Simon and Vic were pretty much perfect in this book. I loved that they both consciously chose to place their trust in each other, time and time again, as others kept trying to tear them apart. I’m not sure if it’s such a good idea for Simon to be quite as close to Dante as he’s getting, but I’m excited to see where that will go.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Loose Ends is a great addition to the Badlands series. Vic and Simon are an established couple. They are incredible together and complement each other perfectly. It’s fun to see them in spurts of domestic normalcy between rounds of ghostly and earthly peril. In this story, both are dealing with problems from their past. We get to see Vic’s family and hear from Simon’s mom. The difference in the two families is pronounced. Loose Ends is a quick and exciting read. As with all of her books I’ve read so far, Morgan Brice reels you in right away and keeps the action going until the end. I read this one in pretty much one sitting. I highly recommend this book and series.of
Wow! What a roller-coaster of a ride! Action, intensity, intrigue, magic, evil and so much more. I really love the combination of the psychic medium and homicide detectives working together. The whole witch community is pretty awesome too. I am so enjoying how their relationship continues to grow and we learn more about our favorite dual.
Vic and Simon are combustible with amazing connection and just the best care of love for each other. I really enjoy this couple and am so glad that we got this new story. They have been together for a while now, but each story feels fresh and leaves me wanting more.
This is book four of the Badlands series and really should be read in order to fully appreciate the characters and the plot. Each of these books are amazing and well worth the reading!
I was gifted this book from the LesCourt Author Services and i freely give my honest opinion and review.
What an interesting story! While still working with their relationship Vic D’Amato and Simon Kinkaid had to face more than one threat that were targeting both. But with ghosts as allies and friends skilled in the Paranormal ways they had a team to work and help them. The plot development was intriguing and suspenseful with the detailed narrations and description that kept me following the action and enjoying the mystery surrounding the threat. We get to know more about their past relationships and reconnect with friends from other stories. Interesting and amusing how Vic were feeling insecure with his decision. Liked Ross character and the camaraderie between them. Action, magic, mystery, doubts, violence, family drama, tender and emotional scenes, romance and heated passion.
Gripping, edge of your seat action and drama reeled me in from the first page and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Simon and Vic are back, ready to move on with their relationship so of course problems arise to gum up the works.
Can you say Murphy’s Law?
Of course, they don’t let those types of things deter them and come out stronger on the other side.
Loose Ends is another fantastic book in the Badlands series. Readers get to enjoy stories of past loves and betrayals as Simon deals with the ghost problems around Myrtle Beach. But along with haunts and ghosts and premonitions, we get to see Simon and Vic grow as people. We learn some more about their parents and about their past relationships and how that has shaped who they are and how they feel about love and each other. It is also heartwarming how much their friends and colleagues support them for just being who they are. I have enjoyed all of the books in the Badlands series and this book does not disappoint. 5 stars!! (I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review)
Another wonderful chapter in lives of psychic medium Simon and his detective boyfriend Vic. Told from dual POVs we get to see both men settled into living together and maybe planning something more. The story is fast-paced, suspenseful with a touch of mystery, mystical with a whole lot of magic and moderately angsty but with so much love and care! Loved getting reacquainted with Myrtle Beach and its quirky residents.
I like Simon and Vic as a couple. They are so caring, so supportive of each other especially in times of adversity – a true team ready to fight be it human or a ghost! This time both men find themselves at the mercy of people they thought they loved in the past who came to ruin their future. I enjoyed the situations they found themselves in – the anger, the indignation and all the issues they caused!
I loved the magical aspect of the book. Simon has surrounded himself with a close circle of friends who will stand by him and come to his aid should he ever need them. I love the diverse cast of this series – the snarky, the edgy and the mysterious friends he has. Awesome story that kept me on edge till the end! One of the best psychic/detective pairings I have ever read. Copy received for my honest and unbiased review
As a huge fan of this series, (I’d been following Simon and Vic’s adventures since book 1), when I received this book as an ARC I was so happy… I don’t know where to begin, this series has 3 main elements that made all the books so good. First of all is the amazing paranormal aspect and in every book we learned a little bit more about the extension of Simon powers; Morgan Brice is brilliant in building a world so credible and natural, that you expected Simon intromission in everything paranormal while witnessing how he is so comfortable with his powers and how this confidence helped all the people around him especially Vic, had confidence in him too. It is great watch that after the initial doubts Vic felt more relaxed around all the supernatural situations happening. The second element is the police and detective related. The plot on this book 4 is interesting and well written taking you step by step in the mystery until the astonishing resolution. The author got me at the edge of the book since the beginning because I needed to know what will happen and you can name this anyway you want, action-packed, page-turner, but it was so good that I started reading it again to be sure I didn’t loose anything. The final element is the romantic aspect of the story and after watching how the relationship evolved to love and more, to avoid spoilers I am just telling you…. OMG. If you are new to this wonderful series I recommend you to start in book 1, to fully enjoy this treat that Ms Brice brought to us. The best in the series so far… Loved it!!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
We are back with Simon and Vic. Both of their pasts come to haunt them in this book. Both Simon and Vic fight for each other and what they have while trying to fight what wants to break them up. Simon’s family is a piece of work. Vic’s family is awesome. You can read this as a stand alone but this series is great and you should read the other books too.
*I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
Loose Ends! What an appropriate title to this Badlands series novel! In addition to the work Simon does putting the dead to rest, preventing malevolent spirits from being a danger to both living and dead, he provides emotional support to homicide detective Vic D’Amato as he is being personally and professionally attacked. But all is not a bed of roses for Simon, either. His mother, in her bid to see him ‘living optimally’, has encouraged his ex-fiancé to pursue a reconciliation that will benefit both professionally, academically, and financially. When contacts in Pittsburg tell him about the escape of his ex-lover/ex-partner, Vic and his associates at the Myrtle Beach Police Department realize who it is that is responsible for all of his current troubles. Vic also understands that Simon is in real danger as the ex has threatened to destroy all that he loves.
Unfortunately for Simon’s ex, he gets captured by Vic’s ex who mistakes one man for the other. A spirit gleeful of the ex’s coming demise lead tells Simon how the ex destroyed him professionally in order to advance at the university. When the ex is rescued and lying in the hospital, Simon confronts him with what he knows. It isn’t likely that Simon’s ex will bother him again in hopes that Simon will keep secret what he has learned.
Once again readers experience a superb story that results from an incredible premise with outstanding world-building and great character development. In addition, the story flows well as the writer is meticulous with the pacing and balance in the narrative. As this series is becoming more outstanding with the addition of each sequel, readers can’t help but clamor for the next novel. I’m anxious to see what Morgan Brice has in store for her audience!
Loose Ends by Morgan Brice is the fourth book in the Badlands series. Another ghostly adventure mystery to figure out for Vic and Simon. A little it fun, a bunch of suspense, and alot of love. I absolutely love this series and this story just cemented my addiction.
This is such a good series! I love the way Vic and Simon’s relationship continues to grow stronger with hardly any major conflicts.
Loose Ends is such an apt title – people and issues from both MCs past come to the forefront, especially for Vic. There are chills and things that go bump in the night as well as a solid romance and friendships; all elements to make a great story within an excellent series.
As long as Morgan Brice continues to write these characters, I will continue to read their stories 🙂
*Audio review*
The more I listen to Kale Williams, the more I think that he’s great for the series! He has a way of making you feel that you’re in the middle of the story. This is particularly effective when it gets to the supernatural parts …and the intimate times. I really enjoyed revisiting Simon and Vic and the ghosts of Myrtle Beach!
Vic and Simon are Back! (an audio review)
Simon is a psychic medium who sees ghosts. He communicates with ghosts. He helps them pass to the other side. He clears haunted places of their resident spirits so the location can be given back to the living. Vic is a cop. Rational, logical, and also happens to believe in spirits. He lost his career because of this, and he now believes his boyfriend. His boyfriend who has become a civilian consultant for the Myrtle Beach police department.
This time Vic is the target. Someone from his past is out to get him. This coincides with someone from Simon’s past turning back up to wreak havoc in his life. So yeah, a lot going on. Plus ghosts. Lots and lots of ghosts.
Personally, I’m not a huge believer, but these books are just plain fun. I really like Simon and Vic’s dynamic. It just works. The chemistry is there, but so is the love. A love that transcends even the chaos they have to endure to get their man.
Finally, I’ll talk about Kale Williams. I really enjoy his narrations and he suits this series perfectly. I suspect there are more books to come and I’ll be snapping them up.

Storyline
Another ghost-laden and exciting adventure featuring Simon, an authentic medium, and his tough-as-nails cop boyfriend, Vic. I have loved all of the books in this series but this one is now my absolute favorite. Even though this can be read as a stand-alone, I strongly encourage you to read the others as the growth in their relationship evolves over time and really adds to the enjoyment of the story. Simon and Vic are one of my favorite couples, as their connection and chemistry are so potent. I simply adore them.
Myrtle Beach appears to be a central hub for major paranormal activity, so Simon is definitely in his element. His life is finally on the right track. He owns a thriving business, the Grand Strand Ghost Tours, and the former college professor is thrilled with the direction his life has taken. He has an amazing partner in Vic, as his boyfriend not only believes in his ability but completely supports him.
However, all is not perfect for long. Vic’s luck seems to be challenged as odd things start to happen to him. A near miss on his motorcycle and someone hacking into his credit give him cause to worry. As the story progresses, so do the strange and damaging events to Vic. Between the ghosts, both good and bad, along with the escalating sabotage to poor, harassed Vic, I was unable to put the novel down. Ghosts, spells, twisted revenge, and former lovers, with warped motives, bring chaos to the happy life these two men have forged. Vic can steal your heart, but oh the feels I have for Simon! Academia has never been so sexy. I cannot wait for the next riveting installment!
Audio
Narrator: Mr. Kale Williams
Kale is a master at narration. I was easily transported to Myrtle Beach with this perfect adaptation of Ms. Brices’ work. The deep sexy rumble of Vic was perfection. The changeover from Vic to Simon never left me guessing who was speaking. The narrator flawlessly handled the differences in their tones. There was a wide variety of individuals in this audio, and Mr. Williams handled all the numerous characters and scenes wonderfully. The uncomfortable meeting with classic rock cutie was one of my favorites, and I will let you enjoy this without any spoilers. Ghost, cops, and mediums, oh my! Mr. Williams nailed every different one and made this audio such an immense treat. I highly recommend this wonderful production, and enthusiastically urge you to give it a try. Happy listening!
This is a great little supernatural mystery. There’s lots of ghosts, spells, magic , story’s that get you in the feels, some in the chills. If you like established characters, twists and turns, on going storylines, and super sexy stories this is for you! The narrator did an excellent job keeping you engaged in the story.
This was fantastic!! Simon is a psychic medium who helps ghosts rest. Vic is his police detective boyfriend. Vic’s past has come back and put a deadly target on both their back. Such a good story kept me glued to it!!
Loose Ends is the third book in the Badlands series, a paranormal, high-action/mystery series with a wonderful romance. This book can be read as a standalone quite easily – I have not read any other books in the Badlands series – but I wished I had started from the beginning because these characters are so fascinating and richly crafted.
Simon and Vic are an established couple who are no strangers to danger and the paranormal. When old enemies from the past start to appear, Simon and Vic will have to work together to survive being targeted. I really, really, really liked the worldbuilding and character development within this book. The paranormal world the author described within her book was diverse and fascinating, and it fit perfectly within the law enforcement and mystery aspect of the plot. Plus, the romance and love between Simon and Vic was absolutely lovely.
Kale Williams narrated this audiobook and did a great job. Kale’s character voices was perfect and he really put a lot of energy and emotion into the performance of this book. The audiobook production was well done and overall this was an extremely enjoyable listening experience.
This next book in the Badlands series has old chickens coming home to roost…or just be a pain in the you know what.
Vic and Simon are living together and enjoying their relationship, lives and careers. But of course, things can’t continue to go smoothly and suddenly there are strange happenings, calls from home, Simon’s ex… everything centering around a theme of relationships. I really enjoyed the way the author did that.
There’s the usual gamut of emotions and some really strong urges to throat punch several people. There’s the regular secondary characters and the cameos by the author’s characters from other series. I truly love that device, these interconnected worlds, and I’ve discovered some great books as a result.
The story arc is well paced and keeps the reader guessing. There’s a feeling of foreboding and the tension gradually ratchets up to the explosive crisis moment. It’s a great read and despite this being book four in the series we still get more character development and learn more about the MCs. Highly recommend.
4.5 out of 5 stars
“Loose Ends” by Morgan Brice continues to detail the adventures of Simon Kincaide, who is getting more comfortable in using his psychic powers, and his boyfriend, Detective Vic D’Amato, who has become a believer and ardent supporter of Simon. There are restless spirits centering around a cursed amusement park, Vic is also having a string of negative experiences, and each has to deal with an unwelcome visitor from his past. Tensions and danger mount and the question arises…will there be two (or more) new ghosts haunting Myrtle Beach?
I have always been fascinated by the idea of having psychic powers, and I enjoy reading about the men who populate this series and the connecting ones written under the Gail Z. Martin name. The details are rich enough that I almost feel like I have visited the city and gotten its ambience, and the affection and loyalty that the main characters share make me wish I could know them in real life. Now, I have always been uncomfortable with the idea of ghosts and interacting with them, so I could never display the panache that Simon has, but I am enthralled by his adventures.
The title was very apropos, since there are several loose ends that are dealt with, and the combination of danger, passion, romance, and family connections make this one of my favorites of the series. I have had the fortune to have read many of the books of the series, but I think it would be possible to read this story as a stand-alone without being too lost. I love the connection between these two men, and I look forward to reading about more of their adventures.

This series is one of my favourites by this author. I love the MCs and their relationship, and how Simon’s abilities play a part in the plot. The final scene in this story was very satisfying, and I loved that they both want the same thing, yet are nervous about telling the other.
The more I find out about Simon’s past, his ex, and his mother, the more I’m happy he’s made a new life with Vic. Neither Jacen nor Simon’s mother are very nice, and both are driven by their own selfish agendas. They deserve each other.
I liked how this story was very much about the past catching up with the present, not just with Simon and Vic, but also the ghosts Simon helps to pass over. I enjoyed the action scenes and the final showdown—I read this story over two very late nights as I couldn’t put it down. The author is great at building tension, and I love how defeating the bad guys is very much a group affair with everyone playing their part to support the person who takes on the threat more directly. One of the things I love about this series it’s not just about Simon helping ghosts to pass over, but that they come to his aid when he needs them too.
The supporting cast rocks. I love Simon’s skeleton crew, and the more I see of Vic’s family the more I love them too. I like how Hargreaves and Ross are growing more accepting of Simon’s abilities, too, and have both his and Vic’s backs. I also hope we see more of Luis in future stories. I’m loving how Dante is working with Simon. I like him.
I’m already hanging out for the next book in the series.
