We all have one.A price. That magic number that will get us to agree to do anything, be anything.Don’t sit on your gold-plated high horse and say you don’t because you do. Everyone does. Each of us has something we covet enough that we’d sell ourselves to have it.What’s my tipping point, you ask? Apparently a cool quarter mil will do the trick. What does one do for 250 large, you wonder? Anything … does one do for 250 large, you wonder? Anything the infamous, gorgeous playboy of Seattle wants. For the next four months I’ll be Shaw Mercer’s arm candy, his beck and call girl, his faux girlfriend. I’ll be his to command, mold, push and pull in any direction he sees fit.
I’ll fight falling into bed with him. I’ll fight falling in love with him even harder. I’ll fail at both. And when my past and present collide in the most unexpected of ways, I’ll learn that while one man’s love for me has never died, the only man’s love I really want will never be mine.

Some books offer you a break.
Some offer an escape.
Others give you friendships.
Bring you a family you never knew you wanted.
But then there are the ones that ruin your life!
Okay maybe those are harsh words…I said maybe. Maybe I thought (foolishly I admit), that this would be the sweetest most uncomplicated book in the world. Nobody would think that, this is KL Kreig, drama and twist are her middle name. I’m positive.
Ok you aren’t reading this to find out that I contemplate stalking KL further to obtain book two because if I were to say that it would be premeditated and then the police might have a case for my accidental sit-in in her kitchen. So hypothetically speaking, if I were to find her kitchen and sit/chain myself to it, it is purely coincidental. (wink, wink)
You want to know what my problem is. What has got me so riled up? Why this book is ruining my life?!?!
This book!!!! Seriously, the gentle seduction. The lure. The tease of a story you know will never unfold exactly how you want it. You feel the fingers of desire gently tracing your collar bone. You can’t help but succumb to the lust in his eyes. The feel of whispered filthy words along your skin.
Then BAM out of nowhere you are hit with the end ( coughs *for now*). The teasing Temptress, aka the author, has lulled you into your perfect blissed out orgasm face only to shove you out the door without your clothes on. So yes, this frustratingly well written, bone deep aggravating, Machiavellian twist of a cliff hanger has me panting just shy of climax.
Will I tell you? Nope, the blurb says it all. But I will say that the shameless plugs had me giggling. The first chapter actually had me twisted my head in confusion because well…I’ve read that before…
It’s just…squeeee! Ugh, she did it to me again. KL Kreig has me twitching in sheer frustration, desire, and glee. This story will hold you hostage and keep the tension high. You won’t be able to put it down. If you are anything like me, it’s going to be 5 PM and you will have played hooky and still be in pjs. Hypothetically speaking of course …
So if you need to take one thing only out of this craziness I call therapy, I mean a review, it’s that this book should already be in your hands.
Willow doesn’t have an easy life. Her mother needs special care. And to support her medical requirements, she takes on questionable jobs. She doesn’t sell her body, but she does occasionally escort men as arm candy.
Shaw is known to be a wealthy bachelor that enjoys a side of kinkiness. When his father tells him that he is running for a public office, Shaw is pressured into finding a girl to date seriously before the election. Reuniting with his ex-girlfriend is an option, but he doesn’t want to use her since he knows she still has feelings for him.
The best option for him is to hire a temporary girlfriend… and Willow is the perfect match. The chemistry between them is explosive, and the romance scenes are extremely steamy. But they both know that they have an expiration date.
The story also has some surprising twists that I wasn’t expecting. The pace was a little slow but smooth, and it did a great job building up the characters and plot. I instantly fell in love with Willow and Shaw. I can’t wait to read the next book to see how things end!
This was my second book from this author and after having read and absolutely loved Black Swan Affair I had high expectations on this book. It started out really good and I loved it at first although the story seemed a bit ‘dull’ in the middle part since nothing really happened which had me feeling a little off because I had loved it until then. It didn’t minder my enjoyment of this book though. The story was well written and had a good pace; just the middle part could’ve maybe been a bit shortened to keep the reader’s attention.
I liked the main characters a lot even though I couldn’t connect with Willow, which could’ve been because she was kind of a closed off character but Shaw and Noah compensated that because they both were really outgoing and enjoyable characters.
The Story:
Willow wasn’t living the life she once dreamed about but sometimes there is a reason for why things turn out a certain way.
Her current day job doesn’t earn her enough money to pay all the expenses, growing bills and care for her mother and her occasional night job isn’t a permanent solution even though it brings her fast cash which she’s in desperate need for.
So when Shaw Mercer offers her an awful lot of money for four month of pretending to be his girlfriend, she eventually can’t refuse this offer that will help her financial problems tremendously.
But even with terms set for their arrangement and no interest of going anywhere further than that, neither of them can ignore their sexual attraction.
Thoughts:
I loved the interactions between Willow and Shaw but it never really felt like there was a contract between them because even though Willow was closed off (which she probably would have been with any guy), both really were into each other from the very beginning like an average dating couple.
When Willow’s past catches up with her, the story finally picked up and got me hooked again. I can’t wait for the conclusion because I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to know what happens next since the book ended in a cliffhanger. Oh my.
This is another great story from this author you don’t want to miss! With a great storyline, good writing and well drawn out characters.
BTW I loved Noah from the first second. I surely hope he will get a good story too =)))
Wow, this is such a great read.
A playboy finally meets his match. He’s enchanted by Willow who he needs to help him. He needs a fake girlfriend to be on his arm requested by his dad for his re-election.
I love the chemistry between the two it’s what draws you into their story. There’s a lot of turmoil as Willow has been through a lot and I loved that Shaw wants to take care of her.
I enjoyed it and looking forward to the next one
Shaw Mercer……be still my beating heart. Is there anything hotter than a guy who has always been a jerk but then suddenly turns all Neanderthal?! I think not!
K.L. Kreig – you have done it again! Whilst this is only my second foray into your writing, I can very confidently say that you are sitting on my list of most favourite authors. You know the list…. the one where you just buy their books before reading the synopsis, because there is just no need because you know it’s going to be brilliant! Yeah – that list!
I am just not even sure how to put in to words how much I adore Shaw and Willow. Seriously – love them! I want them as my friends. I want my husband to have drinks with Shaw and talk sports while I’m dancing up a storm with Willow!
Men want to be Shaw Mercer, and women everywhere want to screw him! The commitment-phobe knows it and loves it! Get in and get out! Simple! That is until Willow Blackwell of course.
Willow is the holy grail. She is stunning. She is sexy. She is smart. She is sassy. She’s only meant to play the part of Shaw’s girlfriend, for a nice little fee… But the lines between pretend and real blur very, very quickly.
For Willow, the girl who swore off ever letting anyone get close again, after learning the heartbreak of love and loss, she is falling into a serious hole of love and affection with the man she knows she probably can’t have.
For Shaw, the man who has an extremely colourful reputation with women and says he will never settle down, he has found himself as a total caveman with possessiveness taking over every fibre of his being.
Willow is his. And he is hers. And I am insanely jealous!
I loved every ounce of this story. I loved every character, every sarcastic remark, every look and every tension filled moment.
Whilst I am losing my mind at the idea that I have to wait until May to read the next instalment of Willow and Shaw, I am equally excited that the story keeps going. I have a very strong suspicion that Shaw and Willow – and their friends and family – are characters that I wish I could follow forever. If K.L. Kreig could just write this series for the rest of eternity, I’d be forever grateful!
Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!
Thank you K.L. Kreig for introducing me to these two amazing characters and for giving me another story I couldn’t put down!

OMG! I can still savouring this book while I’m writing my review. Lost in between is the kind of book where the plot of the story makes you bite your nails. Not because of the drama. It’s because of complexity of the characters. You want to discover all of their secrets in order to understand why they act like that, what make them to hold on their feelings and what are they hiding. The story is well build. It has the perfect mix of drama, passion and spicy tension. We do really need more books like this.
People tend to hide their true feelings when they have been hurt. They do it so as to protect themselves until they find the right person who will draw them out of their armour which could be impenetrable.
This book is told from both sides of the main characters. This is absolutely a bonus because you enjoy both sides of the story. I personally loved Shaw’s mind. It’s delightful to be inside the man’s mind. Shaw is a cocky man who has settled his goals in life. His family is the more important thing in his life as much s his company. He will do anything to protect them until he meets Willow.
“I’m not being heartless, just honest when I say a woman will never be a priority for me. My company, my family, those are where my focus lies”.
In order to protect his family, Shaw will set a bittersweet arrangement that involves Willow. Willow has gone through a lot. She went through the motions. She had built a wall to protect herself. Because of her mom’s health and all the fees she had to paid, she will accept Shaw’s proposition. She will fight hard to not fall for him but the tension between them will pull them together.
“Nondisclosure agreement? This sounds very Fifty Shades-ish. And just so you know, if I had any mention of hard limits or safes words, that’s a deal breaker”.
In spite of the attempts not to confuse their arrangement they will fail terribly. Goldilocks and Drive By will succumb to their desires. Together are dynamite and the tension between them is so f*cking explosive.
“He is temptation and I am a sinner. With a murmured yes, I surrender myself o his altar of iniquity knowing there will be no angel of mercy that can save me now”.
“I fuck her like she’s my new religion and I’m her devout worshipper”.
They have more in common than they can imagine. Both are protective of their beloved ones. But ghosts of the past will obstacle their future and not all that glitters is gold. The final of this book just made me so anxious to read more and we have to wait until the release of the following book of this sinful series. I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy the tug and push between two people who are discovering that they were made for each other without knowing it. You won’t be disappointed. Between us, there is a character who I’d like to read more about: Noah. He could be my guardian angel too. Now, Shaw and Noah are on my book boyfriend list. Enjoy your reading!
“You deserve happiness, Willow. Let me do that for you. Let me take away your sadness and replace it with joy”.
