From New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes her first women’s fiction novel—an unforgettable story of friendship, love, family, and sisterhood—perfect for fans of Colleen Hoover, Susan Mallery, and Kristan Higgins. They say life can change in an instant… life back on track. She appears to have it all: a loving family, a dream job in one of L.A.’s hottest eateries, and a gorgeous boyfriend dying to slip an engagement ring on her finger. So why does she feel so empty, like she’s looking for a missing piece she can’t find?
The answer comes when a lawyer tracks down Quinn and reveals a bombshell secret and a mysterious inheritance that only she can claim. This shocking revelation washes over Quinn like a tidal wave. Her whole life has been a lie.
On impulse, Quinn gives up her job, home, and boyfriend. She heads up the coast to the small hometown of Wildstone, California, which is just a few hours north, but feels worlds apart from Los Angeles. Though she doesn’t quite fit in right away, she can’t help but be drawn to the town’s simple pleasures…and the handsome, dark-haired stranger who offers friendship with no questions asked.
As Quinn settles into Wildstone, she discovers there’s another surprise in store for her. The inheritance isn’t a house or money, but rather something earthshattering, something that will make her question everything she thought she knew about herself, about her family. Now with a world of possibilities opening up to Quinn, she must decide if this new life is the one she was always meant to have—and the one that could finally give her the fulfillment she’s searched so long for.

This was a wonderful book. Quinn Weller had lost her sister and best friend Beth two years ago in a car accident and is barely keeping afloat emotionally. Then she finds out that she was adopted and her biological mother has left her an inheritance. After confronting her parents, she heads to Wildstone and finds out that not only does she have an inheritance, she is sharing that inheritance with a fifteen year old biological sister. Quinn leaves her old life behind and tries to find herself in the town of Wildstone. It is not easy, but complicated by Mick for her and Dylan for her sister Tilly. This is not a typical romance, it is a story of the developing love between two sisters.
I really enjoyed the start to this new series. A little town and it’s residents all seem to know each other’s business faster than social media.
I always love the chapter quotes in Jill’s books, a little chuckle to start each chapter.
Quinn received some news that has her fleeing her home to this small town, she’s inherited property and a big surprise. Her life was not as she knew it and this news had her confused. Would she wrap things up and go home or would be her new home?
Quinn and her new man…you just want them to work out.
The story was brilliant and entertaining and the characters so likeable. I highly recommend this book.
Loved it!
Highly recommend could not stop reading.
An awesome women’s fiction book! When Quinn is confronted by a lawyer with some news that turns her world upside down, she questions everything. Her life, job, parents, and boyfriend. All of the sudden, she is part owner of a house and diner in Wildstone. Between seeing her dead sister, Beth, at inopportune times, struggling to raise and build a relationship with her newfound sister, and dating the town badboy, Mick, Quinn is in a whirlwind. When her earth stops turning, what she finds is a life that she can appreciate and love. Awesome book!
After I finished chapter one, I had to go back and read it again! I love when one of my favorite authors can surprise me. We see all the things we’ve come to love from a Jill Shalvis book, but this was somehow deeper and richer. I didn’t think I could love Jill more, but darn if she didn’t pull out all the emotional stops.
Was’t sure I would like this book but as soon as I got started reading I fell in love with the characters and story. I just loved it!
Quinn Weller’s days begin with coffee in the same coffee shop, running into and chatting off and on with a pleasant older woman, driving in traffic she dislikes to a job she is sometimes not happy with only to wake up and repeat this scenario again the next day. Quinn is slowly coming to terms with the sudden death of her sister, dealing with her boyfriend that she really does not want to have a relationship with when a guy looking like Harry Potter walks up to her one morning in the coffee shop line and asks to speak with her privately. Harry Potter who is really Cliff Porter, a lawyer then tells Quinn she is adopted and Carolyn Adams the woman she spoke with numerous times in the coffee shop is her mother who left her an inheritance. This is shocking news to Quinn and once the truth is verified by her parents she takes off to investigate her inheritance. This is quite the story that takes Quinn to the town of Wildstone and the inheritance she has been given. A wonderful story of family and connections that will give you a warm and fuzzy feeling by this book’s ending. Be prepared to cheer on the good guys as you arrive at of course and she lived happily ever after ending.
After a devastating car accident took the life of her sister Quinn Weller has been left a shell of the woman she once was, she moves about her life as she normally would, but everything done without feeling. She is struggling to move on, her sister meant everything to her, and now she is gone, and Quinn can seem to find a way to replace all she lost when her sister passed. That is until a small town lawyer comes knocking on her door, with news that could completely change the course of Quinn’s life, and possibly give her back the part of herself that has been lost.
At first Quinn is hurt by the news, but soon finds that it intrigues her more, so she walks away from everything she knows and heads to Wildwood to learn more about a part of her life she never knew existed. And it’s quite the eye opening journey, one that begins to make her whole again…
Once again I am left completely in awe of Ms. Shalvis’s literary talents, and mesmerized by her touching and uplifting story. Quinn’s bravery left me inspired, and her little journey to re-discovering herself was quite an enchanting experience, one that made me laugh, made me cry, and warmed my heart. I think it is safe to say this one is going to linger with me for a while, and these charming characters have found their own place in my heart, and I look forward to revisiting them soon. If there is one book you choose to read this summer, I encourage you to make it this one, it is sure to leave you inspired!!

This book has some fabulous dialogue between the characters. It covers a lot of topics close to my heart.
Two years ago Quinn Weller’s life was thrown off it axis when her sister died. Since then she has just been going through the motions. She should be happy with a job she’s always wanted, a loving family, a guy she’s been friends with since childhood who wants to take their friends with occasional benefits to the next level. But since her sisters death she emotionally shut down and just feels like she is walking through life in a fog. Her world is turn upside down when a lawyer tells her something shocking about her past that sends her over the edge.
That past is in Wildstone, California and after confronting her parents she decides to just leave and go search for answers. She gets a lot more she bargained for in Wildstone and starts to question was she really happy in LA.
I’m going to leave a lot out as to what the surprises were that Quinn had to face (the title of the book should give you a clue) but they were doozies. This isnt a romance book per se but it does have one in it. Its more about Quinn having to face her past – both the one she knew about and the one she didnt. I certainly teared up quite a few times as I was reading this book – its both a heart wrenching and warming book. I’m looking forward to seeing what/who is going to be next.
I received an advance copy of this book for a truthful review. Quinn receives shocking news and heads to Wildstone to discover some truths. She runs into Mick and his hilarious dog Coop. And so starts another great book by Jill Shalvis. Quinn is a goof ball, Mick is drop dead gorgeous and has a great sense of humor. You just have to read this book! It is so good and very funny. I just loved it!
