I have always loved CL Wilson’s writing but this one has to be my favorite. I wish I could get everyone who loves romance and fantasy to read this book.
My favorite fantasy romance series!
You get pulled into this world pretty easily–I spent many nights in a row up very late reading!
This book surprised me. I don’t read much paranormal romace. And a friend gave me this book to try. Fell in love with this story. Awesome!! much adventure and emotion. Can’t wait to read more of her books.
4.5 stars I was amazed how much I liked this book. I almost did not read it based on the back cover, it sounded too sci-fi for my taste. What I found was a wonderful paranormal shifter/fae/mage fantasy romance, filled with very real and interesting characters.
An Alpha male hero with control issues and a broken heart. He is ancient and a major part of a horrible history of this world. He has been alone for decades. His name is Rain, he is their king. He reminds me of the Ilona Andrews character Curran.
She is an Alpha woman who has been persecuted for not being the normal girl of the village. Her soul calls to him unknowingly in a moment of fear and anger and he answers. She has had dreams all her life of this man, but why ? Her past is a secret she was found as a small child along the side of the road. he name Ellysetta, she is beautiful, tall and mysterious.
The world is in great danger evil mages are getting stronger,Rain can sense it. The villagers doubt him, they want proof. he only wants to get his soul mate and get out of there, history makes him want to hide her away. She is not one to shy away though.
I loved the world building and the strength of the characters written into this book. I could read it many times and keep finding new details to enjoy. The writing was so fluid I felt I was transported to the world with them. (Exactly what I was looking for in a book) I am going to rush out and get the rest of the series.
WOW. That is the only word I can use to describe this inventive, magical fantasy world. LORD OF THE FADING LANDS is a roller coaster of emotions, from pain, love, and anything else you can think of. It has been such a long time since I have read such a novel with incredible characters and imagination. I truly did not know what to expect when I starting reading this story and was quite wary because there are so many other fantasy-like generic books on the market. From the first page, I felt the power and fury of Rain and the innocence and frightened nature of Ellie. There are so many other characters that add to this lyrical and complex book, that if I had to mention them all, I would spend pages and pages going over all their attributes. Rain and Ellie’s own romance is sweet and has just enough passion for most romance enthusiasts’ enjoyment. Nor does their love story take over so much for the straight fantasy fans.
One of my all-time favorite books. I usually read around 300 books per year and she stood out from the minute I opened the pages of her first book. Was on a plane and never looked up till I had to deplane. Wow, I just devoured her books. Plot, writing people you want to read about again and again.
This is a great story. I recommend the series.
Loved the plot, the characters are now part of my mind and I couldn’t wait to read the whole series, they are so well written and drag you into that world. Very accomplished wordsmith – excellent.
If you love magic, great character development, and the fight of good against evil, this is a series for you!
This is one of my favorite fantasy romance series and it does both romance and fantasy so well! I re-read it every few years it always holds up really well!
I read the whole Tairen Soul series and absolutely loved it. Let me first start by saying, I don’t read fantasy! But I saw a glowing review for this book from someone I trusted, so I bought this, the first book in the series, and bought all the rest.
The world building is really amazing, and I loved the two main characters, Ellysetta and Rain, as the fated lovers. Nothing is easy for them and bad actors want nothing more than to tear them apart. Lots of darkness in this book, and super hot romance.
If you like adventure, action, highs and lows (some parts very low indeed) and romance, try this series.
I love finding new authors to read from, especially during a Reading Challenge. Lord of the Fading Lands is the first book to C.L. Wilson’s Fantasy Romance series called Tairen Soul. I came across it while looking for a book to fulfill the Journey’s End square for the #Romanceopoly2020 Challenge. I wanted to give it a try, and I’m glad I did. I love both Fantasy and Romance and couldn’t wait to dive into this book.
The first book introduces the main characters, Ellysetta Baristini and Fey King Rain Tairen Soul, to the storyline, and C.L. Wilson does a fantastic job of building the world for readers. I literally could not stop reading this book because I needed to find out what happened next to the characters.
Ellysetta is the woodcarver’s daughter in the story, but she’s not biologically his daughter. She was adopted, but the woodcarver and his family love her as their own. They are very protective of her and want her to be married right away to someone Ellysetta doesn’t want to marry. One night she ends up calling for the Fey King Rain Tairen Soul when she is in distress. Her soul beckons for him. Rain never expects to find his true mate. He hasn’t visited Celiera where he finds his true mate, after a thousand years. He’s determined to protect her and knows she will be targeted now by the dark mages due to her being the Fey King’s true mate. The dark mages who supposedly have not been seen in a while are brewing up trouble in Celiera, but no one believes the Fey. Rain is determined to make his case about the dark mages, and it takes his true mate getting hurt to make others realize how dangerous it is.
I enjoyed the first book of this series by C.L. Wilson. I’m going to pick up the second book in the series when I can squeeze it in between other books I need to read and review. I loved getting to explore this world that C.L. Wilson has created for her characters. Rain is not someone to mess within the book, and Ellysetta may seem ordinary, and everyone calls her plain, but she’s anything but that in this book. There were times that Rain drove me crazy with the way he acted with Ellysetta in the book, but I knew why he did after a while. I liked getting to know the other Fey that protected Ellysetta too. There’s one character in the book I can’t stand, and she happens to be the Queen of Celiera. She drove me bonkers with how she treated Ellysetta and the Fey. I’m glad the King put her in her place a couple of times.
If you are looking for an epic fantasy novel that involves Fey, dark mages, and magic, then this book/series is for you.
My fantasy streak continues and this was another hit for me. Not so great cover but really good book. It’s heavy fantasy and heavy romance and slightly cheesy and I ate it up. I really liked this world and I can’t wait to see how the world expands as the series goes on. The magic is cool and while I wanted a bit more of a climax in the end, I’m excited to see where it goes.
