Her life has become a single, low note. Will an Italian escape strike a joyful chord in her soul?
Clara Smith seems out of tune, drifting through one empty day after another. Alone in LA for Christmas and uncertain about her new boyfriend, the pianist-turned-lawyer feels as fake as the snow. But when her firm dispatches her to Siena, Italy to lead a major project, the rhythm of the daily grind … the daily grind gloriously changes tempo.
Bonding with her charismatic eighty-year-old neighbor over his large collection of photographs, she uncovers a picture of a mysterious woman. And a breathtaking cross-country adventure, in search of the framed beauty who shares her name gives voice to Clara’s long-silenced passions.
Can a melodious tour through vineyards and sun-drenched landscapes restore her sense of harmony?

The majority of the book takes place in Italy. Many of the places were where I have been. I could visualize the places Clara visited.
I really liked this book
This book has lots of twists and turns and kept me up way past my bedtime. I’ll be looking for more books from this author.
Wordy, very little plot.
The main character drove me crazy that she couldn’t make a decision about her life because she was desperate to find someone else’s!
The characters seemed to come alive in this story and I felt like I was living it with them. Beautiful writing. I enjoyed this so much, thank you!
I didn’t think much of this book. Couldn’t even finish it. Very disjointed writing. Very disappointed as I wanted to like it.
Didn Like it boring to get through
This book didn’t load properly! It was very frustrating that chapters were skipped.
I think I would have enjoyed it!!
Got a little slow at times.. definitely not a happy ending . Interesting information about music and Italy.
A delightful read about a young lady finding herself in ITALY. So enjoy traveling with Clara and her unlikely friend and the deep bond they formed. An extremely interesting story about finding what you love to do.
The personality of the main character made me feel uncomfortable at times. She did finally seem to get her life together by the end of the book.
boring from the very beginning. First two thirds of the book had no story. The ending was disappointing. Terrible book. Very depressing.
I didn’t care for the book when I first started it and then it really grabbed me. I didn’t guess the end of the story which is always a plus for me. It was a good read.
I loved the older gentleman who’s passion was not to old to connect with a younger woman whom he befriended on a wonderful search for answers.
It was apparently gripping as I finished in a day. I had some thoughts about how it might end that weren’t true, a good couple of twists. More likely a young person’s book, in that many options didn’t seem likely or needed for me, nearly 3 times as old as the protagonists. Interesting to see the thought process. Decision making is not an innate skill, especially regarding emotional entanglements. I admired the choice to risk exploration and go on a quest.
Enjoyed the story
Loved it. Could not put it down until I read it entirely. Also I have 2 great granddaughters named Amelia & Clara. It was ‘meant to be. that I read it. Thank you for creating the story. Happy Reader…Jean Weaver
I got really tired of the main character and her gloomy flash backs and morose outlook.
This novel kept me reading to see where it would take me….but I found it most depressing. The author appears to think its all about love, but i think its all about depression. It is a wonderfully written work but left me shaken. I suppose feeling anything, even upset, from a novel is a good thing these days.
