea’s books and have loved everyone for a different reason. This one is exciting and different. This book she brings a different twist to everything and I loved it. Can’t wait for the next one!
This is part one of a dark, twisted duet. I can tell you nothing about the plot because I would ruin whatever is going on, and TBH, I actually have no concrete idea, just a couple theories. The author has skilfully created a world where the reader doesn’t know if the situation and characters are good, or bad, or both. Just a few tidbits were thrown to put some context to the events. Petal is going to find out the truth (and when she does, so will the reader!) and I’m not sure how she’s going to take it. I was glued to the pages for this one. I felt as confused as Petal about who and what was going on. But as bits got revealed, the need for mystery is slightly more understood. Compelling reading if you like to be led on a twisty mystery with a serious cliffhanger.
A Review of Lost Petal by Linnea May
Petal’s story – 4.5 Stars
This is the first of two books for this story, which means it ends on a cliffhanger. I don’t normally like to start a duet unless the second book is out at the same time, but this one is supposed to drop in a month, so not too bad. This is also a bit on the dark side, with lots of twists and turns that will keep you glued to your seat and have you asking WTF?

Imagine you wake up alone and scared. You don’t know how you got there, or what’s going on. Not being able to see anything around you, and when you finally get light you realize you don’t know where you are. Then imaging as you regain your senses, you have no idea WHO you are. This is the beginning of Petal’s story.

This book is absolutely amazing. It is beautifully written, and Petal is utterly captivating. This book will have your attention from the start.
The interaction between Petal and J is fascinating, as she at the same time trusts him, and fears him in equal measure. Fighting her own instincts. Having no knowledge of who he is, but he being familiar to her at the same time.
Jayson, seems to care about her, but likes to see her her suffer in a way. Deprivation of different kinds. Whether it’s physical or sexual, he knows how to manipulate the situation to his advantage. It’s also somewhat apparent that her memory loss is his own doing somehow.
This book is one amazing journey into the psyche of her characters and keep you 100% hooked. I loved everything about this book. Petal and her dilemma of where to trust, and Jayson’s struggle to do the right thing for her, fight his own desire. This is one of the best books from this author and I can’t wait for the second. Yes, it’s a duet. Sorry.
Wow, this one is going to leave you twisted in knots as your head spins. Raw, dark, gripping, mysterious and suspenseful, and sexy, this book is packed with intensity and drama. Be aware that this is book 1 of this series and it does end on a cliffhanger! The well crafted story will hold your attention as the story begin to unfold. The characters are complex and compelling and they quickly pull you into their lives. By the end you will be totally hooked and on the edge of your seat. I need book 2 now and you will too after reading this superb read.
What a masterful way Linnea May keeps the reader questioning who Petal is, what happened to her before awaking in the basement and what role did Jayson and the mysterious dark haired girl play in Petal’s life prior to the start of this story. When I started this ARC I did not realize this was not a stand alone and for “a moment” I was mad and in a bit of shock as I read the last few words thinking “oh no she didn’t”. However I am grateful to know there will be a Book 2 if I can wait until it is released. Don’t miss this book!
Phenomenal and Thrilling!
This is one phenomenal, dark and twisted psychological thriller! This story will definitely mess with your mind. There are so many twists and turns throughout that at points in the story you thought you had it figured out and then BAM a new twist to throw you off the scent! It is a roller coaster ride of epic proportions! Better buckle up and hang on!
Petal and Jayson are fascinating characters. The way they interact and the push and pull of power is entertaining, intriguing and utterly thrilling. Their chemistry is mind-blowing and the sex is exciting and highly combustible. You don’t want to miss their story.
This amazing author has given us readers an utterly incredible and thrilling story! Absolutely Phenomenal storytelling and amazing writing. Definitely recommended to anyone who likes to read dark and twisted stories that will mess with your mind.
This book was well written with easy to read language but the subject matter was so dark it took me four days to read. But I kept coming back to it. Petal was the name her psychologist lover gave her when he erased her first unwanted memories. But when she came back from college, she asked him to erase all her memories; her payment? herself! She wakes in a dungeon with little clothes remembering nothing of her past. The author describes this so well, it is hard to stomach! This was a long (duet in one read) story with a happy ending for two people into BDSM.
Enjoyed both books about petal.
Interesting premise.
I almost always finish a book even if it doesn’t catch my interest but I just couldn’t get into this book or connect with the characters.
What?? You seriously can’t leave me with a cliffhanger like that!!!!
This is a dark romance with some triggers and can be hard to read at times. However, it is a book that when you read the first lines you are pulled in and can’t seem to let go. I wanted to know more. Everything is drip fed slowly and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout, the end is a cliffhanger and a good one at that. I just want to know more about Petal, J and Malia. I can’t wait to read the 2nd part of this duet.
I have so many questions!!!
This is a definite recommend for those who enjoy a darker psychological thriller
J is in control and has acquired Petal. She has no memory of her past and only knows what J “allows” her to know. J has a plan for Petal, not sure what it is, but nothing is going to prevent him from finalizing it.
Petal is intelligent and I was enchanted with her character. She thought out her responses and reacted intelligently and with forethought – definitely not a heroine in need of saving. She was aware of her developing dependence but again she weighed her responses.
This does have elements of dubcon and capture for those who may be sensitive to this subject matter
This ends on a cliffy!
Linnea May has written a story that holds you hostage with the mystery and suspense of who is Petal and what is really going on. This story keeps you on the edge from the beginning to the cliff hanger ending. I can’t wait for book 2 to get the answers.
Petal wakes up in a darkened, concrete cell with no memory of who she is, or even was, and without her senses fully functional. Who did this to her? Her apparent captor, J, is watching her from his screen as she finally awakens. He has erased any memory of her existence so he can rebuild her mind, body and soul into the woman she’s meant to be. How far has he already gone and will he go to direct her to become that woman? Although tough and dominant, he is also tender and sweet. He gives her pleasure but cruelly takes it away. What is his endgame? There are numerous time changes between past and present that clarify and add layers of intrigue to the story. I alternated between disliking Jayson and thinking he was the famous, talented magic man that the outside world knows him to be. He started planning this over 10 years ago and I’m certain it’s going to be an exciting. terrifying but passionate journey to the end of their story. Stunning cliffhanger!
Petal’s story takes us into a place full of mystery and darkness. There are a lot of questions to be answered, but one thing is certain – J wants Petal for himself. The whys and hows will hopefully be answered in the next book, but this was an intriguing set-up, with a lot of unknowns, yet we can see that there are other factors at play that brought Petal to where she is here. It drew me in, wanting to know more, but so frustrated that Petal doesn’t remember anything!
