From New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes her first women’s fiction novel—an unforgettable story of friendship, love, family, and sisterhood—perfect for fans of Colleen Hoover, Susan Mallery, and Kristan Higgins. They say life can change in an instant… life back on track. She appears to have it all: a loving family, a dream job in one of L.A.’s hottest eateries, and a gorgeous boyfriend dying to slip an engagement ring on her finger. So why does she feel so empty, like she’s looking for a missing piece she can’t find?
The answer comes when a lawyer tracks down Quinn and reveals a bombshell secret and a mysterious inheritance that only she can claim. This shocking revelation washes over Quinn like a tidal wave. Her whole life has been a lie.
On impulse, Quinn gives up her job, home, and boyfriend. She heads up the coast to the small hometown of Wildstone, California, which is just a few hours north, but feels worlds apart from Los Angeles. Though she doesn’t quite fit in right away, she can’t help but be drawn to the town’s simple pleasures…and the handsome, dark-haired stranger who offers friendship with no questions asked.
As Quinn settles into Wildstone, she discovers there’s another surprise in store for her. The inheritance isn’t a house or money, but rather something earthshattering, something that will make her question everything she thought she knew about herself, about her family. Now with a world of possibilities opening up to Quinn, she must decide if this new life is the one she was always meant to have—and the one that could finally give her the fulfillment she’s searched so long for.

Loved this book! For some reason I did not expect to enjoy this book but it was totally engrossing with a good finish, happy ending. Jill Shalvis keeps surprising me with how enjoyable her writing is (some stories are too descriptive in the “romance” scenes”. I prefer those scenes being left to the reader’s imagination but that’s just me). A great read, thanks for writing this story.
Very well written! I felt as if the characters were my friends!
LOVED it! Would love to read more by this author!
Good fun read.
I loved it. Some parts of it made me angry at the 15 year old girl but I loved how her sister was able to forgive her and see the big picture. I would recommend it to my friends.
Surprising.
A wonderful summer read.
I am not really a romance buff, but these characters were great. You really get to know them. Of course, you feel they will live happily ever after, but just like real life, there are bumps along the way that many of us may have had in life ourselves. Really enjoyed it. She’s on my list of favorite authors now!
A lovely new series from one of my favorite authors, Jill Shalvis. Sous-chef Quinn Weller had it all, loving parents, her dream job, her own condo and a (if we still aren’t married by 40 …) boyfriend, who she has been friends with since kindergarten and wants to marry her now. But two years ago, her sister, Beth, died in a car crash, and since then she has felt in limbo, not feeling anything at all. A lawyer tracks her down, shaking her world. She was adopted and her birth mother left her an inheritance in small town Wildstone, California, a 2 hour drive from LA. After confronting her parents, she decides to check it out and finds she inherited a house, cafe and a 15 year old sister, Tilly, who also shares the same deadbeat father. And her mother was a woman, whom she had spoken with several times at her local coffee shop. Tilly is angry and hurt and secretly fears that Quinn will desert her so puts up all the walls that a teen can.
Mick Hennessy grew up in Wildstone and left as soon as possible to get away from his father. He is now a structural engineer in a business in San Fransisco with 3 partners.. His father died 4 months ago, leaving his mother in debt and her house in great need of repairs. Quinn checks into the only hotel in town, which is suppose to be haunted and mistaking Mick, who is also staying there, as the maintenance man. Quinn starts seeing and talking to Beth, who advises her to open up her heart to her other sister. Two people who came to town with all intentions of leaving, find what was missing from their lives.
As always, the well developed characters are appealing and going through real life issues. The requisite four legged friends are there, as is a villain. Everyone needs a four legged friend.
As with all Jill Shalvis books, a very touching & heartwarming story of family lost & new family found. Jill Shalvis always adds plenty of witty characters & also a lovable dog.
“Things that annoy me:
1. Feelings
2. People
3. Basically everything, I have no idea why I started a list…”
— from “The Mixed-Up Files of Tilly Adam’s Journal”
I honestly don’t know what I have been doing with my life, and why Lost and Found Sisters was my first time reading a novel by Jill Shalvis. This book had so much love, heart, and laughter and I didn’t want to put it down. The entertainment value alone is incredible, but Shalvis also infuses romance, steam, and tough topics to boot. Quinn was a very relatable and real character, and her story gave me all the feels. The book actually switches between 3 different viewpoints, and Quinn may be a major part of the story, but she isn’t the only one. I really enjoyed the different characters and POV changes, and this book made me laugh so hard I almost cried. And I also shed a few tears from the story as well.
Each chapter starts with a quote like I started my review with, and I LOVED the excerpts from Tilly’s journal. Each one made me giggle and was incredibly relatable to me as a person too. The only thing I’m trying to wrap my head around is the insta-romance in this book. I already read book 2 as well and that definitely seems like a thing in Shalvis novels. I love a romance, even a quick romance, but how instant it was in this book kind of bothered me and is the only reason I rated this a 4 instead of a 5. Clearly, I better get used to it though, and I honestly wouldn’t give up reading this for anything. The wit, heartbreak, humor, and love that comes across is just too good to pass up, and the way Shalvis writes is a dream to read. I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Karen White and she is AMAZING. Even her ‘woofs’ for the dog and ‘meows’ for the cat got me, and I loved listening to her narration. If you like romance with some steam and don’t mind if it’s super quick, I highly recommend Lost and Found Sisters in print and especially on audio.
I always enjoy Jill Shavis books!
This is a new series by Jill and I for one can’t wait to read book two!
This book starts out when Quinn, who is struggling after the death of her sister gets a big surprise. A lawyer tells her of an unexpected inheritance from her birth mother. Quinn had no idea she was adopted! Quinn chooses to travel to the small town upstate and check out the facts. Wonderful story of Sisterhood, love and family ties. Will she uproot her life or walk away? Read and find out.
When we’re all in a moment in time where we’re craving something light to offset the real world, Jill Shalvis’ books provide true respite. THE LOST AND FOUND SISTERS deals with serious topics like death of a parent and adoption but Shalvis uses such a light touch that it never feels sad or heavy.
This book sets up the series in the town of Wildstone, and there are the expected quirky small town characters. The town itself is a refreshing shift from many small fictional towns–it’s not perfect and picturesque, it’s neglected and dying. But that works because not only does our heroine, Quinn, need the town, the town needs her (and the hero, Mick).
If you want a stereotypical romance with substantial character development for both the male and female leads, this book isn’t that. While it’s billed as romance and has a decent amount of steam, it still falls in the women’s fiction aisle, with Quinn’s development and journey taking precedence over anything else. Mick is a good guy, but secondary. However, Shalvis is a long-time balancer of romance and the female protagonist’s journey, so she handles it all deftly.
I recommend THE LOST AND FOUND SISTERS for entertaining, lighthearted, feel-good fun with characters who are charming, and a town that deserves the second-chance Quinn gives it.Jill Shalvis
I loved this book
This was a good read. I was surprised it only took me a day to suck this book in. I am happy that I found this author to add to my reading list. This story has a lot of love in it. It covers a sadness of lost and you feel the hurt that everyone is going through. The quotes and sayings are priceless. I laughed so hard I was reading things out loud to anyone that would listen. I look forward to reading more books.
Really enjoyed this first book of the Wildstone Series and recommend it
After reading book 2, I had to come back and bump the rating up to 4.5 for this one too. I truly enjoyed Quinn and Tilly’s story and I’m so glad this is a series and that I get to dwell in this wonderful world that Jill Shalvis has created a while longer. I liked my reading/listening experience so much, that about halfway into the book, I purchased paperback copies of all the books in the series – with the lack of real estate for books in my home, that is really saying something. I loved how real all the stakes and emotions are in this book – and that, just like real life, EVERYONE had something difficult they had to contend with. I also loved the bit of whimsy/magic that was included, as well as the perfect amount of romance and heat. I just know that I’m going to thoroughly enjoy reading the Wildstone series and I’m so happy to rediscover what I love about Jill Shalvis as an author. 4.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
This was a totally different Contemporary Romance book from Jill Shalvis. A wonderful heartwarming story of a bond between sisters, Quinn Weller & new found sister, Tilly Adams, and family. There is humor, sass, young love, & some heat. Great characters who worked through difficult emotions made me laugh & sigh.
Loved it! Her best beach read yet. Recommend this read to all Contemporary Romance & Woman’s fiction readers. 5 Stars
I don’t know how to fit in to this review all the wonderful things I want to say about this book! LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!! It has tragedy, it has sorrow, and a lot of sadness. It also has a 15 year old girl that reminds me of being 15! It also has a hunky, hunky man that likes working with his hands (in many different ways). Quinn struggles through out the book with many issues, losing her best friend/sister in a car accident, finding out some sad news regarding her parents……but then she meets Mick, Coop and Tilly and finds her life will never be the same again. Did I mention that I LOVED this book!
