Wendy doesn’t remember anything about Neverland—or the experiments done on her there as a child. Seven years later, all she wants is a normal life, but shape-shifting shadows plague her dreams and turn her life into a waking nightmare. When the shadows attack at a football game and a boy disappears right in front of her, she realizes these wraith-like shadows are real. They’re not just … haunting—they’re hunting.
A mysterious boy named Peter, his foul-mouthed sidekick, and a band of misfit boys intervene before Wendy faces a similar fate. But can they trust Wendy enough to take her to Neverwood Academy and reveal all of their hidden secrets when she’s hiding a secret of her own, or will the dreaded Red Skulls find her and drag her back to Neverland?

Loved the story! Can’t wait to read the next book!
Would recommend really cool twist on Peter Pan. Couldn’t stop reading hated the end but it makes you want to read the next book to find out how they fix it.
This reimagining of Peter Pan as a victim of genetic experimentation and Tinkerbelle as a foul-mouthed inventor just didn’t do it for me. Even Barrie himself is portrayed as a confused old man with forced amnesia. It never seems to decide whether it’s a scifi thriller or some kind of supernatural urban fantasy. Either way it feels as though there’s just a thin veneer of Peter Pan on top. It’s too dark to be whimsical and too many gratuitous references to Barrie’s Peter Pan to take it seriously. It was an okay read, but I won’t be following the series.
If you want to read a book about Peter Pan, this is not the book for you. This series is loosely based on the Peter Pan characters with a completely different spin on the story. That being said, I really liked this book. It had great characters that you cared about, a little romance, mystery and lots of action. Wendy is very likeable and her friendship/romance with Peter is very sweet. I also liked the relationship that she had with her family. You could tell that they really cared about her. Once I stopped comparing this book to the original Peter Pan story, I really enjoyed it.
