From New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes her first women’s fiction novel—an unforgettable story of friendship, love, family, and sisterhood—perfect for fans of Colleen Hoover, Susan Mallery, and Kristan Higgins. They say life can change in an instant… life back on track. She appears to have it all: a loving family, a dream job in one of L.A.’s hottest eateries, and a gorgeous boyfriend dying to slip an engagement ring on her finger. The answer comes when a lawyer tracks down Quinn and reveals a bombshell secret and a mysterious inheritance that only she can claim. This shocking revelation washes over Quinn like a tidal wave. Her whole life has been a lie.

As Quinn settles into Wildstone, she discovers there’s another surprise in store for her. The inheritance isn’t a house or money, but rather something earthshattering, something that will make her question everything she thought she knew about herself, about her family. Jill is definitely one of my go-to authors! Love her steamy stories!
Every book Jill writes is sheer delight!
What would you do if you suddenly found out the family you know and love isn’t yours?
This is the news unsuspecting sous chef Quinn Weller receives on the eve of her thirtieth birthday, and it throws her already screwed up life into a tailspin.
In search of answers, she travels to her dead mother’s hometown, only to learn she’s inherited a cafe, a broken down house… and a teenage sister. Tempting as it is to run the other way, Quinn stays and learns love can sneak up on you even when you guard your heart.
This book has so many great quotes it’s hard to pick a favorite. Here’s just a couple that resonated with me:
I walk around like everything is fine but deep down inside my shoe my sock is sliding off.
I’ve learned that you can’t make everyone happy, you’re not a bowl of ice cream.
Shalvis, Jill. Lost and Found Sisters (p. 228). HarperCollins. Kindle Edition.
I loved the interactions between Quinn and her young sister, Tilly and the way their relationship changed throughout the story. And then there’s Beth, Quinn’s dead sister’s ghost who has sage advice and likes to pop up unexpectedly just when Quinn needs her.
There’s a flea-bitten cat, a pushover of a dog, a flock of killer chickens (or so Quinn believes!) and the handsome, supportive, sexy Mick who forces Quinn to look at parts of herself she’d closed up after her sister’s death.
This book will touch you, comfort you, and best of all, make you laugh!
I give Lost and Found Sisters 5+ lovely kisses- A must read!
Another must-read book from my fav contemporary romance author, Jill Shalvis! If your looking for a feel-good romance with emotional depth, then look no further.
Jill Shalvis has a way of tugging on your heartstrings and making you laugh at the same time.
Quinn has lost the most important person in her life and can’t seem to move forward…until her life is upended. This story is about the bond between sisters, love, letting go of the past and starting over. Throw in a little romance with sexy Mick and Quinn has everything at her fingertips for a happy future…if only she’ll allow herself to let love in.
It had a sweet story along with the main character trying to find herself.
Lost and Found Sisters is the first book set in Wildstone, California which is several hours drive away from L.A or San Francisco. It’s a small tone with a lot of businesses that have been closing down lately but is also a town with an interesting history. Here is where two sisters, divided by distance and circumstances are reunited after losing their mother. For Quinn finding out she’s adopted is something quite devastating especially since she hasn’t really moved on from losing her sister. When she inherits a house, a business and a much younger sister from a biological mother she has no knowledge of, her life has in L.A is put on hold. Mick has come back to Wildstone to help his mother after his father’s death. The town has no hold on him and he definitely doesn’t really feel like home to him at all. But when these two meet sparks fly but can they make things work when they’re both convinced that Wildstone is just temporary for the both of them.
Lost and Found Sisters is a romance but it’s more than just Mick and Quinn’s story, it’s also about Tee, her sister, their developing relationship and the pull of a town whose charm is definitely lying just beneath the surface. I love how these characters develop and comes alive that their story can touch a readers hearts and becomes memorable.
This author, one of my favorites, never disappoints. Quinn has a settled life that is suddenly topsy turvy. She leaves everything behind and gets a surprise inheritance that has to be the biggest surprise anyone could ever receive, and also the most difficult to accept. Her new life provides new family, friends and love. Not all family is blood but this one will surprise you. Will she accept it or will she return to her previous life? This book leads you through a lot of twists until you find out the answer. If you love romance and family stories, you will love all of Jill’s books! I’m on my way to go find a new one…
Note: This review contains NO spoilers
One of the cool things I love about being a booknerd/book blogger is discovering new authors (new to me, anyways), so when I read the synopsis to this first book in a new series by Jill Shalvis, it grabbed my attention. So, yeah!!! I got the opportunity to read this lovely story of a sister lost and a sister found; hence, the title Lost and Found Sisters. From start to finish, I was completely captivated by Jill’s characters. Of course, I don’t want to ruin it for those that haven’t read this contemporary story of loss, love, friendship, and new beginnings, so, yeah, NO spoilers. The synopsis pretty much sums up the gist of the book. And, I gotta tell ya, I loved and enjoyed this interesting and heartfelt read.
The world-building and character development is so well done that I can “picture” this quaint little coastal town and all its quirky characters whom of which are filled with strong and colorful personalities. The descriptions of their surroundings are so detailed that I could “see” it, and “witness” what these characters are experiencing. Many of these characters are so likeable, even when being mean…hahaha!!! There is so much depth to these characters that Jill’s writings gives them a lot of complexities to their personalities….she even gave them sass that made it funny. Yup! There is some humor found throughout the book, so, it’s not all drama. I enjoyed the balance of drama, romance, and humor that gave this story a realism that readers could relate to either personally or in general.
And, this is only the first book in this new series!!??!! Ugh! Yup! I was completely immersed into Qunn’s story and with all the residents of Wildstone. So… All in all, Jill Shalvis created an all new story of family, romance, and humor in this standalone first book in the Wildstone series. A definite summer “must-read.”
Another home run for Jill Shalvis!!
I swear I’ve said it before, but with each new book I’m even more positive that if I had to make one single person in charge of crafting the next generation of man, it would be her. Her heroines are strong and kind, but vulnerable and imperfect. The same goes for her heroes. They are somehow the epitome of alpha male but not in a way that a lot of other authors tend to write them.
I know I’m not supposed to focus on the romantic aspect of this story because it is women’s fiction but, let’s be real, I NEED a little romance in everything I read (or watch) and Quinn and Mick were basically perfection. Not surprisingly, the rest of the story was as developed and intriguing as the romance. I loved watching Quinn and Tilly connect and form that sisterly bond. I adored the small-town feel of Wildstone and the friendliness and concern of its residents. I particularly loved the unlikely friendship that Quinn formed with Lena.
I’m fully invested in this coastal California town and I’m so here for the rest of the series!!
What a fun read…I cried, I laughed and oh, my heart swooned. This story has all the elements that make a great book. It’s a story about love lost, new love, family and new beginnings. This was a heartfelt story full of all kinds of emotions. What the characters are going through is realistic, the reader could relate to these characters. A sweet story I highly recommend.
The story starts with Quinn Wellers who is a strong but guarded woman who has suffered a tragedy when her sister Beth dies and then finds out she has a connection to a woman that she just met. She makes a discovery and goes on a trip to Wildstone to meet her half sister for the first time. There are many people that Quinn meets in Wildstone; Mick Hennessey, Mick’s dog Coop, Tilly, and people in the town who help her like Carolyn, Lena, Boomer, Greta, Trinee, Cliff and Dylan.
Mick Hennessey is a very sexy and hot yet sweet, patient and kindhearted man. He is in Wildstone to help his mother after his dads death. You discover he has a history with the town.
The story is about self discovery with all the characters. This is true with a lot of people I know and I related to this story a lot.
I loved so much about this book. Tilly’s words of wisdom at the start of each chapter. The relationship between the sisters. The guys in their lives. It all came together for such a heart-warming and wonderfully fulfilling story.
Loved it. Well written and you become invested in the story as it unfolds. The characters are likeable and you can relate to the situations depicted. I laughed out loud at times and I cried too. I was sad to get to the end.
I’m a huge fan of Jill Shalvis but I haven’t been a very good reader *hangs head* After just finishing The Lemon Sisters last week, I had a wake-up call. This woman makes me happy with her words and I shall never not read her words ever again!!
Okay, so I’m loving this whole women’s fiction thing I never really understood but now I think I do. I always thought it was romance fiction without romance LOL which I know sounds ridiculous, but whateves. Well, now I know better.
I loved Quinn’s journey a lot, but I have to say, that Tilly stole the show for me. HER journey both with Quinn and Dean was really what kept me until 2 am this morning! I’m so happy I got to read the before Tilly because I’ve already read the after LOL and it was glorious! 🙂
And I really appreciated Beth’s role in Quinn’s journey as well. I don’t think this story would have been as touching and heartwarming if it wasn’t for that element so kuddos for that!
The only reason this story is not getting a 5 star rating from me is Quinn’s parents. Their actions were just thrown into the book and then just left there. IMO, they should have been explored better. They played a significant role in defining who Quinn thought she was so they should have played a significant role in who she became. But that’s just me.
Anywho, read this woman’s work. I guarantee she will warm your heart every single time!
5 Stars for for a book that gave me giggles, tingles, wiggles and a big wide smile.
I adored these characters, I want to move them in next door. Quinn, the woman who lost a part of her soul when her sister died, and her past was scrambled. She was so easy to attach to. She was snarky, emotional, warm, giving and stubborn and she cooked, bonus. Mick, strong, tall, dark, sexy, dedicated, kind, giving, and good to his mom. Yums. Tilly, she was the teenager who had life hit her upside the head. This girl was not the stereotypical teen in most books, she had her drama, her back talking, and defenses in full force but she was also very lovable and unselfish. So many characters from the parents, the catty ex, to the weird old men hanging around gossiping, I loved them all, each were developed just enough never over done.
The story was a beautiful love story that dealt with finding the right place in the world. It may not be where you are planning on going. There is a lot of heart felt emotional findings in this and so much fun. Tilly’s journal note at the beginning of each chapter always made me laugh.
The story touches of some sensitive subjects. Death of a sibling, child abuse, adoption, corruption, all were handled tastefully and resolved.
I gave it 5 stars for pure enjoyment I got out of the book. I am planning of re-reading this and listening to it on audio.
I enjoy this author, and this book did not disappoint
I didn’t, no I couldn’t put this book down. Highly recommend this great read
4.5 stars
I am a huge Jill Shalvis fan. It’s no secret. I’m even (slowly but surely) reading all of her back library – in order – that I can find. There have been ups and downs, but it hasn’t changed the fact that I just adore her characters and her stories. Even saying all of that, this story blew me away.
More than this being a love story, or even a story about finding yourself, this is a story of sisters. Believe me, I know the title tells us this. But I didn’t realize the extent that theme would be taken. I laughed and cried and my heart just about broke. When I was reading Tilly’s POV I would get so frustrated with her, but I’d also know that it really is how an insecure 15-year-old girl would react to these situations. Teenage girls (and boys) are quite self-centered. Not because they are trying to be jerks, it’s just how humans are wired. One of the gems of this book is the lead-in to each chapter that is a quote from Tilly’s diary. These are gold! “I want to be cuddled. But I also want to be left the hell alone. Being crazy is hard.” – from “The Mixed-Up Files of Tilly Adam’s Journal”.
Quinn is truly one of the strongest characters I’ve read. She has a lot thrown at her and somehow rolls with the punches. And there are a lot of punches. Even when she’s not sure of what decisions she is going to make, she still gives everyone her all. She’s not only the best daughter and friends anyone can ask for, but also the best sister anyone could hope to have in their life.
As much as I admire Quinn, no other man could be right for her other than Mitch. Holy cow, I love that man. Even the author, in her notes at the end of the book, said she fell in love with Mitch and he ended up a bigger character than she had anticipated. There’s a point that his attributes are listed by Quinn, and it’s pondered if he’s perhaps Superman. Yet, somehow, he doesn’t come across as cheesy or insincere. He’s really a truly wonderful person.
The cast of characters in the town of Wildstone are crazy, eclectic, quirky, and loyal…just how I like them. I’m excited to read more about this town and especially see more of Tilly, Dylan, Lena, and Boomer.

Good “beach read.” Not a lot of substance, but entertaining.
