There are many reasons to enjoy reading Lost and Found by author Amy Shojai. I love dogs so that was a sure pick for me and when you add a child with special needs, and add in promising new medical research, and a mystery … I was hooked!
September Day, yes that is her name, and her sister April end up in a cat and mouse game of death with a suspenseful plot. April’s son and his ‘in-training’ companion dog are missing! April frantically calls her sister to demand that she find Stephen and his dog Shadow. There is a hint of a mystery between the sisters about a debt owed among the two. Stephen is autistic and needs his new medicine within 24 hours or there will be consequences for his health. September feels responsible and drops everything and leaves the safety of her home to search for Stephen and Shadow. Murder starts happening! To find out how Stephen and his new experimental treatment is the factor in the events which happen, you must read the book! I love the perspective from Shadow about his dedication and feelings toward the people in his life and how he must relate to them.– An Autistic Child, a young dog, and secrets people will murder to keep….
Lost And Found (September Day Series, #1), my first read from author Amy Shojai. I was gifted an audio copy of Hide And Seek (September Day #2) and wanted to read this first. I’d got this back in March of 2017 and never got around to reading it. A well-written story from a very good author. December seemed to be my month for new authors, January & February & then March continued the trend, and now April. “I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading Hide And Seek (September Day #2) next. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Fast paced, non stop action, complications and developments as you bite your lip in fear for the boy. I love the dog chapters. Very well done and highly recommended.
This is a great book. Mystery keeps your interest, stayed up late trying to finish.
Wonderfully written-entertaining. This book goes hand in hand with the others: Show and Tell. Hide and Seek. Read all three-they’re all very good-I would recommend them
September Day has returned home to a small, north Texas town after losing her husband. She is dealing with PTSD and doesn’t get out much. She’s also an animal behaviorist and is trying to set up a dog training business. But everything takes a back seat when her autistic nephew and his service dog, who’s being trained by September, go missing in a freak blizzard. Upon arriving to help, September soon learns that all is not as it seems and she discovers a conspiracy that people will kill to keep quiet.
I really enjoyed this book which is a heartwrenching thriller and a riveting start to a new series. The book’s well-written with well-rounded characters, some of whom you’ll like and others you won’t. The story will pull you in from the beginning and keep you captivated until the end. You won’t want to put the book down. I’m really looking forward to more from this series and highly recommend this book.
I was surprised by the ending it got a little hard to read because of the subject matter and the brutality, but it was hard to put down.
It’s unusual to know “who done it” and what they did prior to a mystery book ending. But this book by Any Shojai gives it a spin and then some! Great story. Reality of off-labelling turned on its head. Frightening, that part, but shows the desperation for cures. Absolutely my favorite character was Shadow. Good dog!!!
Not realistic, I hope, but a great read.
A great September story. It’s so complicated I never figured out who did the murders. I couldn’t stop reading till I knew!!!
Sat up till 2 a.m. to finish it because each time I tried to close it it called me back!
Though I didn’t find the writing style compelling, I stuck with it as it was interesting to learn how these admirable partnerships work.
A haunting story that pulls on heart strings for families desperately trying to help their kids. A very chilling thriller about those who want advances despite the consequences.
Excellent
This was my first novel by this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I loved that we learn the dogs thoughts & how they interpret human scents & behavior.
If I read it, it was excellent !!!!! I READ IT. JAK,jr.
An entertaining view into the evil used against the helpless to gain economic gain.
The twists and turns of the plot were unpredictable, which I like. My favorite aspect was that the dog, Shadow, also had a voice and perspective in the events.
Very good book… Love the characters…even the cat… I’m not a cat person so the dogs was of course my fave! A good mix of people (good and bad) vs. animals.
