The line between love and hate isn’t always thin… ex-husband for not being there when she needed him most, but that doesn’t mean she stopped loving him. Desperate to let go of the past, she’s thrown herself into coaching women’s hockey and made a new life for herself. A life without Gage.
Sparks fly and history repeats itself, when they find themselves thrown together. This second chance might be their last, and Gage is determined to do whatever it takes to prove to Laurel this time will be different. Can he find a way to win her back or will she always be the one who got away?

We have had snippets about Gage and Laurel from the previous books so I was stoked this was their book. Gage and Laurel have tons of history some good, some bad and due to the bad Laurel won’t open her heart to him again but Gage is willing to fight. While Gage is fighter for Laurel she is trying to make her mark as the first female coach for the NHL which means taking flack from not only the team, but upper management and pretty much everyone else in the male dominated NHL. Be ready for plenty of emotions, highs and lows as well as some surprises and twists you don’t see coming!!
Losing Laurel is the 4th book in the Alaska Blizzard series by Kat Mizera. Laurel and Gage meet in college. They fall in love and get married. Too many secrets and not enough communication tear Gage and Laurel apart with them divorcing and going their separate ways. Gage and Laurel haven’t stopped wanting or loving each other as the years have gone by. Laurel and Gage have given into their passion for each other when the itch becomes to much to ignore. Will Laurel accept Gage’s proposal to coach the Blizzard for the remainder of the season and into the playoffs, if they can make it? Will Gage and Laurel be able to keep their relationship strictly professional? Will the Blizzard players play for a woman coach? Will Gage and Laurel confess the secrets that destroyed their marriage? Can Laurel forgive Gage for not being there when she needed him? Can Laurel trust Gage when he says she is the most important thing in his life? Love the chemistry, passion, and love that exists between Gage and Laurel. The reader can tell how much each of them loves the other, but the reader can also tell how stubborn both can be when hiding their secrets from the other. More communication between Gage and Laurel when they were married would have saved each of them so much heartache. I loved Losing Laurel by Kat Mizera! Losing Laurel is a fantastic book with great characters who love and fight with the same intensity. Love seeing the characters from other books weaved into Gage and Laurel’s story. Kat Mizera is a MUST read author for this reader. Losing Laurel is a great second chance love story, and I highly recommend getting it. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
I am proud to say that I have been with Kat Mizera on this wild ride with the team known as the Alaska Blizzard from the very beginning. From day one I have been drawn to these characters, taken them to heart and desire to know what the future holds for each and everyone. I have been the most intrigued by not one of the players but rather the team owner, Gage Caldwell. I must say his story has certainly been worth the wait. Gage and his ex-wife and hockey player/coach, Laurel have had roller coaster love affair over the course of 15 years. Neither one can seem to get over the love and pull they feel for each other but secrets from their past haunt them daily and keep them from allowing the other one back into their life. Losing Laurel is story of true love, second chances, and the undying need for forgiveness. It was the perfect blend of romance and intrigue with an underlying mystery that will cause you to want to jump into the pages to uncover this deception!

This is the fourth book in the Alaska Blizzard series. The owner of the team is going to get s second chance with the love of his life. I really liked Gage and Laurel. I was rooting for these two to get their second chance because you can tell hoe much they still care for one another. Laurel makes history in this book and to me as a sports fan it’s pretty cool to read. Those two had secrets come between them long ago. Is history going to repeat itself because secrets could be their downfall once again. There were a few twists I didn’t see coming that made me gasp. I also enjoyed catching up with characters from previous books and the Sidewinders as well. This is definitely a good addition to the series.
LOSING LAUREL, is the 4th book in the Alaska Blizzard series by Kat Mizera. Professional hockey team owner Gage Caldwell hires his ex-wife, former Olympian Laurel Saunders, as an interim hockey coach for the team after Gage fired the coaches with just a few weeks left to the hockey season. Gage and Laurel have an emotional past that still has heat that flares between them. In between them working to get the Blizzard hockey team to the playoffs, can they resurrect their broken love affair?
Gage and Laurel’s story has been one that I have been dying to read since being introduced to them back in the beginning of the series of the Alaskan Blizzards. This is a couple that is older and their 2nd chance at love is rife with issues, misunderstandings, and drama but the love, passion and feels are still there. I loved the twists and turns; the way the story went. I can’t wait for book 5 in this series. This is a really riveting series that keeps you hooked from book to book.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ******
Billionaire Gage Caldwell seems like he has it all. He’s made a fantastic life for himself in Alaska and has a career he enjoys, good friends and plenty of money. But, he doesn’t have Laurel . . . the only woman he has ever loved. She may be his ex-wife, but he’s never quite given up on reconciling their relationship and he’s about to make his biggest play ever at winning her back.
Laurel Sanders may still love her ex-husband, but she can never forgive him for not being with her when she needed him most or for all the secrets he kept from her. Hockey coach and star athlete in her own right, Laurel has moved on as much as she can and has a life she loves. But, she’s never had another successful relationship after Gage, as she can’t completely let go of the past.
When Gage offers Laurel the chance of a lifetime jumping in at the end of the season to coach his NHL team to the playoffs, she can’t refuse. She knows it probably isn’t a good idea, but coaching the Blizzard is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Sparks fly even though the past seems doomed to repeat itself where Gage and Laurel are concerned . . . Will both Gage and Laurel be able to work through their issues, both past and present or will Laurel once again be the girl that got away?
I’ve been intrigued by Gage Caldwell from the first mention of him in the Alaskan Blizzard series and Kat has made him a larger than life character in the best of ways! There is so much more to this loving and loyal billionaire than readers could ever have imagined. His professional life isn’t all it seems and his dominance in the bedroom was as sexy as it was unexpected.
I also loved finding out what happened between Gage and Laurel all those years ago. I loved Laurel’s character and how she fit herself into a predominantly man’s world by being the first female head coach in the NHL. Watching her deal with the team and players was fantastic as she gained their respect. She was a complete bada$$!
I’m also a sucker for a second chance at romance. I adored that this romance was never about loving enough. Both fully admitted they were still in love with the other . . .it was all about trust and just how damaging it is to a relationship when trust is broken. This was a really hard fought romance as the trust issues continue into their rekindling relationship and everything is put on the line once again.
Losing Laurel was unexpected, shocking, exciting and super hot! I fell in love with this couple and their happy ever after. 4.5 stars!
Gage Caldwell knows he screwed up big time when he let his ex-wife walk away, she was his everything, only he didn’t figure that out until it was too late. Now he has everything he could possibly want out of life, except for her, and he wants her back… question is will she let him back in?
Laurel Sanders has never been able to get over the pain her ex-husband caused her, when they married he promised to be there for her always… but when she needed him the most he was no where to be found. But as much as despises him, she can’t deny the feelings she still carries for him, that man worked his way into her heart, and no matter what she tries to get rid of him, he is still there.
Losing Laurel is a beautifully penned story of forgiveness, love, and second chances. From the very first page this one had me hooked, I met these wonderful characters and I couldn’t help but want to stick around and see what was in store for them. Their story really did a number on my heart, it was emotional, angst driven, romantic, and very passionate. They had so much hurt to work through, secrets to unveil, and wrongs to right. There were also a few unexpected twists and turns thrown in there to keep things exciting too, it was perfectly blended, and well rounded tale. If you are a sports romance lover like me, then I have a feeling you will love this one too, it comes loaded with lots of “the good stuff” to leave your heart happy! Highly recommend!
