I am not positive I remember the exact date I finished, but I know it was around Christmas that I finished. So much was going on around that time, so I am just getting to the review, yet I definitely want to leave one.
I read the first in this series, did not read books 2 and 3, but finished off the series with Tracy and Keegan’s story. Keegan might have been some trouble, but it is so comforting and hope-filling to know that we are all redeemable. His care of Tracy was sweet to watch unfold. His faith in her and certainty of her story was endearing. Tracy, sweet thing, knew she saw something, and it was fun to watch how it was going to all come together. There were several twists and turns, a few I didn’t expect. It was a very good read. Oh, and Grandpa…I just loved his cantankerous self! I always think the secondary characters make the story!
I highly recommend anything by Dana Mentink, and “Lost Christmas Memories” is no exception.
Imagine being in a new place and not really knowing anyone yet, and no one knowing you yet. Moreover, you witness a murder but no one believes you, while also suffering from amnesia. Plus, someone knows you witnessed the murder and resolves to kill you, no matter the cost. Or perhaps, you are someone who grew up believing you were unlovable and unwanted because your own father did not want you or believe you have any importance. Then your two lives cross through a twist of circumstance. This is precisely what happens with Tracy and Keegan. While this is book 4 in the Gold Country Cowboys series, I was able to follow along fine even though I have not yet read the other books in the series.
The family dynamics and suspense from the unresolved murder work hand-in-hand to create a perfect story that insists on being read. I found it very difficult to put it down. I found the characters with the exception of Bryce and Mitch to be liable. I really appreciated how everything was not easy and smooth-sailing. Instead, Keegan and Tracy have to work towards finding their way to each other.
Tracy’s grandfather is another character I loved reading about in the story. He displayed the typical stubbornness and determination that comes with age and experience. His love for his granddaughter is apparent. He also wants what is best for her, including her safety.
I definitely recommend this book.
The author really knows how to get your attention from the very beginning of the story. What would you do if you witnessed a murder? Tracy has come for business and stumbles upon a horrible scene. She is terrified but knows she must get away. Through a series of events, she loses her memory. I can say for sure if I was going to be rescued I wouldn’t mind having the dashing Keegan by my side.. He is without question a true cowboy and doesn’t mind helping a damsel in distress.
Tracy is scared when parts of her memory start to come back. I liked how the Thorn family took her in and showed her grace and compassion. Keegan says something to Tracy that really stuck with me. He said,” Dunno why they decided to love me,” as he talks about the Thorns. Tracy’s response was, “Maybe because you let them.” I know I have a difficult time allowing anyone into my life and I realized how little I have allowed people to love me. Such a great part of the story I didn’t want to not mention it. It shows how Keegan has had a difficult time with relationships and perhaps like me, doesn’t feel worthy to be loved.
I loved how much knowledge the author knows about horses. It is easy to visualize how regal they are with her descriptions. Keegan and Tom do not get along at all. Tom has some vendetta against him and it plays perfectly into the story. Does Tom know more about why Tracy is is danger? Is he holding information back on what Tracy witnessed? Tracy’s upbringing is full of disappointments and rejections. I could see the parallel lives her and Keegan have. Both were not wanted when they were younger and it has become difficult to trust and forgive people.
There is heart stopping action as Tracy tries to dodge attempts on her life. Keegan must stay on his toes if he is going to keep Tracy alive. I loved the fast pace action and all the suspects on my list that kept growing. There is plenty of mystery as the story reaches an exciting ending. What a wonderful ending to an exciting series.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
this is a great suspense story, love the people and animals, she witnessed a murder but she can not remember who or who killed the person. he is not sure if she is telling the truth, until someone tries to kill them. if you like suspense and romance you will enjoy the story
Lost Christmas Memories by Dana Mentink is the fourth book in her Love Inspired Suspense Gold Country Cowboys series. Tracy Wilson witnesses a murder. After sustaining a head injury, she can’t remember who she saw; and he wants to keep it that way. This story grabbed your interest from the opening sentence and never let up ‘til the very end. The suspense of waiting for Tracy to fully remember what happened kept me on the edge of my seat. And the bond that grew between her and Keegan was so enduring. I loved the way he tried to keep her protected even when he had issues of his own. All in all it was a great story.
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Do you like horses? Miniature ponies? Dogs? Bulls? Dead bodies? Then Lost Christmas Memories is the book for you. This Love Inspired Suspense November release will catch your attention on the first page and the suspense will keep you turning pages. This is the youngest brother in the series and the final book. You can read each of the books as stand alones without any problem. You will find suspense, mystery, romance, a young man trying to find his place in life and a young woman that no one believes witnessed a murder. Weddings, babies and romance. What a mixture.
I received Lost Christmas Memories by Dana Mentink as an ARC from the author. All she asked was that I leave an honest review. I loved the book and Dana is one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend this book and author. Also, will help you get you in the mood for a Merry Christmas.
What a great ending to a great series. As usual, Ms. Mentink wrote a story that held my attention the whole way through and kept me guessing until the end. Both Keegan and Tracy had a lifetime of hurt and resentment that colored all their relationships. I liked how they worked to try to get past that. Tracy’s grandfather was a real character and added a lot to the book. I would recommend this book.
I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a positive review.
“Tracy knew at that moment that she would never make it back to the parking lot.”
Bloodstock agent Tracy Wilson accidentally witnessed a murder and then ran for her life from the killer . . . . except that there’s no body and all of the trace evidence at the scene mysteriously disappeared. Local cowboy Keegan Thorn intercepts her getaway efforts, his impulsive instincts probably saving Tracy’s life. If she could only remember the faces; that of the woman who was killed and the identity of her black-clad killer.
Keegan Thorn has a complicated family history; having been adopted into the Thorn family as a teen, after being ignored by his birth father following a sordid affair with Thorn’s now deceased mother. Still living in the same town as his father and half-brother definitely taints Keegan’s view of Tracy’s circumstances; his brother, the chief of police, isn’t giving Tracy much credibility, and his father, the mayor, deems her slightly off-kilter. Thorn is convinced that they both know more about the murder than they are admitting and he is determined to prove it.
Could Thorn be using Tracy to exact revenge on his family? Are Tracy’s own insecurities blocking her ability to accept kindness and generosity? Is love in the air or will this Thorn family Christmas become tragically lost, just like Tracy’s memories?
A wonderful conclusion to the author’s very popular “Gold Country Cowboys” series, this copy being provided; the opinions stated are entirely my own.
Lost Christmas memories
Tracey sees a murder take place so now the murderer is after her. She doesn’t really remember a lot about what she saw. Will she be able to remember in time to save herself?
The book is fast paced, you never know what is going to happen next. I loved how when each chapter ended it left you wanting to keep reading. Loved the suspense and all the action. I didn’t figure out who did it at all.
I loved how Tracey didn’t give up even when people didn’t believe her. The book has horses, a dog and cowboys. All the makings of a great book.
I received an complementary copy of the book from the author through Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write an positive review. This is my own opinion.
Dana Mentink’s novels are always such fun reads. Her Love Inspired books contain a high level of suspense interspersed with a touch of humor and always a great romance. Lost Christmas Memories is the final offering in her Gold Country Cowboys series and I hate to see it end. Each one of the Thorn brothers has had his own story and I have loved each one. Keegan’s story has been long anticipated by many of this author’s readers and I can see why.
Keegen rescues Tracy Wilson after she is injured after witnessing a murder but her head injury prevents her from remembering everything she saw. It doesn’t help that there is no sign that a murder has been committed. Lost Christmas Memories is a breath-holding, action-packed story that left me wondering just how everything would work out. Strong characters, some of whom have back stories developed over the course of the series make the story come to life.
A wonderful, faith-filled tale with long awaited reconciliation and restoration, Lost Christmas Memories is a must read for this Christmas season.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by Celebrate Lit. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
This is an action-packed mystery that kept me guessing until the very end with its tale of murder, attempted murder, memory loss, and suspected involvement by local law enforcement. Keegan Thorn is the only person who truly believes that Tracy Wilson witnessed a murder and he is determined to protect her until the killer can be found. His efforts, however, are hindered by Tracy’s loss of memory and her inability to remember key details. As Keegan works to solve the mystery he finds it easy to believe that his half-brother and his father are somehow involved. Keegan is a good guy but he has allowed old hurts to turn into a long-time grudge against his biological father and half-brother. It is only in working with Tracy that Keegan realizes that he needs to let go of his bitterness, forget the past and seek reconciliation.
This is an exciting story filled with suspense and non-stop action but it is also a testament to the power of love. I was touched by the unfailing support of Keegan’s adoptive family and I enjoyed watching a sweet romance develop between Tracy and him. Lost Christmas Memories is the perfect holiday read for all who enjoy romantic suspense and Christian fiction.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but this did not influence my review. These are my honest opinions.
Wow! What happens when you witness a murder, run for your life, end up in a car wreck and can’t remember but bits and pieces? You are very blessed to have a cowboy ride to your rescue. Fast paced from the first page and one of those.. don’t want to quit reading until the suspense and mystery is solved! Great suspense and a wow.. what is coming next story..
She couldn’t remember the murder if her life depended on it – and it might
Waking up in the hospital from a terrible dream of a murder, Tracy discovers that it was real. And she can’t remember any of the details. And she especially can’t remember why the handsome cowboy keeps calling her “Pockets”.
Tracy and Keegan were both protecting their hearts, yet in pretty much the opposite manner. Tracy tried to isolate herself from the world while Keegan put on a sunny face and had lots of friends – yet he never really opened up to anyone. Until her.
Lost Christmas Memories was pretty much non-stop action. I appreciated the way the author kept things moving at just the right pace. With enough suspense to keep things interesting, but not so much as to make it scary, there were a number of twists and surprises throughout the book. I’m usually pretty good at solving the crime and picking up on the little hints along the way but there were a couple of details here that I missed.
I really enjoyed this story and am sorry the series has concluded. Of course, I still have two more books to read in it, so at least there is that. Each of the books stands alone and yet includes characters from the others.

I was given a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
Ah, the final book in the Gold Country Cowboys series. Though this is book 4 in the series, it can definitely be read as a stand alone (but I do recommend reading the other books because the Thorn brothers are totally worth it!). There is high octane suspense and action from page 1 and the plot twists will have you on the edge of your seat. The story is fast-paced, well-written, and easy to read. The characters are so real, broken, and hurt….yet when they learn to let go of their past pain and allow reconciliation, forgiveness and healing to enter, such beauty blossoms.
Keegan is an adopted Thorn who has lots of issues from his past that never seem to leave him alone. He’s impulsive and driven by emotions and actions but does have a wonderfully protective and tender side. Tracy is new to town and strong but when she witnesses a murder and becomes the next target, she becomes fearful and more wary. For those who have been following the four Thorn brothers, both Owen and Jack play large roles in the story – which is so much fun!
If you enjoy action-packed contemporary romantic suspense, you will surely love this book. I was given a copy of the book by the author/publisher via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
Dana Mentink has outdone herself in Lost Christmas Memories, the conclusion to the Gold Country Cowboys series. This book centers around Keegan Thorn. He has an encounter with Tracy Wilson after she has witnessed a murder and sustained a head injury and is suffering from amnesia. The problem is she has no idea who was murdered and there is no body! Keegan appears to be one of the only people that believes her and they work together to discover the truth of what really happened.
Keegan is the adopted Thorn brother. He has always seemed like the rebel and definitely has held a grudge against his biological father and half-brother. This book was definitely action-packed and suspenseful with the right amount of romance. However, what I really appreciated was seeing how the author dealt with the theme of reconciliation as Keegan has to face head on the feelings he has been harboring against his father and half-brother all these years.
Although this can definitely be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend treating yourself by reading the others in the series first because readers will get updates on the Thorn brothers featured in each of the first three books
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
“Lost Christmas Memories” was a great book! It was fast-paced suspense. The reader’s attention is grabbed from the beginning and held to the very end. I would highly recommend this book!
I received a copy from Mentink. The review is in my honest opinion.
Lost Christmas Memories was such an exciting story! It was filled with many situations in which the hero and heroine barely escaped with their lives! And poor Keegan and Tracy…it seemed that so many people simply didn’t believe that these events were more than mere accidents. How frustrating for them!
Along with all of the danger that was packed into this story, the author also explored the effects of harboring a grudge and allowing anger to fester over many years. The impact of that bitterness colored choices, beliefs, and the actions of some of the characters as the story progressed.
Lost Christmas Memories wrapped up the Gold Country Cowboys series nicely, yet could also be read as a stand alone.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Lost Christmas Memories ( Mills & Boon Love Inspired Suspense Gold Cowboys-Book 4)
By: Dana Mentink
Lost Christmas Memories is book four by Dana Mentink in Gold Cowboys Series. This is a Love Inspired Suspense, and wow what a story by Ms. Mentink. I loved it . The author did not disappoint. I could not put it down. Full of action , mystery, suspense, and a good clean story. Tracy witness a murder, head injury, memory problem, and on the run. Someone is after her. Will cowboy Keegan help her? Can she trust him? Both of them have hurt in their lives. So find a good reading spot and hang on for your life. Mentink keeps you guessing till the end.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
“What a pair we are, Keegan. I don’t trust people and you don’t trust yourself.” ~Tracy
I’ve longed to learn youngest brother Keegan’s story since the beginning of the Gold Country Cowboy series. He’s been a bit of a mysterious rebel, kind of the black sheep of the Thorn family. Adopted when he was a teen with all his anger issues and a danger seeker, Evie and Tom Thorn helped smooth some of those rough edges; though he never lost that bit of rebellious streak. Yet at the core, still feeling like an unwanted and unloved child by his biological father & half brother. He never let anyone break those barriers around his heart. That is until Tracy stepped into his life when she’s threatened by an unknown man after she witnesses a murder. They seem to connect by a single thread, being loners most of their lives. Due to past family history with her dad, she’s always been looked down on and ridiculed. Figuring she can do life on her own, only letting one person in, her grandfather. Buying a remote cabin far from town seems the perfect solution to start their new life. But when the threats follow her home, will she trust the wayward cowboy enough to protect her without tangling her heart with his?
“It could not be in her to want this wild and wounded man.”~Tracy
I’ve expected nothing but the best writing from Mentink and she didn’t disappoint with this one! Plenty of action, with an extra layer of tension when Tracy has amnesia from her attack. I never guessed who was behind the murder, it came as a complete surprise when it was revealed at the end. I’d call this a high octane thriller with the constant threat, high family drama between Keegan, John and Bryce, “accidental” things happening, and plenty of self-condemnation for the hero & heroine. Learning to forgive someone who’s hurt you is hard; learning to forgive yourself, almost impossible! But it’s a lesson that both Tracy and Keegan need to learn so they can move on in life.
“What kind of courage did that take? To forgive and even patiently pursue people who had wronged you grievously?”~Keegan
So many quotable quotes in this one! Love, faith, forgiveness, action-packed high-adrenaline moments, and so much more is waiting for the reader to discover in this stunning conclusion to the Gold Country Cowboy series!
