Five years ago, Claire Fletcher escaped her abductor. But some scars never fade, and surviving was just the beginning… family and a successful career to resort to such unspeakable extremes? What Connor finds out confirms Claire’s suspicions of something dreadful behind Holloway’s picture-perfect facade: a link between the terrified mother and a serial strangler targeting Sacramento soccer moms.
As Claire and Connor are drawn back together, their investigation leads them to unearth everything Holloway was hiding. What they find could be the only way to stop a killer from striking again.

Unfortunately I read the second book before I realize that it was second book in the series so I was very disappointed so make sure to read the first book before reading the second book and I’m sure to be a great series cuz second book was actually very good
This was a totally different kind of mystery. First of all, Claire is a survivor of kidnapping, rape and the trauma of being held for years. Claire and her sister Brianna are fishing on a river, when they hear a sound of a car crashing, flying off the road and over their heads. Claire goes into the water to rescue people….only to find the car is filled with children and a woman.
I won’t describe what Claire sees as the author does a superb job of putting you in the water and witnessing what happens. Reporters and cops appear and Brianna pretends she did the rescues so her sis can escape the publicity….this becomes important later on.
Meanwhile Connor and partner Jade are looking for a serial killer of moms. This plot ties together so well and tight and as the police look for the killer, others try and figure out Leah Holloway. Never judge by appearance or lifestyle, walk in Leah’s shoes as she deals with 3 kids, a husband that doesn’t help, a job and a best friend, Rachel, that is everything a friend is NOT. Why would Leah drive off the road, she doesn’t drink, a bit proper, a bit overweight, a hard worker and as her friend put it, not a beauty.
The evidence collections, background checks, interviews really show that not everything is black and white….the police do a terrific job while hunting for a serial killet that bites. And that leads to an autopsy that blows everything up.
This is intense but not gruesome and as information comes to light, your views of each person might change. Claire and Connor have a connection and even though the relationship started in book one, you catch on quickly if you just read this book. As usual, I didn’t read the first one! This is a gripping read and introspective and a great mystery….why would Leah try and kill herslf and a car full of children?? 4.6 stars
Lisa Regan delivers a wonderfully tense and suspenseful story with engaging characters. You will not see this ending coming! Amy Landon does an amazing narration as well.
I highly recommend this book to fans of the contemporary romantic suspense genre.
A serial killer on the loose.. A woman driving off a bridge with 5 young children in the car killing herself. The two investigations into the seemingly separate things that lead to a shocking collision of the two.
This book picks up 5 years after the first one. Clair Fletcher may have survived her 10 year ordeal of being the captive of pedophile, and is in most ways living a normal life with the exception of relationships, but to do this she still closes off her emotions. She and her sister have been living together and are fishing when right above them a van comes careening off the bridge and they are shocked to see there are 5 small children in the back. Clair does everything in her power to save everyone but the driver doesn’t want to be saved. This brings back unwanted emotions from her past.
Connor Parks is now part of the task force looking for the serial killer targeting mothers. He is still hurting a bit over Clair calling things off between them two years ago. With the attention the suicide is garnering Conner is assigned to find out what would make a mother of three try to kill her own kids plus the twins of her best friend. This puts Conner back in close contact with Clair where the two (mainly Clair) work on the issues keeping them apart. I appreciated how the author dealt with their relationship and with Clair’s history and didn’t try to just rush their relationship just for the sake of the book.
The investigation into Leah Holloway’s life kept you captivated to the pages. It takes over the main focus of the book but the author had a rhyme to her reason and it was shocking. Loving this series so far and hope there are more books to come.
Can I give this one 10 stars? No, make that 100!
I’m easily Lisa Regan’s biggest fan. I read her debut, Finding Claire Fletcher, the moment it came out and it instantly became my favorite book of all time. And as a diehard fan of Greg Iles, that’s saying something! Then Losing Leah Holloway came along, and I think it might’ve surpassed FCF.
I love the characters, the plot, and especially Regan’s writing. Put them all together and you have a breakout on your hands! I couldn’t even guess whodunnit and was very surprised to learn who it was. I’m not gonna rehash all the plot points and spoil it for anyone. Just know that, if you enjoy complex mysteries and suspense with equally complicated characters with rich histories and dark flaws in a gritty setting, you’ll absolutely LOVE Losing Leah Holloway! READ. THIS. NOW!!!
5 *****
I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t wait find out who the killer was. Wasn’t who I thought it was. This book is very suspenseful with a lot of twists and a little sex. The characters are very likeable and well developed. Just when you think the book is done, there’s more and then it all comes together. I have already recommended this book to my fellow book worms.
Thank you good reads for the free book, thank you Lisa Regan for this enjoyable book.
