Poor judgment: knowing better yet doing it anyway.Flint Stone is a professional in every way. He’s a police officer with the K-9 unit and works at Gun Barrel High as the school resource officer. In his spare time, he’s working his heart out to create a successful gym from the ground up.He’s loved by every single person he ever encounters—student, faculty, and employees—Everyone but Camryn Elvis … employees—Everyone but Camryn Elvis Presley.
The only thing they have in common is their mothers’ poor excuses for names.
Period. The end.
So why is it every time she crosses his path that he has the urge to mess up her perfectly curled hair? Or unbutton a few of her prim and proper buttons?
He knows he should stay away, yet like the high schoolers he’s around every day, he has no choice but to react first and think about the consequences later.
Side note—bad decisions are made, leading to lapses in judgment that threaten both of their jobs. Yet when the time comes, neither one can seem to find the wherewithal to care. Why? Because being bad feels so good.

I devoured this book.I couldn’t put it down. I just loved the humor in this one so much. I laughed a lot while reading this book. The characters were great. I loved Camryn so much. I loved her quirkiness. She’s just perfect for Flint. I loved the banter between them. That was one of my favorite parts. Flint is delicious and I loved how he saw how beautiful Camryn is. More importantly made her feel it. There are some parts that made me gasp and unexpected twists. This book had me laughing and happy sighing, but also had me on the edge of my seat. I love the epilogue so hard. It was the perfect touch to this book. I would highly recommend this book, but be aware a book hangover may result because you won’t want to put it down.
Lord have Mercy is book 2 in The Southern Gentlemen series. This book had me laughing from page one and I couldn’t put the book down an enemy’s to lovers book at it finest, if you want a book that has a little bit of everything in this is the book for you, see if Flint and Camryn can get past their hate for each other and find love. Another awesome read by Lani Lynn Vale.
Title: Lord Have Mercy
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Publication Date: April 23, 2019
Loved all of it, flow, characters and storyline.
Lani Lynn Vale is still a pretty new to me author.
Lord Have Mercy was the 2nd novel I’ve read by her and it’s safe to say this author is now officially on my #OneClick list!
I loved Camryn!
Her outspokenness and overall quirky adorable-ness made me wish she were real so we could be friends.
The interaction and bickering between Camryn and Flint was not only entertaining but actually kinda hot.
It was like sexual foreplay.
You just knew beneath the surface they were extremely attracted to one another, and it was only a matter of time before they pounced.
This book was super steamy and full of suspense and twists and turns I suspected but was still surprised when they happened.
I’m definitely hoping for more from this series!
I was super excited for this story after meeting these two characters previously in Hissy Fit. This whole group of people is addicting.
I can’t find one single thing not to like about Flint. He is the perfect book boyfriend. He’s smart, funny, sarcastic, charming, infuriatingly sexy, and sometimes just plain infuriating. But you can’t wipe the smile off your face when you’re reading. He’s a good guy, with a good job, and a good heart. Dare I say he’s perfect? Well, not quite, but pretty darn close if you ask me.
Camryn is a riot. It’s like secretly looking into the mind of every girl out there. She loves donuts, hates exercise, and is unapologetic about it all. She’s witty and sweet, but her sass often gets her into a war of words with the sexy Flint.
These two are highly entertaining to follow. You never know what is going to happen with them next. They can jump from funny and flirty to intense and passionate in the blink of an eye. Add in some of our other favorites from Hissy Fit and a few unexpected twists and this is another great book in this series. I can’t wait to read more.
Have you ever loved someone from afar, so hard that you would do anything to gain their attention? How about smashing into his police cruiser because your mind was pre-occupied with dirty thoughts of him? That is Camryn and Flint. Aka flinststone. Yeah, I’m pretty sure his mom had jokes.
Being the school resource officer brought Flint right where he wanted to be .. in Camryn’s school. He knows all of her moves. All of her doings and … mis-doings. Flint got his chance to woo her and once she was under his spell, she wasn’t going anywhere. I absolutely love their banter. Each one has their own version of smart assery. Their sense of humor is off the charts and I absolutely love this duo. As with any books by Lani Lynn Vale, it’s addictive, it’s funny, it’s love and it’s amazing. Make sure to pick up Lord Have Mercy, which is the second book in her new Southern Gentleman series. 4 ½ feathers!!
Flint is a cop with the K-9 unit and works at the high school as a resource officer. He’s able to get along with everyone but Cameryn. Cameryn is a science teacher at the high school. When she ends up in a cross fit class with Flint, the two have hilarious interactions and end up with attraction. How will Flint’s girl and Camryn’s boyfriend figure into the mix? A crazy mixed up story about love and overcoming past hurts. A great read and recommend.
I’m pretty sure that Lani Lynn Vale is one of my new favorite authors. I mean, this book started off with a reference to the Final Destination movie series, something that I think about all the time from that movie! It’s funny to read my updates on Goodreads as I was reading this, I keep going on and on about how much I love this author! So much that she does in her stories makes me laugh, and keeps me turning pages, staying up way later than I should. One fun thing is that each chapter has a little text or note from one of the characters, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the actual story in that chapter, but is so funny and gives you such a fun snippet of the characters on the first chapters, and by the end you’re just chuckling at the little tidbit and thinking how that is sooooo whatever character it is. The characters are real, but fun. All the characters play a role in the story, even ones that you might think are just there as extras end up having bigger parts to play a lot of times. I loved the total hate/lust that was between Flint and Camryn. And their names, so perfect! Flint Stone. And Camryn Elvis Presley. But it’s not all fun and games and just gossipy issues at school for the drama. There’s real drama at the end. Major drama. Some tears drama for me. But lots of loyalty and love and steam to make it the kind of story I have come to love and expect from this author.
This is the second book in The Southern Gentleman Series. It is a stand alone, but book one is fantastic also. So you really can’t go wrong.
This book will have you laughing out loud.
Flint Stone and Camryn Elvis Presley will have you snorting. They may also have you wanting to slap their exes. In the face. With a steel chair. A few times.
I love Dooley! But who doesn’t love a K9 Officer.
I love the “I hate him/her” foreplay. It’s one of my favorites to read.
“It’s not everyday you get to tell someone ‘go fuck yourself’ and get arrested for it!” – Camryn’s secet thoughts.
“Roses are red, violets are blue, if he’s busy on Valentine’s Day, the sidechick is you.” – El Arroyo sign.
This is such a cute and sweet story. Camryn, Raleigh’s best friend, and Officer Flint Stone do not see eye to eye on anything. Flint is cocky and arrogant and knows how to push Camryn’s buttons. Sparks fly from almost the first meeting but they know they aren’t right for each other. Camryn ends up taking CrossFit with Flint as the instructor and that’s when it really blossoms from there. Flint finds out what Camryn’s problem is with him and it is not what he was expecting, but they conquer it together. When Flint gets terribly hurt Camryn steps up and is not away from her man for a minute. I can’t wait to see who was next to take the fall and the series!!
Yabba Dabba Do, This Book had me laughing so much at times I think people observing me thought I was losing the plot. Camryn Elvis Presley was hoping for a little less conversation from Flint Stone, especially the ones that had her all shook up. These two can’t help falling in love but with their past flings causing trouble at every turn, it might just be the devil in disguise that can steal it all away. Lord Have Mercy gives you burning love, an abundance of hilarious moments and two characters that will own your heart and soul. Another huge five star read that will tick all the boxes for a hot steamy action packed romance.
LORD HAVE MERCY For sure! OMG this is one of my favorites of Lani Lynn Vale’s most recent releases! It had everything I love from the humor, the steaminess (holy fire!) to the suspense with the evil plotter! Such a fun, interesting, and creative read! I devoured this while putting my kiddos to bed and I just could not get enough! This is couples goals right here! LOVED!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Poor judgement: knowing better but doing it anyway. Flint stone is a professional in every way. He’s a a police officer with the K-9 until and works at Gun Barrel High as the school resource officer in his spare time, he’s working his heart out to create a successful gym, from the ground up. He’s loved by every single person he ever encounters-student, faculity and employees – Everyone but Camryn Elvis Presley. The only thing they have in common is their mothers’ poor excuses for names. Period. The end. So why is it every time she crosses his path that he has the urge to mess up her perfectly curled hair? Or unbutton a few of her prim and proper buttons? He knows he should stay away et like the high schoolers he’s around every day, he has no choice but to react first and think about the consequences later. Side note — bad decisions are made, leading to lapses in judgement that threatens both of their jobs. Yet when the time comes neither one can seem to find the wherewithal to care. Why? Because being bad feels to good.
I loved this book so much. This is a enemies to lovers type romance only I don’t know that I would call Flint and Camryn enemies. They just appear not to like each other. Inside deep down though they are attracted to each other. Add in the crazy girl he spends time with who has to be out of the way for these two to become a thing. She is absolutely awful but added cringe worthy moments to the book. You know the kind. the one that thinks they are the one and they really aren’t but she is dead seat on keeping these two apart. Lucky for Camryn they all work together. However these two have such amazing chemistry. These two are amazing, just like this book. I fell so in love with Flint and Camryn. As always the heading of each chapter are always so amazing. I loved this book and devoured it. Lani Lynn Vale writes the most amazing books.
Another great book and series from Lani Lynn Vale – she never disappoints! While the first book in this series was introducing us to the world and characters, this second book is where we really dive into the storylines more of the specific characters. Flint and Camryn are the typical enemies-to-lovers type, where they are both so extremely attracted to each other that they act the complete opposite in front of each other. The bickering and sarcasm was and is one of my favorite aspects of her books and this one didn’t disappoint in that department. As always, the storyline provided a level of suspense in addition to the romance and it keeps you guessing until the literal end of the book! The flow of all Lani’s stories are great; they keep you captivated until the last word of the epilogue and leaves you wanting more in the sneak peak for the next book. I can safely say that I’ve read her books all in one sitting; I can’t ever stop once I start with one of her stories. One thing that sets this series apart from her other ones is that this one is not based around a MC, rather the staff at a school. It provides a level of difference from her previous series but the familiarity of her style of writing.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Lord have Mercy by Lani Lynn Vale
“the title says it all, 5 stars”
Camryn and Flint are like oil and water and yet they can’t stay away from each other. Will they be able to put down the jabs and insults and see one another for who they really are? There’s only one way to find out..
Lord have Mercy is literally the perfect title for this book. Vale has mastered the art of alpha men with strong women. Camryn doesn’t grow next to Flint, she flourishes. She wasn’t weak by any means but she knows pain and loss and Flint gives her what she really needs.
The secondary characters just added to the story. I was sucked in and didn’t put it down until the very last page. Lord have Mercy left me in the perfect mood after finishing and all I have to say is I cannot wait to see whose story comes next in this series.

This is Lani Lynn Vale’s 2nd book in this new Southern Gentleman series and I am hooked already.
Camryn Elvis Presley is a strong and sassy high school teacher. I totally adored her and was highly amused with her interactions with the hot AF School Resource Police Office Flint Stone. Even though they give the impression of disliking each other you can feel the sparks flying off these two with each interaction and you are waiting for the inevitable explosion.
I really enjoyed this story, the twist was slightly predictable but didn’t detract at all from my enjoyment
Cant wait to see what LLV brings us next in the series
Readers met Camryn Presley and Flint Stone, the hero and heroine in Lord Have Mercy, in Hissy Fit, the first book in Lani Lynn Vale’s latest series, The Southern Gentleman, and we could tell after one interaction that these two were either going to bite each other’s heads off or tear one another’s clothes off in order to work through the frustration and anger that consumes them when it comes to the other one. And while there’s still some animosity at the beginning of their own story, as it progresses, Lani Lynn Vale provides the necessary insight in order to see that it was never hatred that these two felt towards each other but a simmering lust and need that they couldn’t quite grasp because they were too used to giving each other shit and driving one another crazy.
Camryn’s a great heroine – one whose quirks, fears, and sass make her relatable to all readers. Her internal musings are definitely on point when it comes to the issues and emotions that she deals with regularly, and while she does tend to say and act without completely thinking things through, it’s almost like her truths are spoken when she doesn’t overthink and overanalyze every detail.
Flint comes off as a hardass in a lot of ways, but he’s also a good guy who loves helping kids and loves his job. Camryn is definitely a game changer for him, which is probably why he stayed away and acted put off by her words and her actions towards him. Maybe he wasn’t ready to feel everything that she would make him feel, but with only one kiss, there’s a clarity that both of them want to hold onto, and despite quite a few roadblocks and struggles that they have to deal with, they stand strong as partners and remain steadfast in their love for each other.
I will say that Flint’s ex, Nivea, is a point of contention for me. She’s a nasty, self-absorbed woman who acts more like a high school ‘mean girl’ than the teacher she is, and the fact that Flint hooked up with her because he couldn’t have the woman he wanted, which was Camryn, didn’t sit too well with me, especially with how quickly he went all-in with Camryn after ending things with Nivea who just so happens to be Camryn’s nemesis.
I wouldn’t really call Lord Have Mercy an enemies-to-lovers’ story because I don’t think Camryn and Flint truly hated one another; in fact, they seemed to desperately want each other and that’s what makes things between them complicated and tenuous until they hash out why they rubbed each other the wrong way and realized their angsty banter was more foreplay than anything else.
Lord Have Mercy is another great read from Lani Lynn Vale; its story line and characters develop and progress in a way that makes the novel entertaining, a bit suspenseful, and just as steamy as the rest.
4 Poison Apples
Five Lani Lynn stars! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
I think Lani Lynn Vale is getting better with every book she writes and this new series is a definite winner. Flint and Camryn are two hot to handle! What happens when these two throats come together with a kiss will it be the end or the beginning? The connection between these two is one you will not want to miss! He is all Southern Gentleman and she may not want what he has to offer. Lani Lynne Vale is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors!!!

The title pretty much says it all “LORD HAVE MERCY!”
This book was a hard one to put down!!! An absolute must read!!!
Lord Have Mercy! These sweet southern gentlemen have me swooning hard and falling hopelessly in love!
Y’all Flint Stone is H-O-T! A police officer and crossfit gym owner, he is incredibly loveable and I couldn’t get enough of him. He is great at his job and works hard to keep both his gym and the school running smoothly. He just cant understand why Camryn, the annoying teacher who he can’t seem eto get off his mind, doesn’t like him.
These two have chemistry that is off the charts. Even when they are arguing and at each others throats, the tension between them will have you fanning yourself! I loved seeing these two navigate their feelings and learn that what they thing might not be what is.
I can’t get enough of this series! And I can’t wait to see what Vale brings us next!
