He’s, like, literally the worst.
Oakley Davis is the star running back at our university—and the reason I’ve broken my vow to avoid the college party scene. Thanks to a mix-up with my advisor, I’m now serving my Public Relations internship as a glorified babysitter to the party-hard football players.
Specifically, Oakley.
He’s impossible to manage. His Instagram is full of pictures of him … Instagram is full of pictures of him half-naked and drunk, and he’d rather attend parties than practice. His brand needs some serious work, and when he’s not driving me insane, he’s sleeping his way through the entire female population.
But I’m determined. I have plans to graduate a semester early, and nothing or no one will get in my way. I’m a Virgo, after all. Oakley Davis might be a privileged, cocky football star, but I’m Amanda Matthews, and I’ll do whatever it takes to get my A.
I just have to make sure I don’t end up falling in love with the idiot, first.

Oh my gosh…this is an addicting read!!! I spent another late night finishing another great book! Not only was it a fantastic romance full of chemistry and swoonworthy moments, it was also a story about second chances and learning from your mistakes.
“We can’t give our mistakes all our energy forever.” ~Amanda’s mother~
Amanda has worked hard the past year to make changes to her life, and she is determined to get her A, her internship, and finish college early. Too bad the internship she was hoping for fell through and now she is stuck with Oakley Davis, the running back for the football team and a local celebrity. He is also trouble with a capital “T.” It will take everything she has to clean up his image.
Oakley was a man you noticed whenever you walked into the room. He commanded it.
“It wasn’t his signature dark hair or the way he towered over everyone else that made him stand out–though his classically handsome appearance helped–it was his very essence, his energy. He had this carefree power about him that was intoxicating to watch.” ~Amanda~
Despite the charisma and good looks, he also had a huge ego. The way girls fell all over him just fanned that flame. Amanda is determined not to fall under his spell, despite the butterflies he gives her. She has a job to do, and she plans on doing it! As she gets to know a softer side to him, her job becomes even harder. In addition to his sex appeal and sense of humor, she discovers he is also an expert flower arranger….who in the world could resist that?????
When Oakley first sees Amanda, he isn’t impressed, especially when she takes over all of his social media accounts. He sees her as uptight with no idea of what fun is! The way he pushes her buttons had me laughing hysterically!!! She realizes that there is more to Oakley than meets the eye, and he realizes she does have a heart beating in that uptight body. I enjoyed watching them become friends as they fell in love with each other.
Both of them have made mistakes in their past, and each is doing what they can to learn from it and move forward. Oakley showed Amanda that she is a worthy person, beautiful both inside and out, and he helped her find self-confidence in herself. He also helped her relax and find the fun in life again. In turn, she showed him that she loved him because of who he was as a person, not the star football player. It was one of those books that just made me sigh in delight when I finished the last page.
These two writers are new to me, and I am so glad I discovered them. I can’t wait to read more from the both of them.
3.5 Stars
I am not a huge fan of romcom books, I don’t know why but I almost always find it hard to get into the story. I decided to give this book a try since I am a fan of Coralee’s other books. Now, while I am still not a fan of romcoms, I did enjoy this story overall. There were parts that annoyed me (like the overuse of “oh my lanta” or sayings like that) but I was able to get over them and actually wanted to see what happened. Minus the parts that I thought were trying a little too hard to be funny, I did like the writing and overall story. I thought the characters were great, I felt like both Amanda and Oakley had qualities that people would be able to identify well with. But I did feel like they acted childish instead of “funny” at times. I also enjoyed Amanda’s hippy roommate and did find her funny.
All in all, while this was not the book for me, I do think that this would be a great read for romcom fans. And I still intend to read books from both authors.
4 Problem & Solver Stars!!
Being new to Ms.June and Ms.Gray’s work I couldn’t wait to pick this one up! The synopsis grabbed my attention really quickly and so did this story! Once I started it I had to finish reading it in one sitting. I really enjoyed this story!
Amanda and Oakley’s journey was quite the entertaining one! I really liked how they were brought into each other’s lives and getting to see different sides to both of them. I related to Amanda a lot.
I adored Amanda and Oakley. I wanted to hug them through my kindle! Their story had me cracking up, smiling, blushing, and feeling it all throughout!
With Looking To Score, Ms.June and Ms.Gray created such an awesome read! I can’t wait to read more of their work in the future!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the authors*
I laughed, I cried (from laughing), added new words to my vocabulary, and read it again.
Oakley and Amanda really picked me up in such a depressing time. Their banter is so on point, and the fact it’s used as their foreplay is even better. I love that the authors used humor to help these two get through hard times.
Carrie and Coralee are my new favorite powerhouse romcom authors. We need a new book like yesterday!
This was such a cute sports romance The Chemisty between Oakley and Amanda was perfect! Oakley is swoon worthy!!! Such a good fun read.
Absolutely loved this story! It was funny, hot and little bit heartbreaking in places.
“The pheromones this asshole was giving off were f*cking with my ability to form coherent words and make good choices.”
Amanda Matthews has moved colleges to get away from scandal. She’s turned her life around and plans to put her head down, work hard and graduate early. Doing an internship is a requirement, however, it turns out to be something wholly unexpected and challenging to say the least!
“You should really let me taste you.”
Oakley Davis is a Problem. He is incredibly talented but doesn’t seem to care about his reputation or his future. Amanda explodes into his life, taking over his social media accounts, and generally whipping him into shape, whether he likes it or not. However, as time goes on, all the dislike and aggravation turns into something more as they find their footing and learn more about each other.
“You came into my life like a whirlwind and changed everything up. For the better.”
This story was funny! Amanda is sassy, confident, and a hardass! LOL I loved her capable manner, her work ethic, and her attitude and determination to get Oakley to toe the line. I admired her fortitude considering everything she had been through. She had some fantastic lines in the story – her threats were the best! LOL. Oakley starts off as a pain in the butt but he toed the line quickly enough. He obviously had issues of some kind and but I found him pretty lovable and he loved to tease Amanda. This story was told solely from the female POV and I loved that through Oakley’s actions, it showed the reader that he was thoughtful and caring underneath his devilish façade. The air between the two of them was tense and electric! I loved Oakley’s playfulness and how he kept coaxing Amanda to get out of her head and enjoy the moment. What a fab, fun read!
If you’re looking for a fun sports romance this is the one you’re looking for! I loved this book.
Oakley is a popular football player who’s a bit of a mess. Partying, half naked photos, constantly surrounded by women, he’s not as focused as he should be which leads us to Amanda. Amanda, bless her heart, gets stuck babysitting Oakley when she’s given him and his image as her assignment. I loved Amanda. She’s really easy to like and really funny. The banter between her and Oakley only made me love her more.
This is a really enjoyable read. The characters, the chemistry, the banter are all well done and I definitely recommend this book.
Before I start, I just want to take a moment to appreciate the choice that the authors made with the cover. If I was rating it on that alone then 5 stars, no doubt.
However, I’m not doing that. I will say however that I did really enjoy this. It was funny and I did swoon quite a bit. The chemistry was definitely 10/10 and honestly Oakley might make my book boyfriend list. Who doesn’t love a dirty talking jock?? And Amanda was one of the funniest heroine’s I’ve read about in a long time
I’ve been reading quite a few Rom-Com’s lately and this for sure is high up the list overall.
I couldn’t put it down and needed to know how it was going to end.
**I received an ARC of this and would like to thank the authors and Wildfire Marketing for the opportunity to review this. My review is unbiased and my opinion is my own.**
Hahahaha! Those euphemisms though… hilarious.
This book was such a fun read.

Audio review:
Haha I forgot how funny this book was! Amy did a fabulous job with the narration. My only “dislike” is that there wasn’t really much difference between the male and female characters- but it was VERY minor- the emotion and levity she put into her reading was awesome.
Score!!! Looking To Score was Amazeballs! Gray and June Killed it with this Book! I loved it so hard! It’s new and refreshing, a feelgood read that is perfect to escape all the craziness in our world today! It’s laugh-out-loud hilarious and I really mean it will have you involuntarily bursting with laughter throughout this book! It’s truly the best rom-com I’ve ever read! It’s ridiculously Sexy and heartfelt! So get ready for Oakley to melt your heart and your panties! Gosh, what a fantastic read! He’s the Problem and she’s the Solver! I was so unprepared for this book, it’s so much more than anything I was expecting. The storyline was interesting and addictive! It grips you and you fall so hard for these characters. I consumed this book in a few hours, unable to put it down. I loved all the characters! Shelby, Amanda’s ani-clothes roommate was too funny! But the best was Ms. Matthews, Amanda’s mother, she was a hoot! I floved her! This book was so easy to read and had a very relatable feel. Looking to Score was more than a fun read, it’s more than a sports romance, it’s so special! I’m crossing my fingers this author duo isn’t done with us yet! I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this read. Playboy Oakley and reformed character Amanda an unlikely pairing that actually works. The sarcastic banter and sexual chemistry is wrote brilliantly. I loved how Amanda whipped him into shape.
Looking To Score by Coralee June and Carrie Grey was a laugh out loud, feel good romance that leaves you feeling satisfied. Reading this book was like a breathe of fresh air, I don’t read a lot of rom-coms but this book was everything I needed without even realizing it. I devoured Oakley and Amanda’s story, I stayed up all night reading it because it was impossible to put down. Amanda and Oakley’s chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS. The banter in this book was hilarious. And the characters were relatable, funny, and unforgettable. Amanda is probably one of my favorite female characters ever, I connected with her character on so many levels. She is funny, unique, witty, STRONG and I admired the way she handled herself and Oakley. My man Oakley, DAMN that boy was sexy, funny, frustrating, and downright drool worthy. I’m swooning just writing this review and thinking about him. This is a MUST READ book! Trust me you need this book in your life, you will not regret it.
To say that Amanda and Oakley’s first meeting did not go well is an understatement. She’s his new publicist, having been tasked to clean up his image for her internship. Oakley’s first thought is the girl is out of her mind crazy, and trying to drive him batty. Which she does, handily. But not just because she invades his privacy, bosses him around, but because she’s different from all the other women who orbit around him. She doesn’t care that he’s the hot jock, she just wants to keep him from ruining his image further, so it will help her graduate early. All her resistance to his charm is intriguing. Now he just has to figure out how to get her to see past his image and fall for him the way he’s fallen for her.
Well, I really didn’t expect this story to be more than the usual New Adult. Oh sure, its got the same New Adult themes – hot, cocky hero being brought to his knees by the sassy heroine, but it’s also more. There are themes in here that aren’t always present in New Adult – body image issues, issues of bullying, issues of acceptance and rejection. Weighty issues that are dealt with in a firm but not overbearing manner, and it added depth to what could have been fluff. Yes, this is a rom-com, and parts of it (mainly Amanda and her insanely witty, snarky dialogue) are literally laugh out loud funny, but it’s also got substance to go along with the sexual tension and the smokin chemistry. I loved these two together and can’t wait to read more from this writing duo.
What an awesome story from the minute I started reading I couldn’t stop. It was just what I needed with everything going on in the world today. It definitely brought a smile and plenty of laughs throughout the whole book. I’ve been a fan of Coralee for a long time now so I I knew I would enjoy it but the first book from Carrie Gray that I have read but let me tell you being that this is her first book she did an awesome job. If you are looking for something different something fun right off the wall funny and this is the book for you. I hope that these two right together in the future because they are definitely a good writing Duo.
This was fun to read. Amanda has her hands full with Oakley and the banter and the back and forth made this story worthwhile. Oakley frustrated me at times but you get to see his reasons for his behavior as the story goes on. Truly enjoyed it!
This was so adorable. Sports isn’t usually my jam. Comedy really isn’t my jam either. But when June drops a new book, I’m standing with my hand out so fast it isn’t even funny.
The tale of Amanda & Oakley isn’t easy, or fast, but the ride is worth it.
Our heroine is exactly what June frequently gives us. Quirky, but not overly so. Sweet. Feisty. Our girl takes no crap and apologizes to no one for it.
I saw touches of myself in the heroine. Her struggles & mine were so alike. (Except that one thing. I didn’t do that.)
I LOVED our hero. A big jerk, an even bigger dummy, but underneath it all? I mean, still a big dummy. But I cheered for him, and that almost never happens.
This is my first taste of Gray’s work, but I’ll be looking into more for sure.
Loved Oakley & Amanda. These two definitely did not start off in the right foot but when pushed together the banter is off the charts, the chemistry is HOT, and the when they get together it is magnetic!!! There is so much raw emotion poured into these pages. The way Oakley yearns to protect Amanda made me SWOON so HARD!!! That ending was BEAUTIFUL!
This was such a fun and entertaining read. From beginning to end I enjoyed every moment I spent reading it!
In order to graduate early Amanda needs to complete her internship as a publicist. When things don’t go the way she planned she ends up being a new publicst for Oakley Davis, football team’s star player, or in other words his babysitter. Oakley doesn’t seem to care about going pro and he definitely doesn’t care about his image. He is every publicist nightmare. He is partying all the time, posting inappropriate pictures on his social media, and it doesn’t look like he is planning to change any time soon but Amanda is really determined to succeed. From the very start, from the moment they met, these two were adorable and hilarious. I loved how feisty and smart Amanda is. I adored Oakley and how funny, sometimes cocky and goofy he is.
I really liked Amanda’s parents, specially her mother. She was kinda crazy and made this book more special for me.
I loved the writing style and that you can’t tell that this book was written by two different authors. I just wished we had got Oakley’s POV too.
Brilliant read!!
This book is one of those ones that you didn’t realise you needed it in your life until you become sucked into it and loose all sense of time! It’s the perfect romcom that will have you laughing out loud with tears in your eyes and having to fan yourself! Amanda’s internal thoughts crack me up, let alone what she actually says out loud but pair her with Oakley and you have gold!
This book will make you laugh, get hot under the collar and have you swooning!!
A MUST READ!!!
There is nothing like trying not to wake your husband at 2 o’clock in the morning while giggling uncontrollably at the book you just couldn’t put down! I absolutely adored this book. I laughed so hard, and I teared up at parts. I loved seeing Amanda and Oakley’s relationship progress naturally to something many people could only dream of. The steam was on point. This was a fantastic debut from this Cowrite dream team!
