After the last incident—which involved a serial killer—Chevy and Seneca are considering puppy wrangling as a new, safer profession than psychic detective work. Honestly, Seneca would prefer to focus on his new relationship with Chevy, even if he’s worried about the menacing countdown calendar leading to Chevy’s birthday. But when homicide requests some assistance from them, they have no idea what … what they’re getting into. And if they’d known what would happen, they definitely would have gone with the puppy wrangling.
When an elderly couple is found dead in their own home, Chevy and Seneca are pulled into the case. But what’s unusual is that it appears neither of them were killed; instead, they simply stopped existing. Even with Chevy’s ability to go into the memories of the victims, he’s unable to tell what happened to the seemingly normal couple.
That is, until it happens again. This time, the victims are found alive, all of them kneeling and staring at a blank wall as if hypnotized by it. It’s up to Chevy and Seneca to figure out what is drawing these people and who might be manipulating them.
But when Seneca begins to act strangely, Chevy becomes concerned that he might also be affected by what is controlling the others. Chevy will do anything to keep the man he loves safe and as far from “The Light” as he can. But is it too late?
Lost in the Mind is 94k words of banter, the strangest salad ever, and the strengthening of a bond (especially after Chevy’s birthday). This book follows the events of Within the Mind but focuses on a new case.

I hope there will be more to this series!
I’d like to get lost in Alice Winters’s mind, for just one day. I want to know how she comes up with some of the things she does, case in point: “Pillage your village.” “Titillate your tunnel.” “Do something heinous to your anus.” And some others I’m not quite comfortable typing out… The things she had Seneca say were so ridiculous and silly, I cannot imagine how she’s able to write these things with a straight face!
Lost in the Mind was another twisty turny addition to the In the Mind series. Chevy and Seneca find themselves mixed up in some craziness once again, but this one gets a little personal. And while the bad guy was terrible, I almost felt a little empathy towards him, once all was revealed.
I hope this isn’t the last of Chevy and Seneca. I’m sure there are plenty more whackos out there that need to be caught!
Joel Leslie was terrific, as usual. While he didn’t have a creepy character to voice like in the last book, there were more than enough voices to keep track of and he did a great job keeping up with them. He’s got such a gift, I don’t know how he does it!
Another entertaining read/listen from Alice Winters and Joel Leslie. I would find some of the dialogue between Seneca and Chevy ridiculous if my significant other and I weren’t equally snarky towards each other. I think Winters understands what it takes to make relationships work. The plot of the story was equally entertaining, and I enjoyed the interesting perspective on mental abilities.
Lost in the Mind is the second book in the In The Mind series, and picks up where the first book ended with a new case for detectives Chevy and Seneca. Like the previous book, this book is full of interesting worldbuilding and complex characters. There is still a lot of humor and sass, but there is also a lot of action and mystery. I really enjoyed this book, and thought the audiobook was well done and entertaining.
The banter in this book is hilarious. Seneca draws everyone into his orbit with his good nature and humor. Chevy’s character is not as restrained and standoffish as he is in the first book, which allows him to participate more in the back and forth with Seneca when around others. This gives more depth to their characters and their relationship. Their connection is stronger since the awful times they shared in the first book.
The premise of Lost in the Mind is unique and fascinating and kept my attention throughout the book. The suspense is broken up by the humor which keeps this one from being as intense as the first book, even though the storyline in and of itself is quite intense.
Seneca and Chevy are good, well-rounded characters as are the secondary characters. They are interesting and supportive of the storyline. The relationship between Chevy and Seneca is solid and passionate, and their HEA/HFN is satisfying and believable.
While Lost in the Mind isn’t the mindf&%k that Within the mind is, I enjoyed this one just as much, only in a different way. I enjoyed the stress and trauma the first book gave me, but I enjoyed the fun and humor in this one that kept it from being too overwhelming.
I look forward to more from this author.
This is the type of mystery I love! I’m sitting here now, just like I did after the first book still trying to sort everything out in my head. This was a great read. Definitely less dark than the first book but still very much a fun read. Seneca was sexy and outrageous while Chevy was droll and sarcastic. Theirs is a relationship that shouldn’t work but in this instance it works perfectly.
HUGE 5*****
Seneca and Chevy are back and more awesome than never!!!
When the Homicide department asks Seneca and Chevy for help, they are sooo not thrilled to be involved in a homicide case again…
As it happens, they were right to be wary… Strange things are happening to random people… someone is tampering with their minds.
Between being harassed by some really strange behaving people and dealing with a mistery to solve, Seneca and Chevy still find time to be their awesome selves…
This AWESOME thriller will keep you glued to your sit, and will make you cry from laughing. I can’t express how much I love Seneca and Chevy!!!
Alice Winters has a wonderful way with words… She can transport you into the mind of a serial killer and still make you laugh at Seneca and Chevy antics…
Don’t miss this more than wonderful read..

Seneca and Chevy are brilliant! I laughed at every interaction!!
This story follows on from book 1 and Seneca and Chevy are in a new relationship and have moved in together. Seneca is hilarious. I laughed at every page of the story. The way he teases, jokes and interacts with people (not just Chevy) makes for a great read. Chevy is trying to come out of his shell and be more social for Seneca but I think Seneca is social enough for the both of them!!
This story follows Chevy and Seneca as they help the homicide department solve a very unusual case. As the case progresses, and things turn from weird to weirder, Chevy has difficulty figuring out what is going on. Both Seneca and Chevy notice some changes with Chevy’s gift and how Seneca gift interacts with it. While this case is not as twisted and creepy as the case in the first book it is still dangerous and kept me engrossed till the very end. I did, however, guess the possible instigator early on but the interactions, fast speed, and twists and turns allowed for a great read with a great couple at the core.
Seneca is a handful but too hilarious not to love. These two are perfect together and I can’t wait for more mayhem, hilarity, and sappiness in more of their stories!!!
