Poor judgment: knowing better yet doing it anyway.Flint Stone is a professional in every way. He’s a police officer with the K-9 unit and works at Gun Barrel High as the school resource officer. In his spare time, he’s working his heart out to create a successful gym from the ground up.He’s loved by every single person he ever encounters—student, faculty, and employees—Everyone but Camryn Elvis … employees—Everyone but Camryn Elvis Presley.
The only thing they have in common is their mothers’ poor excuses for names.
Period. The end.
So why is it every time she crosses his path that he has the urge to mess up her perfectly curled hair? Or unbutton a few of her prim and proper buttons?
He knows he should stay away, yet like the high schoolers he’s around every day, he has no choice but to react first and think about the consequences later.
Side note—bad decisions are made, leading to lapses in judgment that threaten both of their jobs. Yet when the time comes, neither one can seem to find the wherewithal to care. Why? Because being bad feels so good.

I love how picking up a book by Lani Lynn Vale is always a guaranteed good read! Camryn is crushing hard on Flint Stone and honestly, what’s not to like? He’s hot, he’s a cop, he’s great with kids, he’s a generally nice guy… too bad he doesn’t know how to be nice to her. And his girlfriend just happens to be Camryn’s nemesis. But she can’t get him off of her mind. If only he felt the same way too.
Camryn gets on Flint’s nerves. She’s gotten under his skin and he can’t stop thinking about her. He wants her BADDDD!! Who knew grown men could have crushes? His girlfriend isn’t really his girlfriend and he’s about fed up with having her around. She was supposed to distract him from his want, but his desire has only grown deeper. And when he and Camryn finally realize that their feelings are reciprocated… BOOM!
Once we got past the enemies part, the lovers section took over and I loved how these characters loved each other. There was plenty to get them down or to make them doubt themselves, but nothing stopped them. Not the seemingly forbidden aspect of working and loving together. Not even the vindictiveness of Flint’s ex. Nothing and no one was going to mess with their love and that only made their story more powerful for me. Their happy ending wasn’t easy, but overcoming the pain only made it sweeter!
What I really like about LLV books is that her heroines are strong, resilient, and also quirky and funny. And Camryn fits this to a freaking tee!! She is so funny and snarky. What comes out of her character’s mouth had me laughing hard at times, and the way that her character was portrayed showed a large amount of strength and really had me liking her more than I have other heroines of her books.
And Flint … he really surprised me. I was expecting that there would be something about him that we didn’t get from his introduction in the first book, and I was totally right. He is very alpha, which is sexy as hell, but he has a warm center that really drew me in. And the way that he reacts is not always what I would have expected, but certainly showed a great characters that I really enjoyed.
Overall, great book with a great plot and awesome characters. I laughed at times and certainly felt animosity towards one character in the book. This character totally deserved a throat punch through this book and I was slightly disappointed that this didn’t happen :(. But, overall, I really enjoyed the story and the characters. So, two thumbs up from me and happy reading!!
This is Lani Lynn Vale’s 2nd book in this new Southern Gentleman series and if you haven’t started, why not? You won’t want to stop!
Lani Lynn Vale is the one author where I’ve started a few of her books out of order in a series like Lord Have Mercy. I had no idea this was book 2 in the Southern Gentleman series, but thankfully it’s a standalone, so you don’t have to read the previous book.
Flint and Camryn are an absolute riot! I seriously could not get enough of these two, not only their banter, but their inner turmoil about one another. I can’t say that I quite understood the loathing they had for each other in the beginning, when it was clearly attraction. But it just made their story much more memorable
Camryn’s thoughts on Crossfit were exactly mine. My brother owns a Crossfit gym and EVERRRYYYYYYYYY time I visit him, all his members love asking me when I’m going to join in. Answer: not anytime soon. I’m a huge supporter of it and absolutely love the community, but my goodness, it’s in a league of it’s own. ANYWAYS, back to the review, gym time between Cam and Flint were some of my favorite moments. It’s so damn comical!
Little by little, walls are coming down and Cam is finally seeing Flint differently. Flint definitely made a poor decision by shacking it up with a woman that’s bit on the clingy and crazy side just to push his feelings for Cam aside. Obviously it didn’t work and he got a whole lot more than he bargained for. She brings on the drama and I was not having any of it!
I loved every scene with these two especially how patient he was with helping Camryn work through her fear of dogs. Plus, I liked that she was willing to work through it, that was amazingly strong of her.
Lord Have Mercy is a romantic comedy , friends-to-lovers that I truly enjoyed! The laughs just kept on coming and then I was getting all doe-eyed watching these two fall in love so effortlessly. They had to jump over a lot of hurdles while trying to be together, but it was definitely worth in the end.
Bravo, LLV for such a funny, sweet and endearing read! I’ll be going back to book 1 of this series.

Lani Lynn Vale
Lord Have Mercy is the second book in Lani Lynn Vale’s new series, The Southern Gentleman, and I am in love with this new world she’s creating and the new characters she’s introduced readers to so far. A steamy enemies-to-lovers romance, rich with Vale’s laugh-out-loud sense of humor mingles perfectly with an interesting suspenseful arc in this story.
Camryn Elvis Presley was a bit of a departure from Vale’s typical heroine, and I adored her. A high school teacher, she was strong and didn’t hesitate to go toe-to-toe with the school’s resource police officer—her grudgingly secret crush—Flint Stone. The sparks flew between Flint and Camryn whenever they were together, and it isn’t long before their back-and-forth bickering turns into flirty banter. Flint, a good guy and as alpha as they come, moves quick to claim Camryn, who is just as adamant about claiming him.
I loved Camryn and Flint’s sweet and sexy romance, the push-and-pull of the chemistry between them and the suspenseful plot arc that kept me tapping my Kindle furiously. Five smooches from me for Lord Have Mercy by Lani Lynn Vale!

This was such a cute read. We get Camryn’s story she is best friends with Raleigh who was in Book one of this series. Camryn and Officer Flint Stone don’t see eye to eye but that is all a misunderstanding because she thinks he’s hot and he thinks she’s hot also. I loved how this story began with tension right off the bat and the two going back and forth bantering and getting to each other. Flint is actually seeing someone, Nivea, who is an awful person and annoying so he calls their non relationship quits early on. He’s been wanting to peruse Camryn for months even before Nivea but he was afraid she was terrified of him but when he finds out she isn’t he goes for it. Flint is an alpha but not over the top one and he is sweet, and protective. Camryn is cute I really enjoyed her because she would take up for herself, was funny, and down to the earth. Add in the mild drama and a few holy crap moments and this story was so good and I can’t for more in this series.

The second book in the Southern Gentleman series, and true to LLV fashion they just suck you in. This series is not intertwined with the previous ones, so this is the perfect time to jump into this series and get a taste of what LLV can do, if you haven’t already fallen in love with her stories that is. Camryn tries to keep her distance from Flint, between the fact that she doesn’t really care for him, his dog scares the bejeezus out of her, and that he always seems to annoy her are all good reasons. When Raleigh drags her to a CrossFit class that Flint just so happens to teach, Camryn is one step from leaving, until Flint goads her into staying. Flint knows exactly what he is doing, even though he shouldn’t be pushing every one of her buttons and thoroughly enjoying it. When Flint decides that enough is enough and he is tired of playing around, he makes his move. But will the outside obstacles make it harder?
I loved everything about Camryn and Flint’s story. This sucked me in and had some really good laugh out loud moments. Add in some super steamy bits and this became the amazing read it is. I give this 5 stars.

Officer Flint Stone (yes he’s really called that, lol) is hurt that Camryn seems pretty much afraid of him every time she sees him, not realising it’s actually his K-9 partner, Dooley, that she’s really afraid of after an incident when she was a teenager. High School teacher Camryn, joins the gym with her bestie, Raleigh (from book one), the gym that the hottie school resource officer at her school owns, and she can’t believe it when he actually acts nicely towards her. Flint is sick of waiting, he wants Camryn and is determined to find out what scares her about him so he can deal with the issue and make her his. There are just a few obstacles in his way, say for instance a crazy obsessive ex who hates Camryn, Camryn’s issues with his dog and oh, you know, the fact someone has it out for him.
Yet again LLV has given us another great read that grabs you and doesn’t let you go until you’re finished. I can’t wait for the next one and give Lord Have Mercy 5 stars.
5 Star Review Lord Have Mercy (The Southern Gentlemen #2) by Lani Lynn Vale
Well this may well be my favourite from Lani Lynn Vale to date. I fell hard and fast for Flint Stone (just his name made me swoon), he ticked so many boxes that it was hard not too.
A police officer with the K-9 unit, he and his partner Dooley also work at Gun Barrel High as the school resource office whilst trying to build a gym from the ground up. He is popular with everyone except chemistry teacher Camryn Elvis Presley (again I love the name, although that could be because I am a huge Elvis Presley fan).
This is a great example of romantic comedy and I found myself absolutely drawn in to Flint and Camryn’s story. The writing was strong and kept me engaged from the first to the last page. The chemistry between Flint and Camryn was off the charts and smoking hot as these enemies turn to lovers.
I loved how feisty Camryn was, not afraid to stand her ground and she is someone I would be happy to call friend.
This book was well written with characters that kept me entertained and at times was an emotional roller coaster of a read with humour, angst, some danger and a little sadness but love and romance win out. The twists and turns had me guessing right up to the end and all in all this was an entertaining read.
I am excited to see where this series goes next.
I was hooked from the first page! With book two in her Southern Gentleman series Lani Lynn Vale delights once again with K-9 cop Flint and teacher Camryn. LORD HAVE MERCY takes us for a passionate ride as these enemies turned lovers steam up the pages and bring intrigue to life. I loved their story!
Camryn will be familiar to anyone who read Raleigh and Ezra’s story because she is a coworker/friend of theirs. She’s sweet and a delight to most she meets, but there’s just something about Flint that sets her nerves on fire.
Flint is sexy and commanding and dearly loves to push Camryn’s buttons to see how riled up he can make her.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to romance fans that love a group of friends and colleagues that make each day better by having a good time, being supportive of each other and letting themselves fall in love.
Lord Have Mercy
Flint and Camryn fights like cats and dogs, they can’t stand each other and don’t like being in each other’s space. But you do know what they say “there’s a thin line between love and hate” with the sexual tension between, I’d there a wonder they’re crazy for one another
Flint and Camryn together are just a hoot. I laughed so much in this book that I was crying . These two started off secretly liking one another and not being able to get along which was comical. It was great to read how they clicked together one day.
You should definitely go read this book and all the other books by this author. They all are amazing
Lord Have Mercy…
That was definitely a fitting title for the second book in The Southern Gentleman series. I actually found myself saying ‘Lord Have Mercy’, quite a few times while reading this one. These were character’s that you couldn’t help but like and know they have an attraction to each other. But, of course they just won’t act on their attraction. One reason being that Flint, kind-a-sort-a had a girlfriend. Then one day he finally got to his breaking point with the annoying sort-s girlfriend. So once things were over with her, it was game on for him to finally get Camryn. Camryn was finally able to face one of her personal fears when she gets into a relationship with Flint. Even when there was certain people that was out to hurt Flint, that just helped these two to grow closer together.
This book is the perfect combination of humorous moments with serious moments. Vale has this way of writing a story with just the right balance. And I am looking forward to the next book in this series, or a new one from Vale period.
Just the steamy, tension-filled kind of romance I was looking for. Flint is my kind of hero!
Flirty, quirky and fun.. I can always find my way with Lani’s book. If you fancy smut and light reading material.. she is your girl.. Flint and Camryn both werent fond with each other.. Their banter was cute, hot and flirty..
The jokes and laugher was memorable 🙂
Camryn Elvis Presley doesn’t know what she did to have Officer Flint Stone hate her but she knows he does and even though she finds him incredibly attractive, against her better judgement, she is determined not to find out.
Flint wants Camryn, he wants her like he has never wanted anyone else. However she hates his dog who is an important part of his job as a K-9 Police Officer. When he finds out there is a story behind Camryn’s reaction to his dog, everything changes and he is determined to make her his. Throw in a crazy ex you have the makings of another fantastic read from Lani Lynn Vale.
Loved this, Flint is an instant hero favorite and I thought Camryn was a hoot. Everything about this book was delightful. Once you pick it up scratch off your to do list for the day because you will be settling in and reading until the story is done.
OMG Lord Have Mercy is legit the reason why Lani Lynn Vale’s stories are an automatic oneclick for me. It was quirky and funny and full of the sass and spitfire I’ve come to expect from this author’s stories. Flint and Camryn were so sexy and funny that I never wanted it to end.
Flint Stone and Camryn Presley have an acrimonious relationship. Always arguing and at each other’s throats, they had no idea that all it would take is one kiss for them to give in to their passion and then the whole world would combust. I loved this story so much. Flint and Camryn were so great together. Their connection felt real and their feelings for each other felt genuine and heartfelt. This was another delicious addition to this author’s Southern Gentleman series. Bravo! 5 stars!
Another fantastic book by Lani Lynn Vale. This was an entertaining, enjoyable ride to go on with Flint and Camryn. They were enemies, with hidden feelings for one another, the banter between them was hilarious. Their connection and chemistry was undeniable. This story just proved that when you love someone you can overcome anything with their guidance and you will do all you can to help make things so much brighter for each other. I truly enjoyed this book.
I am so loving this series. But I honestly can’t wait for Slates book. The first chapter of teaser at the end of this book has me so intrigued. I love the Lani book world. Highly recommend you start at the beginning of you like her books.
Well, the title sure fits here, my fellow romance book loving friends. Just like I had hoped after reading the opening teaser chapter at the end of book 1, Hissy Fit. The sparks sure flew every time Camryn and Flint faced off in this enemies to lovers, smexy romantic read. Lucky for us and them love let loose, as well.
Flint seemed to be the first to realize his frustration whenever he came around Camryn was actually something else entirely. Camryn, likewise, started to come to the same conclusion. That fine line between love and hate that seemed to be drawn in the sand between them got washed away by a tidal wave of lust, longing, and ultimately love.
You’ll get to see these two destined to be together, knucklehead love birds take off their blinders and finally see and feel what true love can be.
Beyond these few comments, my lips are sealed, folks. Just know you had better grab a fan and something cold to drink when you cuddle up with this very graphically steamy, romantic tale. As usual, this author heats up the pages and gives me a couple I’m glad to see get their HEA.
Title: Lord Have Mercy, Series: The Southern Gentleman (Book 2), Author: Lani Lynn Vale, Pages: 224, stand-alone but part of a series, some VERY graphic steamy/smexy scenes with lusty language, good guy hero, sassy yet sweet heroine, animosity turns to love, won’t give up ex tries to cause problems,
Book 1 – Hissy Fit (Ezra and Raleigh)
Book 2 – Lord Have Mercy (Camryn & Flint)

I enjoyed this one! Camryn & Flint have been into each other for a while, but it took them a bit to really admit it to themselves & each other. This was mostly a fun, bantery read with a bit of a conflict involving exes. : )
