“Filled with passion, suspense, and strong characters.”–Rendezvous with Romance on My Favorite Cowboy (5 stars)

Donna Grant is a new to me author. I didn’t realize when I picked up this book on Netgalley that it was book #5 in the Heart of Texas series. I’m interested in going back to book one because I enjoyed Looking for a Cowboy and its characters so much. To be sure this can be read as a standalone novel but for the reader, I think the connection for the supporting characters would have been that much more enjoyable.
The book was well written. The strong bonds of the Texas men carried throughout the mystery and developing romance of the novel.
P.I., Marlee Frampton, has been on a mission to solve her sister’s murder for over a decade. Her leads bring her to a small town in Texas where she meets the most sought after bachelor, Cooper Owens.
From that point forward the hectic ride begins.
Outstanding. This is a great story of focus and friendship. Marlee is very focused and passionate about her job. Cooper is out of the military and still looking for something to catch his attention. This story has all the hallmarks of a page turning intrigue and sure fire romance. As Cooper gathers all his friends together to help Marlee solve her case and keep her safe. They also offer him advice on love and moving forward. Great read.
First of all I have to say the crimes in this story are pure evil and horrendous. P.I. Marlee Frampton is after a stolen baby ring. The vile members of this ring search for pregnant women and when they have the chance they grab the woman slit the woman’s throat and cut the baby out of the woman’s womb. Marlee ends up in Cooper Owens’ town of Clearview, Texas while working on her latest case. She believes Cooper’s friends Brice and Naomi have adopted a stolen baby. Cooper knows better.
There’s plenty of action and suspense in this story. The tension I felt throughout kept me turning the pages and reading as fast as I could to see how Ms. Grant resolved all the conflict. I really enjoyed this book.
Marlene is been looking for her niece the last ten years. Her twin sister was eight month pregnant when she was murdered and the baby taken for hem womb.
Since this day, Marlene, a cop for three years, has been working as a PI ti bring justice for all the murders and kidnapping fro fraud adoptions. When she gets to Clearview, Texas, little she knows that she will find love, happiness and closure from her past.
Looking for a Cowboy is the fifth book in the Heart of Texas series and it’s one of my favorites to date. I will say that this isn’t all hearts and flowers, so if that is what you’re looking for, this probably isn’t the book for you. There are some sensitive subjects touched upon in the book including kidnapping, adoption and murder. With that said, it’s one of the best romantic suspense novels that I’ve read in a long time.
When Marlee Frampton became a PI, it wasn’t what she originally thought she would do with her life. But when life threw a huge curveball at her and her family when her twin sister was murdered, it was the only job she could see herself doing. She wanted to help those who couldn’t help themselves. The clues in her latest investigation have landed her in Clearview and she’s zeroed in on a couple who has just recently adopted a child thinking the infant may be a child who was abducted and then adopted through an adoption agency not on the up and up.
Cooper Owens is the kind of guy who helps everyone. His friends are some of the most important people in his life and the connection he has with them always has him looking out for each of them and their families. When Marlee starts poking around about Brice and Naomi’s adopted son, Cooper immediately sticks up for his friends. He’s immediately drawn to Marlee and wants to know more about her, but his allegiance will always be with is friends.
When Cooper figures out why Marlee is really in town, he offers to help her. She’s never had help before, so she resists at first, but finally gives in. While feelings begin to develop between the two, they are also thrown into a high stakes quest to try to bring down the ring of people who have been committing hideous crimes for years. With the help of Cooper and his friends, will Marlee finally do what she’s been trying to do for a decade?
This was a fast-paced book that had wonderful character development, the plot kept me engaged the whole time and it kept me guessing about what was going to happen next. There were plenty of twists and turns along with some romance as well. Another really solid offering by Donna Grant.
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**
This is a heartbreaking story about losing a very important part of your life and making everything in your power that those who are responsible to pay. After years of tracking and hunting for her sister killer, Marlee comes in Clearview. At first, it seems that she comes to yet another dead end, but this time luck is on her side because for the first time she is not working alone. And for the first time, her heart is beating faster in the proximity of a very hot looking cowboy. For Cooper meeting, Marlee is love at first sight, and he will make everything in his power for the redhead to be his. Intense story with a mystery to solve and love to bloom.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
It was fun to return to the Heart of Texas community for another installment. Grant creates a story that requires everyone we’ve met from previous books to help newcomer, Marlee. Cooper is both suspicious and concerned by Marlee’s arrival and her interest in his friends but also immediately attracted to her. Such conflict!
Marlee’s experience the unthinkable and now dedicates her life to saving children, their parents and loved ones from going through what she did or at least getting them answers so they can have closure. She’s done this well and with minimal help. Now she finds not only Cooper is willing to help but everyone in his large group of friends wants to jump in. Can she trust these people? Can they really help? Is Cooper right that maybe it’s time to seek help?
The story is well paced and has the right mix of suspense, wariness and even a family friend who turns out, unexpectedly, not to be what she appears.
This story deals with a dark subject realistically and well but offers enough heartwarming detail to keep the reader from becoming hopelessly depressed. In the end Marlee and Cooper get not only a happily every after but their new life brings new happiness to many around them.
I didn’t realize this was the fifth book in the series, but it reads like a stand alone. Obviously, there was some back story to some of the other characters, but it was easy to follow along.
This takes place in Clearview, Texas, where Marlee Frampton has landed following a case. Marlee is a former cop, turned P.I. She left the force to strike out on her own after her twin sister, Macey, who was murdered, and look for her missing niece. Marlee has a passion for finding missing children.
Marlee desperate to make headway in her case, decides to take an unethical approach, and use Cooper Owens to get information on a couple whom Coop has close ties with. It backfires miserably on her.
Cooper has a strong close net of friends, who have always been there for one another. They are all like more of an extended family.
Fully knowing, that the cat is out of the bag, Marlee decides to go speak to Brice & Naomi Harper. Although, the end result is not what Marlee expected; Marlee is going to find out that Cooper is what she needs.
This is the first book of Donna Grant’s that I’ve read, and won’t be my last. I was pulled in from the beginning. This book has heart! I loved the strong family connections between Cooper and his friends. Although, Marlee is used to working alone, she hit the jackpot finding Cooper and the gang. They are definitely someone you’d want in your corner. I found myself rooting for Marlee and Cooper, even though Marlee put up roadblocks because of her job. A wonderful read!
I received an ARC from NetGalley via St. Martin’s Press and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.
Looking for a Cowboy (Heart of Texas #5) by Donna Grant… Just loving this series and the people of Clearview and their close friendships. Your will enjoy the series..but this book can be read as a stand-alone. Cooper Owens all around good guy and great friend and P.I. Marlee Frampton who is searching for the killer of her twin sister and her missing baby. This story has suspense, horrific crimes, twists and turns, fast paced action and steamy stuff all leading to a climatic but very HEA. I can’t wait for book six.
Looking for a Cowboy by Donna Grant may be the fifth book in the Heart of Texas series but it was easily read as a standalone.
Ms. Grant’s detailed description of the characters throughout the story made them all feel fully developed. Marlee is a strong and determined PI who’s specialty is finding newborn babies who have been kidnapped after their mothers had been murdered. The statistics quoted for kidnapped babies in this book are staggering and heartbreaking. A plot that moved at the speed of light, action, family, close friendships and hot romance kept me turning the pages. The dramatic ending had me on the edge of my seat.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from St. Martin’s Paperbacks via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed reading this book!
It’s a engaging, sexy, emotional, intense
& suspenseful story. Filled with twist
& turns you didn’t see coming.
It grabbed me from the very first page
This is my first time reading a book
by this author & it won’t be my last.
A MUST READ!!
I have read a few of Donna Grant’s books in the Heart of Texas series. I have liked them all. I was really into this one; even though it deals with horrific actions against pregnant women, human trafficking, and kidnapping. The main characters, Marlee and Cooper seem to have an almost instant attraction. I found their story quite compelling. The story flows so well, builds to the climax and then it concludes. Unfortunately for me, I felt let down. I wanted a better ending for their search for the missing boy and the criminal ring that had been operating for over 10 years in selling babies/infants. Perhaps part of the story will pick up in a subsequent book. I know it’s probably just me; but I was deflated by the ending when some “loose ends” weren’t tied-up to my satisfaction. That being said; it is a very good story (albeit alarming in some ways) and the writing is as good as always.
Marlee was happy on her local police force but after her twin goes missing, Marlee ends up ging down her own rabbit hole into hell! The book begins with her twin’s murder and her niece being kidnapped, literally taken from the safety of her mothers womb – a harrowing start to anyone’s backstory!
Fast forward a decade and Marlee is now a PI but with a side mission of looking for her niece. Clues lead her to Clearview, TX where she tried to get an in with the people she suspects may be involved in the murder/abduction. Cooper, one hunkalicious cowboy is friends with these people and ultimately gets involved in the investigation.
Strong plot, harrowing beginning, and a few supporting characters that add to the story. There are plenty of twists and turns and the romance is scorching hot!
It’s is great to be back with this lovely group of family and friends who are more like family. This time it’s Cooper’s turn to find love. As with any of these books there is some danger or a lot depending how you look at it. You will fall in love all over again with Cooper, Jace, Brice and Caleb. It took a little while to like Marlee, only because of how she is in the beginning of the book against all the people I have come to love to read about. Marlee is on a mission which in this case takes her to Clearview. The chemistry between Marlee and Cooper is off the charters. I like that they realize that at the beginning of the book. It just takes the book and some other things for them to figure out how to make that work. Now that Cooper has found his love, I really look forward to Jace’s book. You can read this book as a stand alone but all the books are awesome and you would have a better understanding if you read them all too.
*I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion*
Cooper Owens has made a name for himself on the rodeo circuit for calf roping. He yearns to find his direction in life. Cooper believes he has found it with Marlee Frampton, yet the beautiful out-of-towner suspects his friend of a nefarious crime. He and his friends offer to help Marlee with her missing newborn case. Unfortunately, Cooper learns his hometown is right in the middle of an infant trafficking ring. Will Cooper’s military training help Marlee with her case? What other troubles will they find?
Marlee Frampton is a private investigato who specializes in missing children. Evidence leads her to a small town in Texas and to a particular family. When her lead is a bust, Marlee reluctantly turns to a certain green-eyed cowboy for help. She never imagined finding a man like Cooper. However, Marlee’s investigation takes a dangerous turn, and it not only jeopardizes her life but Cooper’s also. Will Marlee and Cooper finally bust the infant smuggling ring? Or will the case cost them more than just their lives?
Cooper is definitely a keeper! I have always liked him and Jace since their debut in COWBOY, CROSS MY HEART, book two in the series. I adore how Cooper respects Marlee’s privacy and guardedness. He never pressed or pressured her for any information she was not ready to give. What I love the most about Cooper is how he worries over Marlee’s wellbeing. He does not want her to burn herself out, especially in her line of work. Cooper convinces Marlee to take some down time.
Marlee is such an inspiring woman. She takes a traumatic event and turns it into a calling. I adore Marlee’s love for eighties music. She is a woman after my own heart since that is my music choice too. What I love the most about Marlee is her tenacity. She never once forgot about her niece, and she continues to search for her. Also, Marlee allows nothing to interfere in retrieving missing children or helping families to find closure.
LOOKING FOR A COWBOY is book five in Donna Grant’s cowboy-themed romantic suspense series, HEART OF TEXAS. I highly recommend reading this series in proper order to understand the characters’ deep bonds. I love how the couples from the previous four books play important roles throughout the story.
LOOKING FOR A COWBOY is a suspenseful tale about love finding two people when they least expect it. I do hope the author writes Jace’s happily-ever-after next. That man definitely deserves one.

A driven PI and an ex military man come together in this fast paced book. Well written, great characters, lots of twists and turns and an enjoyable romance. Highly recommended – I couldn’t put it down.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
And another one bites the dust! I love seeing all these honorable men finding the love of their lives. Every hero in this series has shown us what great men they are, and how they are all willing to help anyone who needs it. The fact they they are all Texas cowboys is just icing on the cake.
This was a bit of love at first site for Cooper which made me like his story more. I just love when a man just knows what he wants and goes for it. Marlee was way more hesitant but you can’t blame her when all she sees is the worst in humanity through her job.
As always, the whole gang came together when the going got tough and proved why a great group of people they are. There were a few answers left unsolved so I really hope the author has plans to close them up in the next book. I’ve got my own ideas with how she could do that so I will be patiently waiting for the next book. Please let it be Jace’s turn!
Book 5 of this series
A very good book
Marlee was a cop that went on to be a detective
After her sister was murdered and her baby stolen
She was hired to find another missing child in Texas that was taken the same way
It lead her to cooper and his friends that were all ex military
A lot of Ins and outs and action very interesting to read as they tried to find out who was killing the women
Kept my attention throughout would definitely read more in this series
Looking For A Cowboy is a spectacular romantic suspense by Donna Grant. Ms. Grant has penned a book that is well-written and will have you clinging to the edge of your seat. Her crowning glory in this book though is the characters. These characters will make you smile, grit your teeth in anger and may milk your little tear ducts. When Marlee’s pregnant sister was murdered and her unborn baby kidnapped, Marlee quits her job as a cop and starts her own investigation firm to return stolen babies to their parents. Cooper is at loose ends since leaving the military, since money is not a problem he spends his time helping his friends. Cooper and Marlee’s story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I loved every page of this book and look forward to my next book by Donna Grant. Looking For A Cowboy is book 5 of the Heart of Texas Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Marlee was a police officer a decade ago, but tragedy changed course of her job. Now she is PI, dedicated to find stolen babies. This bring her to Clearview, where she meets Cooper. He promised to help her, even if his friends will loose their newly adopted baby.
Someone else is looking at Marlee, that person, will make sure, she never finds people responsible for stealing babies.
I loved this story, from the first to the last page.
